What a lovely experience we had as we enjoyed dinner here. Customer service from the time we arrived was impeccable. The graham mallard cocktail was excellent. It was balanced, and the ingredients came together so nicely. It was really smooth. The second cocktail we tried was a spin on a negroni; however, instead of gin, it was cognac. This cocktail was pretty good, but if you do not like campari you will not like this cocktail. Bread is available upon request, and on our evening it was a sourdough served. It was pretty good. The crawfish deviled eggs were definitely distinctive. The creole mustard is very forward; with that note in mind, it was savory and tasty. For our second course, my husband had the braised short rib, and he said it was delicious and tender. He also complimented the brussels sprouts. I enjoyed the steak frites. The new york strip was a thick cut and so tender. It was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. That literally was the most flavorful steak I've had out in some time. The broccolini rested on the flavors of the steak and was delicious. The truffle fries were like a thick-cut wedge fries with the perfect crisp. Those fries were amazing as well. We tried the orzo macaroni and cheese. The orzo put a different spin on the macaroni and cheese dish, but it was cheesy and pretty good. The experience was so amazing here and truly made our night out a worthwhile evening. The ambiance was very pleasant and mild. The menu is rotating, and reservations can be made on their website.

Came here for a coworkers birthday dinner and it happened tp be restaurant Week. Reservations are highly recommended and parking may be hard to find somewhere give yourself plenty of time. Service was excellent, server was well vwrsed on the menu and had wonderful wine suggestions. It was a very busy night because of restaurant Week, but the food cane out in a reasonable amount of time amd was cooked as ordered. The 3 course meal was well worth the price and I will be coming back.

Unfortunately we did not love our experience here. We came here for a date night and a couple things were just misses. The appetizers were definitely our least favorite part, while they were visually appealing the charcuterie board was all meat, and the cheese board was a separate item to order ($17 each) which I found odd, I think it would have been more appealing to combine the 2 into one board and eliminate some of the extras like the excessive walnuts. The croquettes were fried perfectly, but honestly lacked flavor. I was surprised because the mashed potatoes with my entree were absolutely excellent, but the ones in the croquette were very bland. My steak was unfortunately not cooked correctly, but It wasn't bad to the point where I needed to send it back, I would still say that it was very tasty and I overall enjoyed the entree. I always order crème brûlée if it is on the menu, so we got that for dessert and I enjoyed that as well, but I think the custard curdled a bit. Our wine selection however was incredible, they have a lengthy list of options. Overall, it wasn't my favorite restaurant for a nice date night, but maybe would be better suited for a drinks only date.

Came here for brunch and sat outside, the outside area is so cute and the service was very nice! The food was also very good, highly recommend going for brunch and sharing a mimosa flight with friends. I have no complaints asides from some of the prices being a bit high for what the food is.

After not seeing family for over two years, we were hoping to have a leisurely and pleasurable dining experience here. The restaurant was empty when we walked in. I had made reservations days before. The host led us to a table in a corner away from the windows. My view was the kitchen and no it was not an "open" kitchen concept. None of the servers knew anything about the menu. Example - "Are the shrimp local?" - response: "I don't know." Our primary server seemed uncomfortable with her role. She was quiet, stern faced and not particularly friendly. The menu really didn't serve its purpose as information on prep or technique was glaringly missing. Along with drinks, we started our culinary evening by ordering an appetizer of escargot - with cremini mushrooms, garlic and butter. The dish was unremarkable and none of the diners were eager to finish the serving as small as it was. We were enjoying our conversation and having a good time. In the meantime our server kept hovering as if to pressure us to order our entrees. Much to her chagrin, we decided to order a couple more starters - French onion soup and shrimp cocktail. As we finished with our requests the server left and then came back almost immediately. She proceeded to tell us " the chef doesn't like it when he gets requests for dishes at different times. So if you want more appetizers you need to order them." Seriously, WHAT? Are you kidding? At this point I was mortified and apologized to my dining partners. I've never been asked to do this in a restaurant. The unusually small overcooked shrimp arrived luke warm with a mayo based sauce. It was a pathetic version of the classic. The whole point of this dish is to have well chilled extra large or jumbo sized shrimp that deliver a snap when you take a bite. This delivered nothing but regret. The soup was OK. The menu was ho hum, so after hearing that prime rib was one of the specials for the evening, everyone at the table decided that beef was the choice for dinner. The first diner ordered and requested medium rare. The server responded "it will have to be closer to medium medium well. Excuse me? This was the beginning of dinner service, and those were our only choices? Obviously, someone in the kitchen screwed up. What an unfortunate error to make with such a treasured cut of meat. The one star was issued to the kitchen for splitting one of the meals for us as the serving size was so big. Unfortunately when our plates arrived, they didn't look pretty. No effort or finesses was put into the presentation. It looked like something that came off a buffet. To add insult to injury, the prime rib was dry, the mashed potatoes blah and the broccolini tasteless. Nothing on these plates was prepared with care or love. This was the antithesis of a French dining experience. And no, we will never return.

