We went to Emily West Village on a Tuesday night and oh my God it was PACKED. I mean, packed packed! I had made a reservation for upstairs, but yeah... that wasn't happening. They ended up clearing out the downstairs area and seating us there instead. I will say the host was the best part of the service. She was super pleasant and the only person we interacted with who actually had a smile on her face. And don't get me wrong I'm not knocking the rest of the staff because they weren't unpleasant at all. It was extremely busy, so I completely understand. She just stood out. The atmosphere gives me this old-school mob-style vibe. I don't know how else to explain it, but especially downstairs where we were seated, it definitely had that feel. Now, let's get to the FOOD. We started with the mozzarella sticks, and they were very good. I normally don't even use marinara sauce, but I decided to taste theirs and was pleasantly surprised. It was actually really well seasoned, so bravo to them for that. Then I had the Caesar salad. LISTEN. Hands down, the BEST Caesar salad I have ever had in my life. I promise you, that salad could become an addiction. I can absolutely see people coming here just for the Caesar salad. The dressing was phenomenal. Seriously delicious. For my entrée, I had one of their white pizzas. I cannot remember the name for the life of me, but it had mozzarella, mushrooms, and a few other toppings. Whatever it was called, it was definitely very good. My man had the Emmy Burger, and he loved it. He said it was delicious. Then came dessert. He ordered the brownie skillet and OH MY GOD. That one knocked it out of the park. The brownie was moist and silky, with caramel drizzle and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Yeah... A1. That should absolutely be their signature dessert. I ordered the s'mores dessert and yeah, no. Especially after tasting that brownie skillet first. It wasn't terrible, but compared to the brownie, it was just whatever. I wouldn't order that one again. All in all, we had an awesome night and I definitely look forward to going back. I wish I could tell you the best time to go when it isn't packed, but considering this was a random Tuesday night with no specials going on and the place was STILL slammed, your guess is as good as mine! Parking can also be a little tricky. I happened to luck up and find a spot really close to the restaurant, but this is definitely more of a "leave the car at home if you can" kind of area. Came here after exploring Color Lab, as it was just a short drive away. The restaurant is small, but everyone was really nice, and we were able to get a seat right away since it was lunchtime. They have a kids' menu, which is not in the menu so we ordered the chicken nuggets and pizza kids' meals, which both came with fries. The kids' meals were huge and definitely a great value. For the adults, we ordered the Emmy Burger, which was hearty and delicious. The Emmy sauce was an interesting addition, but it worked really well with the burger. The wait for our burgers was a bit long, but our waitress checked in on us and made sure everything was good. We also ordered the Lavender 75 mocktail, which was absolutely delicious. The Caesar salad was fresh, tasty, and very shareable. Overall, the service was good, although the wait was a little longer than expected. Not great As for the food it was a little better - the double burger was ok but I wouldn't say it was medium-rare as promised (2.5/5). Came to eat here with our friends and their two kids (2 and 3 yrs old)..we were sat down and then there was some kind of misunderstanding so we were basically forced to move to a different area and the worker was very rude..to the point where we almost left..we stayed and ordered food..they messed up our order and later never brought out the order but charged us for it so when we asked the server to remove it..it seemed like a big problem. Stopped by for our favorite "Double Stack" burger (beef, caramelized onion, cheese, pickle, and Emmy sauce on a pretzel bun). The flavor combination and the pretzel bun are 10/10- this burger deserves all the hype it gets!!! One of the best burgers I've ever had. Wanted to get the Detroit-style Big Hawaiian pizza (pineapple, bacon, pepperoni, and chili glaze), but they were OUT of pineapple!!!!! (At 11 am!!!!). Decided not to get a pizza today- but their pizza IS also 10/10. Some of the best gluten-free pizza I've ever had (and I'm not allergic to gluten). Highly recommend the Big Hawaiian or the VIP- but have had most of the pizzas here, and they're all incredible. I've slowly been working my way through all the "best' burgers in NYC and when I had 30 minutes to kill and found myself walking past Emily, I plopped myself down at the bar and ordered the burger. This thing is no joke. The pasture raised dry aged beef is as good as it sounds and is served on a pretzel bun with caramelized onion, cheddar and a secret sauce. I personally love all of those components, so this burger for me, is currently in competition with the Claudette burger for the top spot. read more

