I've been to the Marlow's Tavern at Mall of Georgia a few times and the service was awful there, so we decided to try out the Duluth location. This was our first time at the Duluth location and I cannot say how amazing the experience was. Our server, Nate, was amazing. His recommendations, humor, and genuine hospitality made our experience even better. He even gave us a few ideas to go for night caps as well! We came in on the 4th because of the burger special and left finding our new Friday "date night." Can't wait to come back! We will definitely be asking sit with him once again!! read more

I am frequently in the Duluth area and this place is my go to for a good meal. I have had salaxs, fish, chicken and the shrimp and grits. All good and service is great as well. I often sit at the bar as I am dining alone, bartenders are quick and keep your beverage supplied in a timely manner. Only 4 stars as sometime food seems "pre prepped " so less fresh than I like. read more

As this was my first time at this restaurant I always start with three stars. For every good thing related to my food experience a star is added, and for every bad thing a star is subtracted. Here are the good and the bad from my lunch experience. Good: 1. The service was excellent. They were very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. However this was the only good thing about my experience. Bad: I order the wagu burger with the shrimp chowder. 1. The menu says all burgers comes with lettus and tomatoes, but all I received was a plain double cheese burger. 2. I should have asked the server how many percent of wagu was actually in that burger. It tasted like a plain double cheese burger. 3. The shrimp chowder was way too salty. It tasted like frozen soup from the bag, and it has been on the warmer too long. 4. The last one was the worst offense. This place does not have a single usable spoon. It all started with the spoon that I was given for my soup. It looked like it was abused through the garbage disposal. There were no smooth surface left on that spoon. I thought twice about using the spoon, but decided to give to a try after I made sure the spoon was clean. That was a bad idea. The rough spoon left an unpleasant texture on my tongue as I tasted the soup. At first I thought I was given the only bad spoon in the restaurant. Boy was I sadly mistaken. I was with a group of 18. Each one of us orderes desert and 18 spoons were brought out on plates. Two spoons were still dirty with food stuck on them, and the rest looked like my garbage disposal spoon. Really?!?! My experience was an ok one. We ordered the calamari with the sweet chili sauce on the side as an appetizer and it was delicious. Everything went down hill from there. After we were almost done eating our appetizer, the waitress comes over and asks have we put our order in yet? I said "what? We put our order in for our food and drinks at the same time that we had ordered our appetizer. " the waitress says" oh. What did you order as she shuffles through her book of orders" We tell her what we ordered and she happens to find our order.Then she proceeds to go put in our order. When we asked where are our drinks, she says" oh the bartender is moving a little slow tonight I will go check on them . It took a total of 45 mins from the time we had this conversation with waitress to het our food and drink. I had the black and blue burger that was completely flavorless. My friend had the crawfish and shrimp po boy sandwich and she loved it. I honestly would not go back because of the service. As for the food, burgers are probably not their strong point, try something else. read more

Met my mom for dinner tonight in her neck of the woods....well, kinda. I'd been to this Marlow's one other time, and in addition to thinking my picky eater mom would like it, I was kind of excited to go back. I remember the food being excellent! Again, I got the fish tacos. 2 for 2 in my book. SO delicious! On a whim last time I asked if I could get the asparagus fries as my side, even though it's on the appetizer list and not on the side bar, and the waitress enthusiastically replied, "No problem!" (You may recall my love for all things friend AND green from my last review.) So I went for it again, and got the exact same thing I had last time. Equally as delicious, equally as satisfying. In addition, we got the firecracker shrimp as a starter. While they were tasty little shrimp nuggets, they weren't anything special. My mom had the crab cake appetizer as an entree, and she wasn't impressed (please note my comment about her being a picky eater above...so we'll take that with a grain of salt). The porch is great if the weather is dry and not too hot/cold, and the service was fabulous both times. The specialty cocktails are a little scary (last time, a friend had the grapefruit cocktail and I had the cucumber gin-neither were great, but hers was better), but there's plenty of beer and wine choices to keep you occupied. If I'd known the food at Marlow's was so good, I would've eaten at one of the in-town locations long ago, rather than just reserving it as a Saturday night drinking destination! read more

I would probably rate this a 2.5. We came on a Saturday night. We were worried it would be packed, but were pleased to be seated right away. This was our first time here. On the plus side, the servers are very polite. That is about as nice as I can get about this place. We had 4 in our party (2 adults and 2 kids). We didn't order anything fancy. 4 sandwiches basically (3 burgers and a french dip). Took an hour to get our food. Could not understand why. Although the others food was somewhat warm, my burger was cold, as well as my fries. What a disappointment after such a long wait for the food and such hype we had heard about this place. We went there for lunch on a Saturday at about 1pm. We were seated quickly with no wait, although right by the kitchen. We had a tavern burger and the shrimp and grits, both were exceptionally good. The only downside was a very long wait for our food after our order was placed, it was over 30 minutes. We love this place and will return to try more things from the menu! read more

