A group of us went for a pre-show dinner at Marble & Rye last week - I was excited since it was my first time back at the restaurant in over two years! Holy cow! I love the ambience. The restaurant is a large, dimly-lit room that fits just the right number of people. The tables are fairly spread out, so you won't feel like you're a sardine. They have a large bar where you can hang out and sip on a delicious cocktail instead of getting a table. I was a in a group with 8 people and they accommodated us with a nice table towards the back. I was glad we were all able to hear each other despite the place being fairly crowded by the time we left. The waiter greeted us right away and took our drink orders. They have a full bar (of course!) and they even have really interesting cocktails on the menu, including one which includes honey ice cream! I had the old fashioned, which was fantastic. We all enjoyed the drinks from the bar. The food menu is fairly limited. Most of the entrees are different types of "Detroit-style pizza". They do have 1 or 2 salad options, a double cheeseburger, and a pasta dish. Everyone at the table basically had one of these options and they were pleased. However, the cucumber salad was spicy and lacked flavor (we all tried it). Regarding the pizza, I may be a native long Islander, so I think NY style is king, however I am always open to trying different home-made pizzas, and Marble & Rue didn't disappoint! It was definitely sufficient for 1 person but could be shared between 2 people. I picked the clam pizza - it was absolutely delicious! You couldn't tell that there was clam in the pizza either - it did not smell or taste fishy. Our food was served nice and warm/hot. It took the waiter a while to get our food out, though I assumed he was trying to bring out all of the dishes at once. Marble & Rye is a great dinner spot for a group of people and also a great date night spot. Definitely an ideal place to eat if you are spending the night in the downtown area. It's about a 5-10 minute walk from Sheas, which is convenient. I will also add that the prices are reasonable :D, so give it a go! read more

I'm really saddened by my Marble + Rye experience, as it used to be my favorite restaurant in Buffalo. I'm not sure if there is a new chef or new management, but things unfortunately feel pretty down in the mouth. The menu hasn't had any updates in at least a year, and the "special" was just an item from the menu plus a beer, which is disappointing as their specials often offered a nice departure from their usual menu items. Despite being one of only a few tables, our food arrived after a relatively long wait. We both ordered the burger, which again, used to be my favorite. Not only were both our burgers overcooked, but my bun was clearly and significantly burned. I was surprised they let it out of the kitchen. Thus, both bun and burger were dry. There also seems to have been a redesign and where once low, dimly lit tables created a warm ambiance, tall white four-tops have replaced them. My drink also came in an odd teacup...it all just seemed like quite the departure from the restaurant's original charm. Finally, when we did voice our concern about the food to the waitress, nothing was done to ameliorate it other than an awkward nod on her part. Have been back a number of times since -- still a huge fan. They now also serve lunch Mon-Thursday's and I think it's one of the best lunch options downtown. Very small menu; pizzas, soups and rice bowls make up the brunt of it and there were no dessert options when I went, but the cream of mushroom soup that I ordered was one of the best tasting soups I've tasted in a long time. It had a variety of mushrooms and what tasted like a wine base of sorts. $7 got a huge portion that is honestly enough for a lunch in and of itself, but I'm a glutton at times so I needed more! My wife and I shared a rice bowl. It had brussel sprouts, onions, a little bit of curry spice and a a poached egg on top. A really delightful dish. One is enough to share between two people if you get something else like a soup. INTERIOR (5/5): I love it. Exposed brick wall, sexy lighting. It's a comfortable place to lounge around, catch up with a close friend, go with an SO. For dinner, I've tried: * their various burgers -- still contend that they are amazing and some of the best in the downtown area. House baked buns and a meat that is a combination of brisket, sirloin and chuck -- makes for a delicious burger when cooked to order. * octopus appetizer - The octopus was very tender and served with garlic scapes and Romesco. This was probably my second time in my life having romesco, but it is ****ing unbelievable and I'm excited to try to make some at home. It's a nut/pepper based fish sauce that originated from Spain and it is the perfect complement to the octopus. * Beef tartar - served with an egg in the middle. I only sampled a tiny bit and while pretty good, I found I needed to add a little bit of pepper to the beef. * salmon cured salad (not always on the menu) - It was decent and light. Overall, M+R is a great place to go for lunch, dinner and drinks. The staff has been incredibly accommodating every time. The larger dinner plates are out of my price range, but I'm happy to come here and devour small plates, burgers and salads. read more

