Alan goes the extra mile for every customer with a well trained crew. He is on a first name basis with many of his returning customers and always greets you with a smile. If you have other mechanical issues, he also owns the Midas shop a few kms up Kingsway that does brakes, exhaust, and other major repairs. I highly recommend this location, especially if you are a fleet owner.

I've never been so demeaned for being a woman. I called back for a refund after the refused to service me. Meanwhile Richard the owner sat in my car and googled codes he wasn't able to fix. The issue? My mechanic told me later that the tube they replaced in April was leaking, and that's what they refused to fix due to what I believe is incompetence. I called the following day for a refund and Allan told me to come in again and I said I didn't trust their work after coming in and waiting. Allan was extremely rude and dismissive after my long wait to an empty shop. If you aren't in an emergency, or a woman, AVOID this place. They add things to the bill without asking (my initial visit I was charged $100 for coolant I didn't want). Reported to BBB. Awful service. After a lack of info and waiting without answer, I towed my car. The new and trusted mechanic said the coolant leaked and needed a new hose. No one at Jiffy lube answered basic questions and in fact couldn't even find the leak! An appointment to fix the issue never happened. The owner, Richard, spent an entire hour sitting in my car Googling basic diagnostic codes on his personal cell phone. He did not know how to fix the issue, yet I was still charged [Insert amount if you want]. Falsely claiming we scheduled a follow-up is an attempt to cover up a complete lack of basic expertise and a rip-off. Future customers beware.

Mr Lube - Oil is perfectly clean and didn't require changing. These metal parts are not metal. They intentionally threw dirt in the second sample.

Mr Lube gets a lot of flack…read more It is your responsibility to not just say "Yes" to everything they suggest. I went in for an oil change. I always get synthetic oil because I understand it's better on the engine long term and lasts longer than a regular oil change. I came with a $15 coupon which they honoured. They recommended I change the air filter for $35. At this point I stopped, THOUGHT, and realized that yes, the air in the car had been stale over the last few months, despite periodic inside/outside car washes. So yes, I agreed to the filter. They then recommended a transmission fluid change for $125. Again, I politely told the mechanic to give me a moment to think about it. I turned to Google and researched transmission fluid (when to do it? How much does it cost? etc.). I though about how my car, a manual transmission, and how it had been jerking a bit after gear changes in the past few months. I checked my service records to see when it had been done last - nearly 100,000 kms ago. I gave them the green light to change it. They then offered to replace my battery. They claimed to have tested it, showed me a little slip of paper to indicate that battery was critically low, and offered to change it for $275. I politely told them to give me a moment, Googled it, and decided I could wait - Vancouver doesn't have a harsh climate, so less of a risk of a battery failure in the immediate future, especially in summer. For $260 I got a synthetic oil change, new air filter, transmission fluid, all of my fluids topped up, coffee, a newspaper, and the mechanic vacuumed the inside of my car. All of this in 15 minutes. Mr. Lube is convenient and efficient. I have never had them screw up their service (e.g. poorly done oil change), so to me they are competent. Yes they pressure you to do more than just the oil change. Stand your ground, do some research, and then decide.

Would not take no for an answer. So instead charged $75 for oil flush and oil conditioner that were never added and refused to print the invoice so I would not see it. Emailed it for my discovery later. $400 oil change and regret every penny. Zero confidence the job was done properly. How a national chain can support and allow this behavior, shame on Mr Lube.

I took my car for a standard service and to take a look at a warning light. I came away with a totally flat battery (couldnt even start the car in the forecourt and the warning light not dealt with). To top it all they charged me $500 for a $375 retail price Battery. They also charged me 30% more than I was quoted over the phone for my service and couldn't explain it other than to say it was a receptionist who misquoted me. Mike tried to BS me that he had placed a better battery, but his product code which he had cleverly disguised so clients can not cross check the price, aligned exactly with what he had fitted. I called him on it and of course he went silent on me. No responses whatsoever. To miss a flat battery, makes me wonder what else wasn't completed in this car service. When lining up to pay for the car on collection, both clients in front of me were complaining of overcharges against quotes already issued. This seems to be quite a common issue with MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. This is the last time my family will use MIDAS. We are not idiots MIKE. Don't hide behind your email. When you get called out on your BS, be a businessman, and answer your clients. Try and win them back. All you have done here for the sake of scraping an extra $200 out of me is loose our family custom and raise awareness to anyone reading this very fair and truthful statement NOT TO USE MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. You failed on every count Mike. PS: Tony is a good guy - he must be embarrassed to work for you.

I initially came in for an oil change and asked the owner / owner's son, Riaz, to check a few items while the car was on the hoist: the belt drive, control arms, brake fluid, and brake pads. I was completely fine paying for an inspection, and he mentioned it would be easy to check since the car was already lifted. After the oil change, I was told that all of the above items needed attention. Based on his recommendation, I authorized the brake fluid service and belt drive replacement. The old belt was never shown to me after replacement. Regarding the brakes, I was told--both verbally over the phone and in writing on the invoice--that the brake pads were 1 mm in the front and 3 mm in the rear, and that they needed to be replaced ASAP. I found this odd and questioned it, but he doubled down and assured me this was accurate. I was quoted $550 per axle, trusted the assessment, and agreed. I was also given labor quotes for the work and asked to return once I purchased the pads and control arms. The labor pricing was on the higher side, though still lower than the dealership. The parts took about a week to arrive. Once the parts came in, I called around and found another shop that beat their pricing, so I dropped the car off there instead. Midway through the day, the new shop called me to ask whether I actually wanted to replace the rear brake pads, because they measured 6-7 mm remaining and didn't understand why they were being replaced at all. I have never experienced an auto shop calling to confirm work because they believed it was unnecessary and unreasonable. That alone speaks volumes. I returned to Amin's to see if they would make things right. When I first called, I was told, "What do you want us to do? The manager isn't here and won't be back for six weeks." After pushing back, I was told to come in and discuss it. When I arrived, Mr. Amin was extremely confrontational and stated that they "only eyeball the brake thickness." I explained that I came to their shop specifically for a professional opinion, and that I had written confirmation from their invoice stating the rear pads were 3 mm, which was clearly not the case. Had I not chosen to source my own parts, I would have been charged $1,100 for brake work that was not needed. I was ultimately told to "get lost and sue me if you want." There was no attempt to resolve the issue, no accountability, and no professionalism. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop. im out money for parts and labor which i never needed.
