I moved to Los Angeles, California from Brooklyn, New York on April 2014. I chose Horizon Moving after shopping around for movers and finally decided on Horizon because of its excellent Yelp reviews. Cost wise, they were competitive with the other two companies I was considering. First, I went to their website and completed an inventory count and received an estimate by email. Once I received the estimate, I called and Avi answered. I just wanted to understand the process of the move and told him my situation. He seems very relaxed on the phone but don't take it the wrong way. He really means business. After we talked I was convinced I was going to move forward with their services. My timeline was as follows: April 20, 2014 - I left one month early to look for a place to live in Los Angeles so I packed my belongings in boxes and left it in the Brooklyn apartment where my roommate still lived. The large furniture I was bringing was just left as is and I did not pack them. Avi confirmed that he was going to have my things picked up May 3. April 30, 2014 - Avi called to reconfirm that pick up will May 3 @ 8am. I was still in California so I coordinated the pick up with my roommate. Had to have 50% of the total cost ready for Avi on the pick up date. The rest would be paid once delivered. May 3, 2014 - Avi and his team arrived at 8am sharp (it was 5am in LA). My roommate and I FaceTimed so that I could see them packing and wanted to be available just in case there were any questions. They left at 9am sharp. They were pros. May 12, 2014 - Avi called to confirm the date of arrival. The exact date was not confirmed but I didn't really need my belongings on a specific date but it would be after May 23 since I couldn't move into my new place until then. May 20, 2014 - a person from the LA location called me to confirm date of delivery. I asked them to move it from May 24 to May 29 because new carpeting was going to be installed and I wanted to have an empty apartment during installation. Avi called me on the same day to see if someone called me to confirm delivery date. I was very pleased that Avi was still active in the process. May 29, 2014 - movers arrived and my belongings were in great shape. I had a mirrored dresser that is very fragile and it was packed really well and arrived in perfect condition. The two movers were professional and we worked together to confirm inventory. All was complete. I would use Avi and Horizon Moving again and highly recommend their services for cross-country moves. Avi and his crew are awesome. In a business that's known for shady characters, these are the good guys. I moved from NYC to LA in August 2014 and used Horizon to move my apartment (basically all my earthly possessions). I was most impressed by the fact that they were honest with the cost estimate they provided and there were no hidden surprises or extra costs on moving day. I thought it was great that Avi came out and inspected everything a week before the move to make sure the quote he provided was accurate. Almost all of the other movers I contacted were unwilling to do this. On moving day, they were on time and efficient (cleared out a studio apt on the 4th floor with large furniture in under an hour). They were careful with all my stuff and wrapped or padded anything that was fragile. They were also well prepared with supplies. My stuff arrived in LA a week earlier than projected, with zero damage and nothing missing. Delivery was seamless on this end too and the movers were very helpful with placing furniture and setting up my bed. My only complaint was they didn't stay to help me unpack lol. The crew was professional and Avi is a great guy with a good sense of humor. I would recommend Horizon to anyone considering a long distance move. Worth every penny. read more

I have only had horrible experiences with movers - so I went with Horizon Moving because of their reviews on this site. HOORAY! Avi, the owner, came by to see my things and give me an estimate. I wasn't worried about my furniture as much as the experience - I didn't want to deal with movers. My experience with movers are dirty, smelly, sometimes drunk, and always rude. Avi is different. He's nice, my cats loved him, he's funny and personable and he put me at ease. During the estimation and for the week prior to my move he stayed in contact with me confirming the addresses, times, and costs. I was always completely assured that he would show up on time and take care of my move. But Avi did not show up on time. He showed up over an hour early, just to prepare and make sure he had a good parking space on the street. He and his team had moved my two bedrooms worth of stuff within 90 minutes, and the entire move was complete before lunch. It was hassle free! Avi had told me that if there was anything I didn't know how to pack (kettle bells, paintings, etc) to leave it out and he'd handle it. He's a master. His team wrapped up my furniture with rugs and we didn't have one casualty from the move. I am so impressed with this moving company and specifically with Avi. If I ever (god forbid) move again Avi is the only one I will call. read more