My wife and I came here for a Friday date night and boy were we impressed. We've been here a couple times before but this place kept us coming back for more. We made a reservation (a must!) and we got some stellar outdoor seating right around sunset. Our drinks were 10/10, the wild heart and the milk punch, but literally everything on the menu is amazing. We didn't get to snag a picture of the paparadelle because it looked kinda gross if I'm being honest but it's gotta be one of the top 5 pastas I've ever had. GET. IT. The cucumber salad was fresh and had some nice spice to it. You really can't go wrong with anything at marble and rye, will always return! read more

Had an amazing night out at this restaurant. Service was a bit slow but the waiter was very attentive and informed us of the slight delay in food coming out. Your water was on a continuous refill. If you left dehydrated that was solely on you. We ordered crispy potatoes which came with chimichurri sauce and creme fraiche. Very tasty chimi sauce. Also ordered detroit style pepperoni pizza. This spot left me with one of my most favorable experiences I've had at any restaurant. We chose to go to this place because it was in walking distance of the Town Ballroom. We wanted to sit at the bar because we weren't going to have enough time for a dinner, but the bar appeared full. We nicely told the host we decided not to stay because of this and the host asked us to hold on. She went to the some of the guests at the bar and politely asked if anyone would be willing to move around a little so we could sit there. None of the guests were disrupted or inconvenienced by this and they moved so my husband and I could sit. This impressed my husband and me beyond belief!! The atmosphere is hipster, modern, NYC style with wooden-brick accent walls and it had the perfect amount of dimmed lighting. If you're familiar with Utica's Tailor and the Cook and Ocean Blue, this spot was nearly identical in atmosphere, décor, and style. We were provided with their happy hour list which happen to be the best happy hour selection I have ever seen anywhere! Mixed drinks are my forte. Among many other choices, they had Moscow Mules and Margaritas on the happy hour menu and they were only $5 each! Many would assume at that price the drinks would be "watered down" in alcohol, but these were not! Even watching the bartenders make the drinks felt like an art performance in itself. We ordered poutine for my husband. It was a huge dish for around $14. I have never seen poutine look so fancy and appealing. I ended up helping my husband chow down and I don't typically like poutine! In addition to the dish size and its visual appeal, the poutine didn't taste like it was overloaded with salt! I find this very rare in almost all restaurants. My husband and I were so impressed and pleased with this place that we are certainly going to be coming back when we visit the area again. read more

Finally checked this place out. It's funny cause I thought it would be more of a steak and burgers kind place but it's actually pretty healthy and clean. Don't worry they do have mouth watering burgers. Thinking about them makes me hungry again. But anyways they have super healthy yummy salads, vegan things are more. They even had octopus that my fiancé's Dad said was incredible. The cocktails were on point. The mules were even better. Deff check it out. Good vibes definitely a great place to kick it. The bartender was very generous with the drinks definitely made them how I like it. I sipped on grey goose vodka with a splash of cranberry juice & pine apple juice. The waiter was absolutely fabulous, and very attentive, the place was definitely not busy for a Friday and the crowd was definitely super chill. Appetizer was delicious & crispy a patatas something I don't remember but it was Fresh, for a late dinner I eat the carbonara which had duck bacon, egg & bucatini very fresh as well & flavorful. Desert consisted of the biggest slice of Russian honey cake which has soooo many layers, and sprinkles of honey all over two scoops of some sour cream ice cream on the side. I've Never have had a bad experience here, and I've been here quite a lot. Bartenders Meg and Jess are fantastic- every cocktail I've had here are top notch. My favorite food choice would be the Pickled Onion Rings & the M&R Burger, I was never much of a burger person until I tried theirs. I've also had some special dishes too which blew my mind (most notably this