This is one of Columbia's best brunch spot over the years. The menu changes but those beloved potatoes I was looking today for no craving we're not the same. Hopefully this was something that could not be controlled as those crispy potatoes were the best in the city. Now that I've gotten that off my chest ! Today's French onion soup was the best I've ever tasted. The pumpkin soup was unique and tasty a dish I've only had a few times. (Hampton Street is in my top 5 Brunch spots. )

Food: 5 Customer Service: 5 Ambience: 5 Location: 5 Parking: 4 Cleanliness: 5 Reservations: yes, highly recommended This restaurant is situated in the heart of Columbia, SC downtown area, and I would highly recommend it to all. This restaurant does not have a parking lot, but there is a parking garage and street parking nearby. The decor is very pleasant, relaxing, and modern. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we arrived for our reservation. We was quickly shown to our table and our waiter was very courtesy and professional. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. There is plenty of spacing between tables and it appears that the restaurant was enforcing customer spacing. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouthwatering starters and main courses that will appeal to everyone. My spouse and I truly enjoyed everything we ordered from the menu, from their drinks, appetizers, and main entrees. Their portions are plentiful and everything tasted amazing. Excellent dining experience and I'm sure that we will be back in near future!!!

I was in the mood for a great Ribeye steak, and wanted to try something besides my favorite place. I've had good food here before, and when I saw Steak Frites on their menu I thought I would give it a try. I will also admit that I ordered the Escargot appetizer. First the Escargot. In case you don't know, they are fancy french snails. Oh, my goodness they were decadent and delicious. Swimming in an illegal amount of butter, I'm a little saddened that they forgot to bring me bread. I did ACTUALLY ask for bread, for once, but alas it never came. One thing I do appreciate, is that bread is served upon request, so they aren't wasting food on serving bread to people who aren't going to eat it. Now, another nice thing about these Escargot was that they were served without the shell. They were placed delicately on top of a perfectly sized mushroom cap with crispy bread crumbs in a garlic butter and herb sauce. Now, these Escargot were cooked perfectly, they tender and flavorful, not chewy at all. Their earthy flavor paired perfectly with their mushroom besties. So, take my advise and definitely try these out. I think they are about $14, they are definitely worth it for something that you just don't see very often on a menu - anywhere, but especially in Columbia, SC. Now, on the Steak Frites. I like my Ribeye medium. I want the center to be a nice dark red without being raw. I find that medium gives me a tender texture that is a pleasure for me to chew. The red wine sauce was nice, flavorful and it was made even better when topped with some fresh cracked pepper. The Frites were twice fried , lightly breaded french-fries that had great crunch. It even came with a small salad of arugula very lightly dressed with a light vinaigrette that perfectly cut the fat of the well marbled Ribeye. I'm definitely rating this Ribeye as far superior to Hall's Chophouse and Ruth Chris, and it's actually pretty affordable. I think the plate was somewhere around $38 and you got sides! It was also a very decent portion, I ended up taking some of my steak home with me to eat for lunch the next day. Well, so I gave this meal 4/5 because well, they did forget my bread and I had planned to soak up some of that yummy butter sauce. I'm finishing this review off and will edit it on my phone so I can upload some pictures of my delicious meal.

