Lovely cafe, spacious and good for a bit of study or work cuz it stays open til 10. I needed to study a bit for a work training so I hate when I'm in my zone and then this coffee place closes and we all have to pack up and scramble out. Anyway, I sat by a very friendly caressing plant until the 2 guys on their tinder date left the couch. There were no outlets at some of the other spots so I waited out and side eye the couch spot. A minute after I sat down, a lovely couple tried to squeeze the vintage wooden booth that looked like it was built before the civil war. Cute tho but tiny. I told them they were fine to join me so they could sit in the comfy chairs! And that I didn't mind. So they were grateful to join my spot back here in the last room. I don't need to bogart the whole corner so I was happy also that they came over. Food is good here and everyone nice and helped me carry my order so I didn't spill my beloved matcha latte!
A very cute coffee/bottle shop. The barista was very welcoming. They have a solid selection of sours which are my favorite. You can do singles or BYO 4 pack. I stopped in for an iced latte with their homemade vanilla and banana syrups. Yum. I also go their bacon burrito. Food options are limited and it's not much to look at, but it was delicious and a good size for me. A little pricey coffee. 5.50 base is great but $1 for almond milk and $1 for flavor feels a little steep to me but hey! It's homemade so it's a labor of love. There's a good bit of seating for the size and I love that I can work at the high counter top or at a table. Definitely recommend!
How has it been another 2 years since I last reviewed? I still come here all the time, because this place is just a vibe all around. My absolutely favorite seasonal item thus far are the ube lattes - specifically the macadamia nut one. Overall, they have the best seasonal items and now they've introduced burritos to their menu, which is a great food gap to fill - not to mention, they're so good. I always get the chicken chorizo. The baristas are all great - so nice and helpful. I still have yet to come for cocktails but have heard so many great things! Thanks for being so consistent, Hobbyist!

Their Vanilla Flat White was smooth & creamy and the cheddar scone was the perfect treat to accompany it. Great prices especially for the area too! The baristas were kind and there's plenty of indoor/outdoor seating so perfect for getting some work done or just hanging out for a while to catch up with friends. They also serve wine!
Love exploring my new home and glad that this spot is very close! Came here on Saturday around 7pm for a first date and it was the perfect spot! Great ambiance, service, and plenty of menu and seating options! This place extends further back than you would expect. There are a few seats upfront, a great bottle selection in the middle, and more seating further back, plus a few outdoor spots available. We opted for cocktails the first round- men and their old fashioned ha! And I got the classic espresso martini. Next round we enjoyed a glass of bubbles- very fun glassware (see pics), just adds to the experience/environment. I will definitely be back for more tasty libations and maybe just a quick cup of joe on the way to work! @azfitfoodfun
Visiting my sister in Charlotte and she took us to the Hobbyist! Such a cool vintage looking coffee shop with alc beverages and food. Tons of ample seating at the bar as well as comfy leather couches. The people there were super kind and helpful with explaining some of the flavors. Would deff come again.
one of the best coffee spots in charlotte! i got the brown butter rosemary latte (hot) and my friend got the black walnut latte which has recently become her go-to. vibes are great - love the amount and various types of seating from couches to bar seating to regular tables. love that they also sell wine - huge selection and well-curated in my opinion.
Their coffee is good! I can't remember which latte I had, I think it was lavender, but it was nice and I love foam art so that gave me all the reason to return. They had some cookies by the register and I'm glad I grabbed one for later because it was super good! I think it was a lemon raspberry cookie made by a local company.