delicious Brussels Sprouts dish I had about 6mos ago) The Bar Snacks (Spicy Cukes!) / Happy Hour (5$ Select Cocktails) is a great deal and goes later into the evening (I believe 7pm?) I've been here on romantical dates, casually with friends and even in large groups for birthdays. Atmosphere inside suits all types/ They are very accommodating/ but definitely call ahead! When a friend was visiting from out of town, we stumbled upon Marble + Rye, looking for a place to eat downtown. I had never been, and it looked inviting while we walked past it. The "Rye" in the name helped. It was a Friday night, and we didn't have a reservation, but the hostess was gracious, made a joke about it, and seated us. They have an extensive list of bourbon, whiskey and rye. I got Elijah Craig on the rocks and my friend got a hard cider. The menu is mostly small plates with a few items that are entree sized. Our server was happy to tell us about the portion sizes. We ordered Mexican stewed green tomatoes, pickled onion rings with herb garlic aioli, m+r burger and the octopus. The tomatoes were my favorite. They were topped with a creamy corn salad that paired well with the tangy tomatoes. The burger was cooked to perfection, topped with raclette, shishito pepper aioli and pickled squash. The pickled onion rings were addicting! They were served with a herb aioli which complemented the pickled onions very well. My least favorite was the octopus. It was charred and served with a romesco sauce and topped with pickled jalapenos. The octopus was a little tough and the jalapenos were just too strong for me. I couldnt taste much after my first bite, and I am not one to shy away from hot food. The romesco had a nice flavor to it and the smokiness worked well with the octopus. I could tell that there was thought put behind every component on the plate. I would definitely go back to try other items from the regular menu and the daily specials. read more

Brought my boss from Chicago here tonight after hearing good reviews - and I couldn't have been happier with my choice! The drink menu is diverse and offers some awesome craft cocktail options alongside a nice wine and draught beer list. Our table shared the pickled onion rings, a special app for the evening of roasted carrots (so good), scallop fried rice, cacio de pepe, and falafel. Each of the dishes were nuanced with great textures, flavors, and high-quality ingredients. I was really impressed with the amount of vegetarian-friendly dishes on the menu - definitely more than the average upscale/quality restaurant in the area. Don't skip dessert, and I hope for your sake the next time you go that the 14-layer Russian Honey Cake is still on the menu! I've been to Marble and Rye several times. They have a nice bar and great ambience. The food menu is limited but good. Plenty of variety with drinks. I've had their burger a couple of times and it's my "go to ". However the fries could use improvement, hence the 4 stars. They aren't crispy and are over cooked - though they still tasted decent. I get the burger without the bun ( because I'd rather spend the calories on a drink lol ) therefore that's the picture I've included. read more

There is a saying, that many of us had heard at some point in time. That saying is, "Time heals all wounds". I find that saying so true, from my recent visit to M&R. My previous review, there were things that I really liked as well as things I was very disappointed in. This recent visit was on a Wednesday night. I didn't think it would be busy but it was. My wife and I had reservations and we were seated very promptly. (I strongly suggest reservations) The atmosphere was nice, and the low lit brick and mortar restaurant puts you in a relaxing chill mood. Our server Colin was great. He explained the menu as far as small plates & entrees as well as the specials for the night. As we looked over the menu, the first thing I noticed was the fact that it was so different from our previous visit. That in itself was a very welcomed thing. I had a lot of choices to make, from the burgers to the steak dinner. They have 3 choices of salads, it would be nice to see M&R give a option of adding a protein to your salad. Of course, at an additional cost. Also it would be nice if they offer a seafood dish, even if it's just salmon. We decided to order the chips and dip & the steak dinner. The food was very good, and I was totally satisfied. We shared an apple tart & ice cream for dessert. The drinks were refreshing, but different than what I was expecting. From the cocktail menu we ordered the Wild Heart & the Odessey & Oracle. To me the drinks were more showy than tasty, but it could just be me. I am more of a scotch drinker anyways. DELICIOUS I wish this place was in Rochester. Crispy chick peas: Really good, Indian spices Spicy cukes: Outstanding, not just spicy but tasty with cilantro and maybe dill? fennel? Whatever it was