There are very few places to go these days for custom suits, tuxedo's and alterations - especially ones that are not expensive corporate stores. Mario delivers an old school charm and ability to do just about everything. Mario is an Italian immigrant who spent many years in this industry including working at West Point and fitting/altering cadet uniforms. I've trusted him enough to fit me for my wedding tuxedo, and subsequent visits have had him alter other clothes, customize a suit, and order tuxedo's for other events. Compared to renting tuxedo's form "Men's Warehouse," Mario is much more trustworthy in his approach to measuring and making sure everything fits when it arrives. His prices are also fair and everything is received promptly He essentially runs the business in his house (separate side entrance) off of Titusville road. If you blink you may miss it, so look for the sign on his front yard (took a picture of it when I stopped by today). AVOID- Your dress will come back smelling like cigarettes! Here's my terrible experience: $90 just to make a dress shorter, seems overpriced but I agreed anyway. When I went back to pick up my bridesmaids dress a week later, he couldn't find the dress at all. At this point I was livid that he lost my dress with the wedding 2 days away! Eventually I found (again, I found it..not him) it rummaging through his store and it WASN'T ALTERED at all. I was clearly shocked however he was not apologetic; in fact he said "it's not a big deal". Well, not a big deal to him but it was a big deal to me! Doesn't end there, the dress had blood on it around where the pins were- he pricked his finger while pinning it (to mark where he needs to alter it) and stained my dress that he forgot to alter. I took the dress away from him to a different tailor. DO NOT GO HERE!! HE MAY LOSE YOUR DRESS, FORGET TO ALTER IT OR STAIN IT!!! read more

I brought my new Army Service Uniform ("dress blues") in to Mario to get alterations on a relatively short deadline - 2 weeks latest, I asked for 1 week - and though he ended up taking two days longer than I asked (short deadline in the middle of prom season - my fault), the work done was of high quality and doing business here was a pleasure. I've never been to a tailor before so I got lucky picking Mario because it turns out he actually used to work at West Point and is used to tailoring military uniforms. Pricing seemed reasonable but I don't actually know for sure comparably - it was $62 total for 5 different alterations. For example, tailoring the sleeve length of my jacket cost $19 if you want to compare other businesses. Just so you know, Mario's is a small business run out of a dedicated tailor shop attachment to his house and there is a small sign in the lawn that is somewhat easy to miss. You can skip this guy. First issue, he hadn't done work on two pairs of slacks I needed for vacation. Second issue, and worse, he moved 6 cuff buttons for me on a silk blouse (3 on each sleeve), for which I paid him $12 When I wore the blouse, the buttons on one sleeve had not been done properly and the cuff fell to the middle of my fingers instead of staying at the wrist. When I went back and politely asked him to correct the problem, without additional charge, he refused. Offered me $3., which I did not take, and told me to do it myself. Said I was being hostile, which was not true as I made it my business to be very polite and conciliatory. He has a very bad attitude. Maybe has more work than he can handle. Go elsewhere! read more

I was very disappointed with Mario. I had a special project I wanted completed using my deceased husband's neckties. I wanted to make them into ladies' handkerchiefs for my daughter and granddaughters. Mario ASSURED me that he could do this project. However, when I went to pick them up, he told me he was not able to do it because he didn't have the right sewing machine! He could have figured that out BEFORE he cut all five ties and ruined them! Would not recommend him for anything other than a simple hem. read more

If you want to be treated rudely, charged a lot and get your clothes back reeking of cigarette smoke this is the place to go. My daughter called me extremely upset asking me to bring her perfume because she had just picked up her wedding gown from Mario's after he altered it and gone to the church to get ready and the gown reeked of cigarette smoke. I called today to talk to the business about the situation and Mario's wife was extremely rude to me. I told her about the gown stinking of cigarette smoke and she blamed other customers and rudely demanded of me if I thought she should tell her customers not to smoke (no other store I know of allows smoking inside it) or wear perfume or have their clothes dry cleaned before bringing them there - no apology, just total rudeness. I said several times about her being rude to me and she nastily said back to me that I was being rude to her and hung up on me. My husband called the business because of the rude way I was treated and was informed by Mario I was not talked to rudely (really? Talking to a customer very nastily, attacking them instead of apologizing and hanging up on them is not rude??) and that he had no control over the clothes he worked on reeking of cigarette smoke. What do they do? Throw all the clothes together? My hubby suggested keeping the clothes separate and was told he has such a small area that isn't possible. Seriously? I have NEVER picked up my clothes from reeking from cigarette smoke from any other business. ALL garments should be treated with care, and ESPECIALLY a wedding gown should be. read more

Mario is wonderful! I've used him over the past few years for alterations on special occasion dresses. Just this month I went to Mario for alterations on my wedding gown. He works quickly and my dresses always come out perfectly. He is the best around and I would absolutely recommend him to my friends and family. read more
