First timer! The wait wasn't that long maybe about 20 minutes. My server was Melissa. She was very attentive. Brought us extra napkins which is very important to me. We had the Camarones a la Diabla. She made sure to warn us that it was extremely spicy. which it was but we had the sauce on the side. We also had the mango shots that were very good and the pajuel shots that were also very good. Mariscos Choix was the best decision my boyfriend and I made looking for a seafood place. We are huge Mariscos lovers and are usually really picky when trying new places but this is the SPOT. Our server Guadeloupe was amazing and super friendly! She recommended good items on the menu and made us feel comfortable. The flavor of the agua Chile's was outstanding and spicy (which we love) The shrimp tacos which were $2 for happy hour were delicious and filled us up completely. My boyfriend and I went on New Year's Day. We saw this place on instagram and needed to try it. We ordered the Molcajete mixto and enjoyed the various items in that little bowl of heaven. I'm glad we didn't order anything else cuz we were so full. It was absolutely delicious and I don't say that often about restaurant food. Anyways the employees were also nice and attentive. My wife and I have done a disservice to ourselves for many years...we have always passed by Mariscos Choix but never have we been there!!! What a mistake!!!! This past Sunday, we were searching for a spot to eat and finally decided to try this place. We've been in Downey for years yet this was the first time entering here. Every time we passed by, we saw a huge line so we knew it had to be good. Upon entering the building, we thought what a nice small place, then they walked us to the back!!! Wow!! It opened up so much and we were amazed! Our waitress Itzel was awesome! I always order a Michaelada wherever I go to see if I'm going to like the place. This was one of the best I've ever had!! She recommended the Tacos Sinaloenses...oh man!!!! The flavors were jumping off the plate. Each bite was a shot of spice, shrimp, queso and excitement! Itzel also recommended two different margaritas for my wife, first a sweet one and then spicy. My wife enjoyed the drinks. We also tried the tacos mar y tierra and loved them. Lastly, we tried the Aguachile in green chili. That was super spicy!! My wife loves spicy food and it was almost too much for her but we loved the heat, lemon and shrimp combination. It was a perfect match!!Overall, Itzel and the team there were amazing!!! Itzel took the time to talk to us. She made us feel like we were part of the family and also guided us through the menu. Our journey was met with smiles, check ins and an energy of excitement, enjoyment and happiness to be there. We consistently had people checking in on us, getting us tostadas and salsa, and other stuff. It was like they wanted us to be more than just served food and drink but to be happy to be there. They cared!! We loved the food, atmosphere and drinks! While we were there, we were making plans with friends to come back. We kept sending them pictures and details of all the new food we were enjoying. Glad to finally be a part of what many Downey residents already knew about and enjoy here.