Had my friend move into the city just last week. I had always done the moving myself, but, this guy had a ton of stuff. His parents couldn't make it in, and my parents were busy. Against my will, we had to hire a company. I looked online and spoke to a couple of friends and eventually came across Horizon. All I could say is WOW. These guys came in, ON TIME, prepared, and well staffed. I was apprehensive about them breaking my friends bed (delicate old bed), but the movers were extra careful. These guys were real pros. They were also friendly, something I did not expect. We moved into Murray hill and they were super efficient. The moment the truck was parked, these guys were all hands on deck. Also, we were moving into a 5 floor walk-up. It was brutal, but these guys did an amazing job. The price paid was WELL WORTH IT for this kind of service. I would highly recommend Horizon Moving, Inc. Horizon Moving is a ONE IN A MILLION find. It's taken me a while to write this review, and considering I don't write reviews and hate moving, that should be proof enough. I cannot say enough good things about these guys: punctual, thorough, respectful, honest and very careful with my stuff. 1) they CAME OVER to give an estimate 2) their policy is that their estimate is FINAL and includes everything down to the tolls and taxes. I got screwed over with other movers charging for wrapping and bubble wrap and all sorts of extras. None with these guys. 3) The entire thing was done in 4 hours. as in, loading the truck in NYC, moving to CT, unloading and driving back. Unheard of! read more

I used this company last year. I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND them. I was moving from an elevator building to a 4th floor walk up. At the 4th floor walk up the barbaric crew allowed just one of the crew to move every box up the stairs. Perhaps this was some sort of sick initiation practice. I WAS NOT IMPRESSED! Plus the one lazy guy who was the leader and did barely anything took my bed apart to move it and did a horrible job putting it back together, it's been creaky ever since and wasn't that way before. The lead of the team was arrogant and unkind. I did everything I could to sincerely trying to make their jobs easier as I know this isn't a difficult job. The leader of the team managed everything and did nothing of the work, other than putting my bed together in a totally messed up way. When I gave him the tip for all three men I wasn't confident they all got their fair share. This is BAD moving company and I would not recommend them. They don't respect their fellow Employees or their customers. I'd rather pay more to ensure the hard working men get paid fairly. read more

I am planning a move from NY to CA, and found all the great things ppl had to say about Horizon and just had to move with them! I am a single mom, making over $60 a year. And the prices for relocation, to me seemed soo expensive, I knew I would have to budget and shop around. I got a quote from Avi and it was really steep but I was willing to move forward, and because I'm working with a budget, I was constantly redoing my moving itemized list, and I worked with two emails at the time to see if the price would change, maybe there were some things I could get rid off/ and didn't want to keep making revisions on the same email. Anyway, I guess Horizon/Avi got tired of me changing so often, as is human nature. This did not deter me, I was willing to pay upfront so this He knew I was serious and not playing games. One of the rare times he returned my call, he explained to me that he would not accept money upfront and would do a walk through so I would have a better idea of what it would cost. I explained to him, that I was working with a budget and would really appreciate that. He said he would work with me and we tentatively scheduled an appointment time/follow up. When I didn't here from him, I called back, he was very nasty and dismissive, also accused me of trying to trick him! Interrogated me on the phone, and accused me of trying to con him and by stating how much of an honest guy he was! Very defensive for no reason..why is that?!!! All of this before begrudgingly answering my very reasonable questions... UGHHH.. this guy!!! the moment he heard I was working with a budget, ignored my calls, didn't follow up on our tentative appointment times and had a very nasty attitude. We worked with Avi earlier in 2015 for two different moves within the NY/NJ area. We had to move stuff from a NYC apartment and a NJ home into one larger NYC apartment. Timing was very challenging for these moves and our stuff would have to lay in wait until we were ready to move in and Avi/Horizon was accommodating with scheduling. He knew exactly how large our storage had to be by looking/handling our things and with his connections with the storage company, the process was headache-free. Regarding the packing and unpacking, it was done extremely efficiently and professionally. We asked if there was anything we could do to prepare for his guys (I don't know... wrap up our glassware?) and he asked us not to do anything because his guys know how to pack better than we do, likely. If something was found broken during unpacking, there would be no miscommunication about whose fault it was. Fair enough. So packing day was pretty stress free. My husband and I both had coffee in our hands as we casually took in the sight of our apartment full of memories slowly return to its bare bones. Occasionally, Avi would see us, stop, and tell us a story--he is filled with entertaining stories. Anyway, come time to unpack in the new place, the drop off was efficient again. The reassembly of furniture was done well and if it wasn't clear where it was going, they asked and followed through with our wishes. I remember having the large area rug repositioned at least 4 times and we all had a chuckle over it. "Happy wife, happy life,"- they said. Because our experience with Avi/Horizon Moving was so positive, we decided to use them again for our move to California--a much bigger and more complicated move. This was another situation where we had stuff in two different places (I still had stuff in my old apartment across town) and Avi was understanding and fulfilled our request. He came to our apartment and remembered everything - he even pointed out new pieces that he didn't recognize. In days, he had a quote for us. Nobody feels good about a quote of this size - everyone is expensive. But in the end, when you see the quality of labor and the attention given to packing, it really becomes a "money well spent" kind of situation. We had antique windows, mirrors, glass and fragile paintings that required special handling and Avi gave it the kind of attention necessary. We had crates specially made for a cross-country move and blankets/shrink strategically wrapped around every large (and small) piece of furniture. The scheduling was also impressively handled. I guess for cross-country moves, Avi/Horizon moving has to work with another cross-country moving company. We only knew and could vouch for Horizon Moving so we were rightfully concerned with the delivery portion of this move. But once we got back to California (before our stuff), we got a call from the other moving company immediately to confirm the delivery date. The guy on the phone was the same guy I spoke to each time I called to confirm/change the date and he remembered our order as soon as I said the name associated, which was really nice and assuring. They also did a great job unpacking for us. And it's not like Horizon Moving fell off the face of the planet once he handed our stuff over to the other guys. Avi texted us days before our delivery date as a reminder and to also tell us where the "sofa legs" were in case we forgot. That is great service. Overall, great work from start to finish! read more

