Bad experience: Ordered wings for the Superbowl, waited 1 hr. plus, for an order I placed 2 days earlier...I was told to pick up at 4:30...didn't get order until 5:40. The women working the order pick up was extremely rude, to all the people picking up orders. When I asked if I could get a status... She complained how she didn't want to be there, couldn't go into the kitchen and check on them... Stood there playing on her phone and stated how she could be "working" at "her other businesses." I had to actually step back for a minute and digest the way she acted... I approached her again and apologize for being too demanding and asked again for her to give me a status after a 45 minute wait....finally she put her phone done and checked on the order. Here's the skinny...Monday nights 50 cent jumbo wings and Taco Tuesdays rock. Pretty good craft beer selection and 40 flavors of wings is a pretty good deal. Service is hit or miss, I frequent this place a few times a month. I wouldn't go for dinner or an event, but to chill, drink beer and eat good wings, its not bad. Have to say this has been by far the best restaurant where looking at the menu I was stumped on what to order!!! And I'm not talking about the wing menu "150 flavors ". My wife and I ordered a variety of apps and they were absolutely amazing!!! For our wings we ordered a dozen 6) jack daniels and 6) bang bang and well bang bang is now my favorite wing. I am absolutely disappointed in this place was recommended from a family member for the wing.Walked in to a wait to chairs one on top of another totally cramped and uncomfortable.Then waiting a half hour to finally ask for a server. The food was not cooked right my reubenator was disgusting tasted like it was cooked on a burnt old panini press my husbands wing were sweet and gross also his burger was overlooked. For shear number of types of wings, Marley's is outstanding. They've won several wing contests in the region with 5 or so of the over 100 styles they have. To me though, they lacked a bit of seasoning. The wings themselves were well made with a nice crisp crunch and moist meat, but the flavor was a bit flat due to the lack of salt. The glazes on each were tasty though. Inside is an unapologetic dive bar atmosphere with a huge bar. Really disappointed, I also wanted to really like this place. To be fair I came in with a lot of family after Apple picking for dinner which was a crowd of 20, but it took us far longer then we expected to be fed. Wings were slow to come out first, drinks took some time to be filled basically once I was done with my meal and my cheeseburger was charcoal black for sure. It wasn't even busy when we came. She also gave us the wrong beers and then messed up our checks at the end. If the wings weren't so good, I wouldn't return based on the service alone. Stopped in here for a few dirty martinis and a New Jersey steak sandwich yesterday evening (4pm, during happy hour). The sandwich was a tad under my expectations as the meat was just a little on the light side, but the roll was good and it was damn tasty, though I might ask for raw onions next time. The fries were epic. The menu is extensive and many of the dishes were appealing to my eye. I sat at the bar to imbibe and take in the general ambience as the space is very cozy. Though there are tv's, they are small and don't grab the eye so I wouldn't recommend making this the place to "watch the big game," but I don't think that's what Marley's is about. I was so disappointed with my last visit that I don't think I will be returning any time soon. My roommate and I decided to drive from Morristown to show our boyfriends one of our favorite wing spots. It was 7:00 on a Sunday, the place was dead, and we were told that they were already out of boneless wings... unfortunately this is the FOURTH time I have been to Marley's when this has happened. We each put in an order of 10 bone-in wings, and were then told that they only had 2 orders of bone-in wings left. We wound up sharing the garlic parmesan wings, which were not garlic parmesan at all. There was a wad of mozzarella cheese dumped on the top and absolutely no garlic. The other order was chicken cordon bleu, which had zero cheese on it and was covered with another wad of bacon bits (the menu said prosciutto). To supplement the lack of wings that night, we ordered a couple burgers medium rare. Each came out well done... was the kitchen sleeping that night? Why ask for a temperature when you're not going to cook it properly? I've been to Marleys several times before and have never had an experience quite like this. Usually the food takes FOREVER to come out, but what can I expect when everyone is ordering all sorts of wings? But to run out of wings on an early Sunday night is totally unacceptable (especially during football season). read more

