Marions on Stroop did me dirty. I often order the same lunch special. Half a pizza with 2 toppings and drink for 6 bucks. Delicious and affordable. Except today, they made my half a pizza with someone else's. I saw him being it out of the oven and it had a stripe down the middle about 1.5 inch wide with zero toppings. I get that we would have complained about mingled toppings. But that's a lot of cheese pizza percentage wise. And, I brought it up to the guy who brought the pizza from the oven and he tried to gaslight me saying that's how it always is. Uh, no. I get this a bunch and it always 1. Cooks alone and 2. The people behind the counter were great. It's all counter service, including drinks. It's always been that way. The ambiance is like a little piazza, again, different from what you might be used to. My best friend and her husband rave about this place. One of the best local pizzerias in Dayton. After months of waiting, we got to visit this gem! I felt like I stepped back in time. Very nostalgic and kept everything original. From the decor,furniture, signage and even down to their uniforms. I can respect a place like that. They had kiddie bubblegum and claw machines, you pick your drinks from a refrigerator (gas station style), or they have wine by the carafe/glass, small selection of beer on tap. Besides pizza, they do have salads, pasta (spaghetti and meatballs & lasagna), sandwiches. Of course we had to get the pizza. We ordered: Large Super Cheese Marion's style Large Pepperoni Chablis (Carafe) Amber bock 40 oz Miller lite After you order, they give you a number. They call your number over an intercom. Alcohol beverages are sold at another register. We got our meals and I swear.... Their pizza is hands down one of the best! It's unique! The sausage is ground up so fine, that it's not salty and can taste the quality of the meat. And the way they sliced their pizzas are into small bite sizes. The sauce and crust is incredible! The Pepperoni was also delicious. Seasoned well and loved the sauce. I have to say I enjoyed every bit of the pizza and loved the atmosphere. Lived in Cincinnati for three years, and one of the things I missed the most was this pizza. It's no wonder Dayton is known for Marions. Family coming to town always wants to eat here, and take a few home. Others have them shipped. I usually go for vegetarian pizza, this is the only pizza I have meat on - their everything. My first trip to Marion's Pizza since the 1970s The pizza was OK. The service was better than average and it's extremely limited service simply because you've gotta order from a front desk. You go sit down you gotta get up to get your drink. You gotta get up to go to the beer, bartender girl to get your own drinks, then bring it back to the table. Anything you need at your table plates napkins whatever you've gotta get up and get it yourself I just do not understand this self service concept when you go out to eat it's mind-boggling to me. I'm going to give them three stars if the waitresses actually came out to wait on the patrons that come to their place of business they could easily be four stars but when I go out to eat spending good hard earned money and I've gotta do all the work myself I'm surprised they didn't ask me to bust my own table and clear everything off when we were finished We were a large group of about at least 20 guys there for our private golf league meeting and we sat in the back and a pretty far back out-of-the-way area where we could laugh Joke bullshit eat drink and be married, but every single person had to wait in line upfront by the cash register and place an individual order and then come back up to pick it up when they shout your order number for being finished over the loudspeaker. A couple good friends of ours rave about the pizza here so we definitely had to try it sometime. Nothing like a double date to serve as a good excuse to go, eh? And I can certainly say this place lived up to my expectations. Such a classic pizza dive in every sense. It reminded me of little pizza places I grew up loving back in North Carolina. As soon as we walked in, it felt like we stepped back in time to a classic pizza dive from the 60's. Such a cool, classic atmosphere. The menu wasn't huge but had great choices for pizza, salads, and sandwiches. Fancy an adult libation? They got some brews on tap, wines by the glass and decanter, and other libations in a cooler next to the bar (you can even grab a 40oz, and yes, I did). We ordered one large pepperoni pizza and one large Super Cheese pizza (Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions and green peppers topped with a mound of cheese) along with a few drinks (Amberbock, a decanter of chablis, and a Miller Lite 40oz). For each order, they give you a number, and when your number is called your order is ready. We hardly waited long at all before our pizzas were ready. And good? VERY! The pizzas were cut into squares which made them very easy to indulge in. These were certainly some of the best and most flavorful pizzas I'd had in a while. Even the simple pepperoni had tremendous flavor. Of course, we managed to finish all of them. I really dig the classic feel of this place, not to mention the excellent pizza. Whenever we come to Dayton, Ohio we always get pizzas at Marions - it has become part of our experience of visiting Dayton. Well the pizza had good flavor even thought the bottom of crust was nearly black and top of crust was wet doughy. Must of had ovens set way too high. And the place is filthy. Trash all over kitchen floor. Tables all over the place had plates and old drinks left on them. Only two other customers in entire place. And toilet was t any better. I will not go back to this place. Maybe clean the place and update a bit. The roof most likely leaking too as some of the 50 year old ceiling tiles had fresh water rings on them. read more