Delicious hot and iced latte, delicious breakfast burrito, fantastic music playlist, and great customer service. Lots of different options for seating as well as some outdoor seating. This is a very cute café with a lot to offer. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and the space is large enough for people to do personal work and socialize at tables and the coffee bar. The spot also has a small wine section to browse which is a popular feature I've noticed throughout Charlotte. I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and it perfectly hit the spot. I love when the café's I go to offer coffee's which genuinely taste like coffee and do what they're intended to do--wake you the F up. We didn't linger here long but the whole vibe was very friendly and it definitely gave the impression of being a popular spot for locals. This is officially one of my new favorite coffee spots when I come through Charlotte.
Great place in the Noda area for a quick coffee stop! It also has a wide collection of local brews and wine, so if you are a person who enjoys these, definitely check it out! The staff are friendly and helpful! Would recommend to visit at least once.
This was my first time back here in years. I thoroughly enjoyed it this visit. I came by with a friend to catch up over coffee, it was late in the day so I decided to get their decaf lavender latte. It was as beautiful as it was delicious. I also ordered a topo chico. We sat outside on this gorgeous day, until it got too chilly and we moved inside. Their inside area is super cute with funky seating and long couch type chairs. This was super fun and comfortable. It's shared sitting style so there were some folks sitting nearby that we didn't know and it was so intimate you couldn't even tell. There was a really great musician playing the guitar and singing live. They were doing an amazing job with various genres and music selections. It really helped to create a ice vibe. We stayed here for like 3 hours. It was a great time!
My favorite coffee shop walking distance from noda. The latte and cappuccino are always incredible and perfect place to relax or work for a few hours.
Had some time to kill, so I searched for coffee shops near me and saw The Hobbyist had great reviews. There are a few tables outside and the inside decor is super cute. But it does appear to be SUPER popular, so finding a table was impossible lol. There were a few open, single seats at the bar but we ending up squeezing in the middle of a large couch area, where groups were on either side of us. The two gentlemen who helped me were both very friendly. I had planned to get a latte but saw they have a $3 mimosa or Prosecco special on Sunday, so I said "Absolutely" haha. I ordered two mimosas, light on the juice, and they were great. My friend had a vanilla latte and it wasn't her favorite, but since I didn't taste it, I'm only rating my experience. And I will definitely be back for their Sunday special! read more
I have been really wanting to try this space as they have wine as well! Parking was very limited as the coffee shop shares a building with multiple other tenants making it hard to find a parking spot with all the action in the area. Prior to going here I looked up their menu on their website and IG trying to decide what I wanted to order. I decided on the ube vanilla latte but they did not have that on their menu as it's on the fall menu that drops in a week or so from now. I felt like there was quite a bit of false advertising going on. However, I did order a vanilla latte and it was really good! It tasted like a vanilla ice cream cone! read more
The Hobbyist is such a cute cafe! My boyfriend and I wanted to enjoy some coffee while getting some work done, and we stumbled upon this spot. It has such a calm vibe with plenty of seating inside and some outdoors as well. I loved that they offer seasonal drinks alongside their classics and food options. We opted for a cortado, a vanilla lavender matcha, and a chicken chorizo breakfast burrito. Everything tasted delicious and was served fast. We sat for around an hour working on our laptops and weren't interrupted. There were people chatting as well, so it's a great space to do both. I absolutely loved the fact that you can get other drinks too, since they have a large selection of wines and seltzers. Everyone we talked with was super sweet--I can't wait to visit again! read more

Delicious Chai Latte and Black Walnut Latte. Not too sweet, just right. We also had a slice of vegan banana chocolate chip bread, tasty! Order at the bar - they served part of the order to the table and part was called out and had to be picked up at the counter. We noticed a bunch of people with their laptops so it looks like a popular place to sit and work while enjoying a drink or snack. read more
I love this place so much. I've visited here multiple times over the years when I've come to visit my sis, but I'm here for a bit now, and I've loved the service, ambiance, and taste of my drinks and food (yummy pastries) whenever I come here. So, this is def my go-to place for mimosas and getting some work done, particularly on the weekends. It's awesome that (at least currently) they have a deal of $3 mimosas on Sundays. Will keep me coming on Sundays, because I def only came back on Sunday because I was there Saturday (will make this my weekend place if they keep this up). Plus their coffee is so yummy and worth stopping by for on the weekdays. You can work on what you need to and grab a coffee or something, and no one will bother you other than to check if you need anything once in a while. Make this your go-to work place if you are more of a nomad like I am currently! Great coffee and pastries and reliable wifi! Also, the service has been nothing but great. Every person I've dealt with has been nothing but kind, and honestly, a lot of them go a little over the top of what they have to. Many times they bring my drink directly to me even though they could just call my drink order from the bar. And they have a very fair proportion of sparkling wine to orange juice at this place. My number one irritation with mimosas is when they are mostly orange juice, and this place is not like that at all. You will get a fair proportion of wine and orange juice in your mimosa that makes this place worth coming back to again and again. For ambiance, it's mostly pretty quiet, which is great for working. When it's at its busiest, it can get a little louder, but I always bring my Bose quiet comfort headphones in when that happens. It honestly only seems to happen during the busiest times that you can see on Google (e.g., today on a Sunday, it's been busiest from about 2:30 PM to currently 4:42 PM), but I've had a grand time still, particularly with my headphones. But even when I don't wear my headphones, you can always sit closer to the back where people usually don't sit. It's much quieter there. Overall, such a lovely place to get some work done or read, get some coffee or mimosas, and just chill with a relaxed feeling that you're so very welcome here. Come and stop by! read more
I love coming here to work! They play great music, there's coffee, wine/beer, and they have live music on certain nights. They also sell wine and have have other beverages in a friegue to talk. There is also merch. The staff is always helpful and great with recommendations. The atmosphere is calming. There is indoor and outdoor seating. read more
This cafe was not busy, though it had an interesting industrial ambiance. The pastry selection was small, and my partially warmed danish was fine but didn't impress. Neither did my chai, which didn't hit any particularly noticeable flavor note. They had some more creative seasonal drinks, so maybe I missed out, but what I ordered out of a smallish selection was just okay and I wondered if I could have done better. read more