I want to love this place, I live 10 minutes away, and their food is good. But the service is god awful. I have eaten here probably 8 times in the past year, and it's hit or miss (mostly miss) with the service. We usually go for lunch and the dining room has never been full. After reading other's reviews, I too have had appetizers come out with the meals. I mean c'mon people, this is restaurant service 101. On our last visit, after waiting 40 minutes for our lunch to come out, we waved down who appeared to be the manager and left after only paying for our appetizer. He offered to comp our lunches but we were just done waiting any longer. On another occasion, we received our bill and got charged for every refill of unsweetened iced tea ($12 worth), which is free refills. Unfortunately we didn't notice it until after we paid on our credit card. They really need to do a better job of training their staff or hire people who actually care about their job. Very laid back place and certainly unassuming. Skip all the foreplay and go right to the wing menu. It's an entire sheet, plus specials, totaling around 140 varieties. There's so many to choose from tangy, sweet, mild, spicy, and make you regret life choices hot. Service was prompt and our waiter was very cool. He was smart enough to bring us pitchers of water. Surprisingly my favorite of the 12 varieties I had happen to be peach whiskey, sounds odd but it works. Also fun to intermingle different sauces. Did I mention they have award winning wings? We used to go fairly regularly but food was inconsistent. Wings are the best thing to order, never disappointed. Worse here is the service. We have never had good service there but we were always patient, going with other couples, we would pass the time socializing with our friends. The last time we were there was the last straw tho....waitress was beyond rude for no apparent reason. My husband's soup was served cold (we had never sent any food back prior to this) and we could hear her loudly in the kitchen mockingly saying we were complaining about the cold soup. When it comes to the food hands down my favorite choice in Hackettstown. They have over a hundred different choices for wing sauces/toppings and no matter what you choose it's going to be incredible. They also have a great alcohol selection. The only reason why I can't give them a 5/5 is the crowd that is often there. I understand they can't control what people choose to enter the establishment but I don't think I've ever been there when there hasn't been someone obnoxiously drunk yelling or when there was a either very strong verbal fight or even physical out back. Awesome wings and well over 100 flavors to choose from. Some of them sounded ridiculous and don't know how they would work. We got some garlic flavored ones and also some that had old bay seasoning on them. The wings were big and really delicious. I also decided that it would be cool to order the hottest wings on the menu. I'm no stranger to hot food and haven't found a wing that was so hot that I couldn't eat it, until these. They are appropriately named "embalming fluid" and they are pure fire. From the second it touches your tongue you can tell they are hot, then the heat grows and grows. No amount of beer or cold liquid can cool you down. Personally I would not recommend these as it burned off all of my taste buds and ruined my appetite. As far as the restaurant goes our service was pretty poor. We ordered everything to come at the same time we got 10 wings right away, and then the rest of our food game probably 20 minutes later. read more

After hearing a ton about this place, finally went there with the husband on a Saturday afternoon. From some of the reviews, I was expecting good food, but poor service. I was pleasantly surprised. Place wasn't busy, service was prompt, wings were delicious -- we tried the hot wings and PB + Pepper Jelly wings. The wings themselves were quite meaty, and the sauces were good! We also ordered burgers -- I had The Bomb burger. Burgers were piled high, also quite good. I would certainly go back, even if it is to try more of the wing flavors. read more

I feel bad for Hackettstown as I've yet to come across any restaurants above 2 stars in the area. Gotham is no exception. First time I went for dinner my friend got sick and my meal was rather forgettable. Second time just went for drinks and apps. Service was slow and messed up the order. As one review indicates it's a neighborhood joint and I suppose the regulars overlook such things and know which menu items to stay away from. Others I've asked about this place talk about only going in for drinks but staying away from food as well. Bar area is a bit cramped and dining room area is nothing special. If there were better competish I don't think this place will survive. Never thought I'd say this but even Applebee's beats MGG. Not even Batman himself could rescue Gotham in this case. read more

