What a pleasant surprise. We ordered takeout lunch from the Bistro on a whim during the week since it was close to where we were headed. The ordering process went smoothly and the host made sure that everything with squared up when I arrived early for pick-up. The inside is so welcoming with a large bar area to the left filled with working men and women. Then to the right are quite a few tables with cute rustic decor. We got the salmon salad and the shrimp po' boy with fries. Both were fresh and delicious, the perfect portions too. You do pay a little more since you're up on the north shore but I would definitely recommend. read more

Came back for a business luncheon of 8. I'd have to say, the portions are not too generous. Coworker ordered mussels w. Fries, they served w. 1 small piece of toasted bread. When he asked for more bread, they actually gave him 1 additional small slice. The fries were limpy. My octopus salad was a bit skimpy on octopus which was sliced into small coins. The bison burger did look like a nice portion. All in all, an okay meal but portions are small and tastes were okay nothing spectacular. read more

Group meal here on a recent weekend evening. Restaurant definitely has an upscale bistro-style vibe to it. I did not try any of the appetizers ordered at the table, only had one main meal. I ordered the fettuccini Alfredo. It came served with confit chicken, pancetta, wild mushrooms, spring peas, fava beans and a variety of cheeses. There was clearly love and attention put into this dish and the flavors blended together extremely well. The peas and beans gave the dish some "crunch" which the confit chicken bites melded wonderfully with the earthiness of the mushrooms. Everyone else around the table seemed to really enjoy their meals, glad we were able to dine here while in town. read more

We dined here last night after having heard good things. We arrived early for a 5:30 reservation, and were seated promptly, the restaurant was just opening but already had 2 tables filled. The decor inside is casual, dark. The tables were a touch close but we saw later on they do get pretty busy so it is just a full neighborhood restaurant vibe in there, nothing wrong with that. After looking over the specials board and the menu, I decided to indulge in a cocktail called Summer Sip with pineapple, vodka, lime and maybe another flavor I can't recall. It was OK, nothing amazing, but I"m glad it wasn't too sweet as sometimes fruit drinks can be. I would give it a 7 out of a 10 for temperature, flavor (too muted) alcohol (just right) and sweetness (just right). Once I had my drink, we ordered our food, although the restaurant was not full, and had only two to three other tables with customers, we noted some inconsistency in how they served. Some of the tables received a bread basket while others didn't. We noticed this because from the time we ordered, the food did not come out for about 20 minutes, this might be the reason some fo the apps seemed almost cool or just warm to the touch. Aside from the mussels everything arrived warm, as though it had been sitting and waiting to be taken out. For Apps My hubby got the Seared Foie Gras with blueberry gastrique or compote, blueberry foam and small toasted brioche, this was served along side half a peach creme brûléed on top. The brioche was really just a very hard crispy chip that didn't really work well as a vehicle for the Foie, which arrived at our table barely warm, and I'll even say cool (it was presented as "seared", so you expect a hot charred dish) The Foie was also not seasoned enough and sliced just thin enough that it did not impart much flavor. My husband said it was "OK" He also happens to love all things foie. I did not feel like having an entree and opted to get us some apps to try instead. I ordered the Dry rubbed murray's wings served with blue cheese aioli. This was just OK. The wings were not seasoned enough, a bit more salt and pepper would have elevated the flavor. They also were not crispy, if you like crispy wings, these do not have the crunch you want. However if you like dry rubbed wings where most of the fat is rendered leaving a nice dehydrated skin. Go for it. Ask for a wedge of lime if yours arrives under seasoned, that might help enhance the flavor. I also ordered the crispy rock shrimp tacos layered on cabbage slaw and served with three accompaniments. A creamy tomatillo salsa, a cilantro sour cream, and a guacamole. When this arrived the presentation was great however the accompaniments were not explained so we just kind of tasted to see what they were. The guacamole was obvious of course. For Dinner My husband ordered the braised short ribs served on a black truffle potato puree with bacon lardons, baby carrots, tomato concasse and pearl onions. It was a great homey dish, but again a bit more salt and pepper would have next leveled it. Still this one was the clear winner for both of us. The potato had a good black truffle flavor but not as punch out as you'd expect. The short ribs were tender and delicious as were the carrots served along side it. As my entree I ordered the coconut-lemongrass mussels with toasted garlic in a coconut-lemongrass broth, served grilled bread and garnished with a bit of cilantro. I had been craving mussels for a while and was slightly deflated after having some of these. When you have mussels, the most delicious part is usually not the mussels but the flavor it imparts to the broth you get to sop up and eat as you enjoy them. This dish though described as mussels in broth, was served with more like a creamy, and yet again, not well seasoned sauce. The mussels were well prepared, cooked perfectly, however the sauce let it down in my book. At this point we asked if we could also have some bread, and a bread basket, we noted other diners receive at the beginning of the meal, was brought out. The final dish we ordered was dessert of-course, My husband wanted to try the cobbler. It was a strawberry/blueberry compote with a biscuit in the middle served with ice cream on top, garnished with a mint leaf. The flavors were good, the vanilla ice cream was nothing special, but good all the same. The compote was very good. However, unfortunately the bisquit in the middle was under cooked, quite a bit to the point where we were stretching dough in our mouths. Not great. They could do well if some of the inconsistencies are taken care of. Better seasoning, timing, more consistency across the board, along with a doneness check on dessert would raise the bar. The host and server was friendly and ambiance was casual and enjoyable. We won't return though. read more

