    Buffalo Chicken Pizza

Thankful for another trip around the sun and this year instead of heading out of the country I celebrated in SC with family. The only downside about my born day is the close proximity to Valentine's day. Which can sometimes make the planning around the commercialized love day tricky... especially when it comes to restaurant reservations.... Womp womp. Backstreets Grill said they could accommodate a party of 8. They were clearly busy and with our party size we could understand. Nonetheless, we had a very loonnngggg wait, which was frustrating and deflating. We waited 4x the time the young ladies initially told us upon arrival. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, once we were finally seated things started to turn around slightly. I say slightly because we were seated on the enclosed patio, with a portable heater but several people were cold. Just to think they kept asking us and others if we wanted to sit outside. (It's February @ night).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now the food: Some of the dishes were more favorable than others and I must admit all of my personal choices were great. Appetizers: -Mussels - White Wine (My Order) -Fried Oysters (I tried) -Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna -Lump Crab Dip (I tried) -Tomato Parmesan Soup (My Order) -Side House & Caesar Salads (I tried) I personally had the Mussels, which were perfect, and the tomato parmesan soup and both made you want to lick the bowl. The broths were so good. I tried the fried oysters, they were also very good, but the presentation was a little messy. The Lump Crab Dip and the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna completely fell short and were not memorable at all and both of the side salads were sad. Entrées: -Cajun Chicken Pasta w/ Blackened Shrimp (My order) -Buffalo Chicken Pizza (I tried) -House-made Meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes & vegetables -Pork-chop w/ mashed potatoes & green beans -Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla w/ Fries -Ribeye w/ Truffle Parmesan Fries My sister and I both ordered the Cajun Chicken pasta, I added the blackened shrimp to my order, we were both extremely happy. The dish was not spicy but it was well balanced. The recipients of the Meatloaf, Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the Quesadilla were all also pleased with their dishes. The folks that ordered the ribeye and the two pork-chops were not impressed... the dishes were just ok. Our server Adrian, was pleasant, but you can tell he was very overwhelmed which sometimes didn't translate well. As the night went on we understood he was being pulled in multiple directions at once and he did good despite of it. Overall I enjoyed my celebration and experience @ Backstreets Grill. Just A Note: I notice that they can get busy so be ready to wait. Even smaller parties were forced to stretch their patience.

Chicken Salad in a bread bowl, baked with cheese.

We stopped in, and you should too. After a bit of a slow start due to their staffing issues, our waitress was personable and attentive. The menu has great choices that I haven't seen elsewhere. I ordered chicken salad in a bread bowl, and it was really delicious. The bowl is topped with cheese and popped in the over, so it arrives hot. The bread bowl had a wonderfully crispy crust and tender inside, and the chicken salad was warm and tasty. I've had soup bread bowls, but not hot and crispy, and of course, not chicken salad. The sides menu is a long list; I chose onion rings. They were plentiful, crunchy, and very flavorful - as far from the heavily breaded limp onion rings most places serve as you could get. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We ate in the late afternoon, but the place still had several parties like us. We liked the vibe, casually upscale, and unpretentious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Go!

We had 8 members from our lunch group here today for lunch. Great service...waitress set up a high table for eight and took our drinks quickly. We had three orders for the Madarin Chicken Salad, two pizzas, a prime rib sandwich, a hamburger, and a chicken wrap. Also had a side order of the truffle parmesan fries. The fries were great and everyone liked them. The Mandarin Chicken Salad was also very good, loaded with mandarin oranges, crisp lettuce, nuts and tons of other goodies. The salad dressing was fabulous. All three of us liked it. Pizzas were great and so was the hamburger and wrap. All in all it was one of our top rated lunches this year. We rate everything on a 10 scale so it ended up with a 9.25 average...so half to give it a 5 based on the Yelp 5 star system.

Went for lunch on Father's Day. It was busy but not overwhelming. It was just my son and I so we had a very little wait time to be seated. Food was good as usual. Went with the burgers and wings. I wish the wings would have came out sooner than the burgers but not a huge deal. My son loved the Mac n cheese I tried it and was good. Creamy and cheesy! Burgers were cooked to perfect temp as requested. Our waitress I believe her name was Katie was very attentive and checked on us frequently. Would recommend.