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!

In addition, my waitress was nice, but I would've liked it if she was a tad more attentive. Although I didn't drink on this occasion, I've been to Publico in the past, and I will say that their margaritas are much better than comparable Mexican places. So, perhaps if you're looking for a Mexican place that has good drinks rather than great food, Publico seems like a nice option. As for the ambiance, it was a cool place. It was dimly lit, and they had TVs all over the back wall where you could watch the day's sporting events. The bar looked like it had a cool vibe as well, and they have a back patio that's perfect for outside dining. I had a few options, but ultimately landed on Gervais and Vine and made a reservation. On the recommendation of our server, we started with a bottle of In Sheep's Clothing and got to ordering. I had already scoured the menu before coming in so I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted. I love that it's smaller portions so you can order different dishes and try a bunch all at once. We started with the baked brie which I think had an apricot spread plus some fruit and bread. Then we did the petit filet mignon, pork with gorgonzola cream sauce, spicy shrimp gambas, and the seared jumbo scallops. This may sound like too much for two people and you would be right but it was so delicious. I highly recommend everything we had. If I had to choose some standouts, the shrimp were phenomenal and I'm still thinking about them. The biggest surprise was the pork. It was a good size portion in comparison and the cream sauce was so good. Honestly, if you followed this order to a T or any variation of it, you can't go wrong. We weren't rushed in any way so in lieu of dessert we took our time finishing that bottle of wine. While there were some other menu items that jumped out at me, I would absolutely come back and order the exact same thing again. This was one of my favorite meals this year.

Our first experience was outstanding and we will return...OFTEN! For starters, our server was a professional. She is working on her 3rd level certification as a sommelier so it was truly a pleasure talking wine and food with her. Her recommendations were spot on all night long. Next, the menu is the most creative in Columbia. This restaurant is more Charleston-like or big city like with its menu options. Our biggest challenge of the night was deciding what to order. My wife ordered the Gnudi with brisket and is still talking about it. I rolled the dice and decided to try the squid ink pasta with lobster as a test, and I can honestly say they got an A++. I've eaten squid ink pasta in some of the best restaurants in New York, Boston and other major cities, and this was the BEST I have ever eaten. I almost didn't write this review because I selfishly don't want to have to fight for a reservation when this place gets busier, but I DO want it to flourish. Columbia needs more restaurants like City Grit. My only suggestion for them is to offer Valet parking because I had to park so far away that I was sweating by the time I walked all the way back to the restaurant after dropping off my wife.Otherwise, this is a fantastic dinner experience!!!

However, I decided to give Craft and Draft another shot, and I'm definitely glad that I did. Unbeknownst to me, they were holding "trivia night" on the night that I went, which drew a pretty large and lively crowd. While I think that the inside volume was turned up a little too high, it did serve to loosen everybody up, as I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the other patrons, who were all very kind and sociable. I also got to check out the back patio for the first time, which was fun, but not quite as notable as some of the other taproom patios that I've been to. In addition, despite the fact that they had heaters on the patio, they didn't seem to be emanating much heat, as it remained pretty cold outside. What I did like was the fact that there was a pizza truck outside, which was making wood-fired pizzas on the spot, and which looked great! (I didn't have one myself, but everybody I asked told me that they tasted great as well.) As for the beers... they were pretty solid! On draft, I got one of the Burial IPAs, which was 8% ACV, and tasted pretty good as well! My friend said that the beer that they got out of the refrigerator was good as well, and that they had a lot of beers that they had never seen or heard of before. As for me, I noticed that they had one canned beer that was 9.5% ACV, which I had never seen before either! The two (2) bartenders working that night were really cool, knew their beers, and definitely made me and my friend feel welcomed. All-in-all, Craft and Draft was a pretty fun taproom, which *might* be a little better in the warmer months versus the cooler ones. Despite this, I'd still recommend stopping by to grab some unique brews, and enjoy the lively but not overly hectic atmosphere.