There are 2 things that I always keep in the back of my mind: Things are not always what they seem and, Don't judge a book by its cover.... Such is the case of Market Bistro, located on a strip mall. If you stand at least 200 feet away (like I was) from Market Bistro, and imagine blocking out other surrounding storefronts beside it, you'll quickly notice that Market Bistro doesn't quite belong. But, the exterior is adorable and stylish, with outside seating and cute 'Christmas' lights, to additionally elevate their vibe. Inside, you'll find slabs of wood in the bar area and ceilings, wrought iron hanging light fixtures and delicate tea light candles on tables adding soft lighting with a cool flair. Bar area is big enough to nosh on a quick bite and if not, dining at one the gorgeous mahogany tables throughout. We were greeted by Brittany who quickly led us to our reserved table. She had a happy and friendly demeanor that went a long way- quite frankly. However, between the time we sat and the time our server approached us, was about 10 minutes. Our server was a bit cut and dry in the beginning, but we all help to soften the impact of his lagging service and immediately became more attentive throughout the evening. Menu was typical; as it was diverse with unique flavors and combinations. Mussels in wine were delicious, and since the sauce was so heavenly, the only right thing to do is have more bread to sop up all that goodness. My Grilled Mahi Mahi/rock shrimp in a coconut-lemongrass curry sauce, was delightful with the most subtle heat, that got me in the back of my mouth. Chocolate Chunk with Crispy Banana slices and peanut butter ice cream was outstanding! I'm not sure if we're ever going to be in this part of Long Island any time soon, but, my experience at Market Bistro was charming. I do actually like this place. Not as much for the restaurant as the bar. Ample white Carrara marble, very decent music and attentive bar tenders make for a great place to throw back a few. The decor and lighting create a up to date atmosphere and the menu, wine and beer as well. I'm sipping a Cigar City Invasion Pale Ale and I also see a blue Chimay Grand Reserve on tap.... The waitress and waiter were very friendly and attentive to our needs. Before we left the house for the restaurant i had looked online at the menu and once we got there i already knew what I wanted. Unfortunately they told me that the french onion soup which i really wanted was taken off the menu two days before???? why is it still on your online menu then????. RECOMMENDED I dined with four friends at Market Bistro on Friday, April 20th. Market Bistro is set way back from Route 107 in the shopping center anchored by Whole Foods in Jericho. This shopping center has a humongous amount of parking spaces which is a big positive. The restaurant has a modern dark panelled look. It can be a little loud but tables are situated a comfortable distance apart from each other. Upon arrival, I bellied up to the frenetically busy bar scene. Despite that, the bartender was not the most attentive dude. He made me a very good Grey Goose Vodka Martini, however. When our entire group assembled, the restaurant seated us promptly. Servicve was good and attentive the entire evening, not an easy task since the restaurant was packed.I was particularly struck at how great the "bussers" were. They re-filled our water glasses constantly without being asked. I started with a special, the New England Clam Chowder. Although it did not possess the expected viscosity(it was somewhat between the typical texture of NE and Manhattan Chowder) it was really delicious. I followed up with the Roast Chicken. It was very good. The 1/2 chicken made a large portion. The skin was beautifully crisped and the bird was flavorful well seasoned, but slightly dry.The Spatzle underneath the chicken was very yummy. It was a pleasant change from a typical side like mashed potatoes. Benefiting from the Roast Chicken's pan drippings, it tasted like superb Thanksgiving stuffing. I would definitely order the Roast Chicken again. My fellow diners praised the Mahi Mahi, French Onion Soup, Rabbit Pot Pie (a special) and the Scallops. I must give special mention to the Wild Boar Sausage app special. My neighbor graciously allowed me to sample a piece.It came in a gigantic portion and it was out of this world. I WILL order it when I return if it is available.I was too full for dessert but my neighbor enjoyed the Bread Pudding. Came here for dinner last night. Giving it a 4 but it has potential for a 5. Food was very good. We had the crispy shrimp tacos & tuna tartare. Both were yummy. They serve some type of kettle chips that are very addictive! Drinks were good & strong but a bit pricey. Had Don Julio tequila with grapefruit juice...$17....ouch :-/. Dessert was tasty. I came here for the first time for lunch. It opens at noon and I got there at just about noon. We were one of the only people there but by the time we were done around 2 more people had come, although still not super crowded where I felt that people were on top of us. It was a sunny day so we sat outside. With Covid, it's nice to have the outside option. I wasn't sure what to expect as far as outside seating since the restaurant is in a shopping center but it's set up nice. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. I ordered the Ceasar salad. I thought it was really good. I was surprised though to see they put two whole anchovies on top of the salad. I have never seen that before and it wasn't really my cup of tea. I know that Ceasar dressing has anchovies in it but seeing the full anchovies made my stomach turn for a min. But I pushed it aside and it was okay. Next time I know to ask them not to put the anchovies on top. No biggie. I know people who love anchovies whole, I am not just one of those people. The person I was with got the panko-crusted chicken cutlet salad. I didn't ask if he liked it but he ate the whole thing so I think he enjoyed it and it did look good. I would def try it next time. The food appetizers and salads were about average price but the entrees are on the pricey side (especially for lunch) but not too bad. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends. read more

