I've been a Marken customer for 20+ years. I've purchased AC's, Swamp Coolers, and split AC from them. I personally don't have service contracts but every 2 years Marken service my equipment. Price is fair and technicians are professional and do a very good job. This company is amazing, I had the pleasure of working with Sheila and Frank. Sheila took my call on a Friday around noon. She got me scheduled for first thing on Monday morning. I was unable to be at my home during the early appointment, so they rescheduled me for later that afternoon. Sheila actually remembered me when I called! She was also SO nice! I know they were busy because the heat was ridiculous, but she was so friendly, I felt like we had known each other forever. Frank came to my home later that evening and was ridiculously friendly as well. I don't know how in the world he pulled that off because it was like 112 degrees outside and he was on my roof. He got me all fixed up, and did not charge me some outrageous amount. He also didn't try to upgrade me to things I didn't need and didn't treat me like I had no idea what was going on. I felt he was very trustworthy and honest with me. One of the best things about this company along with the awesome customer service, is they kept in contact with me the entire day of my appointment. They called me probably 4 or 5 times to let me know their ETA. I was so impressed with them. Obviously I have a shout out for Frank and Sheila. But I also wanted to give a shout out to the management. Marken Mechanical is a lifesaver. They have worked at my home on multiple occasions and today rescued a situation at a relative's home. She is a senior citizen and has been waiting two weeks in the Arizona heat to have her A/C repaired through her home warrantee company and the lousy A/C company they sent out. They said there was a part on order and it was going to take 6 more days to ship it here. I called Ken at Marken Mechanical and he sent a tech out right away this morning. These guys must be really good. They're so busy that they couldn't schedule a service call in three days. I finally gave up and called someone else. I called first on the weekend and was told that they were transferring phone lines and I would need to call on Monday. I called early in the morning and was told that he would contact my tenant shortly and schedule the appointment. On Wednesday morning I discovered that he never called. I called back and was assured that he would contact my tenant right away. At 4:00 that afternoon, my tenant contacted me and told me that he still hadn't heard from them. When I called a third time, I was told that they were just too busy to call customers. Must be nice to have that much business. They're not getting mine. read more

My neighbor recently narrowed down several potential HVAC companies to Marken as the best alternative for a new system. When I knew I needed a new system, I interviewed Marken and one other company. Marken was about $1,000 less expensive for basically a similar system. I opted to go with Marken. They showed up on time and installed the new system in a reasonable amount of time. They were friendly, careful, left no mess and caused no damage inside or out (which usually happens whenever a repair person comes to your home). They came out 5 times under direction of my Home Warranty company Old Republic last year... They would not recommend replacing the motors in my blowers and just kept trying to charge the A//C units and doing the least bit possible. Finally they just said that my builder DR Horton put the wrong size units for my house and left it at that. We had a newborn in the house and it would not get cooler than 85 degrees in the house. Low and behold my motors went out this year. Marken Mechanical would not recommend anything that would cost the home warranty company money... I will never hire dishonesty again read more

