Have been coming here for almost a decade at this point. Their pizza never disappoints! It is a little thicker than your typical ny slice, but the flavor is good and the toppings are always quality! The people here are always nice! The location looks like old pizzeria with little booths. Highly recommend over the big chains! read more

It's pretty greasy if you like that kinda of thing. The taste is awesome though. Service is a bit slow but it probably is because they are busy. Better to order online or call it in. It's a carry out so there really isn't any type of ambiance. I'm giving 3 stars because I don't like how greasy it is and when you try to reheat the pizza flops and the ingredients drops off. read more

Decent experience! There's no pizza similar like this around here. The crust was thin and had a crispy bottom. I went for the lunch special, which is a good value and plenty of food. I tried the sausage/mushroom and the pepperoni/sausage since they didn't have 2 s/m ready. Both slices were good. I also got the garlic butter and it was one of the best I've had. I'd return here in a heartbeat! The staff is friendly. read more

We drive 4.5 hrs from Michigan just to get this pizza. It is awesome, great taste and good service

7-8x here overall good. Food/Drink: Pizza by the slice! Pretty good New York style pizza. Regular amount of options and combos. Pizza: Needed more crunch not too much, left me wanting more of a bite. Very flavorful, Sauce was good not too sweet could have used a little more garlic. Dinning Area: Pretty small, open, area. Benches, large counter. Plenty of seating! Prices: Relatively cheap. 2 slice and fountain special for $9.95! Parking: Plenty of space, shared strip mall lot. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean and regular size. Atmosphere: During the weekday dinner rush, It was empty. Staff/Attendants: Staff overall was young, and good people. Owner is from queens! Great experience... 8.5/10 read more

This has been a Dayton staple forever. Best thin crust pizza slices in the area by far. They also do a thicker crust if that's your preference...I can't vouch for that. read more

Absolutely disgusting pizza, if you could call it that. I was having a craving for pizza but I didn't want a whole pizza, so I went her to just get a slice. There was a long line just for people to pay for their order, it took like 5 minutes for each person JUST TO PAY for their order. The pizza was basically tasteless and the lame 4 slices of pepperoni were unlike any pepperoni that I ever tasted!!!! Stay away from this place, there are many better places to go!!! read more

Solid NY style pizza by the slice. The place counter service and mostly booth seating but it's quick easy and the pizza is good. I'll be back. read more

Being from Boston and regularly have Italian north end pizza available to me, finding an acceptable pizza in fairborne is a bit of a challenge. Flying Pizza is about as close to the pizza I like as one can find in the greater Dayton area. Traditional hand tossed crust is good but some vegetables are canned. Long term family ownership also is a pleasant surprise. read more

This is not NY style pizza. The cheese was low quality. The pepperoni was cheap and odd tasting. The dough was tough. Super floppy. It wasn't awful but slightly below average pizza. It was basically the same as a good gas station pizza. read more

it will do in a pinch or if you're drunk but it's really not that good pizza (i got the cheese)

Nice, family owned business, super friendly and quick service. They have a two slice lunch special for $9 and change, you can choose from four two topping combinations. Pizza crust was thin, crispy and piping hot. I ordered a single slice of pepperoni and it scratched my pizza itch. Plenty of seating and I overheard the owner say they've been in business 35 years, so can't go wrong with that! Next time I come I want to try the meatball sandwich which looked delish. read more

This place is right by my hotel so I figured I'd give 'em a shot. I ordered delivery to my hotel. The guy taking my order was friendly and helpful. I ordered a medium (they don't have a small) pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. The delivery went fine so the service here is 4 stars. Now, the pizza. It was mediocre. They are billed as "New York" style. I'm sorry but cutting the pizza into larger slicer doesn't make it "New York" style. It is way to thick to fold and eat. The sauce was ok but a little on the bland side. The toppings were plenty but, I didn't care for the mushrooms. They seemed very moist. A little too moist for my liking. Again, it wasn't bad. Don't get me wrong. I ate half of the thing. It just wasn't what I was I was expecting. I'll give 3 stars. read more

The Flying Pizza - Little thick for "New York" if you ask me! - Pizza Near Me - Fairborn, Ohio

Great Silician and regular NY slices! Staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. Will definitely be back

