We had a very positive experience with Total Vision. My 86 yo mom needed glasses for driving in order to pass her vision test at DMV for DL renewal. The prescription she was given by the Total Vision optometrist worked perfectly for her. The frame she was offered is also very nice. The whole deal had a very reasonable $125 price. Everybody at the front desk was very polite and attentive. We feel grateful. read more

Dr. Chung is the best eye doctor; however, the TOTAL VISION front desk workers -- who process payment -- are TERRIBLE. They make customer service a living nightmare. If you have any issues with your order, they make it DIFFICULT to make any adjustments. They talk to you like you are a child who doesn't know what you want. If I didn't respect Dr. Chung so much, I would have switched optometry offices by now. TOTAL VISION also charges you 3% if you use a credit card, so you MUST use a debit card if you don't want to be charged. It's a little outrageous during this day and age to ask clients to NOT use their credit card. read more

Very great team, got delivered my glasses on time - correct prescription. Yes, they tried to upsell the Neurolens to me - but that's business guys, let's be honest - everyone needs to make money. Total visit added up to 346$ - 168 for the visit+178$ for the frame+++lenses, which is really cheap compared to regular stores where the frame only would cost you 300-400$. Recommend this place. I would not recommend this location if you're looking for a legitimate eye exam or quality customer service. My doctor was okay (minus a few weird comments and insinuations on me being gay) but after walking out the priority is clearly selling expensive glasses--not patient care. During my appointment, one of their machines wasn't working properly, and instead of being upfront, they brushed it off and tried to use another machine without explaining the difference or how it might affect my results. They push Neurolens HARD, and it's obvious it's a commission play. The whole experience felt more like a sales pitch than an eye health visit. Their glasses are extremely overpriced, and after my appointment, they called trying to get me to purchase them--very pushy and uncomfortable. When I asked for a copy of my prescription, they were noticeably annoyed. I ended up ordering lenses online (which should be my right), but they weren't correct--turns out this office had two prescriptions on file and only gave me one. When I called to ask about it, they were incredibly rude. A staff member actually said, "That's what you get for ordering online." I was told to come in so they could look at my "cheap lenses" in person. I was actually nervous to go in based on how rude they were. The whole experience felt petty and unprofessional. I used to be a client of Dr. Chung. He was bought by total vision. I was loyal to him, even though they don't take my insurance. My last pair of glasses and the exam cost me $1460. I decided to get them because my old glasses frames had broken. Since my cataract surgery, my prescription didn't change much, when I got the new glasses, the prescription was way off. My near perfect distance vision was dangerously blurry. I was told to take them home and get used to them. I ended up leaving them at the office. Total vision as a corporation does not grant refunds, but they made an exception for me, or so they said. It was actually $100 less than what I paid. It's been 13 days since the original refund was issued. I have not seen any money, it is Friday before the three day Memorial Day weekend, and I have no money, and I won't be able to pay my rent on the first, or the second for that matter. People say my loyalty and willingness to pay that much for one pair of glasses is a stupid mistake, and now I see they were right. I do not recommend total vision. It's too bad, Dr. Chung is an excellent optometrist, but he doesn't have the administration to back up his work. Avoid the office, avoid the upselling, etc.. read more