My first time going to The Hobbyist and my first time trying Matcha. Both experiences were great! The customer service at The Hobbyist is really good and the ambiance is great too, this is a really good spot to come do some work. The matcha was good, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. read more

Absolutely adore this place - it's always a treat to visit! Ambiance is great, service is friendly, and I've enjoyed everything I've tried. On more recent trips I've ordered their espresso and espresso martinis! It's fun to get a drink and shop around. They have a great selection of beer and wine to go, a selection of coffee, and other trinkets like mugs, snacks... there are a lot of options here. It does tend to be busy during the day time with people working or hanging out in groups. It's always worth it to squeeze in and find a spot. I wish we had more spots like this in Charlotte! read more

My very first time here i was just looking for a nice place to sit and drink some cappuccino. Boy did i find it! The place is so chill the pastries i was recommended was so tasty (I even ordered some to go). I loved everything about this place especially the outside sitting area. read more
Didn't get the warm and fuzzies, like I heard it would be. They treated me like I'd been there before and a bit like they didn't understand why I was asking certain questions. Overall the coffee was really good but unfortunately there is no hazelnut syrup here. The alternative black walnut is great! I ordered a vanilla iced latte, and ordered a black walnut iced coffee for a Doctor next door at Ivy Rehab. The vibe here is really nice, but depending on who your barista is, you may feel less inclined to inquire about newbie questions. By the way straws, and napkins are at the door. Didn't eat here, but would return. I love coffee and theirs was tasty while visiting NoDa. read more
Coffee was 5 stars, but the scone I ordered bumped it down. I got the black walnut latte with macadamia milk and it was lovely. Would order again any day. The berry scone on the other hand... looked amazing, but dry as a bone. Skip the pastries and just get coffee here! read more
Cute atmosphere, friendly baristas, & an amazing caramel brûlée latte...what more could you ask for? Oh & they sell beer & wine. This lovely coffee & bottle shop is really nice. I love the "hideaway" in the back of the shop. However I think others love it, too! You gotta be quick to snag a spot back there. My caramel brûlée was ready quickly. It tasted so good, I didn't want to be done with it. And the latte art...perfect! They have several coffee & tea options to choose from. Prices are reasonable. This café is cozy and perfect for hanging out with friends. The atmosphere is nice and makes you feel comfortable. You can come here to work or just chat with friends. On Fridays, they have live music which adds to the fun. I recommend trying their Irish coffee--it's delicious! Their chocolate muffins are also really good. Another tasty option is the black walnut latte. It's a unique flavor that you might enjoy. They also have a good selection of craft beers and wines. So whether you're into coffee or alcohol, they have something for everyone. read more

One of the more "Hip" coffee places I've had the pleasure of visiting. Everything in this place screams we take our coffee and drinks very seriously. I literally watched them weigh each part of my iced latte, from the cup with ice to milk to the shot of espresso; quite impressive. And with all that effort, my coffee was top notch, just the right balance of coffee bitterness and creamy whole milk. They also have a huge selection of wine and beer, and good sampling of options on tap. This place is definitely an upscale, yet relaxing spot to have a coffee or a drink, whether you're trying to get some work done or just meeting a friend. I'll definitely be back! read more

Nice, quite to place to enjoy some coffee and do some studying or reading. I come to this little plaza it's in quite often since there's also two other restaurants I love to visit. It's clean, friendly, and they can make a mean matcha. Although, we did also order a cronut and it wasn't very good. Got it heated up but came out kinda tough, like it wasn't fresh. Not a big deal but I probably wouldn't order pastries from there anymore, but will definitely be back for the matcha/lattes read more
Most underrated coffee shop in Charlotte. I might be bias because this place is in our neighborhood. Went there on a Friday night, there was live Jazz music and tons of drink options. If there is nothing on tap for you, you can choose from plenty of bottles and cans in their bottle shop. Everything was 10/10 and we are definitely back for their $3 mimosas on Sundays. read more
