Decided to try this pizzeria that recently opened. Dough was very dry. Would not recommend. Not good at all.

Had a plain pie last night. Unfortunately it is not as good as the original. It is still my favorite pie in the USA and I've had them al over. The taste is close but the building of the pie needs to be looked at. Bring Mr or Mrs Bruni in for a few hours for a refresher course please. read more

Great thin-crust pizza-You cannot go wrong with Bruni's. This place has been around since 1956--Tried and true. It's a 60 minute round trip to get pizza from Bruni's-and worth the trip every time. Even with the ACE tolls. 20 min drive to Bruni's. 20 min to eat it in the the parking lot. 20 min drive home. If we get there before 6- we hit Bagliani's for the ravioli. Enjoy !!!!!!!!! read more

I'm Italian so have a super high standard for pizza. If Yelp would let me, I'd give a 3.5 star. There was nothing special about the dough (I like a crispier wood fired oven dough) or sauce, but the toppings were tasty. We got two large pies - one with sausage, pepperoni and green pepper, another buffalo chicken. At first our group made comments about the protein being super shredded and fine, but I think it worked out to have it so finely spread so every bite got some sausage or chicken. But the worst part was that the crust was burnt and when they boxed it a third of the pie was folded in half on itself. Never again. The worst tasting pizza ever. Hello yelpers.......Came in here on Saturday afternoon to pick up a couple of pies to bring over to the brewery to share with friend's on a beer crawl and I have to say , hands down, that this was the best pizza I ever had in south jersey....I have lived here in S. Jrz now for 30 yrs and move here from outside NYC (where they do have some of the best pizza in the world) I have to say that none of us had a complaint about the pizza....I am going to make a trip up to Bruni's the end of the week to pick a couple of pies and bring them home to Cape May County ... loved the sausage pizza....it was my favorite!!! read more

The pizza is really good here. You definitely taste the quality and uniqueness. I got pizza with sausage, pepperoni, and hot peppers. The flavor is perfect. Not over powered but not under. There is a sweet but tangy taste to it. The hot peppers go very well with sausage. The service is really good and the workers are super cool. I went here in 2018 and now it's 2020, and I went back. Decided to order a pie to bring to a brewery. It's been a while since I've had Bruni's but I've always heard good things. I called at 5pm and asked for the pie to be ready for 5:35. It's cash only which is fine with me. I parked across the street because I wasn't aware there was a parking lot around back. When I walked in at 5:35 the pie was ready. I brought it right down the street to the brewery and it was still hot when I arrived. In my opinion it looked great. Crust looked a little well done and was nice and thin. The sauce was a little sweet but not overly. I also enjoyed the sauce to cheese ratio. Flavor was good and this came to $15 even which I thought was more than fair. Hammonton is a great town with a lot of good restaurants, breweries, and wineries and I will be back to Bruni's for another take out order next time I'm in the area for a brewery/winery after the positive experience I had. read more

We got the thin crust which was nice and crispy, but they have thicker crust as well. The sauce might be one of freshest tasting I've had in a long time. Stopped here with my wife and 2 kids. The pizza is really good, and a bit unique if I say. I don't know if it's the sauce or the crust, but there was a uniqueness to this pizza. Solid, with a good amount of cheese and sauce (which is how it's supposed to be). Also, a solid family place. The family was around for Christmas, and you can tell that they have pride in their food and quality. It's nice to see that. Must go! read more

I'm kind of new in the area so still getting the lay of the land as far as Pizzerias are concerned. I had seen Bruni's before when going to the West End Grill (which is great I should leave a review for them). So I checked out Yelp. Excellent reviews. Ordered a sausage and green pepper pie. Picked it up. Kid behind the counter said "Best Pizza in Hammonton" with such conviction that I drove 15 minutes home with the excitement of a kitten with a ball of yarn. When I got home and took my first bite it was like that playful kitten inside me was stomped to a fine pulp by angry neo Nazis with steel toed boots. I knew from that very first bite that the dream I had built in my head on the car ride home had shattered. The crust was dry, cracked when folded, and reminded me of the box it came in. The flavor of the sauce was uninspired and the sausage and peppers were diced very finely. Exactly like the Ellios pizza I have in the freezer for emergencies. Was it the worst pizza I've had? Of course not. Was is the most disappointing considering the build up? Absolutely. I'm giving 2 stars only because maybe it was an off night. I won't be back to find out though. read more

