I've been to other TJ Chumps but this was my first time at the location. I ate here last week on the last warm day to be able to eat outside. Like other TJ's the restaurant/bar has a nice sports bar feel with lots of tv's and the overall feel is fun, but also warm and inviting. The outdoor patio space is great! It's really a nice space to have a dinner and/or beer with friends and the service was fantastic. I had the riblets and substituted onion rings for the fries. The rings tasted great and the server was more than happy to bring extra dipping sauce. The riblets were ok. In the future I'll probably just order normal full ribs or stick with a burger but overall they were pretty good. TJ Chumps is a nice local chain and always a good bet for a good experience. read more

Well... it's been a while since coming here but my wife was craving to come here after the Sweet Corn Festival. Was seated quickly and drinks out in a timely manner. 1pm... place wasn't busy at all. We got seated farthest away outside from anyone, no big deal, but after drinks was forgotten about until about 17 min later... yes I set a timer. Someone came and asked if we had ordered yet and I said no. She took our order but was less than pleasant, seemed like she didn't want to be there. Food was ok, never was offered a refill for water, and wasn't checked on like a restaurant should. Needless to say, I won't be back anytime soon and I hope the manager staff teaches these waiters and waitresses how to care and show customer service. read more

Great place! Well lit, plenty of space, and good food! Food/Drink: Really well cooked, decent variety on the menu. Typical sandwich, burger, flatbreads, and salads you would expect. Salmon was cooked very well. The chili lime sauce was a little weird and kind of thrown on top. Appetizers: I was going back-and-forth, but ended up not getting any. I did however, try the hot sauce it's got a little kick, but nothing crazy. Bar: alcoholic drinks were well mixed and not overpowering. Bar was clean, and well lit. Dinning Area: large size, open concept. Limited seating! Prices: Relatively cheap. Fish, cup of tomato, bisque, and a unsweetened tea brand me about the $27. Parking: Small, private lot, wrap around just off the main road. A little hard to get back out...have to back onto the main road. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean and small in size. Atmosphere: During the Saturday night off season, pretty steady, but not unmanageable. Staff/Attendants: Waitress was Great and highly motivated, very nice, and relatively attentive. The food was horrible. My daughter ordered a half order of fish and chips and she's basically been in the bathroom since.with intestinal horrors. I ordered pretzels and cheese and a caesar salad with chicken. The chicken was overcooked and tasted of too much smoke flavoring; almost artificial. The dressing tasted way too salty and too much anchovie flavor. I complained and was brought back a plate of croutons and tough romaine lettuce with a container of the offensive dressing on the side. I asked for ranch, which was somewhat more palatable. The pretzels were fine. The service was fine. The restaurant seems in need of a deep cleaning and a new chef. read more

Service is excellent. I've gone twice in the last 2 weeks. I had a great burger the 1st time. The second time I had to send it back as it was undercooked. They remade the burger and it was just fine. We had the brussel sprouts - my husband I would not recommend them. We ordered the garlic cheese bite appetizers and they were delicious. My husband had the bourbon chicken and really enjoyed it. I think I've been here before but don't really recall when. The food is okay but not impressive. The sports playing on multiple TVs I guess is about like any sports bar/restaurant, loud and meant for that, more than talking to people. My review is just going to be on what I ordered. The chump boy burger. Hamburger patty on a dry bun that was twice the size of the burger. I ended up just eating the patty without the bun after a few bites of all the bread. That's when I realized the burger was really dry! It is something I'd never order again. Just from this one example I wouldn't write them off completely but pretty unimpressed with it. Onion rings were really good and I would order those again. I guess it's personal preference. Staff were almost overly helpful. We laughed about that because 3 different staff each checked in on us a couple times each or more. They were definitely friendly and pleasant and I know it's not an easy job to do. I'd try it again but there's so many other places we never make it to that I'm. It sure when that'll happen! read more

