Supposed to be an old fashioned....looks more like a shot!

This is probably a one and done for us! The restaurant is quite lovely but the experience fell flat. We ordered an old fashioned and it was literally two sips. The food was also not memorable. We tried the lobster roll and the French dip and it was tasty but a lot of bread and just not a do over. Really hate this wasn't better. It's very close to my apartment and I would like to put it on the rotation but sadly not.

After my wife's hair appointment, I made reservations for Saturday brunch at Mark's off Madison. Now Mark's has been on my radar for a while. They make a lasagna that looks insane and a burger that's equally off the charts. Well all bets were off when we saw the brunch menu. We have reservations and were seated at a quiet table. It's a beautiful fall Saturday afternoon. I'd like to sit outside off Madison (see what I did there?) but my wife has a new doo. We're looking over the menu and zero on Straussie's Smoked Fish Platter. House cured lox, Nova, Sable and Whitefish salad?? We ordered two Aperol Spritz's to get the party started. Do you know how you go to a Chinese restaurant and they put noodles on the table? Well MoM puts out bagels for the table. Such a baller move Mark! The smoked fish, we have never had sable this high quality before. It was smoky, buttery and just melt in your mouth delicious. The white fish salad and nova, slayed as well! We left the restaurant feeling so good! Imagine what the lasagna tastes like? Mark, we shall return. 10 Yelp stars.

Stopped here on a Saturday night while in the area for work. I had a reservation for 7:30 and was able to make it by 7pm. Darkly lit place, casual dress with some fancy decor. The host was up against in with juggling door dash drivers, being on the phone non-stop, and seating parties. In all that, I managed to have 4 sets of people walk right in front of me waiting and get seated. No big deal, but a little more attention should be paid to who is standing in front of you. So after that, and a bar seating area was filled in front of me - I was sat at the bar directly in the way of those coming in and out of the restaurant. The bartender was very prompt and nice - and I ordered an Old Fashioned and a Diet Coke. OF was good - standard issue. I started with a wedge salad, which was good and the normal execution you would expect. They also served a three piece of table bread which was regular, sourdough, and an onion type of focaccia. The first two were good but I didn't try the onion one. For my entree, I ordered the chicken parmesan. This is served with penne vodka and the cutlet is served with a tri-color sauce topping. It was very good. I think the best part was that upon order the food came out super quickly and was hot and fresh. I would come back and recommend this place.

Been coming here for the last 4 years (since 2021), the restaurant is situated as the name states, right off of Madison Ave., across the street from the famed Madison Square Park. There is outdoor dining with two columns of tables outside, indoor isn't bad either, you just hear people louder. Th owner/chef used to be big cheese at Barney's restaurant before they shut down, the store filed for bankruptcy, not the restaurant. The vibe is American fine dining with elements of Jewish and Italian cuisine. You'll also find their coveted lasagna alongside bagels and ceviche. Please order the Belgian Fries with your meal, it is absolutely worth it. Everything I've had has been great. My favorite right now is their lasagna, it truly is to die for, the pizza is equally delicious, not your typical restaurant slice...M.O.M. Also has the best donuts on the East Side, I haven't tried their bagels yet. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The host is OK, I've noticed he can have a chip on his shoulder at times so don't be snooty. Overall will be coming back as long as their food remains consistent, which it is. I don't recommend ordering their takeout, it takes away from the quality, trust me and just go there.

Stopped at Mark's at the end of resturant week and what a treat to be able to try this establishment at a discount price. We had to try the famous lasanga..it was perfection..sauced well, layered well, and deelish. The apps were usual flare and the crab cake with fries was just ok...the spotlight was the lasagna. The resturant is lovely and staff was exceptional

The burger is actually DELISH - thick, juicy, toasted bun, and topped with so many crispy onions!!!!!! However I didn't care for the lasagna & it also was kinda cold; truffle fries also weren't crispy & were just ok. I'd 100% come back for the burger!

Best bread basket I've had. So many fun varieties.

Marks is really just a fancy diner and I mean that in the best way possible. The menu is varied but limited. Whatever they do they do well. We started with the bread basket which was one of the best I've ever had. The bagels were the best part. I wasn't expecting this to be as good as it was. We then shared a pig in the blanket appetizer. They were the best I've ever had but the $30+ price tag was a little bit crazy to me. That being said we really did enjoy the hot dog. For dinner we shared a Belgian fries and lasagna. The fries were perfect. Crispy, thick. The lasagna was very good. I don't think it was the best ever. I had to add some salt (which I never do). Once it was salted the flavors popped a little more. I'd still go back to Marks and if I lived there I'd be there often.

The food was very good. I had the brisket sandwich/ i forget the name), very reminiscent of a french onion dip sandwich. the gravy was thick and tasteful and the brisket was cooked very well. only thing would've made this better would've been maybe mozzarella cheese on it like typical onion dip sandwiches. The bread they give out was very flavorful and soft. The service was very good, they routinely came around to make sure needs were met. Ambience was cool, the place was crowded and gave a sort of modern trendy vibe.