This place is AWESOME! I originally got an eye glass prescription from a different optometrist in the Valley and then ordered eye glasses online. When the glasses arrived they gave me this fish bowl type of look which was making me nauseous when wearing them. I called up Dr Chung's office to see if they could review my glasses to check if everything matched with my script and they said they would do this COMPLIMENTARY. After bringing in the glasses they found the Optical Center of the glasses were not correct and that was giving me the fish eye appearance. This is very hard to get correct for mail orders since the Optometrist cannot fit the glasses for you. My advice if you are buying glasses online... just buy the frames and then have the optometrist do the lenses for you so that they can fit them correctly. I also found out that Dr Chung's office were in my Blue Cross insurance network and my eye visit would be covered next time. I had to pay $150 at the other place in the valley! I've been going to Dr. Chung for a few years now and have always found him to be knowledgeable and professional. Frankly, I'm surprised by the onslaught of one-star reviews. I had my annual check-up recently. Was promptly tended to. When my prescription went up in one eye, he asked me how many of my contacts I still had left, and when I did, he went ahead and ordered me the corresponding matching lenses free of charge. Dr. Chung is a lovely person, so I am giving two stars instead of one. Dr. Chung stopped listening to me. For the past two years, I have told Dr. Chung that I cannot see when wearing the glasses filled with my current prescription and that I have had to wear my old glasses from three years ago. I said my current prescription is too strong, causing computer and television screens to look distorted and my depth perception to be off. During my most recent visit, he wanted to give me the same prescription for the third consecutive year and would not take my feedback seriously. He said those issues were because my eyes are not balanced, which might make sense except that I did not have the same problems when wearing my old glasses. I began questioning my sanity, so I decided to get a second opinion with a new doctor a few days later. Just as I had thought, the prescription was too strong. Plus, the doctor diagnosed my astigmatism in a different place. My new glasses from my new doctor work beautifully. read more

He told me the only option were Alcon daily contacts. They ended up being the most expensive ones and tried to make me buy glasses too when I said I didn't need glasses. I have been a customer of West Hollywood Optometric Center for many years. Dr. Chung is an excellent optometrist and the office staff is top-notch. They are friendly and helpful and very kind. I recently purchased new eyeglasses and had an allergic reaction to the material on the frames. I couldn't afford to purchase another pair of glasses and my insurance only covers new frames every two years. To my surprise and good fortune, the office staff worked something out with my insurance company so that my glasses could be replaced. I didn't see Dr Chung but a new Dr who I liked and was very thorough and helpful. But I had to wait over 30 min for my appt. The office staff were horrible. I was over charged. I got two different frames with RX and they charged me twice for the same style. After months of phone calls and emails and dismissals "we spoke to the billing office and you were not over charged" I finally got through to them that I didn't get two of the same frame and the 2nd frame I got was much less. The manager agreed and promised to send me a check for the difference as well as to refund the warranty they sold me for 25.00 since I will not be coming back to ever use it. Got the check in the mail today and it is 15.00 less that what we agreed on. I don't have the energy to deal with these people further. I will never go back to any Total Vision after this experience. read more

I wait 15 minutes past my appointment time and was told, "Sorry, the doctor just texted us. She decided not to come in today." I hadn't had my eyes checked out in years and it was long overdue. I had to admit I was a bit nervous going in, but Kevin and Baker at the front desk were very welcoming and made sure I understood what I needed to before going in to see Dr. Fahimi. Dr. Fahimi got straight to the point and made sure that I was comfortable during the examination. If I had questions she would answer them with clarity. After the examination Kevin and Baker helped me pick out my frames (and I can be picky, but we landed on a pair very quickly!) and I was in and out in an hour. Could not speak more highly of this place. And yes now that I have them, my vision is crystal clear. They even made sure to run me through how to take proper care of my glasses. We had been regular clients and loved Mark and his staff is until Covid hit. When all of the sudden it became all about getting extra money for everything. For myself glasses that had just been purchased had a prescription that wasn't working well. My doctor told me to go back for a recheck so that the glasses could be redone. Mark was rude and said they were "fine" and refused to change the prescription. For my roommate he said if she wanted contacts (which she had used in the past so she knew how to use them) that she would need to pay for instructions on how to put them in . I know COVID made doing business harder but clients shouldn't have to pay for it with lesser more costly service. All it accomplished was us changing eye doctors. read more

