YOU BETTER ORDER THE GOBERNADOR TACOS!!! This is a VERY busy hole in the walls spot. Doesn't look like much on the outside but super busy indoors. Parking- kinda sucks. I'll be honest, I parked at the Carl's Jr. which I don't recommend. But my car was not towed and I did not get a ticket! Service- the servers there we super fun and friendly. Theo recommendation was FANTASTIC!!! Drinks- typical Spanish drinks like michelada, margarita, import beers etc. nothing crazy special about them, but definitely tasty. FOOD- TRY THE GOVERNADOR TACOS!!! they are cheesy shrimp tacos......I ADD ASADA and holy crap they were fantastic. It comes with three so may not seem like a lot to most people but they are BIG!!! (All orders have chips and salsa) Casual vibes. No need to dress up. Super fun spot. read more

Mariscos Choix - Low quality picture but TRY THE Gobernador Tacos!!!! THEY ARE BOMB - Seafood Near Me - Downey, California

Andre was an amazing server! Everything we ordered tasting great, great service! The chris decorations were a nice touch, i loved the vibe.

About a week ago, I stopped by and make an order of two tostadas the ceviche they come on the only thing they got more onions and tomatoes than shrimp. The large cocktail shrimp only got five shrimp on it. What a robbery I will never come back again. read more

Live the new remodel! Great ambience, food and service. I enjoy the music as well. Highly recommend!

Not the freshest tostada i've had, however it was edible lol.... I gotta come back to fully give my review. So I came back and just have to give this place a review.... If you want fresh mariscos... THIS IS NOT THE PLACE, the shrimp they use taste so fake and are so small, We came here because we had family out of Town that are from Choix, Sinaloa.... And they wanted to check it out. I don't know why people Hype this place up.... This place is OK-AY if you have no where else to go to get micheladas, Watch the games or listen to music... but the food 0/10.... The owner just replied back to my comment and he is absolutely right, it is absolutely horrible to see comments like this. However, it is important to have QUALITY, specially for a place where seafood is being served.... To the owner.... Change the quality of your shrimp to a better tasting, fresh product and watch your business flourish even more.... I literally just scrolled through the reviews customers left on the business Mariscos Choix Downey... And there's about 33 3 stars and under left reviews on his business, I don't know why he said it is " EXTREMELY RARE " to leave comments such as mine.... He probably by passed ALL those reviews that were left in the span of the last 8 months..... if ya'll want QUALITY. This is NOT the place... and honestly this is a shame to serve cheap seafood, .Mariscos from Choix, Sinaloa DO NOT TASTE LIKE THIS.... Changed my review from 2 stars to 1. read more

I was a patron of this restaurant prior to their remodeling. This is my first time visiting after the renovation. The food is still delicious and a bit more expensive but that's to be expected. The place looks amazing. We ordered drinks and tacos and we were not disappointed. We decided to come on a weekday and it was not too crowded. They did a great job with the decor., it looks modern and tropical. We will definitely return. read more

This place is an absolute revelation. We came during the middle of the week and found a nice sized crowd - great sign that people don't wait only for the weekend to come here! We ordered a little bit of everything - empanadas, guacamole, camarones cucarachas, tacos gobernador, and a tostada de ceviche (a few others but I can't remember). My personal favorite were the camarones cucarachas which are shrimp with some kind of red Chile paste - they are my new obsession. My lady was in love with the empanadas - gotta try them with the Diablo salsa (thanks to our server, Itzel, for that recommendation). Speaking of our server, Itzel, the service was absolutely top notch. She went above and beyond to make die our experience was fantastic. On top of all that, they had live music going and it was Great! We can't wait to go back and see else they have to offer us! read more

Since reviews help new customers I leave the honest opinion based on my experience in this restaurant. I started working near the neighborhood. Food was below average and drink was super expensive to compare to very high end places. $ 24 just for one single drink which was barely any alcohol in it . $ 50 dollars for this. The steak taco was fat taco. I even brought up the matter to the waitress. There was just a chunk of fat in the taco with barely any meat , steak, Obviously who likes to eat fat? It is obvious that is the quality and there is no misunderstanding nor miscommunication. It is simple you order a food and you receive the lowest possible version of it . Simple read more

Food was great! Seated quickly without reservation. Staff was friendly and the live music was the cherry on top!

Hidden authentic Mexican restaurant. Reminded us of our time in Cabo, but the food here was superior. The entire menu is in Spanish. When we went on a Friday, they had a live band playing. Parking is at the lot nearby the CVS and there was a security guard the night we went. Great drinks, food, and the service was attentive. The food is actually spicy if you ask for it. Their side salsa is very flavorful and also spicy. If it's your first time, they will give you a free gift for your next visit. read more

I believe this restaurant to be one of the best location for Mariscos in Los Angeles area. The food is phenomenal, fresh, and tasty! I love the shrimp Baja tacos and the Campechana Cocktail. The service is another reason why I enjoy this location so much. Kevin was our waiter during this visit and I appreciated his attentiveness and mannerism with our party. He definitely solidified this establishment as a 5 star mariscos restaurant! Thanks Kevin and everyone at Mariscos Choix! read more

The beer was ice cold, the food was delicious, and the service from our server Moises was excellent. Always a great experience here.

Highly recommend giving this restaurant a try! Great service from beginning to end. Came on a Thursday evening there was no wait time/ got seated immediately. The drinks and food was great. We ordered fish tacos and aguachiles which were definitely on our list of one of the best we've had. Our server Carlos was very attentive and helpful with items on the menu. Live music was great. This place was okay, nor what I was expecting. The drinks are really good but food is just okay. Service is fantastic here but not the best parking situation. You have to park across the street and restaurant is on a busy street so it can get loud in the patio with police or ambulance driving by. I would say this place would be good for appetizers and drinks but for mariscos, there are better tasting spots read more

Finally decided to give this place a try after so long & all I can say is that They really need to get training on customer service. Not once did we get acknowledged. Stood there for several minutes waiting ..they kept walking & chitchatting among themselves about personal matters. I kept trying to get their attention but not even, "I'll be with you soon" If we didn't get good customer service at the very beginning, I can only imagine their service after being seated. read more

Cane here on a Friday for early dinner and had a good time. They have a DJ and bands on Friday's. They have different seating areas from comfy couches outside to tall tables. The food was delicious and spicy the way I like it. They give you complementary tostadas with a spicy dip. I got the mixed tostada and it was big so I shared with my husband. We also had the shrimp tacos and they were bomb. The service was also great and prompt. Would definitely be back. They don't have parking but I saw people parking across the street by the CVS. Not sure if they share parking. read more

Food was delicious, attentive server named Moises was very kind. Ambience and music were nice . Good place for lunch on a weekday.

It was our first time here and my husband and I absolutely loved everything - the food, the service, and especially our server, Andrew! He was honestly one of the best servers I've encountered recently. He checked in at just the right moments, always anticipating what we might need without ever being intrusive. His recommendations were spot-on, and he even thoughtfully suggested the perfect sauces to pair with each dish - without any pressure at all. You can really tell he cares about the guests' experience. The tacos were delicious, the ceviche was amazing, and honestly, every dish we had was just so good - even the crackers were so good. lol We also got a welcome coupon, so we're definitely coming back soon! So happy to have such a great Mexican restaurant here in Downey! read more