it was amazing. Patatas Bravas: Phenomenal, just so so tasty Kale Ceasar: Really good version. The kale was so tender, maybe they blanch it? Massage it? And the favorite of the table... PICKLED ONION RINGS: So light and crispy, with the briny and sweet pickled taste bursting out with each bite. Just insanely tasty. I need a Rochester restaurant to start making these. Regular onion rings, previously one of my favorite foods, seem like a cool puddle of snot next to M+R's version. If I had a sixth star to give, it would go to M+R for these alone. Oh and the service was kind, prompt, and helpful. I went there with a few coworkers for dinner before going to Sheas. So nice inside. We order two small plates (as they called it) while we where waiting for our dinner. One of the plates was Pickled onion rings. They were so good. I would totally recommend trying them. For dinner I had the PASTURED CHICKEN Airline Chicken Breast, Soft Polenta, Wood-Roasted Seasonal Vegetables, Herbs. It was good but I thought the chicken could have had some seasoning to it. What I did was mix the chicken with the polenta which made it taste better. I was going to get the hamburger but I wanted to try something else. Maybe next time. Two of my coworkers had the hamburger and they said it was delicious, the other coworker had the steak & he said it was awesome. Service was great. I would recommend this place. read more

What a darling restaurant tucked away downtown. We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. While the tables were booked with reservations, we were able to get seating for four at the bar area without a problem. Our bartender was outstanding. He recommended drinks and provided great service. We ordered a few appetizers (chips and dip- delicious, crispy chickpeas- interesting and crispy, just a little bland for my liking) and a round of Gouda burgers. The burgers were flavorful and the Gouda made them even more delicious. Our drinks were pretty tasty as well. I went with the Shake Senora. It was very refreshing. Marble & rye is an eclectic restaurant on Genesee st, downtown. I am a fan of the long happy hour, which runs Tuesday through Friday till 7... for a happy hour there is a decent selection of simple craft cocktails and a couple of small plates. My girlfriend and I had the daiquiri, with a little extra simple syrup to cut the tartness of the lime juice. We ordered the crispy chick peas and the chips and dip, both were very good, especially the chips. They are house made, with a bison like dip, and added spices. We then went to a table, and ordered the burger on a special, with a sweet relish.. which was fantastic! One of the best burgers in buffalo ! I recently had lunch here. It was a spur of the moment lunch so I hadn't reviewed the menu beforehand. I was seated immediately, it wasn't busy. The waitress was very pleasant. The lunch menu is nothing like the dinner one. It has a few pizzas, a rice bowl of the day, some salads and perhaps a few other things. I had a pizza. It was fine but nothing I'm still thinking about. The menu is also not memorable, hence my lack of detail. While it was a nice lunch, it was clear the place gets too loud quickly. Midway through lunch they turned up the music volume for some reason. I couldn't wait to get out as a result. Prior to that the music had been a fine volume, just some low level background level. But once they upped it the acoustics come into play and they are tough. The brick walls and industrial ceiling have nothing to absorb sound so the noise just bounces around. The bar is extensive and full. That's great. It's also a nice place to sit. All good. I'll try it for dinner on a slow night (hoping to hear my dining companions), because that menu does look interesting. Maybe I'll up stars then. But for lunch it was A-OK. Street parking. read more

We mistakenly made our reservation for a Marble & Rye in North Carolina soo we ended sitting at the bar for dinner, which I think made for an even better experience. You get to watch the bartenders make their amazing cocktails & overlook the restaurant. I got caught plate staring a few times. The decor is very modern, clean and pleasant. Gives the illusion i'm enjoying a drink in Manhattan. Best whiskey sour I ever had. Our bartender really went out of her way to listen to the types of drinks we like to come up with concoctions. Very extensive liquor variety. They also have a pretty stellar beer + wine selection. Ordered crispy chickpeas for an app. I thought they were pretty flavorless even with the added spice. But apparently SAT night around 6 is appetizer happy hour so we got it for a dollar. Not a bad thing to snack on while having drinks or waiting for your food. We also got chips + dip. I'm a sucker for homemade chips. And the dip had a little more pizzazz than your usual Bison Dip. I just wish we got more dip since the ratio was clearly in favor of the