I don't know what happened. The reviews seemed mostly good, but my wife's and my experience were terrible. The prescription for her was not right, and ironically not as good as a previous prescription 3 years ago. When one of my pairs of glasses were not ordered properly I went in and handed them back to the rep who had forgotten to make a note about needing to be progressives. It took awhile to get the new pair back and when I started using them, the resolution was not good. So like my wife, I am using glasses I got 3 years ago. Maybe they were having some bad days. Been sitting on this review for weeks now, and you'll understand why. I really needed new glasses and unfortunately my old optometrist moved too far for me - this center was in walking distance and took my insurance so I figured I'd give them a try. The office itself could use a makeover, but otherwise I didn't have any red flags until after I placed my glasses order - since my prescription had changed pretty drastically I ordered both regular glasses (using my insurance) and prescription sunglasses. After the standard 2 weeks had passed, I gave them a call to check in on my order. Sunglasses had arrived, but no regular glasses. The person on the phone said they'd look into it and call me back later that day. No call, so I go ahead call back in 1-2 days to follow up. She says she'll call me back. No call. So once again, a few days later, I call yet again. This time the woman says something about me having picked them up already - I assure her I did not, so she says she's going to talk to the optometrist and get back to me. Can you guess what I heard days later? Crickets. AGAIN I call. Finally the optometrist is available to talk to me and explains that my frames were shipped to the wrong location so they're going to expedite my order since at this point it's been around 4 weeks since the initial order was placed (2 weeks overdue). 3 weeks after that I finally get my glasses (7 weeks since the order was placed, 5 weeks overdue). Now to be clear I'm not upset about the initial accident of the frames going to the wrong place; these things happen. What I AM miffed about is the lack of communication and indeed proactiveness. If they were more professional they would've been able to notice that an order was missing, find out what happened, and THEN reach out to tell me they'd be late. I don't even think they noticed or cared until my 4th phone call to them (which again, was done after several promises of THEM calling ME back). Ultimately I think this is a result of this office being part of a larger corporation that values inflated profits above all else, so I wouldn't be surprised if all this happened due to an overworked staff. That being said, if Total Vision Care does indeed value profits, maybe putting a little more effort in customer service training will help to actually retain customers - cause I know I sure won't be giving them my business in the future (and I'm sure I won't be the only one). All they seem to care about is adding line items to your bill!! Definitely NOT the same practice that it was when Dr. Chung was there more regularly. My husband and I have been faithful patients for the last eight years and spent thousands of dollars on contact lenses, glasses and examswith Dr. Chung. After complaining of some suspected weakness in the left eye and the eye doctor agreeing with me after my exam, she came in to do the contact lens fitting with the same prescription I came in with! I reminded her that she was going to increase my prescription and she said that she was just going to check them anyway. I explained I don't want to pay $170 for a contact lens fitting of my old lenses! Of course, at the checkout desk I was rung up for a contact lens fitting! Once again, I objected, and I was told that if I did not pay for the contact lens fitting that they would not order my new contact lenses for me. Somebody's going to have to explain to me why it is mandatory to pay for a fitting of your old lenses when you aren't going to wear them again!? And I can't have my new ones because I didn't just roll over and pay for a fitting a contact lenses that were being changed anyway! Beyond them, trying to force me to pay for a service that I did not receive and hold my new prescription for contact lenses hostage, the customer service and attitude of the two people in the front office was just deplorable! From the moment I walked in, nobody even bothered to look up or acknowledge me. It's a very small waiting room, approximately 80 ft.² no way they did not see me walk in yet, I stood at the desk for quite some time trying to make eye contact with the two front office people and finally seating myself, when I realized I was not going to be acknowledged. It was shortly after that that the front desk person looked up at me and asked me if I had been helped in a very passive, aggressive demeanor as if I was expected to stand at attention until addresses! Normally people who do that try to temper themselves slightly when they are running somebody else's front office. If you like being lied to on a weekly basis, this is the place for you. I went in Thursday March 2nd for an eye exam. Placed my order for two pairs of glasses, a pair of transition lenses and a pair of prescription sunglasses and was told 1-2 weeks for them to arrive. I received my sunglasses after only one week and was told the other ones weren't ready yet. A week passes by and no news. I called to check how much longer it was going to be and Kayla was kind enough to do some digging and found out that for some reason, there was a mistake when they submitted the glasses to the insurance but she was going to pass the information and do a rush order so I could have them by the 4th week. 4 weeks pass and again, no news. I give it until half way through the 5th week to check on them again. Kayla was very helpful and passed me through to her supervisor, Mitra. She couldn't wait to get me off the phone, kept speaking over me, cutting me off. Pretty much just making me feel like I shouldn't be upset over not having my prescription glasses. She then proceeded to tell me that the reason they were taking too long is because the frames were in backstock but she would call all the stores to find them for me. I let her know that it didn't sound right because I had already spoken to other employees multiple times and I was given two different reasons. She then changed the story 2 or 3 times while we were talking and kicked me off the phone "or else she wouldn't get the order in" and I would not be able to receive my glasses soon. She assured me that they would be ready for me by Wednesday the 19th(7 weeks after I got my exam) I agreed to wait. Wednesday comes around and surprise, surprise, no call. I call back Thursday and ask if they're in and Kayla let me know that they didn't arrive but they would be there by Friday. Friday comes and Kayla gives me a call to let me know that they didn't arrive, apologized and said they should be here by Monday. At that point, I let them know I wanted a refund because I felt like I was being lied to by Mitra. She kept making excuses, being rude on the phone, and just didn't care about the costumer. I went in today to pick up my prescription in order to get my glasses from somewhere else and was speaking to Kayla when Mitra jumps in (turns out that Mitra is the same person that my wife had told me was really rude to her when she picked up her frames. She was talking down and being so dismissive that she didn't even get her frames adjusted because of how she was treated. I spoke to her and tried to let her know how unbelievably unprofessional and she would not let me get more than a couple of words out. She is so rude and kept trying to speak louder and louder until I had to let her know that I needed to finish what I was saying. Worst experience I've ever had. We will wait to see how long my refund takes. I really loved how great Dr Mark Chung and I can't say enough nice things about Kayla. She is the only person that was decent enough to try to help and was genuinely concerned. She deserves a medal and a raise for dealing with Mitra. We will never be going back there again and I feel so embarrassed for recommending this place to so many people. read more

