I have returned a few times since then with my husband, my daughter and friends. Not one of them want to return, and truth be told, nor do I. Why, do you ask? Attitude. Example - 1705 on a Friday night. Hello bartender! How are you this evening? We're having a staff meeting, what can I get you? Oh, I'm sorry, the door was open, are you closed? No. What can I get you? Do you have any Happy Hour specials? We're not that kind of place. Rewind. We're not that kind of place. WTF was that? Was it even necessary? How about the bartender try this: We don't have any Happy Hour price specials but we do have Dogfish Head 120 on tap! How awesome is that! And, I make a great martini too! No, she tried this - I'm getting back to the meeting. If you know what you want,fine. Otherwise, I'll be back in 15. Attitude. My friend just wanted to walk out. We probably should have. However we stayed. We ordered marinated olives for an appetizer, friend had steak and I had a braised meat dish. We looked over at the other tables and everyone had a bread basket. Friend asked Why didn't we get a bread basket? Reply - Because you didn't ask for one. Attitude. We didn't stay for desert. There are so many other choices on Long Island. Still love this place! Everytime I come back I continue to get the flight of beer- they have such good choices it's hard not to get a sample of everything. The most recent menu item I ordered is the butternut squash ravioli oh my god amazing!! I don't know what exactly was in it but all I know was I ate every last bite! (who needs leftovers when it's that good?). The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was so delicious. It was listed under the "small plates" section but they were nice enough to let me order it as an entree-size. I recommend this if you're a fan of pasta since a lot of the entrees are meats/fish (lamb, burger, pork, salmon etc). My fiancé and his family love the lamb chops here as well. I definitely recommend making a reservation - they were SO busy both times we were there recently but luckily the service was still great! read more

Have had some great dining experiences at Market Bistro! First off, kudos to them for having a following considering the location. It's in the back corner of a shopping center that is in no way visible from the road. Walking in you get the total gastropub/wine bar feel; lots of wood and beer taps, wine barrels on the wall, a shared table and the specials on a chalk board on the wall. Perfecto. My last visit included... market pickles, market greens (mesclun greens, shaved baby vegetable, lemon vinaigrette), meatballs (garlic toast/house preserved tomato sauce/pecorino), organic chicken (skillet roasted/jarnidere vegetables/spaetzle/herb pan jus) and a Chimay Tripel (or two). Have been going to Market Bistro for 10+ years. The food is always fantastic and love the bar and the bartenders. They have a fantastic wine list, fantastic beer draft list and great cocktails. Their organic chicken is the best, but it was better when they served it in the iron skillets, not a normal plate - for that, they only get 4 stars. read more

We luv returning to Market Bistro in Jericho..We are welcomed by Laura who is the sweetest young lady. Our needs are always accomodated, I request a larger table to hold all the food I order...actually I'm large and need the space! The drinks are great and you get what you pay for...a nice buzz to make the days tribulations fade away. The Duck Pate is great as are the hamburgers; cooked to perfection. The Mussels were incredible!! Our server Cassie is wonderful and we feel well taken care of by all. The vibe is great and makes eating there very comfortable. We were on a time schedule and a train to catch to the city. The maitre d and servers were very aware of this and we had a fantastic meal without feeling rushed. The concept of farm to table is not novel, but certainly is in Nassau County. My wife and I dined here with another couple - Saturday night, 9pm reservation and the place was packed - but our table was ready for us upon arrival. This was an excellent start. The menu has snacks, starters and entrees. We started with the olive "snack" for the table - and imho, they were somewhat of a waste. I guess you can't really do too much with a cup of olives. I'm also not sure how olives fit in to the farm to table thing, since olives are not locally sourced anywhere near Long Island. My wife and I split the carrot soup - which was thick, and definitely finished with cream. It was topped with a little bit of oil and some thinly sliced radish, which gave a nice crunch. I'd highly recommend. Our friends ordered the beet salad, which was large enough for 2 - they both seemed to enjoy it. I had the scallop entree and my wife ordered the short ribs. Mine came atop a root vegetable medley (which was a little undercooked) and the short rib came atop some pasta (which my wife said was extremely al dente). The scallops were expertly prepared, fresh and sweet. The short rib was also well prepared and was fork tender. I would not have ordered the lemon meringue pie - I would have opted for the gingerbread sundae - but I posted a picture of the pie. It's deconstructed with the meringue on the side. The overall consensus was that it was a little too tart and the 4 of us did not finish it. Market Bistro carries several local beers on tap. As for wines, there were a bunch of reds and whites by the glass and most bottles were under $50. I would have liked to have seen more local wine - LI or Finger Lakes - but to no avail. For a table of 4, with one drink apiece, 2 appetizers, one snack and one dessert, the price was $120/couple including gratuity. Definitely on the expensive side for Nassau, but not a stuffy atmosphere. Overall, there were definitely some flaws - perhaps these kinks will be ironed out as the restaurant gets more established. Nassau County needs more restos like Market Bistro. There is a ton of potential and I'm looking forward to going back. read more

