Manuels Bread Cafe is definitely a great place for breakfast/brunch! Their french toast is pretty damn good! I also recommend appetizers but it seems whenever I go the appetizers always outshine the entrees. I have made it a point to use Manuel's as a sort of tapas place, for their amazing appetizers rather than the over priced entree items. read more

Love the food, the ambience, the area, and the service. We've never had a bad experience. It's nestled in the cutest neighborhood. In fact we always enjoy ourselves so much that I always forget to take pictures. We've been for brunch and it's always delicious. Dinner and I've left craving dishes that were limited.. Not too bad. Safely located within walking distance to other areas. Food while a little pricy, It is DELICIOUS!!! Yes we will go back. I will admit they give healthy amounts of food and it best the first day. We will be back but will share appetizer and main meal. TRY IT!!! This was our first time at this popular local place! The menu was a little short, but I understand that this gives the opportunity to specialize in the dishes. I got the croissant breakfast, and wanted the egg over medium but the yolk ended up being a bit hard. The croissant was great, and the bacon was tasty. The fruit that came on the side of my breakfast was very fresh and good quality. My husband got the omelet and while it was cooked perfectly, he thought the filling was a little light. The flavor on the bread that came with his meal was fairly average, and so were the home fries. The prices for the meals are a little higher, but you need to consider the location along with the price. The vibe in this area is nice, but it looks like parking could be an issue - we came in the early morning on a weekend. Indoor and outdoor seating are available, and pets are welcome outside. read more

Get the swordfish with beurre blanc sauce if it's on the menu, you will not be disappointed! I was afraid the fish would be a thick plank but it was not.....rather it was flaky and sautéed to perfection. So good. The beef bourginone was phenomenal every piece so tender melts in your mouth. My friend ordered the steak and I never order steaks out anymore because they are never good but his STEAK WAS PHENOMENALl!!! The seasoning THE COOK everything was perfection!! I will be having a steak the next time. The cakes were spectacular. That's the only cake I want for my birthday from now on. Came here for a nice date. The inside is so warm with very soft lighting and soft French jazz. Our food was so amazing. The server was nice and gave helpful suggestions. With a very extensive wine list and a cute neighborhood, I couldn't recommend this place enough. read more

This was my second time here for brunch, and I will not be returning. Service severely lacks hospitality. The food is sorely mediocre for the prices you're paying. I also need to mention that when my daughter's French toast came out, it was clearly burnt, and the server who brought it out could tell that it was obviously burnt. They just tried to cover it up with powdered sugar. I immediately had her take it back, but it seemed that she and the kitchen staff were offended that I'd do such a thing. I watched their faces annoyingly stare at the plate when she returned it. Don't try to pass off trash and then get upset when people refuse to eat it. I ordered shrimp and grits which were ok as well as a Bloody Mary. It was made with sake but they should probably just stick to vodka or not offer it at all because it wasn't very good. You're better off going somewhere else. read more

We were visiting augusta for a job interview and unsure if we wanted to move here. Then we had dinner at Manuel's. The food is top notch and the ambiance is awesome. So many great things about this place! First off, THEY ARE OPEN EVERY DAY!!!! While it is very quaint that most restaurants in Augusta are closed 3 days a week, I'm from the big city and it is shocking to me. I love that I can go to Manuel's every day if I want. The soups are so good. It's in such a cute area. The chicken picatta is something dreams are made of. A lovely mix of casual and up-scale--a street side cafe to stop in after a bike ride when you are still in exercise gear and also fancy enough to come here on a nice date and want to get dolled up. read more

Sunday morning , my family and I decided to go to for brunch. It's a nice environment the host was kind enough to squeeze us in before another reservation came. Our server was very pleasant and nice. The food I ate was very good I had the eggs julienne, which is just and eggs benedict with salmon and French toast. The eggs julienne had a great taste and was very balanced in flavor, it meshed well with the home fries. The French toast was kind of disappointing cause I was so small and they charge $9.95 for two pieces of toast. I think it should be a lot cheaper than that. My husband had the goat cheese scramble, he said it was not seasoned well, it just taste like plain eggs and goat cheese. My father in law had no complaints with his food. I would go back for lunch and dinner when I have the chance. read more

