Quaint and gemmed status, if you like it doubt this is where you come. I kept my first visit order simple. Rice and Peas! I was not disappointed. The flavor is familiar with island style dining. They are pricey but the return is a grand serving. I'll have to look more into the previous reviews to be certain. But they managed to stay within my radar.
I recently visited 876'yanmiz in Marietta and was quite disappointed. I specifically asked if the fried chicken was cooked to order and requested all dark meat. Instead, I received old, reheated white meat--huge, mushy breast pieces that tasted like they had been sitting around for days, reminiscent of something from a grocery store. My husband ordered the jerk chicken, which was bone dry and lacking flavor. I felt misled after driving from Suwanee based on the glowing reviews, especially since some enticing menu items, like oxtail Philly, were unavailable. When I inquired about the chicken, the staff claimed it was cooked to order, but I was served one leg alongside all white meat despite our discussion about dark meat. The service didn't help either; I didn't feel welcomed at all. It's unfortunate because good service can justify higher prices, but here it fell flat. I wouldn't recommend tipping, as you may encounter issues with your order. For anyone considering this place, I'd suggest Ovations in Gwinnett instead--much better quality and saves on gas!
Overall rating is between 3-4. Finally visited 876 today for dinner & ordered curry chicken with a side of plantains and mac & cheese. Flavor 8.5/10. Curry chicken lacked gravy and was slightly dry but was rich in flavor. My biggest complaint is that when ordering an entrée meat plate you are only allowed to pick one side between cabbage, plantains, and mac & cheese, and all of my years eating Caribbean food, this is something I've never seen before since cabbage and plantains are usually standard with the meal so having to pay an extra few bucks for plantains is pretty annoying considering they're kind of mandatory for me when eating Jamaican. Also you have to pay extra for rice and peas, which is a little absurd. Portion size is satisfactory, I had leftovers. Mac & cheese is good but IMO they try too hard with the spices and seasonings and it's way too spicy. I like a kick, but I don't want my mac & cheese to be extra spicy. I would go back but not often considering the price for only getting one side and having to pay extra for rice and peas.
A hidden gym within Marietta. I can see why there was so much buzz about it on social media. When my friend and I came in, the line was pretty long, considering how small the shop was. Most of the people ordered food to go, but my friend, and I wanted to dine in. We ordered the shrimp Rasta pasta, oxtail, cabbage, and rice with a side of plantains with some Sorel and June plum to wash it all down. The food was an absolute bust down. Definitely recommend the spot if you're looking for good Jamaican food.
The place has some of the best jerk chicken, off the grill.Yes! They are outside grilling the meat. Could it use a little more season, yes! But they give you some sauce on the side to add as much heat as you want.. The resturant is small but there are enough CLEAN tables to enjoy. The gals dem nice, so take care of them. I would take mi father there, so check it out. Ymmv.
1 star because I drove from Camp Creek to Marietta only to find the actual hours are 11a - 8p. Maybe I'm wrong but how hard is it to update your business hours so that potential customers don't waste their time?
I walked in and wanted to order an oxtail quesadilla but the cashier said they were out. It was 5:30p. I ordered an oxtail and mac and cheese combo instead with a rum punch. From the time printed on my receipt, until the time the food came to my table, it was exactly 30 minutes. There weren't but two people ahead of me. It's like they make the food one order at a time which isn't efficient. Also, during my wait, no one came and gave me an update nor did I receive my drink until I went up and asked for it. The food is served in to-go containers even if you order in and though I tipped in advanced when I paid, no one came to clear my table off. I cleared the table myself. They did say bye and tell me to have a great weekend. The music is a vibe!!! I love the Caribbean culture and during my time in the restaurant, I knew every song that came on. The food is PERFECT. Flavor and portion and temperature are all GREAT but it takes entirely too long and the service needs to improve. I plan to return to try more menu items.
I got the oxtail rice and oxtail pasta and strawberry cheesecake. It was so flavorful and a good portion size. It came out fast! I will def be back.
Food: Authentic Service: Good Ambience: Small neighborhood gem that does offer live DJ playing Rasta music in Fridays after 6pm The food was good but, it's a tad bit purer than most. What's that saying..."You get what you pay for" They import some of the items, drinks etc that's sold here. Perfect example a Red Stripe is a couple of dollars in Jamaica but, I paid $10.99 for try the watermelon red stripe I just had to try since I wanted to try the other flavors I didn't get to try while visiting Jamaica. I will say the customer's were coming in & I see why...the food is honestly cooked to order fresh so, again expect to wait if you come in instead of calling in your order like most customers that came in & took out. I waited 30mins for the oxtails cheese zip which was delightful soon on the usual cheese dips however, I felt like the left-over pieces of oxtails w/inside the cheese dip only because of all the fat I ate in the oxtail queso dip. And the wings were tasty in flavor however, I dislike the gigantic wings that look of steroids. They were rather tough & not so tender w/alot of fatty skin, Overall, I will try something different next time; thats more like " No Worries".
Popped in here for some dinner because it had great reviews. It's GREAT! It's a very cool colorful restaurant with great music. At first walk in, the aroma hits you right in the senses. You know it's good because of that smell! I was torn between Jerk and Curry Chicken. She said the scurry Chicken will make you feel like your in Jamaica. She was right! So delicious. A very hearty portion of rice and beans, cabbage, and chicken. Fall of the bone, lick your fingers good! She even brought over some freshly chopped scotch bonnets, which also were a nice heat addition to an already delicious dish. Annnd she brought a taste of the jerk chicken? Nice smoke and spice! Add in the side of delicious BBQ sauce, forget about it, so good. Needless to say we are both full and have some leftovers in the fridge. Come hungry and be ready to leave full. Awesome service! She was very intuitive on our needs, even threw in some bottle waters to help tamp down the scotch bonnet heat... 5 STARS!
A nice Jamaican restaurant with great service. My friend and I stopped in to grab dinner, and the food was good, the service... Better. The hostess went out of her way to ensure we enjoyed our meal. This is a warm and welcoming place to come, get some good food fast, and relax. It's located in a small strip mall with a lot of other restaurants. Parking is ok, but I can imagine it getting tight when all restaurants are busy. The inside is cool, nicely decorated, with good music. I definitely recommend.