Start with service..... it was excellent. The waitresses where attentive and fast with good spirits and attitude. The food... I ordered a burger (bacon cheese burger with pretzel bun and the beef medium and fries. The bacon was crispy on one half and soft and what seemed like it didnt taste the grill. The burger itself was burnt on the outside and rare in the middle. Fries where ok little wider then shoe string fries but no seasoning. The place did look like it needed a spring cleaning to get rid of the slight dingey feel. It also needs updated tables for large groups as we had to put tables together and not one matched the next on height. Summary, if the asthetics and food matched the service this place would be 5 stars easy. read more

We ate here and when we got our bill we were surprised to discover we got changed .89 for an extra chicken finger sauce. .89 for salsa for our nachos. And the waitress told us we could exchange a side for another side, so I got a side salad and was charged $3.99 extra for a small side salad!! The waitress never mentioned any of these upcharges to us!! I feel that is being dishonest with the bill! The waitress should tell people up front the extra charges that will occur!! read more

TJC deserves 5 stars for friendly staff! They really were nice! Also 5 stars for a "family sports bar" that offers several wine selections! I realize a sports bar is a sports bar. It's not supposed to offer the healthiest dining options. I try to sub and tweak a dish to make it as healthy as I can. I went with the fish and chips with sauce on the side and substituted broccoli for the french fries. They serve almost an entire head of broccoli. It had shaved parmesan on it and was hot and really good! Normally when I do this, I can peel away the breading and flavor the cod with lemon squeezes and call it a day. This cod, sadly, was not hand breaded. I could not remove the breading from it to save my soul. It was reminiscent of Gorton's fish fillets. As sweet as the staff are, I hated that I left hungry. The hubs had the salmon which the staff say is "sushi quality" (the menu says so, too.) He didn't complain. I was able to steal a few of his french fries and the company we are with are dear, sweet friends. read more

Service was good, we came in just after the lunch rush on our way through town. Food was what was expected. We got the buffalo chicken dip to start, then a burger and a club as our mains. App and mains came out very close together, which I understand for lunchtime, but we were in no rush so I wish she would have asked so we could relax and enjoy our app before our main meals. I have come here already twice, they have private parking that makes my life so much easier and they also have a smokers friendly outdoor sitting area with a outdoor bar and everything. they also offer military discounts! the staff as you walk in the for is super friendly and helpful. the first time I came here the wait staff was on point, not so much on the second time though, seemed like they were understaffed and service took a very long time specially towards desert times. every time I came here I sat outside and the sitting is very comfortable and laid back. they have $2 margaritas and long islands on Tuesdays and that is very worth to come and take advantage of now here is the food I had the chance to try. - PRETZELS (cheddar cheese and beer cheese dip) - this is the reason I have come here more than once, this is hands down the best pretzels I have EVER had! the trip here is worth it just for this appetizer. - PULLED SIRLOIN AND CHEESE SANDWICH- I changed the side to broccoli and by I was glad I did, the regular side is just potatoes chips which in my opinion is super lame but the broccoli was on point and super tasty. the sandwich was amazing and so far my favorite meal here. - CHICKEN SALAD SANDWICH - the second time I came here I had this sandwich as my main curse and I regretted it right away. the sandwich was pretty blend and hard to eat, it was a mess chicken salad falling everywhere. - SUGAR SNOW PEA- I had this as a side for the chicken salad sandwich and t was another huge regret , the peas were overcooked and the texture said it all. avoid this side. - CHEESECAKE ROLLS - I am not sure f that is the correct name of this desert, it is a spring roll looking desert filled with cheesecake, but it was petty good. fried anything is just amazing to have at any time. just keep in mind that this desert is pretty big and it is easy to share it. this place overall besides the delay in the service towards the end on my second visit could be easily my regular spot for happy hour and fun. go check ti out. read more