They were very professional, both the loading and unloading aspects were completed in less than 90 mins each (I lived on a fifth floor walk up). Everything arrived in good condition. I'm a bit late to write a review but better now than never. I used Horizon moving few months back to move few pieces of furniture I shipped from the UK over to NY. I know the business so I decided to go for a flat fee so no delays such as traffic will cost me if I was to go with an hourly rate. I scheduled the move and arranged to meet at a NJ storage place where the furniture arrives from abroad. Avi and his team arrived on time. A rare find these days. But soon I realised we were at the wrong place. Within minutes using his experience by making few calls he was able to get the right location and off we were all on our way. They picked up the furniture and delivered it to my apartment in a safe way. Avi had an experience moving people in and out of my building so getting in was a breeze. It is one thing to find professional movers but another to find someone you can trust with your privet belongings. Having no stress was worth it all. This was the first time I used Horizon Moving and they were great. Avi and his crew were responsive, professional, and got the move done in record time! They were very careful with my things, which I appreciated considering I moved into a fifth floor walkup. My move involved three stops -- one on Long Island, one in Greenwich Village, and one in Chelsea -- but Avi made the logistics easy to handle. Also, I really appreciated that they charged the same hourly rate even though my new apartment was a fifth floor walkup. I think the total price came out to exactly what Avi quoted me or even slightly under. Overall, it was a great experience and it was the first time that moving wasn't stressful. I hired Horizon for my move from Brooklyn to Philadelphia. I spoke to several companies, but I had a really good feeling when I met with Avi and he was able to give me a flat rate for the move (that did not change!!). On moving day, he called because he was going to be a little later than we had planned on, but the guys that came were able to pack all my things, dismantle my larger furniture, and get it all on their truck in 3 hours! Horizon handled our move from Manhattan to Tarrytown, NY in May 2013. We moved from a 3BR apartment to a four-story townhouse (lots of steps there). We needed to move on short notice and required a two-day move. Avi and his team were a pleasure to work with from the start. They were extremely responsive (and competitive) with the quote and arranging the move dates. We had them pack for us and they also had to disassemble several pieces of furniture. These guys are just outstanding. They worked tirelessly from early in the morning on day one until the late afternoon on day two (finishing ahead of time btw). They are a whirlwind of energy. No one on the team stands around, they all work hard. They are very professional and attacked the project right away. No obstacle stands in their way. They figured out how to get everything in the new place just the way we wanted. The reassembled everything and put every box and item in the room we requested, including rearranging boxes between rooms when we changed our minds. They had to carry large items up four flights of stairs and didn't complain once. Instead they went about the task with a great attitude and full effort. Their experience and professionalism is evidenced by the fact that not one item was lost or damaged. They handled our possessions as if they were their own. Moving is never fun, but Avi and his team are the best movers I've ever used or seen. He recently handled my move from Brooklyn to Riverdale. The level of service is really unbelievable - they are punctual, efficient, and take great care of your items. The cost is quite reasonable, considering the level of service.