Stopped in for a quick dinner fairly early (luckily) and was able to get a table even though it was busy because of restaurant week. So we took advantage of a great 3 course fixed rate meal. Again, lucky us! We all started with the little neck clam chowder, which was tasty. My son and I ordered the duck breast with cabbage and carrot in a hoisin sauce. This dish was amazing. I actually wrapped and took half the dish for lunch the next day and I think it tasted even better! My husband had the scallops with risotto and enjoyed them. We had the flourless chocolate cake which was delicious, light and smooth and so good served with ice cream. Someone had the warm apple crisp with ice cream. Also really good. Came here on a whim with a party of five and we were accommodated without reservations. The Sauvignon Blanc was good and they had a pre-fixe running so I decided to try it out. The pre-fixe dinner menu had about everything on the regular menu. I went with the Wild Steelhead Salmon and was very pleased with the dish. Salmon was cooked perfectly and dish came together very nicely with the sweet potatoes, celery root and wild mushrooms. Market greens for appetizer was okay- a bit tarty and needed some acidity to it. Flourless chocolate cake was really good. Overall great dinner and will definitely be back again! The philosophy of local farmers providing food for restaurants is one that is spreading, and the ones who really benefit are the ones how eat there. Everything was fresh tasting, great combos, most you may have had before, but just done right. Market Bistro's other policy is they way it is on the menu is the way it will be on your table. No substitutions or alterations. Some may have a problem with that, but why? The meal in front of you is intended to be the chef's vision, so don't you think they know better than you or me? Place has a real cool feel, looking for that trendy crowd I'm sure. Decor resembles a great wine bar, or even a scotch cigar bar (minus the smoke of course). Very unassuming considering it is nearly hidden in a nondescript run of the mill strip mall. They all kind of blend together in Nassau. But trust me, this one is worth it! From "snacks" to main dishes, to small plates, they have it all, plus some of the better beers from Brooklyn and Greenport Harbor Brewing and everywhere in between. I have to give an overall grade of 4 stars bc of service. 5 stars for food. It was my second time here, and I, once again enjoyed my dinner. The pork chop was nice and juicy; the spinach & chick peas were nicely seasoned and cooked. I didn't care for the grilled peach on this plate bc its flesh was still cold. Hmmmm... But I appreciate the summer element. My three friends also enjoyed their dinner; although, they expected the rock shrimp to be grilled in the tacos rather than fried. The lobster roll was reported to be delicious. Let's talk about service... Now, the last time I was here, the service was great! On this particular Wednesday night though I was disappointed. It started off well w drinks orders. My friend even enjoyed her recommended fruity white wine. We ordered starters to share: burrata & arugula salad and the avocado & bean dip w plantain chips. The starters arrived within minutes! It was very quick! I think we had just clinked glasses and taken a couple sips of our drinks. The salad was a nice size for sharing. The bean dip was presented in a fun way & tasted good. Oh! If you want bread for the table, per the menu, you'd have to ask for it. Although the place was buzzing w ppl, there were several unoccupied tables. We ordered our entrees when the starters arrived. I literally took 3-4 bites of the starters and the salad & dip were still on our table when the entrees arrived!!! No one came over to ask if we were done w the apps! They literally placed the entrees on the table w the apps still there! I'm sorry but this is an absolute pet peeve of mine! It was a girls' night out! We weren't sure how to feel. Did they need our table? What was going on!? The server was pleasant but this aspect of the service needs to be improved on. We ate our entrees w apps remaining on our table the entire time. I'm not fancy but if the restaurant wants to have a certain image this didn't work for me. I did pay $26 for a pork chop! It didn't ruin our girls night. We still enjoyed ourselves though. Oh, one other thing...the server came over to us & reminded us that our check was on the table w bussers standing nearby and tapping their fingers on the room divider. We were there for about 2 hours on a Wednesday night w at least 6 empty tables. We left before 9:30! I'm not sure what to think...just disappointed. Never disappointed (with 3 small exceptions) ! I've been here several times now, and I've always left happy with a full belly =) The place was packed at 9pm on a Friday night, and lucky for us (we didn't have reservations), some couple didn't show up for their reservation so we got their table. It was late, so I didn't want to order too much food, so we just went with entree and dessert. I had the Parmesan Crusted Norwegian Cod (great!) and my boyfriend got their roasted chicken (yum!). We split their orange and cinnamon (?) creme brûlée...could have been more orange-y but still delish! Service was very good, as usual. Waiter was courteous, polite, warm and not overbearing. If I have to be nit-picky, here are some things that can be worked on: 1) the small bread pieces were rock hard on the bottom. I've had them before where they are wonderfully soft. 2) the sugar on the creme brûlée was a tad too thick...so it wasn't that wonderfully fragile, crisp sugar top that I love. It was like crunching a candy bar almost. Still tasty! And it wasn't warmed all the way through. The top layer was warmed from the crisp sugar, but the bottom of the dessert was cold 3) the butter...I hate hard butter! I mean, how hard is it to take butter out of the fridge an hour prior to service so that it's easily spreadable?! This is one of my biggest pet peeves of "nicer" restaurants. Overall, I'm a fan. Was here years ago and loved it so came back. Wings were so bland. Dry rubbed with nothing. Girl had the turkey burger again nothing to it. Had the German noodle side, sounded cool but again bland. We went here last Saturday for an early Mother's Day lunch. When I first walked in, I was extremely impressed with the wine barrel decor. Every item on the menu looked impressive, and I had a difficult time deciding. I decided to skip the duck grilled cheese for the healthier option, the salmon salad. The salmon salad, which was cooked perfectly, was served over a bed of spinach with caramelized onions, goat cheese, and a bacon vinaigrette. The food was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. I will definitely return many times to taste the many menu items that caught my attention. read more

