a bar with a lot of alcohol
Jade W.

I thought I dined here in the past and was mistaken. The place was bigger than I expected. I don't know, but for some reason it gave me Cheers vibes. It's dim lighting seem like a laid back spot to go if you don't want to be in a crowd but want to gather with friends, have a drink, or grab a bite. I ordered the cheese sticks. I am on a personal quest to find the perfect cheese stick! These wasn't quite the perfect ones but they were not the worst ones I have come across on my quest. The breading actually had a little flavor and they came out warmer than warm but not hot. In addition, I also ordered the chicken tenders and fries. They were good! The chickens tenders are small and fried well. I wish they gave more on a plate. They do give a plate full of fries which are not bad and actually pretty tasty. The cocktails are made well. Customer service is pretty good too. Overall, not a bad dive bar.

Pterodactyl wings

Some of the best wings in Columbia! Pterodactyl sauce is a must try! Casual environment.

Garlic butter wings

Great wings, great service, nice clean atmosphere. Will come back. Server was very nice and quick to serve order and take drinks. Pool table and darts on the side if you don't feel like sitting.

Roast beef sandwich!

Still one of my go to wing joints. My favorite sauce is the spicy teriyaki with medium sauce on the side. Order the raw fries a little on the crispy side! The Grilled Jerk Chicken Sandwich is not bad either. They have a good beer selection and offer cold glasses. Parking: There's street parking and a private lot behind the building.

Say Yes to the Dry Rub Wings!

Wings are great, salads are always fresh, homemade Bleu cheese dressing is perfect. Of course, a decent selection of beers.

The drinks were blended very well and used fresh lime juice, which was nice. The appetizers -- the kimchi fries and the boneless wings were pretty standard. The fries were crunchy, but we felt like there was more cheese than there was kimchi and sauce, so we've had better kimchi fries elsewhere. The cheese was very gooey though. The boneless wings weren't as crunchy as they could have been, especially coming out in a stone dish, but the garlic soy sauce was still pretty good. Our mains were really good -- the japchae, which I ordered with fried tofu, had the right texture and flavor, and was delicious yet spicy. The tofu was a little bland though. My partner enjoyed the squid and pork belly dish and said that the sauce was similar to the japchae sauce. The portions were pretty normal and not too big, so we had a few leftovers but not too many. The prices were also pretty reasonable as well. Overall we were really happy with our food here and would come back if we ever visited again.

I guess this place is a local hidden gem. There were so many options even the kids loved their food. If you're in the market for Korean fusion and great service then this is the spot. Friendly staff, cute vibes and delicious food- literally everything was a hit for our party of 5.

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!

Pawleys Front Porch is a dive bar, and has been featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We arrived about 15 minutes after they opened, and were the first to arrive. Even after us being in the restaurant for an hour, only two other parties arrived to dine. It honestly felt like a ghost town, and hope that it is not like this every day. Their fried pickles are actually pretty good! They are crispy, hot, and have a good dill taste (good pickles). The chicken tenders are good! They aren't frozen, are crispy, and have good taste. The burger was supposed to come with a pretzel bun, but apparently they haven't had a pretzel bun in three years lol. Why is it still on the menu? We don't know. His burger was a bit overcooked and toppings weren't quite as high quality as last time. Our server was wonderful, and constantly came around to refill our drinks and get us anything we need. It did take a bit of a long time for our food to come out, but that's alright. As long as the food is good we don't mind. We hope to see the restaurant return back to how good it used to be!

We waited an hour or more because they said there was only one cook. We got our burgers (ordered medium) and they were completely overcooked. I wondered if mine was even beef. I stabbed the meat with my plastic knife and lifted the whole rock solid patty puck. Cocktail was decent and they stock Fever Tree ginger beer so stay with the cocktails.

When the British Bulldog calls itself a "pub", I feel like it's one of the very few places that takes that moniker to heart. Even though it's located in somewhat of a strip-mall setting, once you walk inside the building, you're amazed by the authenticity of the inside. Personally, I loved the brick and wood that made up the interior, which gave the restaurant the realistic "pub" vibe that I mentioned earlier. Furthermore, I loved the framed, and hanging, soccer flags, which was a marked contrast to the professional and college sports paraphernalia at your typical American sports bar. I walked in kind of late, and just sat at the bar, which still made for a great experience. Even though it's an English restaurant, they still had a lot of the popular local and domestic beers, to go along with the more English-themed beverages. I asked if they had any "sours", and the bartender was kind enough to offer me a sample of the two (2) sours that they had on tap, and let me choose the one I liked the most. The aforementioned bartender was great, and I overheard him offering some folks from out-of-town with recommendations for nearby late-night spots and high-quality local joints. Finally, my simple order of chicken tenders and fries was pretty good, and I thoroughly enjoyed their steak-cut "chips," or French Fries. All-in-all, I waited too long to try out the British Bulldog, which was a great pub experience that definitely lived up to my high expectations. I'll definitely be coming back soon, and in turn, would recommend it to anybody else!
