I love African grill the food is always always so tasty. I usually get African rice and stew with mackerel fish but recently I've been trying others and they are also really great options!

So I've never had African food before so I was excited to see that this place was opening so close to my house. My fiancé and I ordered the Okra Soup with Tilapia and the Suya with Jollof Rice. We got our food really fast, but the Okra soup was served with pork instead of tilapia but we didn't mind. That was so good. It was served with a side of White Yam Fufu which is kinda like mashed potatoes but more gooey. By itself I wasn't too fond of the Fufu but with the soup it was good. The Suya wasn't bad. It was really dry beef, kind of like a beef jerky consistency. That came with a side of salad. I don't think I would order Suya again only because I'm not a fan of dry beef. I can't wait to come back and try the other dishes! Our waitress was super nice and welcoming and we did ask her for her opinion on what to order since we had never had African food before and I'm glad we did!

African Grill now open for delicious African food.. you won't be disappointed

A fantastic place to be.. here you will taste the original African food.. come try

Stumbled upon this while doing a search for Nigerian food specifically Jollof rice. At the time of…read morethis writing I was starting to give up hope on my search for quality like home Nigerian food in Atlanta. I've tried Ike's (not impressed), Little Lagos (trash), Cafe Songhai (OK), Toyin (not consistent). I decided to take a chance on this place because of the menu. I checked out their Instagram and saw some activity and pictures so I said why not? Pricing was reasonable. Customer service was BEYOND. My contact person was Yemisi and not only is she courteous but very pleasant and communicative from time of order placed to delivery. There is a delivery fee of $15. Pickup is in Gwinnett county area if wanting to avoid the delivery fee. When you place your order plan for a 2-3 day window for delivery. Packaging was EXCELLENT. Slight spillage from the stew but it's inevitable and overall packaging was great. I loved the baked goods especially the sausage roll and scotch eggs which packed a kick in heat with the spice level of the sausage. I appreciated that. I love spicy food. It was a slow burn (like black pepper spice not habanero peppers spice) so don't think it's spicy. Sausage rolls 5/5 just look at the beauties in the picture and they taste so good Meat pies 4/5 the filling is very soft like a baby could eat it but I loved the crust. I'm a fan of ground meat but not minced meat if that makes sense. Flavor was great though. Jollof rice 4/5 I was expecting more spice. I would order this again but request more heat. If you top it with the goat meat stew this will also help. Goat meat stew My favvvvv! So good. The type of stew you would find at Nigerian parties and weddings etc. Sooo good, spicy and flavorful and the meat was tenderrrr like I love. Would order this again and again and again in a heartbeat. Scotch eggs The showstopper! Listen I LOVE Scotch eggs and the way they made these. Let me tell you right now, hands down, the BEST Scotch eggs I've had the pleasure of eating. Sooooo good! The crunch of the exterior, the slow heat/slow burn of the sausage surrounding the perfectly boiled egg. WOW!!!!

Very dark and not many traditional tables and chairs. I came around lunch time and there were quite a few ladies in beautiful traditional dress (it was Christmas Eve). I had called ahead and ordered takeout and when I walked in I was promptly acknowledged. Food arrived in the quoted time (25 minutes). Nigerian cuisine is not one I'm incredibly familiar with, but I have tried many of the standard dishes. Today I went with White Rice and Red Stew, which comes with plantains. It was delicious. Piping hot and incredibly fresh. The spice level was perfect. Just spicy enough but in no way overpowering. The plantains added a sweet element which played beautifully against the spice of the stew. The only place they lost points was the price on the website is not the price I was charged. $19 on the website and I was charged $25 but maybe they just haven't updated to reflect current prices. Regardless, I really enjoyed my food and can't wait to go back and try some other dishes. Edit: Take note, it doesn't say "The Island Grill" on the sign. It says "The African Grill."

It was my first time having shito. The Jollof wasn't my favorite, unfortunately, but it finally settled the debate for me once and for all - I'm team Nigerian when it comes to Jollof. Although the Efo Riro was nicely flavored, the mix of collard greens did not compliment this dish as I thought it would. I prefer it with spinach and from my Nigerian food connect (Mina's Jollof in LA). Hers can't be beaten! Black Eye Peas were unique, and the plantains were cooked nicely. Now for the ambiance: We were one of two tables during the day, so having the place for ourselves felt nice. It also looked tidy. Our waitress was a sweetheart. The pounded yam was smooth and not too thick. I had fun scooping up the Egusi in the Fufu with my hands. Both together was an enjoyable flavor and texture combo. The Beef Suya was good as well, a nice meat appetizer. The beef was cooked well done which some people may not like, but I enjoyed it since I grew up eating my steak that way. It paired very well with the spice blend and raw onions. I also had the Ghanaian Jollof Rice and that was not my most favorite dish due to the flavor. Not my cup of tea, but the rice was cooked well. I also liked the side plantains. The interior is nicely ornate and comfy. The service here was also super great and my assigned server was very personable. At the time, we decided to dine in, and the interior looked nice with clean tables and chairs. There was a little bit of a wait for the food to come out. I had decided to go with some Plantains, Beef Suya, with Jollof Rice, and Okra Stew that comes with the Pounded Yams (or Fufu I believe). First off, the Plantains are either a hit or miss, they aren't that sweet I had also gotten served one fresh and hot, and the second time was a bit cold. Beef Suya had so much flavor with its seasonings and pepper but it was a little tough to chew through. The Jollof Rice is just as good, it has the same flavoring profile being grilled and seasoned as the beef overall I felt it was a bit too much for my palette, I could've gone for coconut rice to be honest. The Okra Stew was good, it had a bit of a kick and heat to pair with the sort of bland Fufu the size of your palm. My friend got the 6-piece chicken wings with the Suya seasoning, the wings were seasoned perfectly, and tender, and crispy fries as well. Both times I visited the price was at least under $20 depending on what you ordered.

She said they were out so he pointed to another friend and asked can he get that water flavor drink instead. The lady said no because that drink cost a little more. Ridiculous. The food was good. I liked the jollof rice and the plantains. I thought that goat and beef was too tough though. Would I come back here again? No. The cashier/server clearly didn't want us to be there so I'll look for another West African place.

They will offer bottled water as if it's the only option since there is a charge associated with it; however, tap water is available for free but you have to request it. We ordered around 7:31pm and received our food within thirty minutes. Because this is a hookah bar, the tables on the restaurant side are very low. You'll have to lean forward and down if you have the food delivered to you there. We were sitting at the low tables first but decided to head to the bar so we could actually sit at normal table height to eat. The steak kabobs were cooked too hard. They didn't ask how we wanted them cooked and we didn't think to tell them medium, so we just dealt with the overly well-done. They had a good taste, but they were just really tough to chew. The jollof rice with chicken and plantains was absolutely delicious; however, one of the chicken legs was really dark on the inside which made me not want to eat it, so I left half of that leg on the plate. I did dump the jollof rice into the sauce that the chicken sat in though because it was amazing. I loved the spice it added to the meal. The taste of all of the food was phenomenal.
