My wife and I dropped in on Friday night without a reservation and were lucky enough to grab seats at the bar. We had a fantastic experience. Our bartender, Tyler, was awesome to talk to and immediately welcomed us by introducing himself and shaking our hands. On our previous visit, the other bartender did the exact same thing, which speaks volumes about your team's standard of service. The food was excellent as well. We started with the Italian sushi, followed by the wedge salad--which was both unique and delicious--and split the spicy rigatoni with chicken cutlet. The portion size was generous, and the meal was very tasty. The only thing we didn't care for was the banana cream pie. The crust was hard and was mostly whipped cream. Scarpelli is a new Italian, fusion style fine dining restaurant located in Hammonton NJ. They've been open for less than a year, but it is very trendy and hyped up on social media. It's beautifully decorated with several artificial lemon trees and vines throughout the bar and dining room. I loved the lighting fixtures and the color scheme too. They specialize in table side dishes which you can only get in the dining room, so make your reservation well in advance since this spot is hard to get into last minute. I had the spritz flight to drink with my choice of 3 of the 4 available options. I had the limoncello, calabrian, and Hugo ranked from worst to best. The flight glasses were larger than expected and these were very easy to drink without a lot of alcohol. They were good, but I've had better. My husband got a hot black tea which he enjoyed & admired the acopa teaspoon it was served with. They brought out freshly baked rolls with olive oil and these were delicious and the best part of the meal, because I felt like the overall experience was below average. For appetizers, we got a single order of the Caesar salad and the table side order of the Scallops Brûlée. The Caesar was very underdressed. The bite I had tasted like straight lettuce and parmesan, so we had to ask for extra dressing which made it better but still a bit underwhelming. It was more acidic than other Caesar dressings we've had with almost no anchovy. The table side presentation for the scallops took a bit of time, and after taking my first bite it was cold and undercooked. I had to send this back and asked for it to be finished in the kitchen. The second scallop dish was very charred and the sugar crusted topping was too much for me. For how delicate scallops are, I didn't really like how over-seasoned these were. The pea and asparagus puree helped to balance the flavors slightly but I wouldn't get this again. We noticed the manager walking around and in past experiences, usually they would stop by to make sure the second dish was to our liking. He stopped at a lot of other tables, including the one right next to us, but skipped ours several times. For entrees, my husband got the pork chop at the waitress's recommendation. I got the chicken parm which was served with a side of pasta in marinara and the chicken parm had both vodka sauce and marinara. This was one of the most under seasoned dishes I've had at a fine dining restaurant. The marinara was runny, and there was no fresh basil on top either. It's like they forgot salt completely and I've had better chicken parm's at mom & pop pizza shops. The cavatelli pasta with marinara sauce was also bland and I only had two bites. The pork chop on the other hand was flavorful and juicy, but after having one of the most incredible pork chops in Ventnor, this just wasn't that memorable in comparison. The presentation looked like it was a Mexican fajitas dish. I was expecting something more refined, and you could see all the pepper juice swimming around the mashed sweet potatoes. This was our first time here and we were celebrating a birthday but we opted out of the free dessert and sparkler since loud music and attention is the last thing my husband wants, so maybe that's why the manager didn't stop by. Who knows? They did gift us with a signed card which was a nice touch. We enjoyed the rapport from all the staff we did encounter. The waitress was very friendly and personable. The table bussers made funny jokes and were very surprised we didn't want to take home any of our half eaten entrees, but it just wasn't worth taking. read more

