Marmo is our fav restaurant in Houston! We've eaten here 4 times and every visit has been exceptional. I am especially fond of the special menus for holidays i.e...Valentine's Day, Mothers Day, etc. Besides amazing food the decor is plush, yet comfortable. It's never overly loud, and the drink menu is so well crafted! We celebrated Mothers Day at Marmo and our waitress from our last visit came to tell us hello and wish us Happy Mother's Day. Came here from Tiktok and some client referrals. They supposedly had these amazing happy hour 5 dollar pastas but it was actually very limited and the portions is like for toddlers. My toddler finished the whole pasta. We ended up having to order from the main menu and I thought it was mediocre. I definitely prefer north Italia. Our server during the time of our visit was rude as soon as we sat down. This confused my friend and I because we had just gotten there, were seated and already the server had an attitude. We didn't pay any attention to it though and just decided to enjoy our lunch despite that. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating on their patio. The inside is decorated nicely. One of the best happy hours in Houston! They have great deals and good portions for happy hour prices. The only thing is service can be a bit scattered and feel a little rushed during happy hour because there's always a wait. Also, we order up and need larger tables for the food, lol. But my go to entrées are the following: Polpette, Rigatoni alla Vodka, Tuscan Fried Chicken, Caesar Salad, and Grilled Shrimp Skewers. They recently took off the Polenta Fries and I'm still sad about it! Note that the happy hour spirits are served on the rocks and if you get a mixer that's an upcharge, which is another negative for me. The ambience is nice, and I really like the décor, though it can get a bit loud at times. Service was excellent as well. A couple of downsides: the restroom is unisex, which I'm not a fan of, and it was disappointing that we still had to wait for a table even with a reservation. Marmo is THE SPOT for happy hour. Seriously, it's packed and runs everyday until 6pm, weekends included. A girlfriend and I decided to stop by on Friday after work around 4:15pm and ended up having to wait for about 20 minutes for an outside table in the shade. The vibe is modern, sophisticated, and classy, such that they even brought table purse hooks for me and my friend so we didn't have to set our bags on the ground. A nice touch. The happy hour menu includes $2 oysters, several bites for $5, $8 and beef tartar and tuna crudo for $15. For drinks they have $6 wines, $5 beer, and $8 select spirits. My girlfriend and I got both the white wine and sparkling wine and both were super light and refreshing, perfect for the hot summer weather. For food, I'm a huge oyster girl and ended up getting a half dozen of the oysters in addition to the shrimp skewers. The oysters were tasty but not the best that I've ever had. The server unfortunately didn't tell me where they were sourced from but they were on the larger side, almost heading in the direction of a gulf oyster (gasp!). I prefer some of the smaller oysters with a more salty, brine taste. These were still good though. The shrimp skewers were also tasty and definitely something that I would order again. No complaints on taste, however the serving sizes were on the smaller end. We visited Marmo for a much needed date night after a long work week. Arriving at 9:30pm, the restaurant was still buzzing and packed. There was a pianist playing and singing in the bar area with just the right volume to become background music in the dining room. Alex, our server, was friendly and knowledgeable with the right amount of attention while letting us have an enjoyable meal. We started with the very good charred octopus that was served on a cannellini bean humus with celery and Fresno peppers. Then we moved on to a half portion of the squid ink pasta with crab and uni. This was the star of the night. For the entree, we shared a 10 ounce wagyu ribeye that was very good, well-cooked to medium rare and paired it with sides of mushrooms and crispy, lightly smashed potatoes. For drinks we had a nice barolo and finished with espresso martinis. To wrap everything up the GM dropped by just to see how we were and we had a pleasant conversation. Great new place! We started with the Calamari and Tuscon Fried Chicken. The Calamari was my favorite, but not your usual fried Calamari. For entree I had the Halibut and it was delicious!!!!! The have two size options. Piccolo and grande. (Big or small) I'm a hungry girlie so no small portions over here. Now that carrot salad is a no for me 0/10 wouldn't reccomend. I was trying to add some veggies to the carbs but those complex carb hit on nothing. Now my spaghetti though! So good and well worth although it came with too much cheese for my lactose gut. My friend and I went to Marmo for my late birthday dinner. We've had Marmo on our radar for awhile and are glad we finally made it. We were 30 min late due to the rain and traffic but had no issue pushing back our reservation. We were just sad we missed happy hour. The restaurant itself gives a warm and inviting feel. There was a pianist playing modern hits which was nice as we enjoyed dinner. All the servers we encountered were welcoming and friendly. First, we were provided bread and parmesan cheese. We love bread and cheese lol. I ordered the Andiamo cocktail (tequila+passion fruit) loved it. For the appetizer we ordered the blue crab bruschetta. It was delicious. The Squid Ink Campanelle was a 10/10: inky, briny richness with a satisfying chew, those ruffled edges catching every bit of sauce in all the right ways. Tonight was my second ever dine-in here, but my 3rd visit including one takeout on my second time almost two months ago. Like my first visit ever, I ordered the Vodka Rigatoni on the patio instead of inside in the daytime like over a year ago when I discovered this place. Very delicious, very fresh pasta, very comforting entree. I also got the large portion which was worth it and the sauce to noodle ratio was great too. The flavor profile was a bit spicy and tangy. The sauce wasn't too thick or creamy, but not watery either. The little basil pieces added a nice, smooth herby touch to the rest. You could tell onions were cooked into the meal in a very well-blended fashion. The service from my server was very attentive, welcoming, friendly and efficient. I still need to get their bolognese and a dessert in the future. If their Prime NY Strip is recommended, then that eventually as well. read more

