Waiter Paul was very helpful with interpreting the Portuguese-only menu and making suggestions. He may have been the only English speaking staff in the place, and I think he was sent my direction by another waiter who spoke less English than I spoke Portuguese. (which is zero)
The small cozy restaurant was filled with what appeared to be an affluent cadre of locals, which should tell potential customers there's something special here. It was clear that the owner was close friends with his customers too.
Since I could not read the menu (sans a bit of translation via Apple's Translate app) I'll skip going through my meal. Suffice to say it was excellent, the highlight being the moist and juicy grilled red grouper.
This was the absolute best grouper I've ever had, along with steamed and roasted vegetables on the side.
Topped off with a bit of white port and a glass of white wine recommended by Paul, and of course a coconut flan dessert, an excellent experience all around that started out with a bit of hesitation given the language barrier. Highly recommend! read more
