Maplewood never disappoints! We routinely meet at Maplewood Hammonton as it's a halfway point for both my South Jersey and my Philly childhood girlfriends. There's a few reasons we love it! First, service is amazing. I wish I knew our servers name as well weee just there yesterday for lunch. They didn't rush us. We sat down at 12 and left after three hours (!) of gabbing. Second, the food is consistently amazing! Beginning with the crusty warm bread, to the family style salad to the delicious lunch entrees. I had one of my favs, the crab and red sauce. The knuckles of crabmeat are just outrageous and plentiful. Two of my friends had the crab in white sauce. Looked just as delish. Others had veal parm, eggplant parm cheesesteak...odd combo but she said it was outrageously good...as well as chicken parm. The Maplewood is a staple in Atlantic County from Hammonton to Mays Landing. I love this place, and never had a bad meal! I have enjoyed their takeout service on several occasions. My go to meal is the Cavatelli Franco, which I never deviate from. It's loaded with lump crab meat and large shrimp in a spicy gravy. Every time I see it, I always say there is no way I am going to finish it. At the end, I find myself wiping the dish clean with the garlic bread. read more

We have been going to the Maplewood in Hammonton for years, tonight was the worst ever! We waited 15 minutes for a drink; the bread was so hard it could break your teeth although the salad was good. The waitress wrote down my food order as broiled flounder which I had asked for broiled stuffed flounder, which she admitted was her error. My spouse ate his whole dinner before mine came out, and the baked potato was rotten; We were so disgusted I only ate a little of my dinner at this point. I was told due to mix-up with the waitress I would receive a free desert, which I did not take. Always a hit here! This is actually one of our top five spots in this area, our go to! The service is excellent. The meals are fresh and delicious. The vibe is relaxing. I enjoyed the salmon, a generous center cut portion of perfection over fresh spinach. My go to here as to keep the calories down. The Uncle Ninos entrée is outstanding! Extremely disappointed! For years, we went to the Maplewood in Hammonton! Even know the prices increased significantly, we continued to frequent there because the service and food was always consistant. Tonight our service was extremely poor. Upon arrival there was a delay in obtaining our food and drink order. When giving the waitress our drink order, she was confused about the order that was directly on the menu. When we ordered our entrees, never asked what type of pasta nor disclosed an up charge for the change in sauce. The garlic bread and salad arrived, the garlic bread was burnt. Another waitress brought out our entrees, and we never saw our waitress again! When our waitress finally came back to the table she asked if we wanted one box, I was not close to finishing my dinner. We had empty glasses, empty garlic bread, and empty cheese holder! We asked for additional drinks, garlic bread, and cheese. The waitress brought back "A" drink and another batch of burnt garlic bread. Duringthis time she seem extremely frustrated that she had to bring us additional items. I like the bread they serve i, it's always fresh! I've had there, chicken fettuccine, veal parm, gnocchi, ravioli, meatballs and chicken parm. Gnocchi and fresh pasta are delicious. Veal and chicken are pounded paper thin, so you can't tell what you're eating. Raviolis and meatballs not the best, I've had frozen that are better. My husband always orders one of their pasta seafood dish and loves all of them. I guess if we go again I'll try one. Expected to have a nice enjoyable meal, starting with their great salad. We did not get one bite of the salad and the Hot Apps we dropped on the table, with a 'dinners will be out in a minute'. I asked the runner, not to bring the entrees until we had a chance to enjoy the food on the table. So last Wednesday I along with my daughter and grandson met my mother and her husband Mark for dinner. They had a pretty good crowd for a Wednesday. We ordered our meals and was served a basket (ok I got a second one!) of really wonderful garlic bread. Sadly for me that was the highlight of my meal. My daughter got the scampi and enjoyed it. My grandson got a kids meal and enjoyed it..but he enjoys everything My mother got the veal scallopini and said it was very good (I tried it and I didn't but unlike my grandson I don't like everything) Mark had the veal parm and liked it I ordered the chicken parm with Diablo sauce and it was not good in several ways. First off. I had ordered Diablo sauce and I was pretty sure that when it was brought to the table it did not have Diablo sauce but instead had regular marinela. I cut into the chicken and had a bite of that along with the homemade spaghetti and indeed, it was regular marinara sauce. . when the waitress came back. I told her it was not what I had ordered. And she said that she definitely put in for Diablo sauce, and the kitchen made a mistake. I asked for it to be remade. I, understand that mistakes happen. When my meal was brought back out to me. I was quite dismayed to see that they simply scraped off the sauce and replaced it with Diablo sauce. I am guessing that they simply rinsed off the spaghetti and did the same. I know it was the same food because I could see where I had cut into the chicken before. To me this is completely unacceptable...it should have been remade. What was worse was the taste of the Diablo sauce. I love hot and spicy food and have rarely had anything too spicy for me...but this had almost no bite...to the point where I had to have my daughter try it. She agreed with me, no heat. I could have fed it to my not quite 3 year old grandson. The manager came over and apologized and asked if I would rather have something else and I regret not saying yes and getting a steak as i knew i would not really like any of their italian entrees. However by this point everyone else was well into their dinner and didn't want to inconvenience everyone else. At the end of the meal I took home my leftovers as well as Mark's for myself. On Friday I stopped at the supermarket and bought a jar of Diablo sauce that was far better than what I was served at the restaurant. It really is a shame as I had been looking forward for some time to trying the restaurant. In fact, one of my partners was going to take me there the following weekend for a belated birthday dinner...tomorrow, in fact. Saved us a trip. (There was plenty of parking, by the way.) The tables were not super packed in the room either. Our waitress, Anaira, was awesome! She was very attentive and did not make us feel rushed. We had the mussel casino for an app. Never had the mussels version (only the clam), and they were awesome! The bread was great - definitely try the garlic bread. The homemade pasta is delicious and the seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. The rest of the party enjoyed some classics, chicken parm and bolognese. The portions are hearty. The salad and bread are always a hit. The service is always great. This is a great place to impress a date, enjoy a casual dinner at the bar, or have a family meal. I really wanted to like this place. I've passed by this sign for years and it's been on my bucket list forever. So when a family member recommended it, we showed up on a Saturday at 6 pm with 7 people and hoped for the best. They do not take reservations under 10 people so we ended up waiting for about 40 minutes for a table. It's been recently updated with some pretty artwork on the walls. However, the area where we were seated had air conditioning on FULL blast which was really uncomfortable. For the most part, every one seemed to like their orders. The complimentary bread loaf was really good but the complimentary garlic bread was outstanding. Portions were large enough that most everyone took a doggie bag home. I ordered mussels in spicy red sauce but was disappointed in my dish. I have to admit the mussels were plump...but somehow lacking in flavor. My spicy marinara sauce was actually just their house red sauce. It tasted quite plain and as you can see in the picture, it had nothing in its texture to indicate any additions to add flavor. I probably would have asked to have them remake my meal but I was starving and didn't want to wait for another 30 minutes since the restaurant was so full.