I have come to this shopping center many times and never noticed this establishment. I came with my husband for the car show at the Inn and we popped in to this location for a bite. I am so glad that we did, the service and food was exceptional. We started with avocado black bean dip with plantains, I had the vegetable raviolis and my husband had the salmon. I loved my raviolis they were fresh well prepared and not very heavy. I also love the dip appetizer. My husband said the salmon was cooked medium which he likes and very flavorful and he found the presentation appealing. I will definitely be back, great first impression read more

My only complaint in my last review was the Host with the least, So after a number of years we decided to go back and the staff and especially our waiter G did a fine job. Yes the Food is excellent but yes they are not alone, no class charging for using credit cards. Prices are so high because of you know who I would have to go into stores with a wheel barrow. I have passed this shopping center so many times and never new this restaurant was here. Well better late than never! The ambiance is nice. It was pretty empty when we got there at 5:30. We started off with the sweet corn fritters it came with a spicy ranch sauce. They were decent. Not heavy or greasy. For my entree I ordered from the prefixed menu. Mussels to begin and the shrimp and crab fettuccine for my main. I'm a tough critic when it comes to mussels so here it is. They were cooked perfectly but the white wine sauce was just ok. Not the best I've tasted. The fettuccine was cooked perfectly and tasted like fresh pasta. The broth was tasty. All in all the dish was good but I'd rather try the other dishes on the menu next time. My dinner date ordered the french onion soup and meatballs as an entree. I sampled both and two thumbs up. By the time we finished the place was crowded. Looking forward to coming back! read more

Complimentary rustic bread and butter was provided. I started with mussels as an appetizer. It was a very generous size (basically the size of an entree) and the seasoning was amazing! Good until the last drop! Then I had the shrimp and wild mushroom risotto. Wow. It was very good. By then, I was already satisfied and took half home. For dessert I had the chocolate cake. This seems to be the new favorite among the locals as it was buzzing all night long. Low light ambiance with a loud energetic casual vibe makes for a fun night out. Our waiter was great. We started out with the black bean and avocado dip served with plantain chips (amazing and addictive), the octopus, arugula & cannellini bean salad (tender octopus with a nice punch of acidity, but bordering on being too salty) and the flat bread with lemony arugula and goat cheese (tasty). For the entrees I opted for the NY Strip with truffle butter and house cut fries. The steak arrived beautifully seared and perfectly medium cooked, but it was cold. I alerted our waiter who whisked it away and it returned hot, but a bit over cooked. Not optimal, but it was a good steak. Everyone else loved their entrees and cleaned their plates. We were pretty full, so ordered only 1 dessert to share. The brownie with marshmallow and graham cracker ice cream was served warm and was decadently delicious. The menu offers some decent wine and beer options as well as cocktails. Market Bistro makes for a fun night and a good meal, but be sure to make a reservation. read more

Always used to love this place and although the food used to be very good to excellent, food has now become quite average and mediocre. Despite inflation, prices are a bit higher than prices that I see for a similar dish at other restaurants in it's class, plus management insists on a 3.5% credit card surcharge, which I do not see at other restaurants that I'm comparing Market Bistro to. They just don't offer a reasonable value anymore for their food. At this point, I'm just saying no to the credit surcharges and avoiding the establishments that charge it. Service has been spotty lately too: last time we went were completely ignored for 5-10 minutes after being seated. No greeting, no water. This was a restaurant that I used to recommend to family and friends for many years, but that's not something I would do anymore, unfortunately. read more

