Loved it! This is a great little place in Mesa. After leaving L.A. I didn't think that I would find a place this good. I see that Mariscos El Viejon has a great following. I never saw a restaurant turn tables like this place has. If you're looking for a place just to have taco and drinks or a nice dinner, then this is a must try. This will be our new get a way.

Excellent coastal style Mexican restaurant. We can't say enough about it. We're natives raised in Yuma and spent time in the gulf most vacations, so we know gulf shrimp. The shrimp cocktail was great, with diced veggies just how we love! (Us stateside gringos do like a little horseradish in ours though, so I added some ketchup and imagined it was our family recipe). He had the simple butterflied prawns/shrimp, no breading. Messy, so get extra napkins. I had the beef/shrimp fajitas - lots of caramelized onions and 3 colors of bell peppers. Tasty put into great midsize flour tortillas! Beef was slightly dry - my ONLY 'mini-gripe.' Rice was awesome. Frijoles were decent to me, my hubby loved them, and he says my taste buds are off (true, for a few days now). If you hate traditional Mexican music, bring your earplugs. . Us gringos from border towns are accustomed to it. Just breathe and imagine you're in Ensenada, Rosarito, or Acapulco. Sad they were out of their famous dessert. By the way, they're hiring - still saying "No one wants to work!" Worried about Covid19? The waitresses wear masks as of June 5th 2021 but no guests were wearing them on this Saturday night. The chefs aren't either. This is a place to FORGET about 2020. We don't mind. We're ready to breathe ourselves without a constant reminder. Have a bucket of beer or a margarita.

I had ice tea and wife ordered the blood orange jenny drink; both were great and refreshing! I also ordered a loaf of their warmed sourdough and butter to share with the table. Almost like being in San Francisco! For dinner we decided to share a couple of things; the crab cakes, which comes with fried avocado and some of the best aioli for dipping. The cakes themselves are big and full of crab with just the right amount of filling to create a decadent and moist cake! We also shared the seared jumbo scallops...High Tides knows how to cook scallops to the best! So yummy and tender and perfectly cooked with that crispy outer and the soft, creamy inside. We also shared a Caesar salad and one of the things we love about this place...ask and you can get some fresh anchovy on the side to add to the salad. Wife always asks for more lemon as well to drizzle over the salad. Overall a fantastic dinner for us and everyone with us!

Spice level was medium and went with the 88 Special seasoning (a combination of cajun, garlic butter, and lemon pepper) - AMAZING flavor!! Perhaps my favorite aspect was that their seasonings were not overly salty - I feel that most other seafood boil restaurants just include way too much salt in their seasonings... but at Pier 88, you can really indulge without feeling like you're going to end up with high blood pressure! Extras included corn, sausage, and potatoes... and those were all delicious as well! I couldn't have been happier with this meal... so I will definitely return again soon! This place looked like it did a good seafood boil and was located near where our hotel was. Upon entering we were greeted and sat right away. He ordered a shrimp basket while I ordered my usual snow crab. Heads up, all the supplies will be brought in the bottom of the discard bucket like gloves, lemons, and crab crackers. I wasn't aware of this, and placed all the discarded items on top of it while eating bareheaded as I didn't see supplies, and no one was around to ask. Usually places will bring on the side, and I wish I was told that in advance when it was brought to the table. It made for quite the mess, but if we return I'll know for next time. Once our server returned to check in after 10+ minutes that's when we were advised, and I adjusted though I had put my boil bag in there so most had been soiled. As for the food, he liked his shrimp while I thought the crab was okay in flavor/spice. It didn't really standout out like other places I've been to recently, but overall I would return if I was in the area.

I couldn't even get them to soften in the soup. I had to scoop them out. I know they didn't cook the oyster crackers, but maybe pop open a bag every once in a while and test them. Main dish, my favorite, was the Sauteed N'Awlins BBQ Shrimp. I've been getting this dish for years. This time, the shrimp seemed maybe a little overcooked, or something. The meat of the shrimp was becoming a little stringy, but they were still very tender. So, I still enjoyed it. This has always been our choice for a birthday meal, either mine or another family member's. We NEVER tell the staff because we don't want an embarrassing fuss. This year, I had read online that they don't do singing here. So, I mentioned it was my birthday, and I got a free Butter Cake for dessert--another old favorite. Service was top-notch, as always.