I have NEVER had a bad visit, and I'm a regular!! The food, drinks and service are second to none, and I love the ambience! It is sometimes too cold when the A/C is running; thus, bring a sweater! But if it isn't too hot, the patio is so much fun. Last night, I had the "Marlow's Melt." I honestly eat very little red meat, but I wanted to try something different. This place is a study in contradictions. First, I'm not sure it can be called a tavern. The food is a little too nice, the menu has a few too many oddly place quotation marks, the drink menu is a little too weird and very incomplete, and it's just not a good fit for the "tavern" concept. It was a bit of a culture shock to enter and see that it's really more of a bistro bar than a tavern. Noise level is pretty high. The prices are mostly appropriate, though $11 for a small plate of seafood "nachos" probably would have infuriated me. The food is actually incredibly tasty. I split an order of truffled Parmesan fries with my boyfriend and had the chicken panini. The fries were tasty, but definitely not worth any more than the price charged. The panini was actually pretty darn tasty. The thick slice of fresh mozzarella was a creamy, unobtrusive buddy that balanced out the strong (but delightful) basil aioli and the strongly grilled chicken. (I tasted gas in the charring, but eh.) The bread was delicious and the spinach fresh. For a side, I ordered the white cheddar grit cakes. They were pretty darn tasty, with a thick creamy center and a good crusty, crunchy outside. Thick and filling, like good grits should be. Sadly, the service was mediocre (our drink glasses were consistently empty and it took a while) and the ambiance was kind of terrible. Maybe on a nice day, I could enjoy the food on the patio. Perhaps then they'd have sweet tea that didn't taste like watery coffee. I'm truly saddened that the food was so amazing because I really hated the atmosphere of the restaurant that much. Also, the server didn't ask how to split the check (we were dining with my brother and his girlfriend) and simply assumed, giving a weak, dumb smile of "please don't hate me, I'm CUTE" which was deeply annoying. Bottom line, the lame attempts at upscale prestige ruined what could have been an otherwise fantastic place to eat. Good food, but eating it in the restaurant was a chore. read more

Yesterday was the second time in a month that I have visited Marlow's at this location. Unfortunately, this is the second time that I have felt that the waitstaff has been with attitude and almost condescending. I felt like my presence was a mere inconvenience to them both times. The common factor here is that one of the bartenders was the same both visits. Her name isn't on the receipt (just "Bar 1"). I used to frequent this place in the past before I moved away. Eight months ago, I returned to the area, but it seems a change has taken place. I came in yesterday to watch a football game, and left in the middle of it to go elsewhere to finish watching. Took the family here for lunch today. Everything was good and the service was excellent. We sat in the heated outdoor patio and it was actually too warm. Soft drinks were kept filled. First off, the atmosphere at Marlow's is chill and welcoming. The combination of low lighting and low volume music and well positioned flatscreen tv's allow for a comfortable backdrop to your dining experience. Our server Wes, was friendly and attentive. First timer here and Wes arranged for a complimentary appetizer, classy Wes, much appreciated. The Marlow Melt was calling my name from the menu and it did not disappoint. I paired my feast with a Jekyll Cooter Brown American Brown Ale, excellent selection. I must say I was pleased with myself for ordering such a satisfying meal. I can't take all the credit, however, as delicious as my dining partner said the chicken panini with side salad was, I could tell he wanted a take back after looking at the hand cut house fries and grilled onions and cheese falling from my cattle. I'll say this, if you are in the area and don't make it a point to get your fabulous toukus into Marlow's, you are weird and not in a good way. Enjoy humans! read more

We usually love our Marlow's on Satellite. My family and I were looking forward to a 4th of July dinner there late this afternoon before going to see Despicable Me 3 with our boys. We gave ourselves more than an 1 1/2 to eat before the movie. We were excited because it was dead there when we walked in, we were hoping Dawn was working because she is fantastic...unfortunately she was not. And it was all down hill from there. Katie started out okay but once she took our app order, she clearly forgot that she did not take our dinner order. When it clicked as we were looking for her, she said they got so busy she was running behind. There were more than enough servers and managers for the number of customers that started coming in, but it was still chaos there. From the time she took our order to when we finally got it was unacceptable...about 35 minutes. In total we were now there just over an hour, and we started getting nervous about getting to our pre-paid movie on time. My wife didn't get cheese on her prime rib Philly and her beef was over done (typically this sandwich is the freakin bomb and big reason we go there). We ordered one of my boys a Kids meal and he asked for root beer and were not informed it was a $3.50 bottle until he asked for another. An overall mess even the guy sitting in front of us had to have his food remade, and the couple next to us were frustrated that their server was non-existent. Incredibly disappointing...sadly we will not be in any hurry to return. If and when we do we and should the experience be better...I'll update this review. read more

Stopped in for dinner and say on the porch! 90 degrees outside but the fans kept it really cool! Waitress was immediately at my table going over the menu (I was a newbie). She suggested the red sangria so I went with it. Usually sangrias are a tad too sweet for me but she assured me I would like this one and I did! Turns out they use agave instead of sugar and it really makes a difference. I went with the bison burger with bacon cheddar tomatoe and lettuce (another recommendation from the waitress). It was fantastic. Really tender and juicy and the bacon was a fabulous addition. The bbq sauce was a tad spicy for me but ketchup is spicy to me. The only reason I took off a star is because I paid extra for the jumbo asparagus spears and only received 3 spears. I know it may be petty but if I am paying extra it should be worthwhile. All in all great atmosphere, fast service and really really good food!! read more