The place is actually quite cool, great atmosphere. We got the corn fritters, they were a little dark and greasy for my taste but the other guests at our table enjoy them. I also got the black bean and avocado dip that was wonderful. I ordered the house salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing it was great very refreshing very fresh and crisp. I've been ordered as an entree the vegetable ravioli that was absolutely outstanding. I had really high hopes for Market Bistro, especially since they came recommended from a highly-rated foodie blog, but my experience was rather lackluster in multiple aspects. I went on a weekday night and opted to grab a table for myself since the bar was packed. It appeared to be some sort of large group holiday party because they eventually moved to a big table in the dining room. I sat really close to the door and despite having an entryway, it was really chilly every time someone entered. I sat at my table for about 15 minutes before someone came to my table. When she did, she asked if I had been helped and when I told her no, she awkwardly tried to hurry me into ordering. I was cool as a cucumber, but she seemed very bothered/worried that I was waiting. I got the market greens salad and the butternut squash ravioli. The market greens were almost inedible because the frisee lettuce was so bitter and the dressing was so light. The squash ravioli was out of this world, so I'd recommend getting that if you go. When the squash plate came, I did think that it was a bit large, but continued on anyway. When I got my check, I found out why. Even though the squash is listed in the small plates section for $14, the waitress rang it up as "squash ravioli entree" for $26, which isn't even an item on the menu. I didn't want the entree and would have opted to try a third "small plate" had I known the price. I was both surprised and upset when I got the check, but it was hard enough just to get the check that I paid and left. read more

I got the flourless chocolate cake for dessert with salted caramel ice cream -- and I'm not a chocolate cake guy -- but it was awesome. 1/20- Update a year later. Food still good. Lamb would have been amazing if it wasn't doused in Demi glaze. The portions for the apps and desserts are teeny tiny especially for the price. This restaurant is in such a bland strip of stores but its actually very comforting inside with high ceiling heavy wood chairs and tables. Specials on the blackboard we came for lunch Waitress gave us water right away and asked if we wanted a beverage we saw lots of tables with bread basket and we awaited ours (but it never came) Deb's crock of french onion was very enjoyable and piping hot. Waitress told us it was made with chicken stock. Deb had a salad with beets and I had a fluke fish sandwich fish...was a piece of fish lightly seasoned on a bakery style bun with lettuce tomato and avocado nice an hot but the fish portion itself was lost in the big bun, it was tasty enough not crazy tasty but tasty fries were those shoestring type a little greasy ketchup and the asked for(on the side) tartar sauce was served in little cups cute food was plated nice it just was so outstanding great service was a little slow but very friendly we never did get a bread basket and we never bothered to ask so I guess its our fault desserts of bread pudding did sound tasty but we had to move on prices a little expensive the fish sandwich was 15 for lunch it needs to be a little cheaper and a little faster and this place could be awesome read more

