TLDR: Told me to lose weight then refused to do the alterations to make it fit better. Lost one of my wedding dresses and I had to search for it in the back room myself - then blamed it on me for their mislabeling. Messed up my dress so badly that I had to go elsewhere for complete revisions and potential new dress. They track things with pen and paper which is not working for them - and makes it an unfair your word vs. what they wrote situation.
This was one of the absolute worst customer experiences of my life and caused so much stress. I left 2 out of my 3 appointments hysterically crying.
I had two wedding dresses as I was having a church wedding (June wedding dress) and a bigger reception (July wedding dress). In my 1st appointment while trying on my July wedding dress Blanca said, "Have you thought about losing 2-3 pounds?". My dress was tight in my hips, but the place I bought my dress assured me I would be able to get it taken out. I said no and also it would be difficult for me to lose weight in my hips. She assured me that if I didn't lose weight by our 2nd appointment she would take it out in the hips (spoiler alert: she didn't).
Before my 2nd appointment, Blanca contacted me asking for photos of my June wedding dress. They needed these because they couldn't find my dress. This was 3 weeks before my wedding. When I arrived for my 2nd appointment it was still not found. Blanca asked me if I used any other names that it could be under and I said, No, I use one name. I eventually had to search the backroom MYSELF for my own wedding dress. I went through racks of other peoples gowns (photos attached). I didn't find it - but strangely as I was about to leave someone came up to me and said "This looks like the dress". It was my dress but was labeled under the name "Alexandra". Blanca had the audacity to turn to me angrily and say, "SEE! This is why I asked you if you used any other names." This literally made NO SENSE. I've never used any other names and there is no way I would have been able to tell her that it was under Alexandra. Her Team mislabeled it. During this entire situation she were incredibly rude and hostile.
Still within this appointment, I tried on my July wedding dress. I didn't lose the 3 lbs in my hips so I said okay, let's take it out as you promised. Blanca said No. She said she didn't think it would look good with the fabric. Which of course caused panic. She also showed me what she did with bustle and it looked SO bad. I asked her to remove it and try a different type.
In the 3rd appointment (yes, I don't know why I didn't leave after the 2nd) when trying on my July dress, there was no bustle to be seen. I asked her about the new bustle and she said "We never talked about that." Which we did but because she didn't write it down on her sheet she could claim we never did. After I took off my dress she came out, "Oh, actually we did do a bustle!". So she lied and tried to make me feel like I imagined the conversation.
When it was time to pay she told me my total "with the discount for the troubles of them losing my dress". I asked what the total would have been w/o the discount but all Blanca kept saying was "It would have been much more. It would have been a lot more." I basically begged her to tell me how much the total would have been and she refused. So I paid $1,000 for the worst customer experience, stress-inducing situation of my life.
I had to take my dress back to the place I bought my dress - they recently brought in an in-house seamstress. This seamstress was shocked at how badly they altered my dress. I didn't even have a chance to get into it above but Blanca also made my bodice way too small and CUT the material out so when the new seamstress tried to fix it there was no fabric to adjust. The store I bought it at ultimately got it to what they called a "9/10" because there was no way they could completely undo the bad alterations Blanca and her team did. At one point they bought a new "emergency" dress for me as they were unsure if they could even fix my dress at all. read more
