I moved to North Van earlier this year and so when it came time to find a mechanic to have a block heater put in I had no idea who to go to in North Van. I decided to check on yelp to figure out where to go and saw all the good reviews for Marci Automotive. My partner called down for me, was told that it would be about $200 all in so he booked me in for today. I took my car in for 830am and dealt with a friendly guy at the counter who told me that they'd call me when my tracker was ready. I then walked the less than 1/2 block from Marci over Capilano Mall which was super handy as I wanted to catch a bus to work. I got a call at about 1pm saying that my tracker was ready and that it would be $194 which included the parts, labour and tax. I love that it came in at what they had told me it would be ($6 less in fact!) and that there were no surprises. I picked it up this afternoon, the same friendly guy came to the counter and I paid and left. I'm super stoked to have a block heater to help my car start in cold weather when I take it up into the mountains but I'm even more stoked that I found a good, honest mechanic on the North Shore! read more

I have tried several mechanics on the North Shore over the years to service both my personal vehicles, and also my business vehicles. Generally my loyalty lasts for several visits, but for one reason or another I've always felt the need to move on in hopes of finding a truly trust worthy shop. I recently had the brake booster go on my 2003 Toyota 4Runner, and after getting a price in excess of $5000.00 for the part alone from the stealership, I decided that I was not willing to risk that kind of money on my own diagnosis. I decided to try Marci Automotive in large part because of the fantastic reviews. After Amir had taken a look at the vehicle and confirmed it was the brake booster, he gave me the bad news that I already knew. It is a very expensive part. However, he had already located a used part for $850, and I decided to go with that. He installed the part, and bled the brakes, which on this vehicle involves connecting to the computer (he knew about this), and I'm back on the road. I took my Mercedes to Ali for a rear brake job on my '01 Mercedes C240. A week before, I had taken it to NM Sportscar who quoted me $400 for a rear brake job and also Mercedes-Benz North Van who quoted $500. When I returned to Marci to pick up my car, the final bill came to $165 and they informed me that I didn't actually need rotors when MB North Van and NM Sportscar both said I did. Aside from that, Ali and his son are both very friendly, easy to talk to and make automotive repairs a total pleasure to deal with. People warn you when buying highend luxury cars that the service will put a massive dent in your wallet but after dealing with the guys at Marci Auto, I'm a firm believer that there are only a few honest mechanics left in the game and these guys are one of them. My wife's engine was making a rattling noise and I believed it had something to do with one of the belts. I chose Marci Automotive based solely on some of the reviews I read on yelp. I did go out of my way to get there but it was more than worth it. Amir told me he would take a look at it and call me once he had more information. Amir called me and I was expecting a $400 - $600 repair. He asked me when was the last time the oil was changed? It turned out the engine was low on oil and the little oil in that was in the engine was quite dirty. I went in this morning feeling like I was at his mercy and it turned out all I needed was a $34.00 oil change. That was a good deal in itself! It is pretty cool to come across an honest mechanic. These guys are amazing. I'd been looking for a new mechanic for my VW golf wagon after being given poor service repeatedly by the dealership, and after some shopping around, took my car to Marci Auto. I'd been told that my brakes pads/rotors were due for replacement by my dealership (who, as an aside note, had given me wildly fluctuating % remaining estimates on each visit), but I went in to Marci asking for a brake pad replacement for the front/and rear wheels, they flat-out told me that my vehicle didn't need it, saving me hundreds of dollars, despite having booked my car in for the service-time it would have required. I've never had a mechanic decline service in my best interest. Will continue to use their service and recommend it to others. read more

Not that Marci Automotive needs another accolade, since they're so highly rated here, but I just want to re-affirm these guys' impeccable integrity & generosity in dealing with me. On the strength of great Yelp reviews and running out of time while I was in town, never having known or even heard of this shop, I took in my mother-in-law's 2005 Toyota Corolla for a suspected transmission problem. Amir fit me in his busy day and in under 2 hours reported nothing whatsoever wrong with the car. He ran a multi-point inspection and found engine oil and other maintenance items in good shape, so put me back on the road at no charge, whatsoever. Our experience with Marci Automotive reads much like everyone else's. We were in a tough situation where a mechanic didn't install our mass airflow sensor properly in our Volkswagen and someone suggested we go to Amir who is good with German cars. We were very worried it was the transmission or something with how our car was acting. It took not even 10 minutes for Amir to diagnose our car. He physically showed you exactly what was going on and explained why it wasn't working. He was so nice and helpful. He was able to fit us into his schedule that day and got the work done within the timeframe given. The bill at the end was less than our last mechanic who charged us more for cheaper parts. My brother's car was broke down in North Van. He was visiting me from Out of town, and that evening he had to go back so he can make it to his work the next day. I didn't know any auto shop in North Van so I googled it and found some comments about Marci Automotive. I called the shop, and they said they are very busy, but they can take a look at it. By the time, the car was towed there, it was close to their closing time, But after they found out that my brother has to go back to his city, they rushed order the part, and they stayed extra time to fix the car. I was referred to by a friend of mine. I have a 2003 BMW 745i. It was leaking coolant and BMW quoted me $6800 to fix it and they needed the car for 2 weeks. I also took it to a few other mechanic shops and they wouldn't even touch my car because its a BMW. I took it to Marci and they quoted me $1800. I agree'd and they finished my car in only 2 days. Very friendly and honest customer service. When I came to pick up the car I was expecting to pay $1800 or more but my bill was only $1677. Its very hard to find honest mechanics theses days. Took my car in at 3:00 PM and Amir had diagnosed and fixed the problem (distributor and spark plugs had failed) within 2 hours. I've never received same day service before, and Amir was extremely pleasant to deal with. In the end, I was charged minimal labour rates and I had my license plates reattached (the bolts were stripped and corroded) for free! Wow, I'm so glad for Yelp and Amir at Marci Automotive. We brought the car in for what we thought might be a major overall and it wasn't as bad and he fixed it fast and a reasonable rate. THEN, he told us how to fix our car radio that had died (when battery went down). Acura North Shore and another car radio shop both told us it would have to be replaced for over $1500. This is an honest mechanic that has fair pricing and they stand behind their work. We had a repair done there that wound up needing adjustments through no fault of the mechanic. He graciously took the truck back in and made the situation right.
