I brought my laptop in because it would no longer boot up correctly after running Norton Utilities and the automatic repair tools wouldn't work. I was told that the prognosis was pretty grimm and we could recover the data, but would have to restore the OS an reinstall all of the software, etc. They were very friendly and just trying to be honest, which I appreciate. They said they would try a few things, but weren't optimistic. Well, I'm glad I didn't listen. I did a 5 minute search on Google that led to an article that took me through (step-by-step) fixing the problem in 3 minutes. My computer was immediately back to being FULLY functional with no loss of data or programs. I guess this would be a 5 start review had someone said: those are hard errors to fix, but we can look online and research to see if there are fixes out there for this type of problem. I would have left them my computer. But would they have searched or just come to the conclusion that a wipe of the computer was the only fix? Note: I consider myself to be very computer literate and only went looking for "expert" help when I couldn't figure out a resolution. In hindsight, I now realize i could have done a google search earlier and saved myself a trip.

(...and I hardly ever give 5 stars ;-) I had 2 very successful repairs there, just never got around to writing a review: Firstly, about a year ago, when my pc all of a sudden got really slow, I brought it in to Best Buy...a horrible experience by the way: The (very impatient) guy there started the pc several times, then force shut it down each time, by simply pulling the plug, then opened it and started unscrewing parts of it in front of my eyes, to then simply tell me, I needed a new pc! When I got home, the pc wouldn't start up anymore at all!! I was extremely upset, to say the least. I really needed a second opinion, and so went to Apex, here in Malden. They were super friendly, and immediately figured out the problem: The Best Buy guy had purposefully switched two cables inside the pc, so it wouldn't start up anymore!! (...of course I went back and filed a complaint and will never go there again!!) But the most amazing thing was, since this only took 5 min., it was free of charge! I couldn't believe it, because Best Buy had offered me to keep my "trash" to either get rid of it for me, or fix it for "roughly $500"...!! I certainly learned my lesson!! The second time I had computer problems a few days ago, I went there again, and just like before, they were able to take care of the problem within minutes (my pc is 6 years old, so I am always worried it might say goodbye for good). I'm not super computer savvy, but even my tech- friends hadn't been able to figure out the problem each time...so again, it is worth so much when you can trust people with more knowledge, rather having to worry that they will take advantage of you to make a quick buck. Again, super friendly service, I want to especially thank Jose, who even remembered me from before and answered every question I had with a smile. I'm all for supporting local businesses, so I'm "doubly happy" I found them.;-)) 5 stars all around!!!

Azimuth Computer Solutions, THANK YOU!…read more Found Azimuth Computer Solutions (ACS) by chance, and am so delighted and grateful.  Had used Best Buy's Geek Squad for past computer problems, who were OK but always wanted to do things strictly on their terms, e.g., requiring me to bring my computer to their store and having me wait around for service, with only moderate success in resolving the issues. After decades of relying on computers, finally got my first dreaded "blue screen," with windows not loading at all.  Had all but given up trying to resolve the problem and was ready to spend $$$$ on a new computer and software to replace what had worked only a day earlier.  Fortunately, saw that my wife had left ACS's phone number on the kitchen table, so I called ACS as my second-to-last resort, and so glad I did. ACS's Frank answered my call and walked me through a bunch of alternative sequences over the phone, including going back in time to the antiquated DOS operating system.  Throughout the process, Frank was incredibly patient, cordial, AND knowledgeable.  After the better part of an hour, VOILA!  Problem solved, along with receiving some of Frank's safeguards and recommendations for preventing a repeat, all for a more-than-reasonable price. I've had components still under warranty that he fixed for no cost. The only drawback was the item had to be shipped to the manufacturer and required a couple of weeks for the manufacturer to receive, approve, and return the item to Boris.
