Each time I've been I can tell that things ordered have been cooked days ago and reheated. But the suya is always good. Service: The servers are friendly but it takes a while to get the food. Even if you're the only ones there. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. One experience worth noting is when my husband asked for a specific dish, one server told us they were out, she insisted they were out of it. We asked another server and she said they had some but it would take a while to prepare. I can't remember what the dish was but I do remember it tasting a bit spoiled or old so I think the server found some that had been stored and reheated it for us. I went there on a Friday evening and it was empty at 8 pm. Sat at the bar and ate the Friday special which was reasonable. Ordered rice and stew to go and eguisi soup as well. Got home to find out they gave me two Egusi soup. On top of that, they charged me an 18% service fee because it was 9:15 pm when I closed my tab. This place was kinda tucked away in the back of a shopping plaza but good thing the letters are bright green and very large so you kinda see it as you drive/pull in. Upon walking in we were told to sit anywhere, the waitress walked up to us looking like "what do you want to order" and we were like we don't have menus lol so she went to get them and we decided pretty quickly on what to get because they had a lunch special for weekends. She was attentive and nice but I would've liked more water, it was a plastic water bottle. We ended up getting the stewed chicken (a little overcooked) but had a good flavor, with jolloff rice it was good. It also came with beans, they are interesting because they were sweet tasting. My dinner companion opted for the greens instead of beans so I could try them. They were good and spicy but had a fishy taste, he said it was from crawfish powder or something. What a great experience for me and my family. My family were visiting Atlanta and wanted to eat Nigerian food while we were visiting Atlanta. My son did a Google search and found Fads African Dinning we read the reviews and said let's give it a try they have great reviews. We found our way there and the ambiance for starters was spectacular we saw some nostalgic games we used to play with in Nigeria on display. We were met with big smiles from the staff. They suggested we should try their pounded yam with egusi with lots of goat meat. The food came pretty fast great service from our waitress. The food was delicious and Mt wife and kids were pretty impressed. It was a great experience for all us. No complaints it was an epic experience. We also got some nice suya to go. The owner explained that Saturday night is usually quiet because the banquet hall next door usually has a function. The waitress service was ok, not great but not horrible either. This is my first time eating Nigerian food at a restaurant. I really enjoyed my food! I even ate with my hand which I have never really done. The food was amazingly spicy. They didn't have any amala which my husband was not happy about, but the iyan was good enough for me. The place was great! We went there on Saturday night. Were greeted warmly by a host who happened to be Fad himself. He was great and super helpful! He ordered all the dishes for us, described each of them beforehand to make sure that we can tolerate some of the spicy items. Our waitress was exceptional, adorable, friendly and super attentive. The place itself is very eccentric. It has several TVs that show different things. Additionally, it has a huge projector screen where they played Pop Nigerian music rather loud. My husband and I were visiting from out of town and we specifically called before arriving to ask if they had Gulder in stock and what time they were closing. The receptionist confirmed they had Gulder and advised they would close at 4. It was Owambe Friday so we didn't think twice about driving 40 minutes to the resturant to listen to the live music and drink our favorite beer. We arrived to a pretty much empty house with no live band and the waitress reminding us they would be closing in an hour (12 am). I explained that we were told they were closing at 4 and she advised the time varied depending on the crowd and since they didn't have a lot of people there the closing time was 12. We sat down and ordered the Suya Beef, Jollof Rice and Gulder (the only reason we truly came as there is no Gulder to be found in our state). Waitress came back with a Star bottle and explained they were out of Gulder. We explained we called ahead of time and asked!! She was sincerely apologetic and advised that was a mistake. Our drive was 40 minutes away and so we stayed for the food. Suya Beef - it's debatable if that suya was really grilled, tasted baked. Overall still decent. I have had their food a total of four times - once dine-in, three times takeout. That alone should tell you something... their service is awful. The people working at FAD are extremely rude, more interested in watching their soap operas than looking their customers in the eye when talking to them. As a non-African, they talked to me like as if it was impossible that I knew what I was ordering or how to eat the food although I have enjoyed West African cuisine for 20 years. Don't make assumptions, people. The first two times I had FAD food was about three years ago and the shabby service was enough for me not to go back even though their fried plantains, at the time, were the best I had ever had. The Egusi soup however was not particularly good, definitely not good enough to make up for the poor service. The most recent two take-outs were two weeks apart due to a craving for fufu and jollof rice during COVID-19 times. Not only were the staff rude yet again, but their sanitary precautions were also lacking terribly. They had a bottle of watered-down sanitizer at the entrance - which is totally useless since it reduces the alcohol content below 60%. Nobody on their staff wore masks or gloves and again, the draw of the TV far exceeded any courtesy towards me as a customer. The food was a disappointment as the meat in the egusi soup with the fufu was of very poor quality and there were a bunch of stock fish bones in it. This was their Wednesday special and it was supposed to come with fried plantains according to their website. However, they made us pay for them separately. The Friday special jollof rice was supposed to come with chicken, however, half the meat was chicken and the other half was something else, possibly goat. The rice itself was burnt. The fried plantains were the only part of the meal that were good, though sadly, no longer as amazing as what they sold a few years back as these were greasy whereas the previous ones were not. All of this is to say that while I had planned to go back to FAD with a Nigerian friend of mine to see if the service would be any better, I have now given up on them due to the poor quality of the food I recently received. I had recently learned of this gen year old restaurant and was excited about trying my native cuisine in a new restaurant . We ordered their, what I believe would be called, chef's daily special. We were served beef, goat, and chicken. Also served was spinach, yam, three kinds of rice (plain white rice, coconut rice, and fried rice and several more items that Were delicious including some awesome SUYA. Finding a Nigerian restaurant with great customer service from both the chef and waitress is like spotting a leprechaun riding a unicorn on February 30th on a double rainbow. So today, I believe I spotted an anomaly. Not only was the waitress super sweet and courteous, the chef (not sure if he was the owner as well) came out frequently to check on us.