Waited over an hour for a plate of wings and a cup of soup. Food finally showed up, one wing was.. Black on the inside. Never seen anything like that before. Told the waitress, she apologized and walked away. Finally tracked down the manager and the issue was resolved, but it was a shitty experience from start to finish. The place is musty and old and if your going there for anything beside alcohol or standard bar food, your wasting your time. Also, they have the worst fries EVER. Okay I came to this place about two years ago two times. At that time I had the worst food ever. I did not think I would ever come back. This Monday my husband and I tried to go to every restaurant we like and they were all closed do to a snow storm. With no other options we ended up at Marley's. I was not expecting much. We liked the food so much that we split a burger. Wow the burger was so good. Hand formed 10 oz burger (NOT a cheap frozen patty) and the pretzel bun was a nice touch. I think that you will like the food if you stick to the things they do well. NOW to the things I still hate about Marley's..... A plea to the owners please please please!!!!! get rid of the carpet in the bar. Any one who has ever worked in a restaurant will tell you how nasty a bar floor looks at the end of the night. Because you have carpet the place is dark and has a smell. You can go to home depot and pick up click lock flooring now a days for less then $1.00 a square foot. That one move would change the whole look of the place and give you one more star. Over all if you are looking for a nice looking place, go to the Irish competition across the street. Just do not expect good food there. If you can put up with nasty carpet and an out dated look then the food at Marley's is pretty good. I will go back. read more

Went last night with another family and their kids. First off the place was freezing inside. We actually had to keep our coats on lol. Many around us also. We ordered some drinks and Appetizers first (Wings, Fried Pickles). Their beer list, I must say, is very good - I will give them that. The wings came out and they were also very good. Very meaty and good sauce. Fried pickles were just ok, I thought they were a bit too greasy-fried or not. Onto to entree's. We ordered simple... I had a black and blue burger that was supposed to be medium rare but came out closer to well. The fried onions on top were cold and tough, like they had been made much earlier and left to sit. My friend ordered a simple Reuben and he never got it until the rest of us were done eating so at that point we just refused it. No one was impressed with their entrees at all and again, simple stuff. Bottom line if you are going just for beer or wings, you will be happy, otherwise I'd stay away from anything on the menu and bundle up if you go! read more

Only did takeout, mild wings, garlic parm wings and fries. We all loved the fries, which I had heard were "the best", I thought they were VG, better than Buffalo Wild Wings, Enzo's and other places that I've tried, but we like Sonny's II the best so far. Marley's Wings are a very good size, larger than Sonny's, but their mild wings were a bit hotter than Sonny's mild wings. (I did Marley's on Wed night and Sonny's on Thurs, just to have a current comparison.) I will try some of Marley's other varieties, as we all liked the garlic parm, and I want to try other items on their menu too. Just a side note, Marley's wings reheated nicely in the toaster oven, using the tin pans that they came in; Sonny's is now using styrofoam though. Marley's = $10.95 for 10 large wings, Sonny's = $8.99 for 11 smaller wings. Still looking for the best wings, LOL. read more

You must have the chicken wings at Marley's! I am not a fan of hot/spicy wings that make me sweat, so I garlic parmesan wings and they were some of the best wings I have ever had. Also, they must purchase a better grade of chicken wings from their supplier since they are larger and full of meat! A great find and recommend people to try them out. read more

I placed the pre-order on Thursday, and called to confirm Sunday morning that they had the order and we were set. They said everything was fine. We went to pick it up and they were way behind and said we'd have to wait. After an hour we were told they had not ordered enough wings so they ran out. Also that they were going to the local supermarket to buy more. They couldn't even give me an estimate of when I would get the wings or where I was in line. It was now 6pm so I canceled my order.