I would like to ad my honest opinion to this list of 5 star advocates for Marken Mechanical. They said it was just a low refrigerant charge and told me I had to call my landlord for authorization to ad refrigerant. For 500.00 Bob, why did they come to the house without something as important as "authorization from the LANDLORD." At this point I began to ask a few reasonable questions any customer would have whether they are just the tenant or the homeowner. After all I may not own the house but it's still my time isn't it? That's when Marken Mechanicals technician melted down in my living room and was asked to leave. When I found out they actually kept the 75.00 service call fee and told the insurance company they would not be returning to service the AC system that's when I lost my composure and decided to contact them via email and let em have it. Here are the email exchanges between myself and Ken the owner: I had an amazing encounter with one of your techs this morning. After about 10 minutes of gauge and meter reading he told me nothing was wrong with the system and it was just low on refrigerant. He then wanted authorization from my landlord to add refrigerant. I went ahead and sent the text to my landlord but it struck me as odd because I have never had an ac technician put up that kind of obstacle to good service before. Naturally I was suspicious of him because the system was looked at the day previous by a tech that charged it using temp. clamp, gauges and meters (your guy said he didn't use) and found that the system still was unable to cool acceptably. So yeah, I asked your tech a few questions and he immediately went on the defensive (which usually indicates a tech with limited know how) and started strutting around like a one legged rooster boasting about how many years of experience he had and how he "didn't have to take this" and "he wasn't going to play these games". I told him he could take his attitude elsewhere and called you guys to tell you about this technician you employ with these "exceptional sales skills". I came to find out that you guys still collected a 75 dollar service call fee for this after telling who ever that you didn't want to do business here! ???ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? You people are without merit and ethics and I intend to write a few very deserving reviews. Mark Mark, Jason is a very good technician and I have NEVER received a complaint regarding his customer service. I question why if you had a technician there yesterday, that he was not able to repair the unit. I wonder if he was even a licensed contractor???? Jason saw the pressures and aside from you saying he did not use temp gages, told me the unit had a 32 degree superheat. That is way too high. The pressures he noted were on the low side so he needed to add freon to see what happened with the pressures and superheat. He needed autho from the homeowner because AHS only pays $10.00 per lb and we charge $50.00 per lb for freon. Adding the refrigerant would have helped him to determine the problem. While you are the customer, you are the tenant not the homeowner. I find it odd that you have the knowledge as well top determine how we perform service on the unit. It is hot out and we provide awesome service but my technicians do not deserve to be questioned about how they are doing their job until given the opportunity to diagnose and repair. You sir were out of line for that reason. I am the one who informed the home warranty and had my dispatcher let the homeowner know that we would not return to provide service to this home as we felt you were unfair. As a shop foreman myself, I understand what is acceptable, professional behavior and what is not and that is why I told him he could take his attitude somewhere else. I would also ad that the mere fact that I would have to explain myself in such a manner is unreasonable in and of itself. If you have questions about why the unit could or could not be repaired then I suggest that your technician wasn't capable of determining that in addition to his inability to communicate that information to you in a professional manner. Excellent service. Second time we've used Marken. John arrived exactly on time, diagnosed the issue accurately, replaced the ran capacitor, and checked all the vents to make sure everything was working right. All within an hour and for $80. Very kind and trustworthy and wore booties inside the house which I appreciated. The first time our a/c went out we made the mistake of calling night and day due to their 4.5 star rating in yelp. They misdiagnosed the issue and suggested an $800 "fix" which they said may or may not address the issue. We called Marken for a second opinion and it turned out some insulation had come loose and they used spray glue to glue it back. This is why I trust this company. read more

I have been using Marken Mechanical for about three years now. I have them come at least one time per year for regular maintenance on my heat pump. (23 year old Trane unit). Most recently, in mid June, my wife called me from home to let me know that our AC was not cooling the house. I called Ken at Marken, they had someone at my house within 2 hours. The diagnosis, and correctly at that, was that my thermostat had failed. It was the old dial style. A new programmable thermostat was installed, and I was back in business. I also referred Marken to a friend and former co-worker of mine, after he told me that a different HVAC contractor had recommended that they needed an entire new system. After Marken went to his house, they recommended a repair for about $200. This was about a year and a half ago, and his system is still running like a champ. These guys are great! Contacted them on Thursday afternoon for my rental unit, and they were able to fit me in on Friday. They fixed the unit very quickly and had the A/C cranking cold air immediately for my tenants. Their price was very reasonable and fair, and they were able to conveniently take my card as payment over the phone. Will be using them again if any problems arise and to do the routine check ups. My rental unit A/C system is about 25 years old and has definitely out lived its life span. With that being said, the tech could have easily tried to up-sell me and nickel and dime me for a couple hundred bucks. Highly recommend Marken Mechanical!! read more