I want to preface that I have worked a server job before, so I can understand the struggles of these servers during the HH rush on top of the Houston heat. Marmo only offers HH 3pm-6pm on their bar and patio, with their indoor bar and shaded patio filling up quick, my party got sat in the sun, but we were willing to sit out there. The hostess, and I believe general manager, Amanda was super sweet, friendly, and chatted with us while she found us a table. However, my server (I didn't catch his name) was not the most pleasant. Upon greeting us he never smiled once and just seemed to have a very impatient and condescending attitude. Okay strike 1, but I kept that to myself, and then he continued to explained the menu and grabbed our waters. When he came back to grab our orders, we had questions about how the drinks work, but he just continued his attitude, and honestly the comments were unnecessary. When asking about the cocktails, he said "I mean I can't stand here and list all the cocktails", ... okayyy... and then we put in our food order and still with no smile, "Oh, I thought y'all said y'all were hungry". It was just super shady and uncomfortable. I understand it's tough with it being a usual upscale restaurant and people coming in for the "cheap" HH, which decrease his opportunity for higher tips, but he could have just been friendly -- that's basic hospitality. Anyways, the food came out, and while presentation was super cute and aesthetic, the food was just mid. The meatballs, in my opinion, were too lean and dry. The vodka rigatoni was al dente and probably my favorite dish. The white fish was great, but the potato chips looked borderline burnt. At first, I thought this was just my experience, but my friend went the next day and got served by another server, but had the same experience with her party. She said that their server was extremely rude and condescending, barely giving them attention and it was to the point where it made the whole experience unenjoyable. I really wanted to enjoy this place more, and I honestly had a great time with my friends, but the service was just a major con. I hope that marmo can do better and hire servers that actually enjoy their job and helping people. I hope it gets better, but for now I won't be visiting anytime soon. read more

Checked out the very raved about happy hour and overall it was a chaotic experience. The food was good which redeemed the situation. The vodka rigatoni and meatballs were standouts, polenta fries and Caesar salad were also good. The tuna tartar was good but tiny and not worth the $15 price at all. They only do HH in the bar/lounge and outside, and they only had room left outside when we came. It was unbearably hot and they don't have anything set up to shade you from the sun. Definitely not ideal for the summer. The servers were also quite confused and brought us over food meant for different tables several times. I had lunch today at Marmo. I've been before, but never for dinner, and I've heard the evening atmosphere is fantastic. Speaking of lunch though, let me say this is a great option if you're in or near the Montrose area. The restaurant is beautifully designed with lots of natural light and offers a can't-miss Italian-American menu. Dishes are beautifully presented and wonderfully executed, all enhanced by charismatic service. I've tried several items from their menu, but what stands out most to me is the way they handle seafood. Perfectly cooked. I usually ask for any sauce on the side when ordering fish, just in case, and with the Red Snapper, both the fish and the sauce (which I tried but didn't use) were outstanding. If you're looking for another solid option, the octopus is impeccable. I haven't made it to dessert yet, but I'm sure they'll be just as impressive -- looking forward to it next time. First time at Marmo and everything was good for the most part. I got there around 5pm on a Sunday to meet up with my friend and her partner. Parking was easy (valet is complimentary) and I walked right in. I stopped at the host stand and let them know I was meeting friends, hoping they would guide me through the restaurant to find them but all three of them at the stand sort of just starred at me in what I'm gathering was a state of confusion. I had to peak around the host stand, to the back of the restaurant, where I spotted them. As I sat, the waiter came over and provided me with a menu. I immediately knew I was going to order the red fish and for a drink, they were able to make me a mocktail (forgot the name). As we waited for our food and chatted a bit, I was able to take in the ambiance of the restaurant which was really warm, yet classy. It's not a huge space but there's seating at the bar, several high tops around the bar and a dining area that could maybe fit 50+. The outside patio is rather large and a great option for when the weather isn't blazing. Our food came quickly but the drinks were slow to come out for some reason. I know the bar area was quite busy because of happy hour so that could have been it. The red fish was not a filet but the whole fish and it was huge. Delicious nonetheless and filled me up. We also got desserts (tiramisu and the chocolate cake) but they messed up my order and had to make me another one. That also took a long time to come out but it was great. I love salads but this one was greatly lacking flavor. Happy Hour is only in the bar area and on the patio so choose wisely. I was reminder that they do not take happy hour reservations so select patio or bar area when making your reservation if you want to secure a spot. Sun started to creep in later in the evening but for the most part pretty shaded with fans. Located in the Montrose collective so you have the valet fight to deal with but at least it's free! I am OBSESSED with this place!! I went for happy hour with my friend the other day and it was amazing. I love the incredibly low prices for happy hour as well as the ambiance. It's a very cute spot especially for catching up with friends or a date night! Our server was great too, was constantly coming over to fill up whatever when needed and also was good about asking if we needed things and checking in every now and then. They had the perfect balance of checking in but giving space so it wasn't too much! Now to the food. The food was phenomenal.
