Oh no, I am a regular here especially during comic con. They relocated this downstairs and it looks like they put it in a ballroom. This place had no ambience or atmosphere. Looks like a place they would pitch a timeshare or insurance seminar. If you're looking for the high end energy this place used to have during conventions when it was busy, you will have to wait. Me and a few others walked in and didn't stay to eat and walked right out. Saw another couple people that said the same thing and they left for another place to eat. We got seated quickly but server took forever to check in on us. I got the Burrata and Market Fruit. I just thought more fruit would come with the meal but it was only peaches. Not only was it very convenient the food was delicious and they offered a healthy grilled chicken kiss meal option for our 2.5 year old. The fettuccine was absolutely amazing. I feel like they were making the pasta fresh. I had this on multiple occasions. I don't think there was anything I had that I didn't like. Our family chose the Marriott Hotel's Marina Kitchen for Christmas Day dinner, hoping for a warm, elegant holiday experience. Unfortunately, the evening began on a bumpy note when the manager spoke to us in an unprofessional and dismissive tone while directing us to our seating. For a major hotel, especially on Christmas, this was both surprising and disappointing. We shared our concerns with our cheerful and friendly waiter, who agreed the interaction was unacceptable and kindly said he would do what he could to make things right. He spoke to the manager on our behalf and let him know that we were upset and considering a formal complaint. The manager soon after came to our table, apologized, and said he did not realize how he came across. To help smooth things over, he ordered a round of drinks for the table, which we appreciated, but he should have done more. We then proceeded to the buffet. The food selection was decent and tasted good, but the décor was surprisingly plain for Christmas Day, simple, dull, and lacking any festive charm beyond a tree and some poinsettias on the tables. For the price and the occasion, we expected something much more special and thoughtfully presented. If it were not for our friendly, upbeat waiter who truly made an effort to save the experience, we likely would have left. As a family, we decided that next Christmas we will not be returning. Staying at the Marriott for the weekend. Went here for the breakfast buffet and I was disappointed unfortunately. They have plenty of food - pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit, pastries, oatmeal, etc. however, despite being under heat lamps, the food was cold! Ugh. They also had yogurt parfaits but didn't have them refrigerated or under anything to keep the yogurt cold so it was very unappetizing. The pancakes were good, but no butter was out and they had no ketchup either for the potatoes. The service was fine, and we were seated timely on a weekend day. I just was not impressed with the food temperature. The made to order omelets were good per my husband so if you go, I'd order that to guarantee your food will be warm. read more

Plating looks ok. The pesto tortellini is not with pesto. The burger comes with potatoes chips. When our order was taken, we were asked whether we want the burger with salad or fries. So we replied with fries without knowing that both salad and fries were charged extra $2. Also a duplicate order of market vegetables came which i sent back. We have four people in our party and we each order a dish. When the bill comes, as expected i see two market vegetables on the bill which i have to point out for the duplicate order to be taken out from the bill. My family and I are staying nearby and decided to head here for dinner since tonight was the only night we did not have plans. Initially, it was difficult to find and we were not the only ones who had trouble. Once we figured it out, we were able to be seated right away and our server, Isella, was great. Had a private event in the wine cellar. The barstools are horribly uncomfortable for a 3 hour dinner. The cellar itself is beautiful, but whoever thought of the seating needs to reconsider. It's narrow and hard for staff to maneuver. That said, Gigi was the bright shining star. She was so sweet and efficient and somehow omnipresent. She was the best. The shrimp appetizer, Parker rolls and chips were the best of the food I had. The piece of ribeye I tasted was good, but the cook was over. The chicken fettuccine was overcooked, both the chicken and the pasta. The chicken was so so dry and lacked flavor despite clearly having seasoning. It was strange. The pasta was almost mush. There was no cheese flavor at all. It was just bland. The Caesar salad had almost no dressing and there was little cheese. It was kind of like just eating plain romaine and croutons. The seven layer dessert was good but so very rich. It overpowered the ice cream that came with it. The espresso was good. Shishito Peppers: ordered purely out of curiosity, it was great actually for a person who can handle spice. I ate it as a salad as is, but also put it in a tortilla to make it underated odd franky. Both were good. 3. Cacio Pepe Cauliflower: This is pecorino romano, ricotta, almond, with black and blue seasoning- I don't know half of the ingredients mentioned here...lol! - But it was good. 4. I went here recently around the Christmas holiday as we're there for a short stay. The restaurant was pretty slow, and it was in the evening so fairly dark and intimate atmosphere. We had a reservation although didn't need one. We were seated fairly quickly but then it seems we were kind of forgotten about for a while. When we finally got a server and decided what we wanted, our food came out fairly quickly. One of my favorite items were the parkerhouse rolls, they were warm, just a bit toasty on the outside, and soft on the inside and came with a side of butter. These rolls were so delicious, and the perfect comfort food I wanted at the time. I also ordered the lobster roll which was loaded to the brim with lobster meat. I would have like the roll to have been toasted a bit more but it was very good. It came with a side of chips which were good, but nothing spectacular. The other person in my party ordered the burger and fries which they like a lot, but also couldn't finish as it was a large portion. The fries came with a few onion rings in it which I liked, and they automatically brought ranch out with it, which is appreciated. Overall the food was great and portions were good size, but the service was lacking a bit. They never even came back to ask if we wanted any drink refills, and it took a while for them to bring us the check and some boxes. We actually had to flag the server down to get their attention as we were ready to go. I would give them another chance as I did enjoy the food. read more