chips. My GF got the small pasta. I remember it having anchovies. She loved it and said the portion was perfect. I had a bite & really liked the thick spaghetti noodles they used. First time to Marble & Rye, I needed my sunglasses because the fluorescent lighting was outrageous. I felt like I was stepping inside an operating room, not a relaxing chic setting that I was hoping to dine in. I came by around midnight, but you could have told me it was the sunniest day around noon and I would have believed you. The restaurant is somewhat secluded and easy to miss so I figured the goal was to become more visible to people driving by, nevertheless, I still felt they needed to be turned down a notch or twelve. Second time in, they had dimmed the bulbs and WOW, what a difference this adjustment made. It was like night and day.....literally. Came in around 10 with a group of five and we were able to grab five seats at the bar. The bar is stunning. Beautiful flowers with rustic accents, brick wall with glass shelving for liquor, blackboard indicating beers on tap and mason jars nearby with cocktail ingredients. We had at least one bartender or bar back's attention constantly. Never waiting more than a few seconds for a new drink or conversation. They were all friendly and knowledgable about the menu and gave great suggestions. We started with the octopus and we were all surprised when we heard it was 8 ounces for an appetizer portion, that's big! One was enough for the five of us to each try a bite or two. I gave it a try and in all honesty, couldn't get past the texture. It was far too chewy for me and even two people I was with who frequently eat octopus said it was a little chewy for them too. However, my friend who had recently been to Spain and ate octopus daily said it was out of this world. The flavors were fantastic, no doubt about that, perhaps Octopus just isn't my thing. We went with a toast board that had three different spreads; schmaltz, butter and seasonal jam. The sourdough bread was so delicious and I was a huge fan of the seasonal jam. I even tried the schmaltz which is completely out of my food comfort zone and that too was seriously sinful. The board was big enough for five people to each have a piece of bread. We were told we just HAD to have the onion rings. I am not a big fried food fan, but we were all experimenting that night and did whatever the bartenders told us. The onion rings were pickled and served with a roasted garlic aioli that was perfect. Very shareable for three people, we had two orders. In between the food we had an array of beers. They had a GREAT beer selection in my opinion. Goose Island Sofie, Bell's Oberon, Ballast Point Sculpin, Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale were some of the ones that caught my eye and they had other great options in the bottle. Their cocktails sounded phenomenal, unique and a little intimidating. For example, their "Mr. Peabody" contained gin, lemon, english peas, tarragon and green peppercorns. Who wants peas in their cocktail? You do. It was amazing. Hints of pepper and a really subtle pea flavor that complimented the drink so well. "Meet me in the coatroom" was so tasty as well. I don't love fernet, but the additional ingredients helped develop an interesting flavor I enjoyed. It was time to order entrees and we did the ultimate no-no when you are dining with a group wanting to try different things.....we got 5 burgers. This is when I fell in love. For the most part. There was some interesting green spread on the bun, I tasted it, hated it. It was a salty seaweed flavor and I really wish I had known this came on it because I would have said no thank you to that. It wasn't a big deal because I had only planned on eating one side of the bun anyways. The medium rare burger was cooked exactly right, it was juicy and big and filling and one of the best burgers I have had in some time. The cheddar cheese was interesting, had a really bright color and noticeable appearance, tasted too good. I am not a fry person, I took them out of my diet years ago and only on rare occasions will I indulge. My friends told me to, "just try one" because they were too good to pass up on. Fine, I had one, then two then 20 and they were ridiculous. I hate salt, can't stand it, and there was little to none on the fries and I thoroughly appreciated that. They were thick but not too thick; Marble & Rye has seriously perfected the fry. We didn't have any room for desserts but I've heard they are great. Whiskey apple pie??? Are you kidding me? We came here last night on a whim. It was a cold and rainy Tuesday night - I was surprised at how busy it was. 90% of the tables were occupied the entire time we were there (7:15-8:30ish) and the bar was full. The lack of parking annoyed me, since it was a super nasty evening of rain. Luckily, Toutant wasn't open and we found a spot in front of it. The decor was