Overall, Market Bistro is a little pricey, but still delicious. The decor is quite warm and inviting. The brick wall and blackboard menu/drink options feel very upscale and expansive, evoking feelings of a cozy meal in the city. I had the mb flatbread and the burrata & arugula salad (without the prosciutto and ham because I don't eat meat). The flatbread had a wonderful crisp, just-baked texture that complemented well with the arugula and was dressed just-right with the vinaigrette. The aged goat cheese added a creaminess that contrasted well with the flatbread and greens. As for the salad, I think the balance was a little skewed too sweet and sour, but I imagine that is only because I excluded the prosciutto. As a suggestion, though I recognize that this isn't the norm yet for most restaurants, it would be nice if menus clearly denoted which items are vegetarian/vegan/GF for those with different dietary requirements. read more

Good, but doesn't get the raves my dining companion gives it. Food is above average, but what one would expect. A bit more pricy than is warranted for the quality and quantity. This place was great!!! My wife and I had chicken wings for an appetizer, they were delicious. For dinner she had the short ribs, which basically melted in your mouth. Unreal. I had asked the bartender what he recommended and he immediately said the cheeseburger, so I trusted him and ordered that. It was probably the best burger I've ever eaten. I ordered the burger with gruyere cheese, bacon and sautéed onions. So delicious. The bartender Steve was excellent. He was very attentive to refilling our glasses, and extremely honest with his recommendations, which I really appreciate. Also, he was really funny and I was glad we ate dinner at the bar, rather than the table that we originally had reservations for. He treated us really well, and even bought back a few drinks. Came in on a Friday night to see it was very busy, always a good sign! The ambiance was that of a Manhattan restaurant. We were sat almost immediately and so were the people who came in after us. The response time of the staff was incredible. I noticed the friendly demeanor of the customers around us; this seems to be the type of place that couples can count on for the perfect date night. After being seated at the high tops I ordered a 'Just in Thyme.' The bartenders absolutely know what they are doing: perfect ratio of strength to flavor. We ordered the scallops, brie special and octopus salad. By far my favorite thing that we tried had to be the scallops. The citrus blended with the aioli very nicely and the scallops melted in my mouth. We finished of with their house made biscotti (chocolate chip and apricot) and espresso. Had early dinner reservations for party of 6. When the bread is served fresh it's an indication that the rest of the meal will follow suit. Salad with bacon was great. Four orders of soft shell crabs over a cold wild rice was also very good. One order of scallops tasted great, but should have come with a bit more substantial side dish. One meatball dish got a thumbs up. Very good water coverage. Always a plus. They haven't updated their website menu so the duck must have flown the coop. No duck! ‍. Great place with great food!! Tons of outdoor seating and seating inside was properly distanced. The night I went, they seemed to be a little short staffed, so I had to wait a bit to put my order in and to get the food, but all in all I would definitely go back. We got the crispy Brussels sprouts for the appetizer and it was delicious. For our meal, we got the mb flatbread and panko chicken salad to share and both were just divine. This was my first time trying Market Bistro. Parking was easy since there is an enormous parking lot, and there was indoor and outdoor seating which is always nice. We opted to sit inside because it was a really hot and humid day. The inside was very cute with both dining and bar seating and a cool wall behind the bar. The service was great and the food was pretty good. We got the tuna tartar appetizer which was very good, I loved the cucumbers that it came with and the chips for dipping. For dinner, my fiancé got the lobster roll with a side of tater tots (huge tater tots!) Which he enjoyed and thought was very good. I got the grilled eggplant Parmesan special which wasn't bad, but I normally only like eggplant when it's breaded which this one was not, but overall we had a good experience. I didn't eat all of my meal and it actually tasted better the next day, which Italian food usually does. I would definitely come back to give it a second try and get something different as they had a few different things on the menu that looked good. read more

It was only ok. From the reviews I really expected a better meal. The wings were blah. 6 flappers with barely any seasoning for $14 with a side of blue cheese aioli which was rly just very thick mayo with chunks of blue cheese. Don't recommend. The Caesar salad was nothing to write home about, I've had that dressing 1000 times before, at least make your own. It's one of the easiest things to make and it goes a long way. When a Caesar dressing is good, it's usually worth coming back for. This wasn't. The burger was cooked nicely and tasted good, but had no salt. The beers, domestic and 'imported' were overly priced; a $9 hoegaarden just ain't it. This could be a good place if they seasoned the dishes they already offer and make more things in-house. I love this place. Cozy and menu is just right. It's been a staple in my short repertoire of spots when I am working on Long Island visiting clients. We liked this place a lot. We loved the decor and the food was very good. We had the avacado and bean dip and the meatballs. Both were delicious. As our entree we had the lamb chops and pork osso buco. they were both delicious..the pork fell right off the bone as it should. Lamb chops were cooked just right. Dessert on the other hand was not to my liking. The apple crisp was tasteless. I didn't like the taste of the bread pudding at all. I'll be. Ack but not for dessert. read more
