The best pizza everrrrrr
Kelly H.

From the moment you walk in until you finish your last slice, you're transported to a pizza joint in Italy. You are immediately greeted with a smile from the staff ready to serve you up your favorite slice. Any kind of slice you want they'll happily make for you. Try the Grandma's pizza for a real unique treat! The restaurant is clean and full of happy customers! If you don't know what to get, ask for David!

Cheese Pizza Slice

Walking into this pizza place, I was hit with a wave of nostalgia (even though I've never been to this place before). It had a classic pizza parlor feel and I loved it! One of the staff behind the counter saw me looking at the array of pizza slices and immediately started to describe each choice - which I so appreciated! I ended up going with a classic cheese slice ($3), and they warmed it up for me. While the sauce was a bit on the saltier side (for my taste), the dough was crispy on the bottom and the crust was soft with a great chew!

Medium wings, large cheese pizza, and our 2 waters

Rounded out Father's Day at Mario & Salvo's. It was quiet when we first got there and ordered, but definitely picked up as we waited for our food. We chose to stay in and eat there and the food didn't take long at all to be done. We ordered a large cheese pizza and 12 medium wings. Pizza came out hot and perfect, we all loved it. The wings weren't bad either but weren't our favorite (we like our wings saucy). I don't know what everyone else thinks but pizza and wings is not the cheap dinner you expect it to be anymore. Large cheese, 12 wings, and one large soda came out to be roughly $40. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and we're able to relax there and enjoy the meal. There's a small area with enough seating for a few families to eat. The employees are very nice and very hardworking.

So far this is the most authentic NYC style pizza I've found in CNY. The pizza is thin, crispy, and light. The sauce is seasoned and the oregano is prominent, so if that's not your thing you may not like it. Personally, it's not a preference, but I did not mind it. What's not pictured is the Sicilian slice and buffalo chicken slice that I had. The Sicilian, despite looking dense was far from. It was very light. Shockingly light. It was crispy yet the dough was soft (not undercooked soft). I really enjoyed it. The buffalo chicken slice, while also thing and light did not do it for me. The chicken was on the drier side and lacked a strong buffalo flavor. I'll pass on this the next time. I loved the interior. The sign/menu on the inside was very nostalgic looking. Think old school NYC pizzeria. Loved it. Service was good, the owner checked up on everyone who was eating and asked how the quality of food was. I liked that he cared about it. So far, this is the best pizza I've found in CNY and I absolutely will be back.

Grandma Pizza

Since moving up to 'Cuse from Long Island, the one food I'd say I've craved the most is a traditional grandma slice of pizza. Different from the thicker and fluffier Sicilian style square slice, a grandma slice is a thinner, crispier style pizza that is layered with cheese and followed by dollops or drizzles of hearty, garlicky tomato sauce. Mario and Salvos has truly mastered a wonderful grandma style pizza- so much so, they were even named the best pizza in Syracuse and we'd have to agree. This was truly a phenomenal pie, and the wings were also crispy and delicious. We will certainly be back for more!

Visiting my husband's hometown of Syracuse, he said this is a must-try. Love the vibe, small, cozy location, and authenticity. Pizza was good, but inside seating was only available. Was there on a Sunday morning so it was not rush hour yet, would certainly like to try the meatball, other yelpers commented. Parking could be frustrating but we parked at the Tops across the street.

Love my Mario's but quality taking a hit with high school kids prepping certain things too quickly and orders getting mixed up.

Can someone explain the "support local fee" added to orders, and the percentage amount percentage for using a credit card? Just a sneaky way to boost profits from where I'm…

The "support local fee" is not a surge charge from the credit card company and is not a charge by the local business.…

They have a rotating menu that they list on their website (www.saltcitybread.com). By the time I got there mid-afternoon, they were sold out of their seeded (sesame, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds) sourdough. Plain sourdough loaves are $10 and the sourdough with inclusions are market price and range from $12-14 it seems. I got their chocolate chip cookie (with flaky salt from Syracuse Salt company) for $3.25, and it was delicious!! Thick cookie with crisp edges and a soft, fluffy center. Huge chocolate chips too! The flaky salt brings a nice balance as well. Will definitely be back!

This little bakery is very cute and offers a selection of different breads as well as sweets. The service is excellent and welcoming. These people know how to do bread WELL. I have tried their italian bread, focaccia, and their braided sesame bread-- which are all phenomenal! They have some sandwiches on their menu as well as some coffee available. On this occasion we ordered: - Braided sesame bread: this is my absolute favorite bread here. The presentation is beautiful, and the bread reminds me of a more savory challah with some salted olive oil hints that remind me of focaccia. The softness of the bread and the density make it so satisfying. It is perfect with both sweet and savory pairings. Super addictive--a loaf usually does not last longer than a day in our household. - Turkey sandwiches: we got a whole sandwich split into two halves. Size is pretty generous and one half is definitely enough for one person. This sandwich, although simple, stands out for its high quality ingredients. It came with generous sliced turkey that was not too salty, delicious gouda cheese, high quality mayo, fresh tomatoes and lettuce. The white bread is made in-house and feels super fresh and fluffy. They were super nice and gave us two bags of chips to compliment our dinner even though we technically ordered only one sandwich. We got it split into two separate containers and my fiancé and I each got our own pickle! Perfect option to get to-go. - Peanut butter cookie: I initially wanted to try the chocolate chip but they sadly ran out. However this was actually an amazing cookie. The thickness was perfect, not too thick and not too thin. It had nice bits of peanut butter and the cookie itself was super buttery, soft but with a nice caramelized crust, and not too sweet. There was a surprise Reeses PB cup in there which was very pleasant. Very good cookie! Cannot wait to come back and try their chocolate chip one. Overall, this bakery is a 10/10 and a very great asset to the area. Even though their selection is limited, I think they really focus on doing the few things they do VERY well. I love how local and homey this business feels. Their baked goods are all amazing and I will continue supporting them whenever I am in Manlius. Highly recommend Salt City Bread! You will not regret it.

The exterior and interior were both very beautiful and remind me shops that I've visited while in NYC. I ordered the #18 which was smoked turkey, cheddar, spinach, pears and garlic mayo. WOW! That's the first word that came to kind after my first bite. This was easily one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life!!! Everything was perfect right down to the freshly baked French bread, delicious! The staff were all so kind. It seems like they mostly do take out but they have a handful of tables in and outside. They have an everyday menu behind the register and a specials menu on a chalk board when you walk in. There are classic deli sandwiches and wraps with some more unique items as well. Very casual, good for a quick lunch. Couldn't resists the Boulangerie Raspereno, a great mix of sweet, salty, and just a little spice. I thought it was a well portioned sandwich, with chips I could eat half and save half but would happily eat the whole thing too. The french bread tasted super fresh,a nice light crust with a softer interior. Grabbed a raspberry shortbread cookie that was a touch over baked but nonetheless yummy.