Wow... five out of five is pretty much the score of the day here, now that I look closer. I too had a very good experience this morning, so I'm not too surprised. They take my insurance, and they're walking distance from home, so it was an easy choice... I called only two days ago and they had an opening for me this morning, and it's a Saturday. Bonus! Arrived a bit early, filled out a touch of easy quick paperwork, and went back with the assistant about five minutes after my scheduled appointment time. In and out fast, then she helped me pick out frames. When we realized my insurance is weak, she showed me the discontinued frames that were heavily discounted. The cool thing is, I got a paid of $300 frames from Prodesign: Denmark - titanium and everything - for under my $95 coverage... so... free. I paid $10 for the visit, $20 for the lenses, and they'll be ready in a few weeks. Very sharp, very light, very satisfied. This is my new place as long as I'm living in LA! read more

Dr. Chung truly runs a courteous, professional medical practice. My husband, who is an ophthalmologist in Orange County, and I were in LA for a few days during the Memorial Day weekend. My husband forgot to pack his contact lenses so we called Dr. Chung's office, which was the closest optometry office to our hotel, and we spoke to George. We explained our situation to George and asked if we could possibly purchase some contact lenses from their office as a professional courtesy, from doctor to doctor. George was so polite and helpful. He gave my husband 2 strips of daily contact lenses as a professional courtesy. I offered to pay for the lenses but George refused to take payment from me. Dr. Chung's office is a lifesaver. My husband is over a -5.00 and can't see anything without corrective lenses. Even though I didn't get to meet the doctor himself, his staff and their courteous standard of care is a testament to the doctor's professionalism and how he practices optometry.
