    Vegetarian Combo!
    Pink D.

My husband and I found this place on our first trip to Atlanta ... it was only a 4 day trip but we went here once for lunch and once for dinner. It was delicious! We always try to find Ethiopian restaurants when we travel and I have to say this was one of THE best! We had the vegetarian combo both times with extra sides of the Yekik Watt and Shiro Watt. I can't say how wonderful everything was. Looking forward to going back on my next trip to Atlanta! This is the first time I ever had beets in an Ethiopian restaurant. A very nice and delicious surprise ... I added some awaze to mine and they were outstanding!

My review based on one visit. I had amazing and tender goreb goreb raw, the beet salad and the fried meat pastry. All great. My only issue was the annoying sound of the alarm battery reminder. Owner needs figure it out and shut it!

I didn't know that there is an Ethiopian restaurant in this area, but I'm glad I found it. I had the vegetarian platter which has beet salad, collard greens, lentils, cabbage and potatoes, & a couple of other things I probably forgot. It is all really good food and I got a pretty good portion size. The young lady, at the register, was really nice. She even offered to bring it out to my car when it was ready. The order was quick. Also, the restaurant is nice and clean. I will be returning.

Wildly authentic Ethiopian food. Fun atmosphere with friends the decor is festive but the tables and chairs do not fit the bill. The food was pleasantly spiced and blossoms of colorful flavors. Their after dinner tea was a smash hit amongst my friends and I. Definitely recommend checking this place out. Do not let exterior looks fool you. This restaurant is sure to please your tummies.

Yebeg (lamb) tibs on injera flatbread. It was excellent! Very juicy!

First let me say this, this is my first time having Ethiopian cuisine. I didn't know what to expect so I went with a "first time for everything" mentality. Let's talk about it. Shall we? When the Misses and I first walked in, we had the place to ourselves. That would be alarming to most people but since I am a bit of a recluse, I thought this was perfect! We sat down and perused the menu...one thing I want to mention, the online menu is totally different from the restaurant menu (just a heads up). Anyway, we started with the beef sambusa. This is similar to a samosa but has more seasoning and flavor PLUS it isn't fried as hard as the samosa. They were awesome. We were given two but I wish we were given four! Lol. That's how good they were. Next we ordered the veggie combo and the yebeg tibs. The veggie combo consisted of six different choices served on injera flatbread. I found the injera to compliment the veggies because it has a slight sour taste to it. To me, it gave the veggies an extra kick. The Misses found the veggies were good by themselves. The yebeg tibs were really good! This is a lamb dish served with homemade seasonings, onions and green peppers. It's also provided with injera that was folded neatly next to it. We both liked it. The Misses and I both agreed that it would be better served over white rice! Lol! I guess that's the Asian in both of us! Lol! Also, it wouldn't be traditional Ethiopian served with rice so I'm glad it was prepared in authentic fashion. Bottom line...go give it a try. It is really good food and the Mom and Daughter that work in there are really nice! Its hard to find sincere people that takes pride in what they are doing. I will be back soon to try other items on the menu. Thanks.

The food was amazing... If you're not sure about Ethiopian they have delicious wings with fries... We had the Ethiopian coffee & it was delicious.. They served it with popcorn... The prices are affordable for a lot of food... Nice place with nice Ethiopian artwork & the service is wonderful.. Glad to find an Ethiopian restaurant close by!! We will definitely be back again!

Friendly family always greets us when we show up. The meal is incredible! We've had a lot of Ethiopian from everywhere: Seattle, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Tampa... And this cook knows her stuff. So delicately spiced and very edible! Extra injera without having to ask. We try and show at least once per week.

Restaurant is in a run down strip mall. Restaurant it's self is clean and the staff were very pleasant. Food was good and filling. Not necessarily somewhere I would come back to, but great to try something different.

I'm pleased to have discovered this gem when it comes to Ethiopian cuisine. Like many, my first…read moreintroduction was through Desta. I learned to appreciate the tibs, awaze for spice, and shiro along with injera. But if Desta is an entrance to this food, Kategna is the next level up. The storefront itself is humble and tucked away out of sight on Buford Highway. Right upon entering, I smelled burning incense to queue me in that this was different than even my previous experiences. There was booths and small tables. I think you could do a larger party but it'd been to be spread out. It's best for parties of 4. The decor is well loved and there's a counter up front where you can go and pay when you are done. For lunch, they have specials but I decided tk get a Kategna injera as an appetizer and then Yetebaberut (spiced ground beef). Speaking with the waitress running the front of the store, I decide to play it safe and go medium spice and medium for how cooked the beef is. Kategna injera - this is life changing. I enjoy injera but an injera fried in a pan so it's crispy and flaky in different parts and coated in awaze? Wow. This will pretty much be my go to dish every time I come in the store and I will recommend it to anyone I bring. This was so incredibly delicious that I know my words are failing to convey just how good this is. Get it if you are in the store. Yetebaberut - delicious. It's mixed with collard greens and feta cheese and goes well with the basket of injera. I ate half of it (2 injera and half the bowl) and took the rest to eat at lu cb again the next day. All in all, Kategna Ethiopian is the new standard for Ethiopian in Atlanta. If you're planning in going to Desta, I'd steer you here instead. I can't wait to bring my coworker and then my wife and then some family friends (the husband's wife is Ethiopian).