simple and trendy/modern. It felt kinda like a NYC spot - small tables and small chairs. The tables had a good amount of space between one another so that was nice. There was a nice window bench seating area on one side next to a big shelf with covered cubbies... not sure if it's just a decorative piece of furniture or if people can put their belongings in it. I can foresee there being an issue with the front door as winter gets here... every time someone opens the door, there's nothing to stop the draft blowing in directly into everyone as it's one big open space. They should probably consider adding a second door on the exterior as a buffer, or put in some kind of heavy curtain to minimize that. Moving on... they seemed a little understaffed - not sure if it's because they weren't expecting to be so busy on a Tuesday night? It took a while before we were able to order drinks and then another while until we got our drinks. My fiance ordered the Allagash white ale (one of our favorites) and I got the "note to self". I can't remember exactly what was in it but it had campari and prosecco - it was nice and light with a bitter finish. For appetizers we ordered the grilled octopus and the pickled onion rings. I was not a fan of the way they prepared the octopus - it came in one big piece, topped with sliced jalapenos and a little bit of a red pepper based sauce and thinly sliced green onions. Unlike the grilled octopus I've had in the past - this had little flavor. I'm no chef but I'm going to say it's because it's in one big piece and so it didn't have much of a grilling surface for any flavors to kick in. That and the very little blob of the red pepper sauce - made for a pretty flavorless octopus dish. As far as the pickled onion rings - the batter was excellent, but the pickled onion rings got old very quickly. Some of the pieces were way too big and all the batter had fallen off... I think this should probably just be a topping on a burger (which they do offer) or on other dishes, as opposed to its own dish, but that's just my opinion. We also ordered a small pasta ($6) and shared. It was homemade pasta topped with parmesan cheese and cracked pepper and drizzled with olive oil. Albeit a very tiny portion (which was expected), it was very tasty! For our entree, we shared their cheeseburger. their patty is made with a beef/brisket/chuck mix with a bit of bone marrow. The flavor was excellent and it was cooked perfectly. It came on a nice airy/fluffy sesame bun with just the right amount of their "special sauce" and lettuce and fresh white onions. Their special sauce is some kind of a seaweed mixture... for the most part it tasted fine, but they must have been heavier in certain parts because there were a couple of bites that had a very heavy "fishy/seaweed" taste. The fries that came with the burger were perfectly seasoned and crispy - they were very thick cut and appeared to be fresh/hand cut. One thing that I noticed was that our waiter did not ask us how our food was at any point throughout the entire meal, and when he dropped off the bill he didn't even say a word. Probably my favorite restaurant in Buffalo. I love that the menu is ever changing but am so sad when my favorites are no longer available. I miss the breads and spreads and the green eggs and ham and the spaghetti squash. I'm really hoping the make the Russian Honey Cake a permanent part of the menu!! That slightly tart sour cream ice cream is so complimentary to the rich cake and buttercream. We went last week to try one of the Msngalitsa pork specials. The highlight of my dining experience at Marble + Rye were the two mocktails my husband and I enjoyed. I'm pregnant, so regular cocktails are a no-go for me now, but I greatly appreciated being able to celebrate our anniversary with fancy nonalcoholic beverages. The mocktails are seasonal and up to the bartender's fancy, though we got to note any flavors we disliked. One of our drinks was passion fruit-flavored with a nice layer of foam at the top, like a sherbet punch you might have had as a kid, but a little fancier, and the other had hibiscus, black tea, mint and other flavors over ice. I'd happily drink either one again. For food, we shared the pickled onion rings and falafel, and then I had a small order of the fettuccine with spring onion pesto, and my husband had the M+R Burger. We have hearty appetites, but this was too much food. The three dishes I got to eat were all right. My favorite was the butter-roasted hummus that came with the falafel, because it reminded me of KFC biscuits (which were my favorite thing from KFC back when I wasn't a vegetarian and ate KFC). But I would have liked if the onion rings and falafel dishes were available in smaller portions, because we got tired of eating them after a while. The menu has some smaller-portioned plates, but they weren't as tempting to us. My husband's burger did look fantastic, though he wasn't that hungry after our starters to fully appreciate it. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice but casual, and I'd recommend it if you were looking for a date night spot that makes good drinks. For vegetarians, the falafel and the fettuccine are the only veg-friendly larger plates on the menu, so I wouldn't recommend M+R for dinner, but you might have better luck with the smaller-portioned dishes, if you just wanted appetizers to go with your beverages. read more