The lasagna here is TO DIE FOR! It really reminded me of eating at homemade fish at my grandmas. The sauce, the meat, the lasagna pasta..everything was perfection. We also got the Belgian fries and the chicken parm. The portions are very generous so 2 entrees and one appetizer was enough for our party of 3. We also got a bottle of the Albariño. The service was also exceptional. Very attentive and friendly. Even if you just come for the lasagna, you won't regret it!

Lasagna is very good! Worth trying especially if you are in the neighborhood! Came during restaurant week. Probably should've ordered the smaller portion from that menu. I could barely get through half of the portion.

    Lasagne Della Nonna
    Saasha G.

The lasagna was amazing! Went for restaurant week which gives you a taste of everything but the real reason I went was for the lasagna that I've been wanting to try for a while now and it did not dissipate, it was soft and creamy and meaty but that pesto gives it good balance as well . I also tried the waygu pigs in the blanket and they were beefy and good. The crabcake was a little underwhelming as an entree it's best as an appetizer imo.

Mark's Off Madison 41 Madison Ave. New York, NY 10010 Assorted Bread Old Fashioned Wedge Salad Lasagne Della Nonna "Devour" Chicken Parmesan Old Fashioned Lemon Ice Box Cake Local Peach Upside Down Cake Literally located off Madison Ave (hence the catchy name) is a restaurant specializing in Italian dishes. It's definitely a place to treat M.O.M. (No pun intended) The assorted table bread is made in house consisting of focaccia, sour dough and semolina. Another nutritious starter is the wedge salad. The bleu cheese crumble and bacon bits are definitely the best part. Mark's lasagna is definitely one of his signature entrees. In between the multiple flat sheets of pasta are veal, beef, and pork Bolognese. The creamy sauce is the backbone to this dish! Another classic Italian dish that always catches my eye is the chicken Parmesan, which I certainly "devoured." I must acknowledge the attractive artistic appearance of the "M" insignia written in pesto. Regardless of how full you feel, there's always room for sweets. The lemon cake was definitely my favorite. It had a tart, lemony flavor with a heaping side of blueberry sauce. The upside peach pie was literally upside down with the crust on the bottom and fruit on top. Regardless of whether it's right side up or upside down, the taste was still the same and I cleared this dessert! Aside from these heavenly dishes, the service was phenomenal. From my friendly welcome into the restaurant by Host Garret and being promptly served by Marcos, Muquit and Freddy, I'll definitely be back to try their other tasty dishes! #marksoffmadison #wedgesalad #lasagnedellanonna #lasagna #chickenparmesan #lemoniceboxcake #lemoncake #peachupsidedowncake #peach

Not Your Nonna's Lasagna, but the Pasta Shines If you're expecting traditional lasagna loaded with cheese, this one might surprise you. It's a more refined take, with not super cheesy, but the pasta was exceptional. You can tell it's made with care. Service was a little slow, especially by NYC standards where things tend to move at lightning speed. Our server was kind, just not very attentive. While the rest of the staff didn't bring much energy to the table, the owner was incredibly warm and welcoming--which really stood out and made the experience feel more personal. Overall, not a must-return for me, but worth trying if you appreciate quality pasta and a charming host.

Do they have gluten free bread?

No , they don't sell gluten free

I am confused, is this a bagel place? It is listed as one

They make delicious bagels each day, so it's a great spot to get one or two, they also have a fabulous restaurant with delicious food.

What is the outdoor set up? Are there heaters at every table on the patio?

There are heaters over the tables against the exterior wall of the restaurant. There's another row of unheated tables. No COVID huts.

What hours is the takeout counter open? When can I get bagels until?

The bagel take out counter opens at 9am Saturday & Sunday and is open until 4pm Thank you!

Particularly the penne funghi is to die for. Tried the linguine vongole clam pasta for the first time and was pretty good as well! Just wish there was more sauce and the clams were the tiniest size I've seen which was disappointing and to make matters worse, a good 1/3 of them were empty. Besides that, the meal was delightful and still great value as it was delicious with huge portions! Love! However, service at this particular branch is nowhere near as good as other branches. I understand it's busy and it's always incredibly crowded with people and cramped seating and loud music/voices but this was like no other. When I arrived party of 2, they had nearly 5 tables empty and yet we couldn't sit at any of them because the had to wait for reservations to see if they arrived and we had to wait 15 min but they said they'd let us know. We were forced to sit at the bar which the giant metal can of alcohol bottles took up 1/2 my seating/dining area and no one bothered to move it or ask if that was okay because obviously it wasn't but the didn't care. We waited awhile for the food to come and during that time we asked if there really wasn't any table availability since tables clearly open and the denied again even though reservations never came. Literally 3 tables remains consistently empty throughout our entire dining experience confined to the cramped bar area. They even closed the door, separating the outdoor diners which was weird and it became insufferably hot inside, even on a cold windy day. Bathroom situation here is also terrible as it is downstairs with steep narrow stairs and me and other customers almost bumped into each other and staff carrying multitude of food dishes and dirty dishes up and down the stairs. Never have I ever had such an undelightful experience going to bathroom at a restaurant. Additionally, sink water pressure either had no water coming out or a giant spray of water making it impossible to wash hands without getting a whole shower. This location really needs work. Only reason why I'm not giving it five stars is because I love Fumo as a whole. Just skip this location.

Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.