Wow! I understand why there is an almost 2 month waitlist to eat here. My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary here tonight and were absolutely blown away. I don't even know where to start. The atmosphere was top notch and it is beautiful inside. The service was incredible. Our server was Matt, and we would go back just to be seated in his section again. His recommendations, his service, his personality, all 10/10. We enjoyed the Caesar salad, calamari, seafood risotto, spicy rigatoni with burrata, and finished it off with the banana cream pie. We dined here for the first time Saturday 3.7.26 4:45 pm. We made these reservations back around 1.20.26. It was worth the wait. We arrived early around 4:30 and noticed there was plenty of open seating in the bar area. They start you with the most delicious, soft, chewy exterior bread bites. You can tell the plain evoo they provide to dip it is superior quality. It was very bright and fruity. Lirona was our server and provided attentive and well timed service. Food was delicious. Cocktails were well executed. We noticed management was on the floor the entire time ensuring things were going smoothly. We will definitely return. The next visit may be a light bite at the bar. The menu is a very nice size. That along with the fact that the place has gone a lil viral concerned me a little. There is nothing to worry about. This place delivers on quality service and food in a lovely, modern atmosphere. We only have one ding for our evening. I had requested a cozy two top that wasn't in the middle of the restaurant. We were seated at a two seater directly behind the glass door when you enter the dining room from the bar area. We felt subject to all traffic in the restaurant and felt a smidge smooshed. They even carted chairs past us to the bar area while we were there. I would never want to be seated there again. That was disappointing. The bartenders were a great time! The restaurant is very large and nicely decorated. Very fun pieces of art throughout. The bathroom is white Lotus themed. You'll hear the theme song playing in the background. There are many tableside options available. We opted for the table side, Caesar salad and table side scallops. Both were absolutely delicious. Wow wow wow! Came here for date night and was beyond pleased with our experience. I have to start off by saying that the service was phenomenal from start to beginning from the hostess to our server to the bartenders and the owners. (Special shout out to Annalise!) Everybody was absolutely wonderful and welcoming. The food itself was a hit after hit it was really a lot of fun to decide the path of what we were going to have and what meals would go well together. With that being said, it was also really hard to make a decision on what to get because everything looks so great! The most exciting part of the meal was the whole bite of spicy rigatoni, the chicken cutlet and Barada altogether. Also honorable mentions for the sauce that the chicken meatballs came in! We were too full for dessert, but also wanted to hang at the bar to watch one of the games. That was a great decision and we're so happy we feel like we got the full experience. The spanish lady with the glasses making it didnt even talk the entire time, she explained nothing and the energy was nothing. For months we tried to get reservations for Scarpelli's. Finally we got a reservation for 4pm sept 2 for 4 guests. We waited for around 15 minutes to be seated at a table next to the bar! Mind you just the bar was half full. No one was even in the dining room. Then when seated we were told we can't get table side that's only in the dining room. So why were we seated there. We placed our order ... appetizer of Calimari and Mexican crab cake. Calamari was cooked differently, but edible. The crab cake had corn in it and heavy on the cumin. Main meals were chicken parm and a capellini and shrimp and lobster dish. Our 2 chicken parm's were terrible. They were cooked on the outside but the inside was undercooked ! They were chewy ! The shrimp were fishy! Needless to say our meals went untouched! The server was pleasant. She asked us why hadn't we said something. I would have thought the manager who was standing by our table would have came over and asked why the food wasn't being eaten. This is an expensive restaurant. The atmosphere at Scarpelli is very inviting. We ordered the cold antipasto and fresh mozzarella. The cold antipasto was nicely served with a variety of cheeses and meats. Unfortunately, the fresh mozzarella made table side was extremely salty and wasn't a great consistency for freshly made. A lot of attention is focused on the serving of the appetizers and steaks. I think more attention should be brought to the entrees being prepared, cooked and executed appropriately. Our dinners took about 45 minutes to come after the apps. We politely asked when they would be ready. When they arrived, we realized the salmon was overcooked and the risotto dishes were all undercooked. The marinara sauce for the chicken parm lacked seasoning and was very acidic. Dinners were removed and we explained that the risotto dishes were all undercooked. The place is fully staffed and presented as it was effectively operating. I would definitely give it more time to iron out some issues before trying again. read more

