First of all, their prices were easily BETTER than any of the other competitors. There are a lot of factors that go into pricing, so I can't speak for everyone else. But in my case, here's how it turned out for reference: every company quoted me over $2,000 to move 7 blocks on the UES and these guys were almost half that at $1,300 based on the initial consultation. When it came time to pay the bill, that's exactly what we paid and there were no surprises or "gotcha" moments. On the initial phone call/consultation, they walk through every room to ensure they know what you intend to move and if there are any special requests. Then on the day of the move, they're very communicative and they arrive on time, work efficiently/quickly, and the whole crew was very respectful and polite. I hate moving, but if/when I have to move again, I will definitely be using 1/2 Price Movers to make it happen!

I'll definitely be hiring them again in the future.

Was a little bit concerned in the beginning because I wasn't able to be present during moving, and Peter was so nice and patient to connect with me via video call through the moving and my every single request was perfectly addressed. The moving was incredibly prompt and efficient: they were able to vacate my one-bedroom apartment in roughly one hour and Peter even stayed to clean up the room. What is more impressive is that they were able to drive 400 miles to have my things delivered on the same day! The moving occurred in the morning, and late in the afternoon I have received everything, which was taken great care of and arrived in perfect condition. On top of this being the most efficient and smooth moving I have ever had, their price is also extremely competitive. I quoted 5 or 6 moving companies and Happy Movers's price is absolutely unbeatable. Definitely will recommend Happy Movers to all my friends in NYC who need to move!

We moved in below freezing weather and it also started to snow and the movers worked incredibly hard all morning. We had to pay for the mattresses to be covered but they did such a great job protecting them it was totally worth it for a couple extra bucks! The move itself took longer than we expected which meant it costed more than we expected but that was only because we had so much stuff and were moving from one 5th floor walk up to another. The movers worked hard the entire time. And Mike did a great job letting us know the price ahead of time, no surprises. We also did our own due diligence and asked Mike a few times ahead of the move if he had things like bubble wrap, wardrobe boxes etc and he confirmed he had this for purchase if we needed - again, no surprises. The move itself was a bit long and stressful but my complaint about moving has nothing to do with the work the men completed! They were great and super helpful!

I enthusiastically recommend Gar Hing Moving, as they did an impeccable job with our recent…read moreapartment move, not to mention that they were reasonably priced, calm, and punctual. I've had several relocations within NYC and this by far went the smoothest. I had learned of Gar Hing from a former boss at work, who'd hired them to move him and his family. I evaluated over a dozen moving companies and selected Gar Hing because of the perceived value that I was getting relative to the price I was paying. We sent Gar Hing Moving (garhingmoving@gmail.com) a detailed list estimating the key furniture and number of boxes we had, and also requested their assistance in packing our kitchen. Luna responded with an estimate and we also did a walk-through of the apartment via FaceTime so she could see easily what belongings we had. We were pretty exact about the amount of items we had and the amount of time the move would take, which was about 2.25 hours in the same neighborhood. The final price was exactly as quoted. We had a few other questions in the days preceding our move, and Luna was always patient and quick to respond to my emails, and also sent my apartment building the COI well in advance. Overall, I was very pleased with the service. The crew of three arrived exactly on time; they spoke both English and Chinese; and while I was happy (or anxious) to lend a hand, they jokingly said that I should let them handle everything because they are more careful than I am. And they were right! It appears all our belongings are accounted for and we haven't noticed any imperfections or damages. The experience was seamless and I was delighted to provide a 20% tip. I'd definitely consider hiring Gar Hing Moving again.

We worked with Avi earlier in 2015 for two different moves within the NY/NJ area. We had to move…read morestuff from a NYC apartment and a NJ home into one larger NYC apartment. Timing was very challenging for these moves and our stuff would have to lay in wait until we were ready to move in and Avi/Horizon was accommodating with scheduling. He knew exactly how large our storage had to be by looking/handling our things and with his connections with the storage company, the process was headache-free. Regarding the packing and unpacking, it was done extremely efficiently and professionally. We asked if there was anything we could do to prepare for his guys (I don't know... wrap up our glassware?) and he asked us not to do anything because his guys know how to pack better than we do, likely. If something was found broken during unpacking, there would be no miscommunication about whose fault it was. Fair enough. So packing day was pretty stress free. My husband and I both had coffee in our hands as we casually took in the sight of our apartment full of memories slowly return to its bare bones. Occasionally, Avi would see us, stop, and tell us a story--he is filled with entertaining stories. Anyway, come time to unpack in the new place, the drop off was efficient again. The reassembly of furniture was done well and if it wasn't clear where it was going, they asked and followed through with our wishes. I remember having the large area rug repositioned at least 4 times and we all had a chuckle over it. "Happy wife, happy life,"- they said. Because our experience with Avi/Horizon Moving was so positive, we decided to use them again for our move to California--a much bigger and more complicated move. This was another situation where we had stuff in two different places (I still had stuff in my old apartment across town) and Avi was understanding and fulfilled our request. He came to our apartment and remembered everything - he even pointed out new pieces that he didn't recognize. In days, he had a quote for us. Nobody feels good about a quote of this size - everyone is expensive. But in the end, when you see the quality of labor and the attention given to packing, it really becomes a "money well spent" kind of situation. We had antique windows, mirrors, glass and fragile paintings that required special handling and Avi gave it the kind of attention necessary. We had crates specially made for a cross-country move and blankets/shrink strategically wrapped around every large (and small) piece of furniture. The scheduling was also impressively handled. I guess for cross-country moves, Avi/Horizon moving has to work with another cross-country moving company. We only knew and could vouch for Horizon Moving so we were rightfully concerned with the delivery portion of this move. But once we got back to California (before our stuff), we got a call from the other moving company immediately to confirm the delivery date. The guy on the phone was the same guy I spoke to each time I called to confirm/change the date and he remembered our order as soon as I said the name associated, which was really nice and assuring. They also did a great job unpacking for us. And it's not like Horizon Moving fell off the face of the planet once he handed our stuff over to the other guys. Avi texted us days before our delivery date as a reminder and to also tell us where the "sofa legs" were in case we forgot. That is great service. Overall, great work from start to finish!