This is a great farm to table restaurant where the ingredients were local, the food fresh and homemade. There are a lot of different craft cocktails to choose from and all tasted delicious. I had the Shake Senora which was light tasting and just sweet enough! We started with the crispy chickpeas which are so simple yet so addicting. They are also so cheap! I then split a large farm salad which was perfectly dressed. The greens to the homemade croutons were my favorite part. Lastly, I had the Quebec cheeseburger which was very large and tasty. The burger itself was cooked well and very juicy. The ambience was nice. A tad bit dark and loud in the restaurant, but the decor was simple and elegant. We appreciated that they were able to seat us for a Friday dinner without reservations when most other places on restaurant row could not. It's a fun atmosphere, with many happily chatting bar patrons. My only criticism is the long wait for our meal, and the unavailability of tomato slices for burger toppings (perhaps this was the server's mistake). Service was polite. If you enjoy tapas, this place is a must. The empanadas were very good. They also had patatas bravas, calamares, and other Spain-inspired treats when we were there. My cod-fried rice was tasty, my husband liked his fresh pasta dish, and our daughter devoured her burger. read more

This is now one of my favorite spots. After hearing about it many many times, we decided to try it after "Live @O'Larkin" late on a Friday night. We walked in with no reservation and were told about 15 minutes. We headed to the bar for a cocktail while we waited. I am SOOOOOO glad we did!! We had an opportunity to talk beer, bourbon and vodka with Christian, one of the owners. Talking with him alone would be a great a great reason to stop again!! While talking vodka he let me sample Tommy Rotter which I hadn't tried and while talking beer, he gave me a sample of Evil Twin Gose. Add in the fact he makes a mean Moscow Mule AND its served in a real copper cup makes this a definite drink to try and a great place to have a few cocktails. Food wise, we only tried the burgers based on what we had heard and we were both very happy we did!! What I personally liked was that everything is LOCAL from the beef to the eggs to the bread AAAAAND, the pasta is made fresh in house. Back to the burgers; my egg burger was cooked perfectly. I'm not a fan of white cheddar but it worked. My girlfriend had the "not on the menu secret burger". All I can say is WOW!! This is what a Big Mac SHOULD be!! Again, cooked perfectly. A few weeks ago I was on a "hunt" for a special restaurant for my love Dan's Birthday! Let me tell you this restaurant didn't let down one bit. I made 6pm dinner reservations @ Opentable. We arrived around 5:30p and enjoyed a craft cocktail at their trendy bar. They have happy hr. Specials M-F 4-7p they include some $5 craft cocktails and $1 "Bar Snacks". We ordered a Moscow mule cocktail and a bourbon & house made tea drink. Both very refreshing! For the $1 bar snacks we shared homemade chips and dip AND SPICY cucumbers! Hit the spot with our drinks! At 6pm we were seated and the friendly waiter went over some specials. I appreciate the fact Marble & Rye buy their produce and meat from local farms!! Can't beat organic and freshness. Started off with a Swiss chard salad with thin sliced pear, goat cheese Gouda, croutons, homemade lemon garlic vinaigrette. This salad was big enough to share. Glad we ordered this item! Motivated me to make my own Swiss chard salad. I knew coming into this Dan wanted the burger because we heard it was the BEST in Buffalo. Well the waiter explained the meat was freshly ground in house w/ various cuts of beef and even bone marrow is added for flavor. We both ordered the cheeseburger because it sounded amazing. The first bite into the burger was even more amazing, let's describe the feeling as "MIND BLOWING" but in a good way! Cheddar came on the cheeseburger, thick fresh white sweet onion, "special sauce" v. Good, side of fries and ketchup. The fries were fresh cut and tasty. I enjoyed EVERY bite of that burger but ended up taking most of the fries home! Oh and the brioche bun was homemade to add to this "Best Burger"! I'm not a big red meat person. But I will order it if it's fresh and organic. Marble & Rye surpassed my expectations and we can't wait to go back to try some new things on their menu!!!