We stopped in here for the first time last Saturday for lunch before attending an event at the Nutter Center and was impressed. This is a typically New York style pizza place. When you walk in you walk up to a counter and order. They have whole pizza's, pizza by the slice, sandwiches, and salads as well as drinks. My husband and daughter went with a medium cheese pizza and I choose the pepperoni/sausage lunch combo (2 slices and a drink). We got our drinks, found a place to seat, and waited for our food. It took a little longer then I expected, but it was lunch time and they did make the food fresh so it wasn't terrible. Once we did get our food it came out hot and fresh! The slices were huge, which is typically of New York style pizza. My husband even made the comment that he should have just ordered by the slice because there was no way they were going to finish the medium pizza. My husband was impressed with the cheese pizza, sauce, and crust. He loves pizza and NY style is his favorite. I thought the sausage and pepperoni combo was really good. I would have loved bigger pieces of sausage, but it was still good. Overall really good pizza. I just find them to be a little expensive for pizza. For what we paid I would have rather went to Dewey's and spent a little more to get even better pizza. read more

First time stopping in and all things considered I am satisfied and will be back. Food: Ordered 2 slices (1 cheese & 1 pepperoni). Overall they were good slices. They had the perfect amount of crunch. The slices had just the right balance when it came to thickness (not too thick and not too thin). Service: Great service! Everyone was friendly and with this being my first time stopping in I appreciated the recommendation and the additional background on the location and other locations. Service was also quick which is always a plus. read more

Do the citizens of Dayton actually know what good pizza tastes like? The short answer is, NO. If they did, they would not rank The Flying Pizza as one of the top picks OR give it four stars. We chose this place because of its ranking and reviews. I read the few negative reviews that had claimed the pizza was tasteless or flavorless and thought that they must be a one off considering the majority of the reviews rated this place as excellent. Here is why I question whether or not Dayton's citizens have tastebuds... We ordered a medium, Neapolitan (so the crust wouldn't be too thick, as a few of the complaints described) pepperoni, sausage, mushroom and black olive pizza. It was the most bland, flavorless and unappealing pizza that we have ever eaten. Even the meat and vegetables were pale in color. I must say that even after having read the comments about the flavorless pizzas, we were shocked at how bad a pizza could actually be. We each ate only one piece and took the rest home to be doctored up and possibly, maybe, consumed later. (Hate to waste money) On the plus side and this is a big plus, the girls behind the counter could not have been more nice or friendly. We give it two stars instead of one because the customer service was outstanding. But we went for good pizza and not necessarily for good service. Do yourself a favor; save your money and go to the grocery store and buy a frozen pizza! It will be cheaper and it will most certainly TASTE BETTER! read more

Love these delicious giant slices! Support small local businesses and stop in for a slice or a whole pie. I have no frame of reference for "real deal NY" slices, so don't get bent out of shape if this doesn't taste like a Brooklyn pizzeria! Honestly-- good pizza, great people. read more

This place has good pizza and its like the only place in-town that sells Sicilian pizza. Good taste and good portion size.

Flying Pizza is one of my favorite pizza places in the Dayton area. It is the best New York Style pizza in the Dayton area. It's located in a semi-hidden shopping plaza across from The Nutter Center and Wright State, behind Bob Evans. You can grab pizza by the slice, or you can buy a whole pie. All of the pizza toppings are great. Personally, I just love getting cheese her. It is so amazing. You can go in and sit and eat, they have tables and booths. Plenty of space to sit. Or you can order carry out. The prices aren't bad for what you get. You have to remember that these slices are the size of your head. $14 for a 14" or a 16" for $18. Great quality pizza, and overly filling. read more

Let me start by saying that this pizza we had tonight was great. It was "just" pepperoni but sometimes the best way to judge a restaurant is by their more basic offerings that can't get shielded by fancy stuff. Now don't let the fact that we got the pizza at a really good price (because it was a mistake on someone else's order) effect your opinion of our judgment of this place. On top of that, and perhaps as important, the folks here were super nice and helpful. So we came all the way to Ohio to have NYC style pizza with Texas beer (we are visiting from Houston). Luckily, we had eaten our fill before the fire alarm went off in the hotel. Come check out this place (pizza, not hotel). You will be glad that you did. read more