I moved to Los Angeles, California from Brooklyn, New York on April 2014…read more I chose Horizon Moving after shopping around for movers and finally decided on Horizon because of its excellent Yelp reviews. Cost wise, they were competitive with the other two companies I was considering. First, I went to their website and completed an inventory count and received an estimate by email. Once I received the estimate, I called and Avi answered. I just wanted to understand the process of the move and told him my situation. He seems very relaxed on the phone but don't take it the wrong way. He really means business. After we talked I was convinced I was going to move forward with their services. My timeline was as follows: April 20, 2014 - I left one month early to look for a place to live in Los Angeles so I packed my belongings in boxes and left it in the Brooklyn apartment where my roommate still lived. The large furniture I was bringing was just left as is and I did not pack them. Avi confirmed that he was going to have my things picked up May 3. April 30, 2014 - Avi called to reconfirm that pick up will May 3 @ 8am. I was still in California so I coordinated the pick up with my roommate. Had to have 50% of the total cost ready for Avi on the pick up date. The rest would be paid once delivered. May 3, 2014 - Avi and his team arrived at 8am sharp (it was 5am in LA). My roommate and I FaceTimed so that I could see them packing and wanted to be available just in case there were any questions. They left at 9am sharp. They were pros. May 12, 2014 - Avi called to confirm the date of arrival. The exact date was not confirmed but I didn't really need my belongings on a specific date but it would be after May 23 since I couldn't move into my new place until then. May 20, 2014 - a person from the LA location called me to confirm date of delivery. I asked them to move it from May 24 to May 29 because new carpeting was going to be installed and I wanted to have an empty apartment during installation. Avi called me on the same day to see if someone called me to confirm delivery date. I was very pleased that Avi was still active in the process. May 29, 2014 - movers arrived and my belongings were in great shape. I had a mirrored dresser that is very fragile and it was packed really well and arrived in perfect condition. The two movers were professional and we worked together to confirm inventory. All was complete. I would use Avi and Horizon Moving again and highly recommend their services for cross-country moves. Avi, if you're reading this, thank you!

My Experience With Advanced Pro Movers -- Please Read Before Booking…read more I hired Advanced Pro Movers on July 17, 2026, through U-Haul Moving Help to load and unload my belongings. The owner, Aaron, advised me that the movers would likely go over the two hours I had already paid for. I agreed to add additional time through the U-Haul app. However, Aaron asked if I could pay him directly through Cash App instead, and I agreed at the time. I later learned that additional moving services and payments associated with a Moving Help booking should be handled through the Moving Help platform. This became especially concerning because I had purchased U-Haul's SafeMove coverage for my move. Since I paid the unloading portion separately through Cash App, I was concerned that the damages to my belongings would not be covered under the protection I had purchased. When Aaron and his team loaded my U-Haul, I noticed that they did not use the furniture pads that were provided with the truck. When they unloaded my belongings into my storage unit, my items were placed inside without what I considered reasonable care. A few days later, certified movers helped me with my belongings and discovered that several items had been damaged. I originally left a good review just like the other customer before I saw the damage they caused when my certified movers came to move my belongings from storage. Thank God for the cameras in the storage unit because Aaron is trying to place the blame on my other movers. When the cameras prove everything. I contacted Aaron and requested a refund because of the issues with the service, but I did not receive a response. I was charged $150 through the Moving Help website and an additional $180 through Cash App for the unloading portion. The storage unit was directly across the street. Aaron also told me that he had recently lowered his pricing around the time I booked. Additionally, I gave Aaron a couch to sell on my behalf, and he sold it for $225. In total, Aaron received approximately $555 from me between the moving services and the couch transaction. I'm sharing my experience so other customers can make an informed decision. If you use Advanced Pro Movers through U-Haul Moving Help, I recommend making sure every moving service, additional hour, and payment is processed through the Moving Help platform rather than paying separately. I also recommend taking photographs and videos of your belongings before the movers arrive, during loading, and after unloading, and keeping records of every payment and conversation. This review reflects my personal experience with Advanced Pro Movers on July 17, 2026.