876 NyamMinz is a great local spot. The food was prepared well and the service was okay. Definitely a food place to bring the family or meet up with friends for a good meal. Based on other prices I've seen for Jamaican food in Atlanta this location is comparable. I got the Rasta Pasta with chicken. The chicken was very crispy and juicy and the pasta has a little heat that set it off. They also have a variety of Jamaican drinks to chooses from. read more
I had fried chicken, rice and peas, cabbage and fried plantain with oxtail gravy. The fried chicken was well seasoned and fried. The rice and peas were seasoned even better and I could taste the coconut milk. The cabbage was too salty and had too much black pepper in it and the plantain was not sweet at all, I really didn't enjoy the plantain. The service was good as well. The place was very clean and looked nice. I had to wait quite a while for the food because it wasn't ready. The wait was too long. read more

Too expensive for the quantity. While the food is very flavorful, the price does not match what you get. The oxtail is on a small plate for reference in size will not be spending $42 again on this meal. read more

I stopped by 876 for lunch because my friend recommended it. They are located in a shopping complex so there is a free parking lot. I was able to walk right up to the counter to order. I saw they had a jerk fries special, but I couldn't decide between that or oxtail lunch. So I asked if they could do oxtail fries. This was their first request for that, but the cook made it happen. While I waited for my food they have a decent amount of seating available and TVs. They also had music playing on & off. When my food came out, I was amazed at how much I received. It was a lot of food and was delicious!! The cook definitely out did himself. read more

Amazing food. I had the chicken curry with the rice and beans and OMG! I give it a 10/10! I also had a beef patty and it was good as well. A little expensive but worth it once a month. If it was a little better priced i would eat here more often. I recommend this place. read more
This was my second time visiting, about a month apart from the first and the service, the energy, the ambiance, the food quality, and the love you receive walking in was just the same! The person checking you out, bagging your items, and cooking all speak to you and acknowledge your presence. The restaurant smells AMAZING every time you enter. The food is always hot and fresh and I conclude my meal satisfied with my experience so I'll definitely continue to support! read more

The food has been consistently hot and flavorful after 5 or so visits. The sitting area is small, but serves. I just looked at my receipt for 2 patties and a bottle of Wata. WDB (what di _____) $4.98 for 600ml?! Last time I buy a water from unna. read more

Another great find, thanks to Yelp. After a long day, I was tired, hungry, and considering heading to the nearest drive-thru. The only problem is I had no idea what to get. After ruling out the usual options, I realized I hadn't had Jamaican food in a minute and was heading to another spot when I pulled up Yelp and quickly saw the 4.5-star rating, plus it was only a mile away from where I was. Perfect. A quick drive to the shopping Plaza it's in. I noted a few more places in the plaza to check out later. I walked into a cute space with a handful of tables and what appeared to be a small bar behind the counter. But the delicious aroma wafting through made me realize I made the right choice. After chatting with the cashier, I opted for the brown stew chicken with coco bread. The food came out relatively quickly, and the service was friendly and efficient. It took all within me not to dive into there and wait until I got home. Whew, I'm glad I waited because I got to enjoy this in the comfort of my home. The chicken was falling off the bone and the bite with it, rice and peas and plantains, was a symphony of flavor. The cashier threw in some cornbread too. Baaaaby, I was in heaven. Yep, I'm going back. Well, after I eat the two days worth of leftovers from this one plate. read more

Okay, so for the price of Rasta Pasta and the Oxtail Philly cheesesteak, I could of fed a family of 4. The Oxtail Cheesesteak comes on a 9 inch bun. Give me 12 inches at least- for the price. There wasn't much Philly or cheese. It was just ok. The Rasta Pasta, they give you a lot, but I don't think I will be back. It was all just okay especially considering I drove 52 minutes there and 52 minutes back to Douglasville. read more
