Was visiting family during Memorial Day weekend, and we met up with a friend in town at this lovely Turkish Cafe in the university area of Charlotte, NC. Loved the vibe and the decor. It's a very happening spot for young and old, families and friends, people looking to work, and others just there to chill and relax. The line was out the door for the duration of my time there, but do not let that deter you. They have ample space to handle the crowd and it's well staffed with people constantly walking around helping and answering questions. Service is fast and everyone is so nice. They have a variety of seating arrangements which makes it great for large or small groups. This may sound like a lot is going on, and it is...but at the same time it's very relaxing and chill. You place your order at the counter and I'm telling you, they have a great variety to choose from. My party shared some chicken flatbread, a Caprese style appetizer(not its name), and sweet potato cheesecake. Whe all enjoyed some coffee made to order for our liking. We even ordered some pistachio and dubai chocolate desserts to go. Everything was superb! We sat and talked for hours and just soaked in the environment. This is my "GO-TO" spot whenever I'm entertaining out of town guests or just a meetup with local friends. I've been for morning coffee when it's not as busy and late at night weekends during it's busiest times. Finding a parking space is challenging, especially on weekends. But once you step inside Vavela's you forget all about that because the vibe catches you instantly. The music, upbeat yet relaxing, transports you to another place and time. As soon as the doors open it's impressive! Seating is welcoming and abundant, be it at a table, on sofas or a grouping of comfortable chairs. When you walk up to the counter to order they have all of their drinks and deserts chilling and on display. And there are a lot of them! I don't know if they are made from scratch or premade, but I've had about 6 different kinds and each one was better than the next. All delicious! On my last visit we got our coffees, shared chicken flatbread, a tomatoe/cheese appetizer and sweet potato cheesecake and EVERYTHING was delicious!!!! They always have a lot of servers and they bring your order to your table. Because it stays busy I notice they have to constantly be on top of cleaning the tables and floors and often people will grab a seat before the staff has a chance to clean the area. But they overall do a good job staying on top of it. Vavala is a total gem. I had an internal battle over getting dessert, so I went with the Chicken Avocado Panini instead it was absolutely outstanding! My husband, however, has no self-control, so he got the Chocolate Strawberry Croissant lol. Both were 10/10. Even the matcha was so aesthetic and delicious! I know some people mention the prices, but honestly, it's spot on. I'd much rather pay for high-quality food and a gorgeous atmosphere than spend the same amount on something mediocre elsewhere. However, I got a slice of sweet potato pie and tiramisu to go and it was outstanding!! Delicious in every way. I shared it with my husband and we both loved it. Fourth time here and it keeps delivering. Came on a Tuesday afternoon with a friend and it was the perfect low key visit -- not too busy, and we grabbed a 4-top table right when we walked in. The setup is worth mentioning for first timers -- it's seat yourself with a mix of social couches, working tables, and grouped seating. Very versatile depending on what you're coming in for. I've worked out of here a few times too and the free WiFi makes it easy. One heads up though -- outlets are pretty limited depending on where you sit, so if you're coming to work, get there early and choose your seat wisely. On to the good stuff. My friend ordered the Pistachio Matcha Latte and it was really tasty -- I took a sip and can confirm. We also tried the tiramisu Turkish delight, which had an interesting flavor but great texture. I'd try the pistachio or a fruit flavor next time. Seemed well made overall. I got my usual -- the strawberry banana Frappuccino with oat milk. Amazing, as always. My friend and I did go back and forth on whether it contained coffee since it's labeled as a Frappuccino, but we asked a worker and confirmed there's zero coffee or caffeine in it. We visited Vavela on a Friday night after dinner for a quick dessert. I loved the setup in here, their seating and decor was just beautiful. I think there's something to be said about having a late night hangout spot which isn't alcohol focused. I really loved this place, their vibes were awesome. We found ourselves in a strange situation. We come to this coffee shop very often and genuinely love the desserts here, especially the caramel cheesecake and the potato pie. However, I had a very confusing experience today. I ordered a small drink for my girlfriend and a large one for myself. Here's a little quiz for you: which one would you guess is the small drink and which one is the large? You would probably assume the green matcha is the large one -- but no, that was the small drink, while the latte was supposed to be the large. When I received the drinks, I politely asked, "Excuse me, which size are these?" I was told they were both small. Then they brought out the "large" cup -- and it turned out to be exactly the same size. What I do not understand is why I was being treated as if I could not clearly see that the cups were literally identical. I understand if the amount of liquid differs slightly, but when the cups themselves are visibly the same size, what exactly was the point of paying extra for a "large" drink? It is not about the money. I simply do not like being made to feel foolish. We have probably visited this place around 30 times, and honestly, this experience may have been the last one for us. We also ordered the tuna panini, and unfortunately it was just okay. There was too much onion and very little tuna. Other paninis here have definitely been much better. read more

I've been wanting to try this new Turkish coffee shop out as they have created quite the buzz in town. So I decided to stop by. This space doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you step in you're transported to a Turkish coffee shop. The decor is stunning! Beautiful earthy tones, cute sitting areas, I mean whoever designed this place did an amazing job! The staff were patient and polite. I ordered a egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a crossaint, creme brulé cheesecake, Nutella cheesecake, pistachio iced latte and a mango peach refresher. My total came up to about $36, so not cheap! Everything was roughly around $7 per item. The crossaint was served with pickles and chips, which was interesting. The crossaint sandwich was buttery warm and flaky, the cheese was delightful and added a richness to the breakfast sandwich. Really good! This chips were nice and crunchy. The refresher was just that, packed with fruity flavor a bit sweet but very refreshing! The pistachio iced latte was really good as well, it didn't taste artificial at all. It was not too sweet and packed a strong coffee flavor which I typically don't like, but I'm also not a coffee person so my judgment may not be fair. We saved our desserts for later and both cheesecakes were yummy. Again, not too sweet but very balanced in flavor. I'd be interested in coming back to try more items! read more

It would serve the establishment well to implement a proper check-in system, rather than the current setup where guests are left fighting for a table while servers are unsure who to seat and who to turn away. If they can resolve their chaotic seating and train their servers better, this is a fantastic place to grab a bite of their interestingly delicious Middle Eastern desserts and drinks. I stumbled upon this place on my lunch break while visiting another establishment in the shopping center. I made a mental note to check it out next day and whew am I glad I did! Soon as you walk in the decor just greets you like a warm hug from a long lost auntie. It's absolutely beautiful and stunning! So cozy and comforting. I head to the cashier while having to pass by some yummy desserts and said to myself I'm definitely getting one of these! I order a chicken salad sandwich and a peach mango refresher and head to my table. Didn't take long for the food to arrive. The sandwich was served on a nice toasted bun and that peach refresher was singing in my mouth with its bubbly deliciousness. After I ate my lunch I went back to order the caramel butter cake and a latte and I asked them to warm the cake up. Let me tell you, that cake was everything! Delicious, soft and moist. A worker stopped by my table to ask how I was enjoying everything and I said everything was amazing. He let me know they had only been open a week. Clearly word has already gotten out because the place was packed mid day. Perfect spot to go for lunch, or just to sit and unwind with a nice cup of coffee and a book or your laptop.