We for lunch meeting, food and service were great! Want to go back since there was some interesting options I wasn't able to try this time. We started with the loaded nachos and they were a hit, they did not skimp on the meat or the cheese, each chip had a topping. The wraps were on the lighter side could have had more filling, but tasted good. The fries were basic not a fav, but the onion rings were awesome. The chicken pot pie soup was delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating along with a full bar inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The peanut butter pie was delicious, it was very tasty!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]So thankful for a covered dog friendly patio on a chilly and rainy day![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The host was so nice to our pup, he immediately brought her out a bowl of water and a cup of whipped cream with treats! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the patio, I would sit out there even if we hadn't brought our dog. The patio is covered, has heaters for when it's cool out and on a Saturday all of the TVs were playing college football.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The steak is incredible here and the main reason we came for dinner. Portion sizes are amazing, you get two sides plus a soup or salad with the sirloin. The steak was perfectly cooked and I really liked both the chicken florentine and beef chili soup options. Plenty of free street parking. This place will be on a regular rotation while I'm in Columbia!

I have learned since moving to South Carolina that there are very few dining options available on a Sunday for brunch. If you do find anything, be prepared to wait excessively. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Today we drove to Columbia, and as usual massive crowds upon entering.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What was different what was how it was handled. One staff member took our drink order while our server was tied up. She was adorable, her name was Tamara.. Our server , Jacob, was so sweet and apologized for making us wait. He made great suggestions on entrees especially the Cajun pasta. It was amazing with a spicy sauce., blackened chicken and asparagus. They know how to deal with massive crowds and also make sure quality and service don't suffer. Really impressive. Should you go? Absolutely...

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came in on a Friday night, not too crowded and easily grabbed a seat at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bartender was great and attentive. Started with the mussels, not great, but good. Large portion and only one was closed. Then got the crab cake sandwich, again, good but not great. Though I didn't have a bad experience at all, I was expected the food to be better.

Came here for a social with my gym members. Service was nice and the food was actually quite delicious. Multiple different seating areas to fit anyone's liking. The drinks are also amazing and I definitely see myself coming back to visit again to try the pizza next time.

Lump Crab Cake Sandwich w/Truffle Parmesan Fries

Our group had chicken tenders, big burger, and the crab cake sandwich, all with the truffle parm fries and mostly enjoyed everything. Personally, I thought the crab cake sandwich was good-not great, but the fries weren't good. They were soggy, drenched in too much truffle oil and the cheese didn't taste like parm to me. But, Natalie's takeout customer service was excellent!

    Plenty of comfortable seating
    Cheryl H.

We came for a late lunch after reading about their onion rings. Our timing was perfect because most people had left so we had a very comfortable booth. Music was not overly loud We both had club sandwich and onion rings Because one order was big enough to share. Our server, Alex, was outstanding and took good care of us. We have found a new favorite restaurant!

    What's the parking like?

There's some rear parking, along the side (like enough for 4 cars), street parking of course with a small walk depending on distance, but they do provide valet.

I feel like good seafood spots in Columbia are limited, and I didn't want to try somewhere new and end up disappointed, so I stuck with what I knew. The food here is usually pretty consistent. I also hadn't been to this specific location in at least a year, When we entered the foyer, we were immediately met with a strange smell--honestly, it smelled like sewage. At first, I thought it was just me, but other customers who came in behind us and were waiting on their orders noticed it too, and we actually talked about it. Once you walked into the dining area, the smell was gone, which was a bit of a relief. Still, the smell of sewage is never appealing, especially in a place that serves food. Anyway, we got our boil bags and left. Overall, the food was just okay. My main complaint was the size of the crab legs--they were very small and barely had any meat. I wanted two clusters and a half-pound of shrimp, but unfortunately that particular option is no longer on the menu, which made it more expensive to customize than ordering one of the preset boil bags. Let's just say it wasn't worth it. My family got the sausage and shrimp bags those had a better quantity of food. The shrimp were good, but I was very disappointed with the crab legs. I probably won't be back, mainly because what I paid didn't really measure up to the food I received. That said, the staff was nice.

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!
