Bjorn was great! I was locked out because the doorknob had broken, even though I had the key. Bjorn came within half an hour, let me into my apartment, and replace my old door knob with a new one. He gave me some good advice about doorknob use as well as fixing the little plates on the doorframe so that the door shut properly, free of charge. The door had never shut quite right and he fixed it so that I could use the deadbolt, which wouldn't lock before. He was also upfront and honest about his pricing. He showed up on time, was friendly, and super quick without any hassle. No damage to the lock and a reasonable price. He accepts credit cards and emails you a formal receipt which I appreciated. Wonderful experience with Maple Leaf Locksmith. I didn't even know what I was looking for when I called I just knew I needed to make the front door of our building more secure after a few break ins. He came out and diagnosed the problem in under a minute and offered a great solution that he had done successfully in another building nearby with the same problem. Had an appointment to meet Bjorn on 11-4-16 at a rental property to rekey locks. I arrived 15 minutes early so that he wouldn't have to wait if he came early. 30 minutes later he called to say he was 45 minutes away, but didn't offer an explanation for failing to call timely. He suggested a reschedule, and I asked him to email with a day and time the following week. That was 4 days ago and I haven't heard from him, so will hire another locksmith now and in the future. That moment you're at your front door and fiddle with your keys to put into your lock and realize the key isn't there because you took it off the ring earlier and forgot to hook it back on. Also, your roommate who has the only other copy happens to be out of town for the weekend. Panic. Time to yelp "locksmith", fully prepared to pay a couple hundred dollars. To my surprised the guy who answered the phone said he could likely talk me through getting in on my own. Yeah right, I thought. He nicely stayed on he line and talked me through what to do and within 5 min I was in without damage! Saved my night and lots of money. Says a lot about a business when they're willing to help you see if you can do it on your own when they could've easily come out and charged you $100. I give four stars only because he was late to the first appointment we scheduled and I had to call him to find out that he was running late with another client and he would not be able to make it that day. He committed to rescheduling to another day and ensured he would be on time. Sure enough, he was RIGHT on time for our reschedule. Changing the locks did not take long at all (somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes, I don't recall exactly). To make up for the inconvenience of last time, he gave me a discount. Called Bjorn to fix our front door deadbolt. He texted me that he'd be out 3 nights later. He came, pretended to fix it, and it broke again 5 days later. I called and texted Bjorn again, who said he did not know who I was, where I lived, and didn't recall the house or his visit just 7 days earlier. I finally helped jog his memory, and he said he'd be out on Monday at 8am to "fix" it again. I took Monday off work, but, when Monday morning came and I still hadn't heard from him by 8:40am, I called and texted Bjorn, who texted back that he was still waiting for a part. No "I'm sorry I blew you off", no "let's reschedule", nothing. That was 2 weeks ago. Either he's still "waiting for a part" or he took our money, didn't do the job correctly, set an appointment he couldn't have cared less to miss and then lied about ever coming back to make it good. Incidentally, during his only visit to our house, he couldn't stop talking about how good he was and that even though he did no marketing he was one of "Yelp's biggest success stories". Very classy, considering we had to hire a locksmith to correct his "repair". read more
