Talk about terrible service. We came in with 11 people, and wanted to sit in a certain section because of the high definition TVS for the uafa championship. We had enough people to fill all 4 tables in this section...When we asked to push them together, the waitress told us no, the section gets busy later. Well what does it matter if we have enough people right now to take up all the tables ? Why can we not sit how we want because of people later? Is it so hard to move the tables back? TJ Chumps can be really hit-or-miss. The service has been consistently pretty good. Nothing outstanding, but all the waiters and waitresses have always been attentive and helpful. Some food is really good - some food is really bad. I usually get the grilled pork chops with a caesar salad and broccoli, which is really good. The pork chops have never been overcooked, the salad has a really good dressing and the broccoli was fresh. On the other hand, the pizza and many appetizers are not good. I've tried the cheese fries and nachos, both of which were unappetizing and cold when they came out to the table. I've never been here late at night, but I can imagine it would be a great place to grab drinks and a late night bite. They have TONS of televisions, so it truly has the sports bar feel. Fantastic service and attention to customers (and not just us)! Food was pretty good, too. I don't like to hand out 5 stars lightly, but I will for great service or great food and very good service. From the hostess to our server/bartender (sat at the rail), and a couple other servers with whom we interacted, they deserve the 5. Superb! Stephanie at the bar is aces in my book! Kids gobbled down their mac & cheese - huge portion for a kids meal, and I sampled. Pretty good. I had grilled chicken & portobello spinach salad, also quite big and pretty darn good. I'll likely be back when I'm the area to try some other stuff. My gut tells me that their food is well done but fairly pedestrian, but that's the deal. I prefer that with this type of excellent attention to service; no need to get too far out over your front tire. I should mention that we're in the area for a youth soccer tournament, and as we pulled in they were getting bum rushed by the clown car, so maintaining even passable service would have been impressive. We visit Chumps pretty regularly as it's close to our house! The service here is always fantastic, at any given meal we will have three to four people checking on us. Food is sports bar fare but better quality. They always have seasonal specials which you can't go wrong with. We also really like the buffalo chicken pizza and their chili. First time trying this place and wont be going back. Service was 15% tip worthy but no more. And the food was not good at all. Wings were freezer burned but the sauce wasn't bad in flavor. Burgers are clearly premade and frozen. Fries had potential but were under cooked and I ordered mine with chili and cheese and that was a clear mistake with undercooked fries. I'd stay away from the chili based on flavor alone. Tastes like the cheap crap you'd buy at a convenient store. They also only have 1 overpriced steak on the menu. So sad to see. Gone way downhill! Used to love the patio, but this time was a trainwreck. First, tried to seat us out front(aweful), then a bad high table in back, with other great seats open, but tired of the fight that at this point. Next the food, out of wings, so tried a sirloin sandwich- big mistake...super dry and bread was like styrofoam. Ordered a side of aujois, which was pure vinegar...awful. But worked nicely to wreck a new pair of shorts when the server spilled it all over me while clearing the table. Understand accidents, but why was she not trained to move food off the table, without taking it over the patrons - huge table, plenty of room, so management should be ashamed for not training her properly! Lastly was the smoked salmon bruschetta, which we have had several times in the past and loved it...not this time; tasted "fishery" and they forgot the balsamic glaze; but good news is that I did not wear any of that home. Hopefully they can fix their management issues and get this place straightened out; used to be a fun place with good food and great service. Much like something you would get at Buffalo Wild Wings or Frickers, but still just not as good.. This restaurant is in a building that was originally built to be a 'high end Italian restaurant'. So the ambiance is just..off. It's supposed to be a sports bar but it doesn't feel or look like one. Be prepared to have 3 or 4 different servers. We had a different server take our drink orders, a different one brought us our drinks, someone else took our food orders, another person brought our food, etch. It was craziness. So I've been here a few times and its typically a hit or miss. I've had spotty service and a mediocre bloody mary here before. However, the other night my buddy had a bday party here and we had excellent service for a huge party. All of our checks were correct and the servers assigned to our party were attentive and prompt. Literally, 15 of us and there was not one mistake with checks or orders. They were friendly and really fast with our drink orders. This was a Friday night on a holiday weekend too. The food is pretty good as well. The chipotle garlic sauce for the wings is delicious but my favorite item was the soft pretzels. They almost tasted like donuts but savory instead of sweet. Food Quality: 5/5 On order tonight we had the pretzel stick appetiser w/ beer cheese (5/5), Asian Salmon (5/5), 7 oz Sirloin (5/5), and Asian Ginger Boneless Wings (5/5). We had broccoli, macaroni & cheese, and mashed potatoes for sides (all 5/5). The cook on both the salmon (medium) and the sirloin (medium rare) was perfect which genuinely surprised us since most places around here (even Texas Roadhouse) tend to overcook a steak the first time. Both the salmon and the sirloin were very fresh in taste, had great flavour, and the steak was amazingly juicy. Absolute perfection! Pricing: 5/5 I said before that if everything had been great then it'd be worth the prices. Tonight proves that true. Pretty great food for the price. Customer Service: 5/5 After the last review we were contacted by a regional manager who was very kind and apologetic about the delivery service. He offered us a gift card to use for a future order and really did his best to convince us to come back. This is my work's go-to hang out spot for drinks, mainly because their drinks are so good. They are usually made right, always heavy on booze, and pretty cheap. Can't beat that! Definitely 5 stars for their bar! The food isn't so great- in fact, it's absolutely terrible! Thus far, I haven't found anything I like. The hot wings I got were disgusting. Their hot buffalo sauce is some of the worst I have had. Their chicken strips weren't much better. The breading wasn't good and the strips were way overcooked. Seriously, how do you manage to ruin chicken strips? It's a staple for these type of establishments! At least the waiters and waitresses are fantastic- I almost always get great service here. I would 100% recommend this place for getting drinks and for the great service- but you should consider eating elsewhere. read more