My husband and I dined at Emily in the West Village on August 22nd, 2026 for dinner. The food was great, but unfortunately, the service left a very bad impression and overshadowed what otherwise could have been a really enjoyable experience. At one point during our meal, I accidentally spilled some water on the table. I used the cloth napkin that had been provided when we were seated to clean up the water and set it aside because I obviously did not want to put a wet napkin back on my lap while continuing to eat. When one of the servers passed by, we politely asked if we could have a fresh napkin, and since we were also running low on water, we asked for water as well. He brought the water but did not bring the napkin, so we reminded him. Shortly afterward, our original server brought us what we assumed would be a fresh napkin. Instead, this person brought us a paper towel. We were honestly shocked. The napkin we had originally been given was a proper cloth napkin, yet after simply requesting a fresh one, we were given a paper towel at the table. What made this particularly upsetting was that throughout our dinner, we watched the staff repeatedly place fresh cloth napkins on tables being prepared for new guests. We also saw our same server bringing proper cloth napkins to other tables. So this clearly was not a situation where the restaurant had run out of them. I understand that mistakes happen and that servers can have bad days. However, there is a difference between being busy and making a guest feel intentionally dismissed. We were polite in our request and were not asking for anything unreasonable. Being given a paper towel when proper cloth napkins were readily available to other guests felt unnecessarily rude and disrespectful. The food was very good, but hospitality is about more than the food. The way this was handled left us feeling singled out and uncomfortable, and unfortunately, that is what we will remember about the experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because guests should not have to wonder why they are being treated differently from the tables around them--especially when they have done nothing wrong. Hit up Emily recently and I got the Emmy Burger and their famous MVP pizza. The burger lives up to the hype: juicy, well-seasoned beef, nicely melted cheese, caramelized onions, and that pretzel-bun + special sauce combo that makes it feel indulgent in all the right ways. The MVP Pie was also excellent. It's simple but so well executed: great crust, mellow tomato sauce, layered cheese, and that perfect Emily-style balance of richness and char. Not as flashy as some of their other pies, but honestly one of those "done right" pizzas that hits exactly when you want something classic. The Kim Chi Bulgogi fries were full of bacon, and less bulgogi but the bulgogi had a seasoning that wasn't good, the sauce ok, missing salt and would have been great if a little kim chi was actually on top. My sister and brother in law were excited to try out this spot as they heard great things about it. My bestie and I tried the cheeseburger, Detroit style pizza and brussel sprouts salad. Surprisingly my favorite dish was the brussel salad. It was light, fresh, and crispy - whatever dressing they had in it was refreshing. Now to the burger. Came here for lunch after summer streets. We made a reservation and came about half an hour early, which they were nice enough to seat us. We were seated and given menus and cups. Then no one came to us for 10 minutes, not even with water. The other patrons all either ordered, or had their food already so I wasn't sure why we weren't given any attention. Called to see if they did walk ins since online they were all full. We showed up in 10 and got seated with the understanding that another party will need the table in 80 min. Having read reviews about the burger we winded up ordering the Seoul Sister and the Emmy. We also tried the cauliflower along with some beers. Note that during ordering we were not asked how we wanted the Emmy cooked, whereas another party that came along later the server did ask. A sign of spotty service. The cauliflower came first and was tender, tasty and had a kick. The Seoul Sister came first, followed by the Emmy in about 5 minutes. Upon first bite of both burgers one could feel how dense the bite was. The meat was salty and chewy. Kenji Lopez Alt would have had a fit since the burgers were probably over handled in adding the seasoning and forming the patty. So while the menu description read fantastic (as well as some reviews online) the actual eating experience was a bit disappointing since it didn't