Our party of 4 had the best experience. Pork belly and duck wings Tapas was PERFECT for sharing with the table. My husband had the whole fried flounder which was both beautifully presented and very delicious. I had the Salmon Salad which was a large perfectly grilled Salmon on top of greens with an amazing dressing. Chocolate Crème brûlée was one of our desserts and it was fabulous. Food was mediocre, price would be good if dishes were executed properly. Two omelets delivered to the table with raw/cold filling included bacon. Fruit on the side was hot, we assume from being under a heat lamp. When someone doesn't eat 90% of their meal and talks about ordering another meal - the waitress should have asked if everything was okay. Nothing... Not overly impressed with ambiance or service. Mediocre and disappointed was the theme today. Also the $12 desserts were good but don't compare to other locations in town. read more

A first timer here, it's a nice casual restaurant with plenty of outside seating. The food was very good and fresh, the pork wings were also tasty. The accompanying sauce takes them to another level. I had the chicken pancatta which was juicy and well breaded. The steak was excellent just needed a lil' more salt and pepper for me. The only drawback with outside spaces is that someone can literally park their vehicle next to your table. It's also pet friendly which coincides with the neighborhood where located. Overall very good experience and will be back. read more

Me and a friend tried Manuel's Bread Cafe for the first time yesterday and it was such a treat!! We only went in for dessert but we wished we had gone for lunch! We had the cake trio which was so delicious!! We tried to Grasshopper, Sweet and Salty, and the Oreo cake and let me tell you it was spectacular! The presentation was amazing and the staff was so welcoming! We also had coffee I had the Cafe Latte and my friend had the cappuccino and both were delicious! The atmosphere of Manuel's is so sweet, it feels like a little restaurant on a Parisian street. I cannot wait to go back and try their dinner or lunch!! read more

The brunch food is to die for! I'm not sure if this still stands but the bottomless mimosas used to be the same price as just one mimosa during brunch ($11). We BOTH got our steaks grilled perfect! I was extremely impressed. I jokingly told the waitress they mush have a boxer working in the back, tenderizing the meat because the steaks were so tender I rarely used the knife. The steaks was incredible, just the right amount of searing, juicy, seasoned just right, and so flavorful. And get this, we received our steaks at the same time, right off the grill so our dishes were both hot. It had been such a long time since I had enjoyed a meal this much. My reservation of going again has absolutely nothing to do with this restaurant. Cost of living is getting high and the cost of a great dinner like at the Annapolitan will cost you. But if you want something special, it is worth it.

She came back to let me know the manager was "busy" and couldn't come to see me. Having spent 30 years in food/beverage, I was NEVER too busy to meet with a disgruntled customer. I'll stick with Polo's or Montagues in the future.

TLDR: Waited over an hr for subpar food. The waitress over promised and under delivered meaning she never brought us anything except for the menu and the drinks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I waited a few days before posting this because I wanted to let the annoyance simmer off, but I come back here with still very similar feelings of huge disappointment from this restaurant. Unfortunately, also had pretty high hopes of how great this place would be. It was Memorial day so I suppose it was a bit busy, but seems like they shouldn't have had two new waitresses on the floor on a busy holiday or if so they should have taken more care to make sure they weren't floundering....because well the one we got was. It started out fine. We were seated at our reserved time. Menus were given. We even had our small dog with us and the waitress offered a doggie bone. When she came back, she took our full order because we were hungry and in bit of a rush. Our water and tea had come. I was going to order an alcoholic beverage and she brought over an ipad. It seemed like she'd never come back so I just gave up on the drink and put the ipad aside. I wasn't even sure if I was supposed to order on there...or if she was going to take my order. It had been about 30 minutes and I had gone to take out my Invisalign because I was expecting the food to arrive soon... Well the waitress came by and said "sorry the kitchen's backed up, they hadn't gotten to our order yet..." Well the Invisalign went back in and we waited. She asked the other person at the table if she needed a refill. She offered and again...never showed up with the refill, nor the dog bone, nor the drink order. We had also asked for some bread and she said she could bring some because at that point like 45mins of waiting we were pretty hungry! But as the story goes, no bread either and this was the last that we saw of her. We could actually see her standing behind the counter staring at the order screen. Eventually, the table next to us (who actually were seated a lot later after we came in had gotten their burgers and fries). They realized this and even offered us some of their food. When this happened the hostess came over and asked what we had ordered. We ordered the crab cake salad, and the beet salad. A cup of their potatoes and asparagus soup and some of the aioli fries. We then got it pretty quickly. It was obvious it was quickly thrown together. I had this weird piece of deflated old lettuce on my plate and there were literally about four bites of salad on the plate.... I was expecting the salad to be on a bed of lettuce. The crab cake was pretty decent but nothing to write home about. I'd have actually preferred more lettuce since the crab cake was so fried. The potato and asparagus soup was funky. The person I was with said it tasted like it had licorice in it but to me it tasted sour and something was off with it. Perhaps spoiled milk or something? IDK. It was not good. And to say something is not good when you're starving and hadn't eaten for 14hrs since this was my first meal of the day is pretty bad.. The fries came out later, but only with ketchup. We weren't going to ask for the aioli because we'd probably never see it. I'll say the fries were yummy. We did ask if they didn't come with aioli and the waitress, this was another new one said you have to order it specifically...even though that's what we ordered on the menu. I don't think she knew. I could tell it was her first day since she didn't even know where the bathroom really was when I asked her about it. But I think she was really sweet and nice about it. I can't say the same thing about our actual waitress. She didn't come to see us after she had said the food was late. It would have been nice for her to at least come by and apologize but it seemed like she was hiding from us. The hostess apologized on her behalf but also told us to forgive her because it was her first day on a busy day. It would have meant more had it come from the actual waitress. It was honestly just a little annoying as a paying customer asking us to forgive her. I think what happened was she never put the order in and that's how come we didn't get our food till over an hour later....after a different customer had to bring it to their table's attention. And we watched a few people that were behind us leave before us... The hostess took off a little of the bill, but it really the food was crap, the service was crap. I'm not coming back and they didn't do that great of a job trying to reconcile the poor service. The other new waitress (not our original) had asked if my dog needed water which was kind, but like it was a little late at the point since we were leaving. She also brought the dog bones the other waitress had mentioned when we first arrived. I was sad it wasn't as good as I hoped. I probably won't be back. read more