The Fairborn TJ Chumps hosted a retirement ceremony for one of my coworkers recently. Amber in catering was extremely helpful from making the initial reservation to answering the many questions I had for her. The party room was the perfect size for the 70 people in attendance and the whole staff was SO accommodating! (I'm so sorry I don't remember their names!) Plus, there was plenty of food choices for everybody, it was delivered quickly and everything tasted delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better experience when planning such a huge event and will definitely remember this for any future events I'm involved with. Came here with a big group but I wish we would have gone somewhere else! The service was lacking with simple things like refilling water. I got the wings which were very dry and not tasty (I didn't even finish them). My fries were so-so and my celery was a little brown on the ends. I did taste the broccoli from my friends dish which was really good and looked very fresh. I had a tall margarita which tasted like it was pre-made from a mix. I think a lot of people from my class agreed that the food wasn't the best. I'm sure I won't be back if I'm ever in the area again. read more

This is a nice bar and grill that is perfect for parties, sporting events and just hanging out and watching a game after work. If you are looking for a nice, quiet evening with a loved one, this might not be your best option. The food here is American fare which is burgers, chicken strips, tacos, ribs, steaks and that type of fare. They have a nice selection of appetizers and main courses but if you are looking for sushi or Italian, this isn't it. The service here was really friendly and even though we had a part of over 40 people, the food came out quickly, accurately and hot. Everyone was pleased and the drinks were kept full including alcoholic drinks which were also served promptly. I'd definitely come back and give it my recommendation of 4 stars. Enjoy! read more

This is one of our "preferred" chains, really not all that bad a choice if you're in the area, and I'd usually give them higher marks, but there were just a few things that didn't quite "click" as well as they have in the past/at different locations... We were lucky to find a good parking spot and got seated pretty quickly on a busy Friday night. I have absolutely nothing to say against the décor; it's big (great for groups, we saw quite a few while we were there) but still feels comfortable. There's always a possibility that a table with just two people will be sort of ignored/overlooked when seated next to a group of 12-15, but we didn't get that feeling, until the end of our meal... Our drink, app., and dinner orders were taken pretty quickly, and we received them in a reasonable time frame too. For what it's worth, I don't think the pretzel bites with cheese dip were worth $6.99, nor was my (probably) canned salmon (!!!) taco entrée the best choice I could have made. Bob was a bit happier with his steak sandwich and fries special, but our issue was not the food (average chain choices, NBD) but with the end of the meal RUSH to get us out of there. Can I tell you how much I HATE HATE HATE to feel rushed to pay and go the second I pause and appear to be (or not to be) done with my meal?? It was still early, the HUGE party that was there before we arrived was barely getting started, we were NOT close to finished with our drinks or meals, and the waitress brought our check over, letting us know that it was "no rush," and we could take "as much time" as we "needed" to finish up. She then circled back two or three more time, until I finally gave her my rarely used, who knows how effective, (but ohhhhhhhh so satisfying) "don't worry, we'll be finished SOON and OUT OF YOUR WAY!!" Now, I understand (as much as I can...) the "joys" of working in the service industry, and I know these mighty chains are no picnic, especially on a busy Friday or Saturday night with lots of big groups, but PLEASE... It wasn't the very end of the night, and I don't think we were even there a full hour, so there was truly no need to rush us out the door as fast as we felt rushed. Another hit or miss restaurant experience. I usually get the angus burgers, and never had any issues with my meal. Anytime I've picked someone else from the menu the experience hasn't been so good. The 7oz choice sirloin steak needed to come with a mini chainsaw, because it was tough as bark. Loaded smashed potatoes warm as a summer puddle. Kids ribs ok, but fries a little soggy. We are a family of 5 with 3 children. between ages 12 and 6. Visited for the first time yesterday as an out of towner between soccer games. With the Haunted Classic going on and the OSU vs Penn State game on the place was packed with several LARGE groups. Despite this, the service was EXCELLENT! Menu was impressive with many delicious sounding options, drinks were never empty, plates were cleared quickly, frequent check ins to make sure we had everything we needed, food was delicious, cash out was prompt! It was, without question, one of the best dining experiences we have had. Not one to generally one to leave reviews but this remarkable experience warranted recognition! Well done! We will be back next time we're in the Dayton area! read more
