Neapolitan pizza is something like a culinary ancestor to New York pizza, which has more mozzarella cheese and a somewhat sweeter sauce. The Italian salads and entrees are also excellent. The Chef-Owner trained in Italy, and it shows. Service is friendly, competent and responsive. The ambiance is modern, although I think the seating and tabletops are fairly basic. All in all, the pizzas are the stars of the menu, and well worth it as an authentic taste of classic Neapolitan cuisine.

I was told no and I could order a cheaper version at $95 that probably wholesales at under $20. It was not good. The food took two glasses wine time to arrive, approx 40 min and when arrived, the chicken was severely under cooked. Sent back and said it would be fast. Was not we took it to go. Also, had an order to go of the vodka pasta and when's arrived home, it had 19 noodles and appeared to be someone's leftovers packed up. Our bill was not adjusted and only the waiter apologized. I won't be going back or recommending. Poor way to run business.

I've had the Chicken Parmesan pasta, the Margherita pizza, and the Pepperoni pizza. Each of them was above average. The Chicken Parmesan came with a nicely breaded and cheese-covered piece of chicken with spaghetti and two pieces of garlic toast. It was good, though it could have used a little more red sauce. Pizzas are available as 20" or 14" pies, and certain ones you can get by the slice. The crust is medium thickness, light, with a soft core and a crispy outside. The Margherita was good but I preferred the Pepperoni. Overall, both pizzas were above average. I especially liked the crispiness of the outside of the crust. They also have salads and wings. Dessert consists of cheesecake or funnel cake fries. I haven't tried any of these yet. There is an inside dining area, a bar area, and an outdoor patio area. The inside is shared with Common Grounds coffee shop and Heritage Creamery ice cream shop, a couple of other local favorites.

That wasnt my biggest concern though. Slow rise has been my favorite pizza spot. I usually go to the one on the brazos but it was my first time at this location, after listening to the loud people talking and supposedly were also working. I was trying to enjoy my favorite pizza and when i look down to get my next bite there is a hair in my pizza. I try to take it off because i do have dogs so i wasn't certain if it came from me. It was a blonde hair and when i tried pulling it out it was under the cheese and intertwined INSIDE the pizza. After that i felt nauseous and i dont think i will be coming back. The service was mediocre to say the least and the hair inside my pizza made me want to vomit. Sad to write this review but even sadder i had to experience this at my all time favorite pizza place.

The pizza? Unreal. Cheesy, loaded, and unapologetically messy in the best way. The Four Meat Pizza is a carnivore's dream--piled high with every delicious topping they can fit on a crust. And speaking of crust, do yourself a favor and ask for it crispy. That's the magic move. We always start with a dinner salad--mostly to feel like we're doing something healthy before demolishing half a pizza. The service can be a little slow when they're packed, but honestly, it's part of the charm. Grab a drink, soak in the chaos, and wait for greatness. Poppa Rollo's isn't just a pizza joint. It's a Waco landmark. Quirky, delicious, and full of character--just like it's always been.

No one was at the entry station & we waited about 5 minutes before a tall, non-smiling, barely audible woman "greeted us" & led us to a booth. There were only two other booths occupied, & it was nearing 5:00 pm, quite surprising, since we recalled a once upon a time, bustling crowd. The same woman took our drink order, nowadays, "water", to keep the cost of eating out less of a sticker shock. A young man brought slightly burned top bread to our table, my husband said it was OK but would have enjoyed it better without the blackened tops. I asked the waitress if it was garlic bread, she told it was, & I mentioned I can't eat garlic bread, so she offered to bring rolls without garlic. I told her she didn't need to do that, but later, she brought me two delicious, perfectly baked hot rolls, without garlic. The creature was very kind .. but, still no smile! We love Luigis pasta dishes, but felt like trying their pizza & ordered the Luigis salad, to split. The salad was huge, but mainly chopped lettuce, red cabbage slivers, with two tomato wedges. Not near as impressive as salads we get at TX Roadhouse & the Longhorn Steak House, but crispy & good. They offered very few dressings, but the red Italian was delicious & my spouse said the ranch dressing was good, too. Mid-way through the salad, as an after thought, the Italian music was turned on, adding a bit of ambiance to the dark, quiet dining area. We thought that was odd, not turning music on, just as one would turn on lights, etc, at a restaurant. Our Canadian bacon/pineapple pizza, from the moment it was placed on the table, was unimpressive. It was thin, & void of an abundance of ingredients. It was very greasy, so we blotted every slice, having to go to the nearby entry station, still unoccupied, to grab extra napkins, because the waitress rarely returned to our table. Only one other group had entered the restaurant & another waitress was tending to them, so she was not "busy". How anyone can take cheese + meats + pineapple, & end up with a tasteless pizza, is beyond understanding, but add tough dough to the mix & Luigi's managed to serve the worst pizza we have ever been eaten! We were hungry & ate what we could, taking remaining slices home, thinking I could add bell pepper to a left over slice, toast it & eat it for a Sunday afternoon snack. For $16.99, we hated to leave 1/2 of a medium pizza, even though it was inferior quality! Honestly, we have gotten better at Domino's, for a fraction of the cost. We left the restaurant & went for a Sat evening drive, passing the restaurant, on Hwy 84, about 6:15 p.m., noticing few vehicles on the Luigis parking lot. What has happened? Would recommend someone to cheerfully greet customers, smiling/friendly waitresses, a manager coming around tables to greet & chat with customers, making them feel "welcome" & an evaluation of food quality! We hate to see a really good restaurant on the slippery slope of decline!
