Craft and Draft was pretty good, and definitely exceeded my expectations this time around. For context, I had come here once before, and left somewhat unimpressed with the experience that I had. However, I decided to give Craft and Draft another shot, and I'm definitely glad that I did. Unbeknownst to me, they were holding "trivia night" on the night that I went, which drew a pretty large and lively crowd. While I think that the inside volume was turned up a little too high, it did serve to loosen everybody up, as I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the other patrons, who were all very kind and sociable. I also got to check out the back patio for the first time, which was fun, but not quite as notable as some of the other taproom patios that I've been to. In addition, despite the fact that they had heaters on the patio, they didn't seem to be emanating much heat, as it remained pretty cold outside. What I did like was the fact that there was a pizza truck outside, which was making wood-fired pizzas on the spot, and which looked great! (I didn't have one myself, but everybody I asked told me that they tasted great as well.) As for the beers... they were pretty solid! On draft, I got one of the Burial IPAs, which was 8% ACV, and tasted pretty good as well! My friend said that the beer that they got out of the refrigerator was good as well, and that they had a lot of beers that they had never seen or heard of before. As for me, I noticed that they had one canned beer that was 9.5% ACV, which I had never seen before either! The two (2) bartenders working that night were really cool, knew their beers, and definitely made me and my friend feel welcomed. All-in-all, Craft and Draft was a pretty fun taproom, which *might* be a little better in the warmer months versus the cooler ones. Despite this, I'd still recommend stopping by to grab some unique brews, and enjoy the lively but not overly hectic atmosphere. read more

I had been through here a few times to pick up some craft beers for both a soiree in the neighborhood and to take home, but it had been some time (the day of the 2020 SC Democratic primary, to be exact). Well we were around the corner and I told sweetie let me search for a new local beer I heard some good things about. Well, they didn't have that beer, but, they did have their outdoor space open. And the day was so nice, and people in there were in good spirits, pun not intended, so I figured yeah lets check it out. And it was mad chill. A lot more Black folks than I had ever seen. And social distancing was being enforced, though primarily inside. Sweetie got a sweetish sour beer (ideal for her name, LOL) and I got a tasty hazy IPA. Both were perfect for the very spring evening. We stayed for about an hour, splitting a coffee stout near the end. Oh, they also had eats on hand (soba noodles to be exact) but we did not partake. I'm assuming it's a regular thing as with other beer gardens. I've always liked the vibe here and I'm glad that the backspace is open and accommodating. Craft and Draft is exactly as it sounds it's a place that has a draft bar with 12 rotating taps, and they have a pretty decent stock of rare craft beer to choose from. The vibe is very mellow and chill. Great place to sit down and enjoy a pint or come to grab some Miller beer on the go. I have to say the selection here is very A+. Tons of rare releases and even stuff I've personally never seen. Also when I came in I noticed that everything on tap was also really rare and I didn't see anything I've had before. During times of crisis the men and women of Craft and Draft fight to keep all of its thirsty customers well supplied everyday. Food vendors can also be found offering to go foods. Wow! Couldn't be more impressed with this place. They have a huge selection of mostly local beers and the staff really knows their stuff! Very cool hangout spot for Columbia. There's not much to really describe here: It's a room. There are bottles for purchase, about 12 taps (great, unique choices from around the country), fridges, and plenty of TVs. Oh, and dogs. This is a great place to hang out with dogs. I am obsessed with a certain North Carolina beer that doesn't (yet?) distribute to Florida, so any time I'm in the general vicinity I check Untappd to see where I can find it. When I came through Columbia, Untappd let me down, but the relatives I was staying with called up their friends at Craft and Draft and sure enough, my beer was there! We headed in on a brisk pre-tropical storm Monday and I was pleasantly surprised to see the barstools full of day drinkers, whom we quickly joined to try the various beers on tap, including one from my home state of Ohio! Nothing quite struck my fancy, but my husband and relatives grabbed drafts while I piled up as many six-packs of my beer as I could find (including a can to drink on-site). The bar was a great place to chat with new friends while we watched coverage of the incoming hurricane and some form of sportsball on their TVs. Also great was the selection of bottles on the shelves and in the fridge, although I'll admit I passed up more than one tasty-looking six pack in favor of my current obsession. If I had been so inclined, I could have built my own six pack of a variety of beers, which is a thing I greatly appreciate in a beer store, but again, obsession. I've been wanting to come here for a while. Luckily I had to visit a business across the street. Then I couldn't resist coming on in. The place is really cool. I liked the bar area, and the places around the windows where everyone was drinking their favorite beverage. I wanted to get my husband a good variety of beer for his birthday. I had no problems getting helped even though they were extremely busy. The guy that helped me was really knowledgable. It was obvious he knew about all the beers they carried. I ended up buying a 6 pack plus 2 extra. One of the bottles I got was peanut butter. I can't wait for my husband to try that one, so I can get a taste. But for a draft place to charge you $2.50 for a sample is crazy. The entire point is to find new beer you like. Now to my bigger issue- dogs????!? The place is set up like a bar with a few coolers for bottled beers you can pick out. But people can bring their dogs inside and roam freely around. Its horrible. The dog smelled so bad. I didnt even finish my beer before we had to leave bc the smell was so bad. The dogs shouldnt be allowed inside its still a bar serving drinks to people and yet wet dog smell. I cant. I wont even go back there. Maybe it wont be for you. Maybe you love the smell of wet dog while you drink a craft IPA. MAYBE the smell or barking will create an ambiance that fills the air similar to the taste of your IPA and ll will be right in the world....mayyyybe. read more

Lots of issues. Selection is not better than Green's downtown and not even 30% of what Piney Grove has (though they have Swamp Cabbage, which was just released). Service is ok and atmosphere is nothing special. Prices are high and, worst of all, the "pint" glasses appear not to be pint glasses. They are like 75% or 80% of a pint glass. Finally, the newfangled checkout system allows you to pick a tip percentage but it applies it to everything you've purchased, including six packs or whatever merch you've purchased. You can drink and walk around the store looking at the great selection of craft and high gravity beers they have to offer. The staff was friendly and answered any questions we had. I loved this place! I am mad at myself for not coming here sooner. I love craft beer and this place is a dream come true for all of us craft beer lovers. They have about 12 craft beers on tap that rotate frequently. Most are from local places. I was so happy and surprised to see that they had a Louisville, KY beer from Against The Grain on tap. That's my hometown and I love that brewery, so that earned them some extra points in my book. I ended up sticking with local SC beer and tried the River Rat Honey Biscuit Ale. It was a solid choice, especially for a chilly fall day. I would definitely recommend! The atmosphere was laid-back. The crowd was a little older, this is not a college bar. I enjoyed checking out the cans and bottles of craft beer they had in the store area. This is also a great place to pick up an issue of the local Columbia Fig magazine, which I love. My first experience with C&D was during a visit home during college . I was looking for that years Sierra Nevada Bigfoot and decided to check out the new bottle shop in Shandon. When I arrived I was shocked at the wide selection, but couldn't find the Bigfoot. Andrew (co-owner) was there and began calling around to other stores to find who had any in stock. He was successful and told me where to go. That says something. Since moving back to the area C&D has become a staple for good craft beer in an inviting atmosphere. 12 taps, with the lists available on Untappd, always gives you something new or something great to try. They also do a lot of great things for the community by hosting events, supporting running races, and raising money for charities. read more