I love wings and have been wanting to try Chumps for quite a while now, some of my friends say they have the best wings around despite the mixed Yelp reviews. Apparently this location used to be the site of a now defunct Italian restaurant, pretty obvious by the walls, fireplace, etc and very open seating area, overall the interior was fine, the booths were huge! MY wife and I were seated in a booth which could have probably seated 8 people comfortably, plenty of room to stretch out! The only think I didn't like about Chumps was the the draft beer selection, in my opinion it is seriously lacking! I guess for a sports oriented bar what they have might be ok for most people but anything outside your normal domestic brands and you're out of luck, they didn't even have Blue Moon which is a pretty common domestic these days and would usually be my go to beer when the selection is lacking, diet coke for me on this trip! What I did like about Chumps was the food and service! We were helped by a few of the wait staff and they were all fantastic, very prompt and friendly, always on the spot with bringing out what we needed, the only thing I thought was odd was they had waffle fries and no malt vinegar, what the heck? No biggie though. Seriously though, the service here was above and beyond anything else at other local sports bars (wing and beer places). As far as the food, the menu selection is fantastic, something for everyone and lot's of things on it sound good! My wife ordered the loaded smashed potato pizza, I had never heard of it before but it was great! I ordered the wings with hot sauce and they were pretty awesome. I did find that the hot sauce wasn't quite hot enough for my tastes so I asked the waitress to bring out a cup of the wicked sauce, much better! Finally found time to give TJ Chumps a try today for lunch with some friends! Overall impressions were good for first visit for what I would expect from a sports bar&grill. A little noisy, lots of TVs, big booths to accommodate lots of friends, and so far good food. So lets start with our wait staff. They seemed busy at lunch, but not slammed. The hostess seated us right away and we were greeted shortly after by a friendly waitress. She was on top of things the entire meal. I don't remember asking for a refill on my soda once, and I can drink a LOT of soda in a meal. The only downside is my friend's fish sandwich was supposed to have the tartar sauce on the side, which she offered to correct right away and apologized. The food was pretty good. I think the measure of a sports grill comes from their burgers and their wings, so I tried the burger for my first visit. It was properly cooked, juicy, and the bun was soft and there were plenty of toppings. My wife had one of the wraps, which she said was ok, but she enjoyed the cheese fries and said we'll be coming back to try some of the other items. One small additional knock against them for me was the size of the menu. While it was not ridiculously large like Cheesecake Factory, for a first-timer it was a LOT to take I'm. I had a small pizza and the wife had a Reuben Sandwich with potato chips. The pizza was obviously a low quality frozen pizza. Not impressed! Wife's Reuben was a typical sandwich but she said the sauerkraut didn't taste "fresh"? Ok, not bad, but typical. Chips were straight out of a bag, or tasted that way. She also had a Tortilla Soup. It was ok, but nothing that stood out as "the best" in any way. Atmosphere is great with many TVs to watch, it is indeed a great place, atmosphere-wise, to meet people. I just hope they have better food on the menu than what we had. Good choice of beer on tap, fairly cold, but not the coldest, but the price was right. Wife had ice tea was good and even got one to go. Service was fantastic! Two different people coming to the table to make sure we were ok several times. Not sure if one was a manager or what? I am not sure I believe in too many choices as it's always nice to find something you are in the mood for, and that should fill most people's common desires for American Bar type food. I was excited to see this restaurant come to Faiborn. I was disappointed when I dined there. It's just your standard sports bar. It's loud, and with tv's all over the place, a good conversation isn't easy. On a plus side, the wait staff was very good.. very helpful and accommodating. We were never without a full glass of water or soda. The food was "ok". I ordered a smothered burger. It was overdone, and the ingredients kept sliding off, so it was messy and not easy to eat. My husband ordered a salmon dish, and the salmon was slightly over-cooked, but he said it wasn't too bad. His sides were broccoli and snow peas. I think that he got an entire head of broccoli.. it was a bit too much. My Mother in-law ordered a Reuben and she seemed to enjoy it, but she said they skimped on the sauerkraut. read more

The smoked salmon came out as a scoop of spread on top of an open faced sandwich with tomato, lettuce, and pickles. The soup was pretty hearty and came with crushed crackers on top. Meh, I got the Reuben which at any other restaurant is a hot, grilled sandwich but not here. My bread was cold and the little bit of measly corned beef on it was lukewarm. When the server came by to check on us I asked if this should be a grilled sandwich and she said it was. She then asked if it wasn't and I told her no. You delivered it to me so maybe expedite the food before you deliver it? She then came back and said the bread is only supposed to be lightly toasted. What? Well this bread was not lightly toasted because it was NO toasted. The place was really busy so she went on. I shoved most of the stale, cold bread to the side and ate the insides. It was so cold the Swiss didn't melt so that's their Reuben sandwich at TJ Chumps. I can stay in Springfield and eat at my own crappy restaurants and not have to leave town for this one. read more

I really like the Chump wait style. Whomever walks by checks on you and keeps you drinks filled. The only way you could get bad service in this place is if they mess up your order. They have these new jalapeño popper egg rolls that are killer. The egg roll has the cheese and cream cheese in it and the berry sauce has the jalapeño kick in it. They are GREAT! Try the buffalo dip also. We had 2 on our last visit. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Plenty of seating in booths, tables, high tops and bar. read more