live up to the rave reviews. The interior decor was nice and seating tight and a loud nyc ambiance, with outdoor seating even on a rainy day. Additional seating and bathrooms are downstairs. We didn't try the pizza but as for the burgers take the hype with a grain of salt. Came back to nyc for a month and during this period I've tried Emily three times so let me write an honest review. First of all, the food is excellent. Five-star excellent. I had three styles of Detroit pizza (ezzo, luca, and a white pizza with pistachio and honey I forgot its name). Had the Emmy burger, salad, chicken wings, and cauliflower. The service is also good. So why am I leaving a two-star review? I want to emphasize that people who go to Emily to have a nice meal are not college students who want to get wasted since they are sometimes too awkward to have a conversation. Why does Emily need to blast pop music so loud? I have been there twice for dinner, and I couldn't really hear my friends talking. The second time I went with two friends and all of us ended up having sore throat after eating there simply because--just observe yourself--every table has to rise their volume, basically screaming, for conversation to be heard. It's a nightmare. Since I love their food, I went again for lunch, hoping there wouldn't be so many people. Yet, on a day of 99 degree Fahrenheit, the AC was not working. It was so hot and I saw customers using the menu to make paper fans. Given the food is more on the oily side, it really doesn't help to have a not functioning AC (or, the temperature setting is so high that it was barely working). If the ac is not working, the restaurant is responsible to tell the customers instead of bringing them in. More minor issue (also in Asia, this issue would be HUGE), I found my napkin pretty dirty and I could touch oil. Unclean napkins, I don't know what everyone else thinks, are extremely gross. After how frequently the famous "Emmy Burger" comes up on a podcast I listen to, I knew I had to try this place when I was visiting NYC. The burger was maybe the best burger I've ever had. What that special sauce is, I have no idea but it is goooood. My husband got the Good Paulie pizza, which is a white sauce base and holy crap was it delicious too! They make Detroit style pizzas with a thicker crust, which I love. Our cocktails were so yummy too. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. I loved the atmosphere in the restaurant too - they were playing great music and sitting upstairs allowed me to look outside all the windows and watch everyone walk by. The upstairs seating is a bit crowded with tables for 1-4 people. It was a little awkward being seated so close to other people, but I understand they are maximizing the smaller space. They had outdoor tables as well, but we were visiting in February, so no one was seated outside. Downstairs had little rooms for larger groups and was so cool - like a fancy cellar with exposed brick. And you can see the open kitchen where they are hard at work preparing the food. I've been to four of the Emily locations, and they've all been consistently good, which is rarely the case once a business expands. I do have a soft spot for the OG location in Clinton Hill since I lived there for 14 years, but I am also happy to see the business continue to expand and thrive. I recently visited the West Village location with my husband and brother on a Friday night without a reservation. We were luckily able to be seated pretty quickly since they have a large space with additional seating downstairs. We ordered jumbo wings, two pizzas (Roni Supreme and VIP), and the double stacked burger. Needless to say, we had leftovers, but everything was delicious. I thought the wings would be too sweet, but they were nicely balanced, and I really loved the VIP pizza with the combination of vodka sauce and pesto. I have been on a quest to find the best burger in New York and Emily has officially thrown its hat into the ring. With that known, I ordered their signature Emmy Burger with waffle fries. I received the burger fairly quickly and I was ready to dig in. I took my first bite and it was so delicious that I almost fell out of my chair. To expand, the burger was medium rare and cooked to perfection. In addition, it was two big juicy patties loaded with cheese and sweet, caramelized onions. Furthermore, the bun was fluffy and tasted fresh. Finally, the burger was topped with their signature sauce that was slightly spicy with a hint of sweetness. It was simply one of the best burgers I've ever had. Likewise, the waffle fries were tasty as well. The fries were crispy, hot, and seasoned. It was nice to have some good fries for once. Also, I would like to mention that the mozzarella sticks were very good as well. To explain, the sticks had an excellent breading and the cheese had a great pull to them.
