But, I decided to make the trip one rainy day and I must say I was not disappointed. Inside was clean, the service was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. I ordered the Efo Riro with Mackeral and it was good, the fish was cooked well. I got there fairly early and there was no one in the restaurant so I didn't have to wait too long for my food. It came out hot, fresh, and the right amount of spice. I'll definitely be back to try my go to Ayamase and other items. read more

Don't mind me. I'm very picky when it comes to Nigerian restaurants. For me, the jollof rice is too smoky, my kid loves rice and didn't even eat it. Also, the meatpie has no taste whatsoever, which is too bad because the crust is very nice and flaky and the meat inside is minced well. I ordered a dozen meatpie for Christmas and my family didn't even finish it. Usually if something is really good, there are no leftovers but something was missing. I would recommend if you can't cook at home or see craving Nigerian food. This place is a nice alternative but if you can cook, stop being lazy and make it yourself. I ordered the Egusi Soup with fufu and after seeing another patrons plate from a distance I inquired as to what he had ordered and the host said Catfish with beans and plantains and I ordered that as well. I had both dishes to go. The Egusi with fufu was hot, freshly prepared and delicious. It had ample chunks of beef as well and some smoked or dried fish it appeared. I also had one surprise piece of fish that had dozens of super sharp tiny bones in it. I had to take my time spitting them out and the experience was not pleasant. I don't think the restaurant owner should serve fish with those fine little needle like bones. It could open him up to liability because what if a bone lodges into someone's throat? Many years ago my aunt had that happen to her and she ended up in the emergency room. The bone had turner sideways in her throat and could not be dislodged. However again the Egusi was very flavorful and it definitely had a strong kick to it with the spice. It was very spicy. The only bad things were the initial smell when I removed the top (it smelled like dried meat and sometimes those are not pleasant smells) and the tiny fish bones. The second dish I ordered I really couldn't eat. I was horrified to see what the dish looked like up close. It was just a hot stew mess with a bunch of strange textures and tastes all combined into this strange mush of a dish. The catfish was pretty good. It was stewed. But rhe rest was not edible. The restaurant was ok. It was nothing extravagant but it was nice for a date. It was dark on the inside. The man running the register was nice. The cooks appeared to be friendly. Pretty good restaurant that's open when Toyin 4miles away is closed. So that's a plus I usually get their ofada stew with beef which is red and spicy. This can be shut or miss. It was great at first but lately it's been NOT spicy or salty. It's better to order in advance of pickup to reduce your wait time. The egusi is good and so is the edikaikong stew. Nigerian here: I was too lazy to make soup so I decided to look around for for take out places and found Ayo. I ordered moi moi and egusi soup since a lot of people like it here. Moi moi: not bad, a little dry but standard moi moi with some egg yolks inside Egusi: a pretty standard egusi. I had hen with it(which is pretty much stew chicken). It had an alright flavor and the chicken breast pieces i got were pretty tough/dry. I personally prefer to boil, bake, then re-add my chicken to rehydrate and give it more flavor. Fufu: cooked perfectly! Prices are ok. Overall its just meh. Ill probably just cook at home and freeze my leftovers in the future but if you want an intro to Nigerian cuisine, this one is alright. read more

I have been on a hunt for egusi soup and fufu. My intentions were to only buy that but the employee got me to try the gollof rice and it was delicious so I got that as well with mackerel. The rice and mackerel with plantain was my favorite. The egusi soup and fufu was just not something I didn't enjoy the meat I got which was beef and goat meat were very tough and chewy. The fufu was warm and easy to dig into. I can't say I was would order egusi soup and fufu again but I would definitely order the jollof rice and mackerel again. The mackerel was so delicious it was tender and seasoned very well. And it was my first time eating this. It was bomb I got it with beef. It was cooked to perfection, spicy and delicious. OK let's get into this review. A little bit of a backstory before I jump into the review I had a horrible experience with another restaurant attempting to order some African cuisine's and they refused to make the order and then I had to wait 3 to 5 days to get my money back. So I decided to jump back on Yelp and UberEats and start looking for some different places to Order from. So I found this place had never heard of it before but decided to take a chance and baby let me tell you five stars across the board. 100% across the board hands-down the best African cuisines I've had. So let's jump into what I ordered I couldn't decide on one thing to order so I ordered three I've previously had moi moi in the past and absolutely loved it so I wanted to give it a try again. Now this wasn't the traditional more more than I had in the past however this one came with a boiled egg on the inside of it and I can't say that I was mad at that taste wasse flavor wise text your wise it was all pretty good. I also ordered Ufada stew and white rice. So my first reaction to dipping the spoon inside of the soup and simply taste in it lots of flavor delicious spicy. It came with white rice so I made a plate white rice at the bottom a father on top and attempted to eat maybe about 2 to 3 spoonful you'd have to really love spice to like this dish is it good yes is it delicious absolutely is it way too spicy for a human being yes. Would I order that again no but not because it didn't taste good just because I'm not really fond of spice. Now let's jump into my absolute favorite the last days I tried was a Banga soup by far hands-down the best out of the three. I ordered the beef with this dish you can tell that is made with maybe some Palms oil and I'm not able to really pick out the other ingredients inside of this dish but it has like a sweet undertone and a bunch of greatness I really can't explain it what is so delicious and I eat that with the yams or should I say fufu. Overall I would really recommend the Banga soup with the pounded yam/foo foo if you really want something amazing and great. What I order a game from this restaurant absolutely thank you so much for the great cuisines they were amazing and I look forward to order it again. read more

FRAUD ALERT****We have been going to this restaurant for a few months now and last Wednesday my husband misplaced his card after he left the restaurant. he called the restaurant the next day spoke to a lady she said there was no card, my husband went back on Friday just to order food not thinking much about it and asked about his card again. Immediately the only guy that works the register pulls the card out of the register, without hesitation. Didn't even ask my husband name, that's how often my husband bought food. Meanwhile we noticed we have some charges pending and posting the two days while in the restaurant possession. My husband does the right thing talks to the manager about an employee using his card and without hesitation she states no one can do such a thing. Madam the card was in your restaurant's possession while it was being charged. You didn't even ask ,you only have like 3 employees and what mgr doesn't go in their own cash register to not notice a card? And then the guy finds my husband's number off of their caller ID and proceeds to text him threatening messages about how he owns all of these businesses and has no reason to use the card. He calls my husband poor and wishing him bad things because some of the transaction did not go thru, well that's because we locked the card . Stupid.So no more transaction can go thru. And secondly you can't curse what Christ has blessed. Then this dude has the nerve to plead with my husband not to get the police involved but he actually states to just call your bank and have them credit the charges. Now you tell me is that not incriminating yourself? This makes me wonder How often have you used people card at this restaurant? This is America jack, you can't use somebody's card and then say call the bank and have them credit the charges. It's called FRAUD. This dude has called my husband so many times, text him so many times. Had he not been so arrogant and egotistical my husband had considered to just let it go. But this just proves that maybe this isn't the first time that he has done some thing like this. But guess what, he met the right one. We have filed a police report.
