    Pastrami on Rye

Both times I went there was a line but it moves fairly quickly. And a line is usually a good sign, is it not? Very friendly staff. Got the sourdough with cheddar and jalapeno which was delicious. The cheddar and jalapeno were subtle and not overpowering. They make sandwiches as well although there is no sandwich menu on their website. I forgot to take a picture of their menu which is posted on their wall. Got the pastrami on rye which was quite good. It seemed pricey at $16 so I almost didn't order it but it's the size of 2 normal sandwiches.

Salt City Bread founder Greg Reynolds had a background in culinary arts, which deeply influenced his approach to baking. His passion for bread making led him to start experimenting with recipes and techniques. Initially, the bakery operated with a focus on crafting high-quality, artisanal bread using traditional methods. Wife and I are very rarely in the Manlius area, but we were recently and thought we'd stop for a lunch and some breads. My wife was really looking forward to getting a muffaletta, but that was unavailable due to the recent listeria outbreak, so she ordered the turkey sandwich while I went with pastrami. We also ordered a rosemary focaccia and 2 butter rolls to take home. Our sandwiches were made quickly, and they were fine. There was nothing wrong with them, but they also didn't blow us away either. Very simple sandwiches, didn't have a ton of toppings on them, and honestly, with the amount of grocery stores/delis in the area that now carry Boar's Head, that's simply not a selling point for us anymore. We felt they were pretty expensive, but at the same time, they were piled high with meat and did feed us for 2 meals. We had the rosemary focaccia with some spaghetti and meatballs the next day and used the butter rolls for some chicken sandwiches the day after and we enjoyed both. Overall, the offerings we had were fine, but we didn't feel anything was good enough to need to return. Perhaps if we lived closer where there weren't as many bakeries, but there are many other options in the CNY area.