We were able to order a few things and still get entrees. A nice way to try a bunch of things since we had a hard time deciding what to order! Scallop tacos- typical soft flour tortilla tacos (2) to an order with tons of perfectly cooked and sweet scallops. You could nix the tortilla and just have the scallops, they were that good. They also tasted amazing dipped into the leftover butternut squash ravioli sauce ;) Now that's a good combo! Rabbit gnocchi- this was like a taste of Autumn in a dish. Tender, moist rabbit. Cubed butternut squash, kale, cranberries, seeds. Very flavorful. Seafood tagliatelle- Crab, shrimp, clams, mussels in a light wine/olive oil sauce. This was a bit like soup with noodles. The pasta kept sliding off the fork, it was awkward and difficult to eat even with trying to twirl the pasta onto the fork. It was a bit bland. Seafood was cooked well and tasted fresh. Brownie sundae. Omg. Two squares of brownie, with fluffy marshmallow in between. Peanut butter ice cream on top. The best combo, you can't go wrong with this. Pear martini was addictive and delicious. Perfectly sweet, cold, and had the right amount of alcohol. Makers Mark apple cider drink- delicious. Warm and appley lol. Nice Autumn drink! The female bartender could've been a bit happier to be working the night of our visit. She barely cracked a smile. Nice spot in a random little plaza - good ambiance and very friendly staff. It was bustling on a Friday night but we were able to call right before we wanted to go and they were able to accommodate. Drink option is plentiful and menu looked great. The duck was "fine" tasting. Just missing a bit of flavor. The cabbage side it came with though was delicious. I don't understand the delusion here, not sure how this place has 4 stars. It's about as forgettable and mediocre as it gets. Nobody really liked anything they had, out of 4 people at our table. The portions were actually small but they made them seem bigger but putting them on big plates. The burger was tiny and tasteless. The vegetables were clearly frozen, microwaved and bland. The drinks have like ZERO alcohol in them. The food was basically as interesting and generic as the name of the restaurant itself. Me and my hubs decided to try this place after my bff raved about it. The food definitely seemed fresh I just wasn't a fan. My burger had like no real taste to it but it was good quality meat. I did like the look of the place and my hubs liked his drink plus at least he had bacon on his burger. Maybe I shoulda tried with bacon lol. The truffle fries were good! Lobster bisque was good also. When we first walked in there was no host so we just stood there for a few minutes sort of awkward. It was busy so I'll give them that but eh. I found this spot through a yelp search for a location in Jericho near the LIE for a lunch meeting. It's hidden away in a shopping mall off of Broadway(107). It's next to the Milleridge Inn. We called for reservations but were told that we don't need reservations for lunch. In fact when we arrived about 12:15 there was only 1 table with diners. We picked a corner booth. It's a nice looking, rustic style restaurant. There was a big chalkboard specials list including wine and beers along with lunch specials. If you are in a hurry for lunch this place is not for you. There was a fairly long wait for our lunch which was fine for us since we were not in a rush. The upside of that is they do not rush you out and we probably stayed 2 hours. Prices can be high for some meals but there was a decent amount of $15 option such as bison burgers, regular burger and fish sandwich. I got the local fish sandwich which was pan seared and served on a bun with a sauce, tomato and lettuce along with skinny fries. The fish was perfectly cooked. By 1:00 it did get crowded but there were still some empty tables. Service was very good. read more

Market Bistro is one of the few classy spots that is open late (ish) in the Jericho/Westbury area. I have only been here for drinks with friends on Friday and Saturday nights. Market Bistro is a nice chill restaurant/bar to catch up with friends. Probably not the best place to come with kids. The lighting is dim, even a bit romantic. So if you are looking for a good date night restaurant or bar, Market Bistro would be a good choice. The location in a strip mall is not ideal. Market Bistro is next to a Marshall's and Cafe Dolce Vita, a casual pizza restaurant. But once you are inside. The experience at Market Bistro is generally top notch! The food is a bit on the expensive side - just something to be aware of before you eat at Market Bistro. read more

I've been here quite a few times and I'm just not impressed. They have the same 5 things on their menu and they can never make a mojito cuz they never have fresh mint. Tables are too close and there's no space. Tonight i unfortunately got really sick from the food and the food was not that great. I ordered creamed spinach and I got a bunch of sautéed spinach leaves, which were not bad, it just was not at all "creamed spinach". The service was horrible tonight! I had to ask for the waitress to bring water twice and I hadn't been drinking anything else but that. Everyone else had their alcoholic beverages and the waitress never came back to ask me if I had decided what drink I wanted. The waitress also walked past our table about 5 times and never bothered to ask me if I wanted my food wrapped up.