As someone who lives in the area, I am thrilled to have Manuel's in our community. I love taking my early morning walks and seeing the fresh baked bed, just from the oven, out cooling. The food is outstanding with many different specials all the time. They even have a large garden where they grow their own veggies... how cool is that. In addition to great food, atmosphere, creativity, and being very accommodating.... the cafe and its owner are very community-driven offering educational ops for school groups and donating to just about ever charity there is. I have been at events promoting the arts in Augusta and North Augusta and been thrilled that Manuel's was supplying the food. For my family, friends, and neighbors, Manuel's has become not only a great place to eat... but a valuable community resource. Keep up the great work read more

Tried their Sunday brunch for the first time, ordering shrimp and grits, plus clam chowder. The chowder was quite different from other clam chowders I've had, but still quite tasty. However, I still prefer the shrimp and grits at Southbound Smokehouse to Manuel's. In addition, I really think they should have removed the tails from the shrimp before putting them in the dish, since there's just no delicate way to do it at the table without using your fingers --- a bit messy! My husband and I enjoy this great venue on a regular basis. Our favorite seats are at the bar where we can see everything happening. The restaurant is perfect for intimate dinners. I have taken clients to both dinner and lunch and find the menu well rounded and pleasing for a wide group of tastes. Always very accommodating. Very disappointing! I had Sunday brunch with my family. I had the "Ham"-mond Ferry, which is a fried egg in artisan bread with a bechamel sauce with Canadian bacon & fresh fruit. I noticed online that you can make a reservation for a $20 fee that gets deducted from your check. At first I was a little surprised, but after seeing how busy this place is, it makes total sense. We decided to roll the dice without a reservation anyway. When we arrived on a Saturday morning there were already several people waiting outside. There isn't really an indoor waiting area, so the hospitable hostess took my name and phone number and kindly asked us to wait outside. Later I noticed the sign explaining the process. She quoted us a 40-minute wait, but thankfully we were seated in about half that time. Inside, the restaurant is quaint and cozy with a classic diner feel complete with counter seating and booths. The ambiance is casual and welcoming. If you have a larger party, there are a couple of outdoor tables that appear to accommodate around six people, but personally I think this spot is best enjoyed with a smaller group. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving smoothly despite the busy brunch crowd. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles while I went with the Garden City breakfast bowl loaded with veggies and home fries plus a salmon croquette on the side. Every single thing tasted homemade and full of flavor. This is what Southern comfort food is supposed to taste like. My husband said the chicken was seasoned well and fried perfectly, and the waffle paired with it beautifully. My breakfast bowl reminded me of the kind of breakfast my grandma used to make, comforting, flavorful, and cooked with care. Portion sizes were just right, enough to leave satisfied without feeling miserable afterward. Prices were also very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. Stellar customer service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere. If I ever find myself back in Augusta, this will absolutely be one of my repeat stops.