What happened? This was one of the best pizza places in Dayton. Pizza was always great. Run by original owners from Italy. We began eating there in the late eighties. On 2/20/2021, I ordered takeout from the Fairborn location. A cheese pizza to go. The bad. 1. A duck could have gone swimming in this pizza pool. It was swimming in oil. My wife used many paper towels to get off as much oil as possible. 2. It was mediocre. The taste wasn't there. Did they switch to lesser quality ingredients? Cheese had no taste. Couldn't taste the tomato I sauce. The okay. 1. The girl made sure the pizza was cooked properly, checking it often. No doughy taste. It wasn't an issue of undercooked pizza. It was cooked fully. 2. There was a lot of cheese. It just wasn't a good tasting cheese., My wife ate one piece. I ate two. We threw the rest away. read more

First time there. The two girls working were extremely rude immediately. The pizza was okay but not the best. Probably won't be going back.

We are not from this town, we decided to give it a try because every restaurant was packed with a two hr wait we decided to try it. How can you go wrong with pizza? Well it is not a good pizza sorry, they need to change the cheese, the sauce all the ingredients, and the attitudes.they need renovate this place it looks like you enter 1970 pizza place. Completely empty. Red flag! What pizza place on a Saturday night is empty not one soul. This place has potential but I didn't feel the love and passion for food. Not good. read more

Super-close to 5 stars, but, it wasn't a perfect experience. Pizza was good, crust was super thick, & the sauce was flavorful as well. I did feel like the sauce gave me bad breath for about 3 days it was so garlicy...but it tasted good & wasn't overbearing when I was eating it. The lady who answered the phone for my carry-out order was very nice & informative & her communication was great. But, the guy who ran my card for payment wasn't as awesome. I tipped for a carry out order & he didn't say thank you & didn't even acknowledge it. He offered others to dress their pizza with hot pepper flakes & parmesan before leaving, but my box was tapped up & I just decided it wasn't worth it. I do recommend adding some cheese sauce to your order b/c the crust is so thick, you really need something to dip it in. Overall, I recommend & will be back. read more

The service here is great, but the pizza is subpar. K ha de slices, one cheese and one pepperoni/mushroom/sausage. The pizza was piping hot and cheesy, but it barely had any flavor. I could barely taste any sauce, and there were very few pieces of sausage in the pizza. It is nice that you can buy pizza by the slice here, but that is about it. The restaurant was practically empty when I 2as there, just 1 other couple was ordering. I would only recommend this place if you eere starving and need Ed single slices of pizza quickly. read more

I've visited The Flying Pizza MANY times, and can attest to the fact that they do it right. If you know what to order, you'll have a great dining experience and a full stomach. Stick with the pizza "by the slice", and the calzones. They are delicious! I'd not recommend getting toppings on your slices, though. The slices are baked as plain cheese slices, and quickly re-heated as needed. That's not a problem with plain cheese slices, and in fact, works quite well. But if you order toppings, they are added to these 'already baked" slices before re-heating. That does not work very well. And I agree with the previous comment about the drinks. I'm rather surprised that they charge for refills, given that I can't remember any other place that still does that. Fountain soda pop is so cheap these days. I doubt they get too many customers wanting to pay for a refill. But definitely get your drink with no ice, or little ice. Otherwise, you won't have enough. UPDATE: 10/15/2015 I recently visited this restaurant again, and they now offer free refills. read more

This place is just flat out good. I always have the pepperoni pizza, and it's excellent. It's made right in front of you, you even get to watch the guy flip the dough. Now that's entertaining. It's made pretty fast too, I think I waited 5 minutes tops. They have a good lunch special as well, I think 2 slices of pizza and a drink for around $6. You can get a full pizza, or pizza by the slice. It's a pretty plain establishment, no frills here. But why would you need it? It's the food that matters, they aren't big on ambiance. The only thing lacking is friendly service, I don't think the guy that helped me smiled once. read more

Have heard good things about this place for a while. Finally went and tried it out. Great New York style pizza. Hot and delicious. Highly recommend this place if your looking for something different in way of pizza. They have different styles also. Not just New York style. They have a hand tossed and a deep dish square pizza. All the ingredients taste fresh. We did half pepperoni and sausage and other half just cheese. Very yummy. Pepperoni taste fresher than your typical pizza place. Reasonably priced. Great staff. Very friendly. Also they have beer! read more