Dayton area staple!!! This is a must when we travel back to Ohio. They are amazing and never disappoint. I literally can eat an entire large pizza by myself and want more. Basically all the pizza are great. We love them all. We got a deluxe, half cheese and half pepperoni, ham and sauerkraut, gluten free small, and pepperoni, bacon and banana peppers. All so yummy. I ate way too much and was completely satisfied. These are thin crust pizzas that have the toppings edge to edge. If you are in Dayton and have never been you should stop and try them. Regrettably I had to give up on Marion's. They have a steak sandwich that I dearly love, BUT they can no longer make it right. THREE times in a row I ordered one for take out and THREE times in a row they didn't put the right things on it. I always get no cheese, they put cheese on it the first two times, and the 3rd time they didn't put mushroom gravy on it which is supposed to come on it automatically. I gave up, won't go back. I grew up in Dayton and when my family moved to NY, Marion's was one of the things we missed most! Now that I live in Ohio again I always try to stop at Marion's when I'm in Dayton. Their pizza is delicious, cut into almost bite size pieces, the thin crust and abundance of sauce and cheese make every bite amazing! The staff is super friendly and it's convenient that you order at the counter and then sit wherever you want. I'm not a native of Dayton so maybe that's why I'm not as much of a fan as others' are of Marion's pizza. I ordered a pizza with sausage, green peppers, mushrooms, and onion. What I got was what looked like mostly a sausage pizza. Pros: They don't skimp on the sausage. Cons: Couldn't even see that there was any cheese. Green peppers were cut up into tiny pieces, what little there was, and were so very overcooked (like maybe well in advance?). Mushrooms had the consistency of those coming from a can -- not fresh by any means. And, yeah, there were a few onions. Edible? Yes, I ended up eating the whole thing in 2 sessions -- thus the 3 stars instead of 2. Tip? If you want a sausage pizza, order a sausage pizza and skip the add-ons. read more

We came on a busy Sunday afternoon. This is one large pizza shoppe! I came to find out this is a longtime local favorite for Kettering with many other locations. I think i see why. The sauce is on the sweet side, the crust is thin, and the toppings are well endowed. All personal favorites. I also like how they cut the pie in two-bite sizes. Not so messy! Good pizza. 50 years ago, I ate here every Friday night with the rest of the Oakwood HS Marching Band after Friday night football games. In college, I played bass in the orchestra pit for the Kenley Players (the photos on the wall). I moved out of Oakwood so took a 50 year break. We ate here last Friday, 2017. The venue was clean, quiet, and a very pleasant atmosphere. I like that it does not have 30 TVs blasting ESPN. If I want to watch sports, I go to a sports bar. I came here to enjoy a nice quiet meal with the family. I got a medium deluxe with anchovies for me and a large cheese for the girls. Not only does the deluxe have the best sausage on earth, the anchovies keep others from eating my pizza. I'm Sicilian, so anchovies are in my blood. The food was awesome. It was weird that the customer has to order the food in one place and the drinks in another. I do not know of any other place that does this. If you are looking for a big old floppy NY style slice then you won't find it here. Marion's pizza is more akin to small square cut pizza truffles that are savory to the max with each bite. I placed an order over the phone because my family was all super hungry (long day of traveling all over). In fact, I'm 9 months pregnant & hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast. I started visiting when I was in high school, and the experience is a little different when you have classmates behind the counter. First of all this is not a pizza parlor. What they make here is a flat bread with your choice of toppings. Pizza is made with a sauce that combines tomatoes with herbs and spices. At Marion's they smear tomato puree out of a can on a thin crust and then sprinkle the cheese on it. It's that simple. And don't ask for bell peppers on your topping. We requested bell peppers and got banana peppers. When I asked the person behind the counter what happened, he said they don't have bell peppers. I then pointed to the green peppers on the menu. Turns out he had no idea that green peppers and bell peppers are the same thing. That said it tastes okay. You get your choice of toppings on a pie that is cut into squares that are conveniently bite sized. read more