Family friendly atmosphere, I came from out of town to try but all of the other customers dining in knew each other & knew the staff. Love seeing communities like this. It's been a long time since we've had a good pizza! My father is a Philadelphia Italian (who NEVER likes any pizza) and he even liked it, for me that's all that needs to be said. Wohoo! First to review my favorite pizza place in the whole wide world! Every few months, I have a Bruni's craving and I find myself making the 40 minute drive to my hometown. Besides family, there isn't much else that'll get me to go back to Hammonton. Well, maybe the yearly carnival beer garden but that's a whole other beast. I'll save that story for another time. Bruni's pizza is pretty much as close to perfection as a pizza can get. The sauce is slightly sweet and the cheese-to-sauce ratio is right on. The crust is thin and just crispy enough. There isn't a puddle of grease on your plate when you're finished. And while the topping list isn't anything out of the ordinary, there is enough variety for a small town pizza shop. And this place is pretty much made for a small town--they don't deliver; you either eat in (bonus: free soda refills!) or pick it up to take home and devour (eating pizza in your underwear, with a cold beer and the remote control, is always fun). Oh yeah, they only sell pizza by the whole pie. No slices here. But trust me, two people can eat an entire large pie, easy. It's not that overwhelmingly filling. You'd think I'd give Bruni's five stars* though, right? Well, the place changed owners a couple years ago and, while I'm 99.9% sure the new owners still use the old owners' recipe (sauce and possibly dough) for the pizza, I have noticed on my last couple of visits that something tastes a teensy bit different. 0.1% different. Take note: If you didn't grow up on this pizza, you most likely would not notice the change. I think it's a different cheese but I can't be certain and I haven't bothered to ask because it still tastes amazing. Plus, the niceness of the staff makes me forget about it--I totally got a free pizza yesterday (plus the one I bought) because they accidentally distributed the toppings incorrectly! Score! La la la, despite the free pizza AND my overall love for Bruni's, I still can't go with five stars. It's all because my taste buds want familiarity. And that stupid, barely noticeable cheese change, well, grrr! So help me, if they didn't switch cheeses, I will eat my words and be damned to pizza hell! It hurts my heart to not give that last lonely sparkly star but I have to be honest. Go with the gut. You know. Clearly this review has gotten my head in a tizzy so I think you should just try it for yourself. If you happen to be whizzing on down the AC Expressway toward your preferred beach this summer, make a pit stop. Exit 28! So very good, you won't be sorry. This pizza is the real deal. Everyone has their "best pizza ever" place, but nothing tops Bruni's. If there is a pizza joint out there that does it better, I'd like to know about it. This place is like the Whitehouse Subs, Geno's Steaks, or Pat's Steaks of pizza. Growing up on Bruni's absolutely spoiled me. I've lived in NYC and had some delicious pizza, but none took the top stop away from Bruni's. I've also lived in Maryland and nothing there comes remotely close to what I would consider pizza. What makes this place so great is the small time pizza shop that they really are. In a small farming town in NJ, known for great Italian food and Blueberries, this pizza shop has been doing it the same way for the 27 years I've been alive. Mr. and Mrs. Bruni were the original proprietors when the parlor opened. The Lionnetti family took over somewhere around the late 80's and carried on a great tradition and a great pizza pie. A family from Vineland recently purchased Bruni's in the last 5 years and although it is not 100% the same, it is still damnnnn good. These pizza's are so good that I bring one back to MD with me anytime I leave town. They tried expanding to Ocean City, NJ in the early 90s but the store never made it against the rough and tough competition of Mack and Manco's. I would eat Bruni's over Mack and Manco any day.... although both are delicious. Bruni's would be on my list of "Best Things I Ever Ate." Words cannot describe, but Jill A does a great job of it. I'm really sorry to deliver a bad review for Bruni's since I've heard and read so much hype from so many people that seem to love it. I went with a friend to Bruni's on Saturday evening. We walked into an empty pizza shop with four guys working behind the country. We both contemplated what we wanted before ordering a thick pepperoni and sausage with extra cheese and a thin white pizza with tomato, basil, and mozzarella. For those of you who don't know about Bruni's, their "thick" crust is not like a Sicilian pizza, but just a slightly thicker crust than their thin crust. We grabbed a table and sat down with some beverages. I was pleasantly surprised to find Birch Beer on tap even if it was Fanta brand. After about 20-25 minutes our pizzas came. Right away I could tell that the pizza was different because it didn't have the traditional risen crust around the edge. I grabbed a slice of the tomato and basil pizza and dug in. The pizza crust was a lot denser than I was used to for a thin crust. This didn't make the pizza harder to chew per se, but it wasn't what I really was looking for (this may be something that locals love and that's fine, but I'm speaking here from my opinion.) The pizza crust was also missing salt and had that "flat" taste that you taste in any baked goods that have salt omitted or when not enough is added. Another thing that kind of turned me off was the lack of a charred crust. To me this is a must-have for a good pizza (and most others will agree.) It doesn't take a brick oven to deliver a charred crust, so there's no excuse here. The thick crust was pretty much all that I've mentioned above only a thicker crust. Perhaps the yeast was inactive in this batch of dough? Perhaps my friend and I are two of the only people who aren't into this sort of crust. Regardless of my thoughts on any restaurant (so far) I will always try a second time in case of an inconsistency. I had high hopes when I saw this Pizzeria highlighted on Ch. 17 News but I am disappointed. I did try A thin crust with half sausage half pepperoni and on another day I tried a Sicilian, which was awful. It has no flavor, the sauce is very acidic and the cheese has no taste. The odd thing is the pizza looks like it's going to be fantastic when it comes out of the oven but there's no flavor. I'm amazed that there are so many good reviews.I will have to keep looking for a decent pizza in the surrounding area, but this definitely is not it. read more