Well we met some clients here for lunch before going to Padres opening day. Let me tell you the service was horrendous, let me explain. We sit down at a table. I let the gentleman know who seated us who was half shaven that there was syrup on our chair and there was sticky syrup on our table and it was a put out for him to come back in. Clean its Your job! Now. Let's get to the food we order turkey BLT with mustard and mayo. Guess what? It doesn't come out with that's right mustard or mayo. It was an act of Congress to get mustard and mayo. Go figure! Then. My wife ordered the marinara flatbread. The same person who seeded us that was half shaven male set it down in front of me and I go excuse me sir. It goes over to my wife. You know what he does. Nothing walks away. As Marriott elite members, I am extremely disappointed in general. This is some of the worst service we have ever received. The customer service from Isabelle was perfect. She gave good advice on the entrees and was very attentive. She was just great! I really don't know why their overall scoring is so low. We are major foodies, and the food here was actually VERY good! The only thing is the ambiance and seating felt like a Vegas buffet when we first walked in. But they sat us near the window overlooking the pool area so it was still feeling romantic for us. Food: 1) shishito peppers - flavorful! 2) Beet salad - so delicious! Refreshing! I would actually request to add a little more cheese. 3) Oysters- small in size, so yummy and creamy! Not briney which we like. We ended up ordering a second plate. The sauce they served it with was the perfect amount of acidity! 4) fish and chips - amazing! The best we've ever had. The fish was so tender as they use Chilean sea bass. The wedge fries were flavored so well and fried perfectly. But we had to order more since the plate didn't seem to come with much. 5) yellowtail appetizer - was our least favorite. We've had better, there was no wow factor on this one. Too much toppings which didn't allow the sashimi to be the star. 6) chocolate cake - is what put them over the top! The link through the Marriott website has NO prices listed with the menu. Restaurant was relatively packed, if you're charging $38 for a breakfast buffet I think you can be burdened with updating your pricing online and with affiliates. I used to work for Marriott at a buffet that had steak Diane, prime rib, scallops, banana foster and a shrimp cocktail ice sculpture. That was good value. This is not good value. read more

Today we showed up around 2:30 pm, ordered some drinks and while we were waiting for the drinks we discovered they only serve bar bites between 2 and 5 pm. The waitress came back with our drinks and I told her we should have been told before we sat down and ordered drinks that it was a limit ordering of food and I didn't see "real" food on the menu. I was starving so I got the loaded fries and the chicken wings. I was pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes and the flavors didn't disappoint. Even though we came between lunch and dinner and they only had their bar menu available, I was very impressed with the quality of food and service provided. Our server was wonderful despite being one of the few that was there in between the lunch and dinner rush. He was able to manage the host stand, answer the phone while also being available to help us at our table. It's the perfect place to go when you want to take a break from all the walking and crowds at the convention center. Pricier than most places you find around the convention center for meals, the dessert and appetizer menu is pretty affordable and tasty, most under $10. I ordered their fried chicken with coleslaw and potato salad. It was surprisingly good that I wanted to come back again for lunch the next day. Hubby had his usual cheeseburger and fries- nothing special - its a cheeseburger. Fries were good. I wouldn't recommend their tortilla soup; it was basically a thick tomato soup with tortilla strips on top and cheese. Very bland. I was looking forward to the bread it came with; it seemed fluffy and promising, but it was a hard and stale disappointment. We've tried most of the desserts here and I highly recommend their cheesecake. It was very delish - just look at the picture. It comes out like a popsicle - lime and strawberry flavors, and the presentation is worth an Instagram post. The service here is a hit or a miss; thankfully, we get mostly awesome and friendly servers. Marina Kitchen is located in the Marriott Marquis Hotel. The view overlooks nice Palm trees and landscaping. On the other side of the pool is Roy's complete with a flag on the roof. We had the blackened fish sandwich and burrata with Brussels sprouts. Both were excellent. Add to that the almost Hawaiian style view and you have the backdrop for a great time. Our server was friendly and attentive. The hotel wraps around the pool area. The restaurant is on the second level and does not have a balcony. As such, Marina Kitchen does not have outside seating . Great place for special event brunch! We have had two special event brunches here in their back private rooms--reasonably priced and tasty brunch with a lovely room overlooking the Marina. They were very easy to work with to set up the event (one for 20 people, one for 60), and we did the breakfast buffet option for both. The breakfast buffet includes fruits, pastries, yogurts, eggs, multiple meats, pancakes, waffles, and best of all, build your own omelette or scramble bar prepared fresh in front of you! Would definitely host an event here again. We've also been here for dinner and drinks, which were both good, but the brunch is definitely the superstar here.