It was a dark and stormy day, perfect October honestly, and we were looking to meet a friend for an afternoon bite. Having been to the previous site, Illiano's, several times - we were curious and cautious about its new incarnation. The look is modern chic, with some glamorous touches. The menu is diverse but not cumbersome, you won't be overwhelmed by the selections or disappointed by the variety. The service is prompt, attentive and patient. The plates? Well....if real estate is location, location, location - then scarpelli's is portions, portions, portions....and they are hefty. we did apps, salads, entrees, drinks and dessert (our own lil trick or treat nite out) and everything. was. exquisite. read more

A recent Saturday dinner at Scarpelli's with friends was, on balance, an enjoyable experience -- though not without a few observations worth sharing. We had reservations in the main dining room and were seated promptly. The atmosphere sets a welcoming tone immediately: the dimly lit space carries an upscale feel that I appreciated. Service was excellent throughout the evening. Our waitress was pleasant, attentive, and refreshingly honest with her recommendations -- exactly what you hope for in a dining experience at this price point. The food delivered mostly strong results. A tableside-prepared mozzarella appetizer was both delicious and entertaining -- a nice touch. The Filet Mignon was very good, accompanied by a well-executed mashed potato. The stuffed long hot peppers, however, were unremarkable and felt out of step with the rest of the menu. Now, a couple of candid observations. The restaurant celebrates a birthday with an enthusiastic song and a sparkling dessert procession -- charming the first time. By the fifth occurrence within 90 minutes, it had become a genuine distraction, and feels at odds with a restaurant positioning itself as fine dining. My more personal note concerns the dining room's focal mural, which features characters from American gangster films like The Godfather and Goodfellas. I'll admit I enjoy a mob movie as much as anyone, but as someone of 100% Italian ancestry, I found it a missed opportunity. Italian Americans have a rich and proud legacy -- Joe DiMaggio, Frank Sinatra, Enrico Fermi, Rocky Marciano -- figures who shaped this country across culture, sports and science. A mural celebrating that heritage, or even the beauty of the Amalfi Coast, would have felt more fitting. Interestingly, on my way out I noticed an old black-and-white family wedding photograph hanging near the exit -- presumably the owner's family. That single image told a more meaningful story than the mural ever could. Overall, we had a pleasant evening and enjoyed much of what Scarpelli's does well. The strong service and several standout dishes make it a place I would consider visiting again, though a few small changes could make the experience feel more consistent with the restaurant's otherwise upscale atmosphere. read more

I've heard wonderful things about Scarpelli so we scored a reservation for my birthday. We dined on a Monday and every seat was FULL. When we arrived we didn't have any wait at all. The place is absolutely beautiful. The dining area is a bit crammed. The 2 seaters in particular are extremely close together: think bench style - and you have someone sitting a foot from you. Where we were seated it was very uncomfortable with waitresses trying to SQUEEZE behind and around you and the table side dining. The music is very unusually LOUD -club style music to the point where you cannot hear the person you are with talking so absolutely everyone is yelling. Aside from that, the food is good. Not great, but good. HUGE portions. Like I mean HUGE. Food: We started off with the chicken picatta meatballs. Absolutely delicious. Cheesesteak arancini -tons of meat so you get your moneys worth if that's your vibe but virtually no rice. The meat was a bit chewy and dry but it tasted pretty good - the pepper relish was a great touch. Clams casino - we've had way way better. Entrees: My husband had the seven fish pasta.The seafood was cooked well, not rubbery or overcooked at all. It was a large plate but pretty decent but we've had way better. I ordered the risotto americano. It was just okay in my opinion. The sauce was virtually tasteless, and the entire meal just fell flat. On the plus side, if you love large dishes they definitely give you more than you can eat. I could have eaten 4 meals from that plate. (Side note: it was absolutely terrible for left overs it did not heat well. ) We ended the night with the cookie, subpar. All in all, it was just okay - pretty over hyped in my opinion. Aside from the chicken meatballs. Prices were fair considering the portions. Didn't come close to some of the other establishments we've dined at. I would definitely consider giving it another try as nothing was bad, I just wasn't impressed and after 200+ dollars I want to be impressed with more than meatballs. Side note- lots of complaints about birthday music here. I disagree, I actually liked this.