When pizza is all you do, you better do it well. Bruni's does it better than well, and it can be attributed to the combination of a unique "family secret" sauce, and a flaky thin crust. Some of the other reviewers describe the crust as "crispy", but that definition is a little misleading. It's closer to flat bread and has a delicate flakiness to it that compliments the bold and slightly sweet sauce. Because the sauce and crust are the stars of the show, less cheese is needed which, as an added bonus results in a lighter, fresher, pizza devoid of the oily pools you sometimes get on an over-cheesed pizza. The sausage they use is the "crumpled" type, which I prefer over the shaved or chopped. I had slices of both plain and sausage and for the first time ever, I admitted to my wife that I preferred the plain over the sausage because the sausage detracted from the greatness of the sauce! The premises is as close to a typical generic pizza place as I can describe. They only have about 7 or 8 tables of varying sizes, but it seemed that most people were stopping in for take-out so seating wasn't a problem. It was a little warm in there, probably due to a lack of air conditioning or the large hot ovens in a relatively small place. But they did have a strong rotating fan setup that made us forget about the heat after a while. They are cash only and don't accept credit/debit cards so be sure to plan accordingly. The service was fast and friendly. The bathroom was clean. Several of the tables were a bit messy when we first stopped in, but by the time we ordered and found a clean seat someone was out in the dining room wiping down and busing tables so it didn't appear that they were dirty that long. I hope I haven't oversold my appreciation of this place or it's pizza. There really isn't anything special about it... but I think it's this simplicity that, as Da Vinci once said, "is the ultimate sophistication". read more