To start, the space is nice, spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated. Dark wood tones, colorful artwork, scenic landscape screensavers on the TV screens near the bar, and Ethiopian music pumping through the speakers (but not so loud that you can't hear the people you're with). The staff is also so sweet with great energy. There's a full bar with great drink prices, and I still need to try the honey wine. One thing to note is that the food is made to order and does take a little time (like 20 minutes or so), but when you dig in and start eating you understand why. I will wait every time, no problem. My favorite dish is the Fish Dullet and my favorite side is the brown lentils. My partner gets the Awaze pretty much every time. If you haven't tried Ethiopian food before, this is your sign to do so. If you already like Ethiopian food, make sure to stop by if you haven't already!

Beautiful decor! Delicious food!…read moreAttentive service! Those are just three of the reasons that Bole received a five star rating. This amazing restaurant located within proximity of the airport is truly a gem in the Metro Atlanta area. The exterior is well lit and encompasses a wraparound porch that has ample space to potentially host a party. Not sure of their outdoor intentions as it was fairly cool when I visited, and look forward to checking out again in the warmer months. Parking is available at no cost, with ADA compliant entry. From the moment I entered, I was impressed with the art in various forms throughout the restaurant. This include included pictures, sculptures, and even a traditional Ethiopian coffee set up. Our party was fairly large and sat to the right of the entrance where tables were pushed together to form one table with chairs on one side and bench on the opposite. I did notice that the other areas had tables that were spaced in the very larger room, as well as a bar area with television and would appear to be an area for music/Dj set up. The food was amazing as well. Amazing is the word of the day regarding ballet! I ordered the Bole Awaze Tims signature platter with lamb, other meat options were available. I also ordered the Timatim fitfit salad, a side of beets and had the hot spice tea as my beverage. The portions were ample and included a basket of njeri, the traditional spongy accompaniment used to eat the contents of your meal. The Timatim salad was extremely good, and a meal in itself. My food was seasoned well, and I enjoyed each and every bite! My tea was delicious too! A traditional us brand teabag was placed on the side for addition, but not necessary at all. The spices which I believe included cardamom were more than sufficient and truly warmed me adequately. Despite having an a large party, our server managed all orders like a champion, and made sure that no one had to guess on menu selections. She provided information in educated in the process. The overall vibe was that everyone was impressed and enjoyed their meals. As previously mentioned, I look forward to returning to share the extremely personable ambience and great food selections with others. Definitely a great location to celebrate a special occasion or for a delicious meal with a long layover.

I had gone down (by Uber) to Atlanta Vintage Books for the afternoon to lounge in their chairs and…read moreread books, soak up the culture and enjoy their resident cats. I had not eaten before I left and after several hours there, I was HUNGRY. Because I had taken Uber, I asked the lady at the counter where was the closest restaurant within walking distance. She directed me across the street - just a hop skip and a jump from the bookstore. to Jebena Bistro. Never having eaten Ethiopian food, I decided to give it a try. As "Noelle" to the right, said, it's a little "hole in the wall". From the outside, it's nothing to write home about. But as soon as I walked in, I knew I was going to enjoy it. First of all, the lady that waited on me was so kind and welcoming. I asked her for her recommendations and she suggested several things. I ended up choosing the vegetable platter. When she brought it out, she explained to me that they eat with their hands. There was no silverware. She showed me the bread that they use to soak up the food with. It was made of a sponge-like substance and was rolled up. The platter was SO good. I quickly filled up and had to get a "to go" box which was filled with food. The amount of food I received for price I paid was ample. It easily made me a second meal at home. This wasn't a fancy place. But the food was very tasty and I will go back in the future.

I have never had the same server(because I come on different times and days), but they are all always so helpful when suggesting things off the menu. This past week, I went with 2 friends and our server was so nice and I totally forgot to catch her name. From the moment we walked in, she was so friendly and helpful offering different combinations on the menu to accomodate for different dietary restrictions while still getting the full experience. She brought out both types of injera for us to taste to see which we wanted our food with and let us keep them. We ordered the habesha salad and lentil sambussas and it was plenty for 3 people to eat for appetizers. The hot sauce the the sambussas were served with was sooo good! For the main coures, we ordered the ethiopian special(fish and lamb) and a mushroom tibs. For sides, we got misir(my fav), difin misir, dinich wot, fosolia, gomen, and tikil gomen. It was all so good, and more than enough for 3 people to eat. My friend ordered an iced coffee with oat milk and after giving it, the server mentioned that if she didn't like it, she would take it back and remake it. My friend said it was fine, but the server noticed that by the end of the meal, she never drank it, so she insisted and took it off the tab since she didn't drink it. For the dessert, there are only 2 things on the menu, but in reality, there are maybe 7- 10 different desserts, you just have to ask your server what they are. We got a kettle of habesha tea and it has about 4 servings, which was perfect for us. For the first hour, we were the only people in the restaurant, but as time progressed, there were about 4- 5 tables with other people and it never felt loud or too busy. There was great music and I know they occasionally will have a live performer playing classics. Overall a 10/10 restaurant and experience. Will definitely be returning.
