We happened to stumble upon Nick's Tomato Pie after visiting the MOST to check out the new Nature Photography exhibit and what a fantastic surprise it turned out to be! We came by on a Thursday around 5 PM and had the place nearly to ourselves. Michael and David were absolutely terrific & incredibly welcoming and kind. They even had a few jokes for our kids, which made the whole experience feel personal and warm. Honestly, it felt like we were visiting family. There's a lot more seating than you'd expect & especially in the attached room (former bowling alley) Plenty of space to relax and enjoy your food. Now, the pizza: perfectly crunchy slices that hit the spot. One of our kids even declared it "the best pizza they ever had!" And all the kids loved it, which is saying something! We'll absolutely be back. Highly recommend stopping in, especially if you're in the area visiting the museum. Bonus for college kids- They stay open until the line ends on the weekends (2-3am) read more

Amazing pizza & great service with a smile!! Placed an order online thru their website & ordered for pickup. This place speaks pizza vibes! I ordered a large cheese & pep pizza, medium wings extra crispy, and mozzarella sticks and let me tell you this is real Authentic Italian pizza with huge slices of cheesy goodness. The wings were crispy and held great flavor with the right amount of sauce i asked for extra crispy and they honored my request. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown, this pizza place is only populated after 10pm and for good reason: the pizza is mediocre and staff bullies guests. Probably will not be coming back as I witnessed one of the staff members slap a slice of pizza out of a guest's hands and the security guard berate and throw out a separate group of non-disruptive customers. An eventful night, but it seems that this is a regular occurrence for this business. read more

It's a slice shop where you can get a pie and it's open late. Usually for places open late the quality isn't that great, especially when surrounded by bars, but with that all in mind, I don't think it was bad. The dough was a little one dimensional, reminding me of bread, but It's worth stopping by for a slice. Far from the best in Syracuse, but it'll get the job done. Better staff!! I'm a recent widow that was taking to a customer when I witnessed the staff became upset and picked a customer up by him neck as through him out of the store. Stopped in twice during a recent visit to Syracuse. This place is open at all hours and seems to do a good business during all meal times. They have a wide variety of slices that are priced just right. My only complaint - the warmups in the oven could be a little longer. The staff is very friendly. Who I presumed to be the owner was running the register both times and was very personable -- even to the too drunk frat boy ahead of me in line. Kudos! read more

I came to this place after a volleyball tournament and the guy serving me was so friendly and very sweet, im not from Syracuse and generally didn't have a lot of generic fast food chains close by and this place was closest to my hotel, I honestly was having a bad day and the guy struck and held conversation with me and also gave me extra food, 1000000/10 read more

I came here the other night as it's right downtown and open later. Got a slice of pepperoni. First of all $3.75 for a slice of pizza is high way robbery. Secondly, the pizza was terrible. He threw it in the oven for me but it was barely lukewarm. I didn't notice until I got to my next destination (5 min away) because they had boxed it up. Service was great, the restaurant itself is small, There's an area in the back if you wanna sit down and have a meal instead of being in with everybody coming in for slices. It can get packed. If you hate this pizza, then you'll want to Nix Nick's. Luckily, you probably won't, because it's actually really good. Now bear in mind that I give a 5 star to anything that really does it for me. A 4 star is more "average" because I don't rate family businesses less than 3. So a 3-star family business is more like a "1 star" to you. And my 4 is more like your 3, maybe. With that in mind, the 4 star here means that Nick's is not my favourite. If you want to eat this pizza like an animal, and feel it from the inside, and if it gets you closer to god, then it's NIN's Tomato Pie. However it's not bad, and I definitely don't want to Nix Nick's. It's a little like Pavone's Pizza nearby. Rochester and Buffalo have so many great pizza places (and don't get me started on NYC) that it's hard for me to really get into Syracuse Pizza. The only 5-star one I've had in town so far is the unfortunately-named Paladino's (because Carl Paladino sucks). If you bring your dog here, and he or she keeps biting you while you eat, then it's Nip's Tomato Pie. The server was kind of iffy about recommending something to me, but he did so based on how fresh the pie was, and so pointed me to the cheese & pep. It was nice. It cost only 2.75 and was really big, and I appreciated that part of it a lot. And plus this place is open til 3am for when the clubs let out, so it's a great asset for Syracuse to have. "Nice" is about right for this pizza. In fact I'd consider changing it to "Nice Tomato Pie." In any case, if you're in the Syracuse area and want to try the good slices, this one is pretty good. read more

The NEW Nick's. Place had been closed a while due to construction on the building next door. They are back. This review is geared towards the one type of pizza I eat. THAT is Tomato pie. It has far less fat calories from cheese, but still satiates like pizza. The Tomato pie. Glorious thick, soft crusted focaccia pooled with generous helpings of sweet, zesty tomato sauce. The nine slice 8th Wonder of the World is only 14 bucks, but you will gladly leave a twenty and say " Keep the change, Maestro." The employees are WAY cool. But no one can compare with the out of this world manager who personally checks the quality of each tomato pie made. She is a real ball of fun and professionalism. It takes 45 minutes to get one of these gems made as the dough has to rise slowly. Utica, NY pizza chefs come by trying to figure how they do it. Ah this place brings back some great memories from when I used to work downtown! It was the go to place when you needed delicious pizza with a creative flair. I still come here even when its out of the way for me. They have one of the best pizzas there that I cannot get anywhere else. Well maybe I can, but it would be out of the norm anywhere else. Its the BBQ CBR pizza. That's Barbeque Chicken Bacon Ranch to the initiated. It combines all of the amazing flavors of a BBQ pizza with A CBR pizza. If you call ahead they will typically let you know that either one is made or they can make one for you. You wont regret eating a slice of that divine pie. I have been to this place many times and the pizza is consistently excellent. Having lived in Long Island and Manhattan most of my life my standards for pizza are very high. Just like the pizza I am accustomed to, Nick's Tomato Pie has nice thin crispy crust, covered with tasty cheese and tomato sauce. They have plenty of vegetarian options and many different meat toppings as well. They have a lot of seating so it's good for groups. It is one of the few places in town open late night which is great. Unfortunately, their hours of operation are not reflected in the sign outside. I've been to this place a few dozen times over the years. Each time I've asked for a slice of tomato pie (which they claim to sell!). I have NEVER successfully ordered a piece of tomato pie. They always say that they are out of it. I think it's an inside joke of some kind. Their regular pizza is pretty good, though! Nice large slices. Usually six or seven different types of pizza to choose from. I'm going to keep asking for the tomato pie. At least it might brighten their day if they can laugh at me for a minute or two. :D read more
