Food was good and the service was excellent. Overall great experience at Tombo, would definitely recommend to a friend if they were in the area and would return. Appetizers were good too, just didn't take any pictures of them.

    Mocktail with ginger beer.

This is a favorite after work spot for me and my girlfriends. Since one doesn't drink alcohol, I decided to get a mocktail. I wish I would have asked the server for a new drink because it was bitter even after a shot of pineapple juice. The ginger beer was strong and overall the drink was bad (hence 4 star). But the salad was delicious with enough dressing and the shrimp cooked just right. It's always chilly in the restaurant so bring a sweater. Service is always a perfect 10 and it's close to other places to run errands and walk off the food!

    Moscow Mule, delicious.

Still consistent 5 stars. Saturday night 2/3/24 reservations for 6:30pm. Arrived at 6:15 and were seated at a 2 person table promptly. Water by the hostess who seated us was received quickly also. Mary our server did great took our drink orders and and started us with the Burrata Arancini appetizer.....which we split and it was very delicious. Wish I had gotten a picture! Wife got the scallops and I finally tried the Braised Short Rib. Wife chose the scallops over the farm raised salmon, and the scallops are always perfect she reports. The short rib as very tender and delicious. (See pictures) 2 glasses of very good Pino Noir and 2 glasses of Steel Hands Coffee Lagers made for an excellent meal and delightful dining.

The food was fantastic. I got the mediterranean salad with shrimp and my boyfriend got the grilled ribeye special and we both cleared our plates. I thought the salad was very light and a perfect portion. I would definitely go back. Good for a more casual dinner.

Yes! Crab cakes back on the menu at Tombo Grille!

Our server was amazing! I was not a huge fan of the crab cakes. It was more breading than lump crab meat. The vibe was nice. It's dimly lit and the menu has daily specials which I enjoy! Definitely a gem in forest acres.

Always a favorite when we come to town. Fresh local ingredients. The menu is small so each dish is done well. We almost chose somewhere else tonight and I'm so glad we didn't as this was one of the best meals we've had here! Fresh heirloom tomato salad on a bed of arugula with feta and a balsamic drizzle. Mahi Mahi special with a lovely couscous and the best salmon ever.

Grouper, risotto ...this is a special... delicious

Tombos is Hawaiian for tuna! This is an amazing place. So it's in the corner of a tiny stripmall in the Forest acres region and you might normally miss this place simply driving by . There are a few seats outside, a small 8-10 seat bar and plenty of tables with local works of art all available for purchase.. The menu is small but has many quality options For instance it has 3 salads, 5 or so appetizers etc. They also have pizza options, along with a main course regulars and often nightly specials The brussel sprout appetizer is amazing.... perfectly grilled and not overly oily and the side sauce..."ranch-but-not-ranch" sauce is super tasty. Do not miss this ! Also if they have the fried green tomatoes with lobster salad ( it's a seasonal item).... amazing! Light fry, perfect width of tomato and the best fried green tomato I have ever had! For entree's I often get the salmon entree which is always reliable and tasty. The steak is always delicious also. The menu has plenty of craft beers... mainly local ones, good wine options and great cocktails. (Down and Dirty martini is perfect...cold.smooth ,blue cheese stuffed olives and almost too good) Never is there a problem with a cocktail in regards to how it is made or they will re-make it! If you are thinking about getting dessert the Derby pie is always good and the coffee is EXCELLENT!!! ( Don't miss the coffee!) Staff is terrific....all are knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The parking lot can be challenging at times as many of the other businesses use this space. We will definitely go back as this is one of my favorites in Columbia!

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!

Because the location was right around the corner from the hotel, we opted to give it a try. The restaurant is on a nice block, with quite a few dining options. Metered parking is available on the block. Its also not far from a beautiful recently renevated park that we also visited that night. We were immediately seated when we arrived. The restaurant is beautiful. I love how colorful it is with the plush velvet like seating. Had didn't visit the restroom while there, but my sister said it could use some cleaning. Our server was nice. I ordered the lamb chop meal, which came with two sides. I selected the mac & cheese with the collard greens. I was told both were popular. The lamb itself was seasoned well. The sauce they include for it on the side was horrible. It had a overpowering vinegar taste. I hated it! The mac & cheese was basic and I didn't care for all of the parsley packed on top. I was told 5 cheeses are used in their mac recipe but I couldn't tell. It had no real flavor. The greens were just okay. It was supposed to have spices in it from what I was told but I had to dump a cup of hot sauce in it for the spice and flavor. One of my sisters ordered salmon. She said the seasoning used on the salmon was really good but she also said you can tell its not fresh salmon; more like frozen pack salmon. Honestly, we were not impressed by the food but the great customer service, gorgeous ambiance, and music selection made our experience.

My husband decided we should test it out today, so we ended up grabbing the food as we had a couple plans for today. My husband ordered the Reuben Sandwich. It came with Truffle Parmesan Fries. He stated the taste was very flavorful, the meat was tender, and he fell in love with the truffle fries. They didn't stand a chance! Now here comes the funny part:) I told him I wanted the Black Bean Burger without the lettuce and tomato, but instead he ordered me just the patty with cheese and mayo with no buns! Instead of him asking the correct way, he asked for it as just the patty only, haha I was too tickled to be mad. Even though he missed it, it was so good! That was the best black bean patty I had in a long time. It was well-prepared and delicious. Yes, I also have the Truffle Parmesan Fries and they tasted amazing. Hot, seasoned to perfection and irresistible! Once I saw the salmon, I had to try it. Omg, that salmon was prepared perfectly, juicy and mouth-watering. The food was on point I must say. Hubby stated customer service was amazing as well. The restaurant was well lit, had a great atmosphere and overall a great spot to dine with your friends. When I got the tres leche pancakes I very disappointed there was no taste of tres leche anywhere on those pancakes , all I could taste was regular plain pancakes with syrup , it does come with plantains those were pretty good . I had thought that maybe they would put some tres leche in between the pancakes themselves. But no they were very dry. In addition, my waitress was nice, but I would've liked it if she was a tad more attentive. Although I didn't drink on this occasion, I've been to Publico in the past, and I will say that their margaritas are much better than comparable Mexican places. So, perhaps if you're looking for a Mexican place that has good drinks rather than great food, Publico seems like a nice option. As for the ambiance, it was a cool place. It was dimly lit, and they had TVs all over the back wall where you could watch the day's sporting events. The bar looked like it had a cool vibe as well, and they have a back patio that's perfect for outside dining. All-in-all, I'd probably go back and recommend Publico for drinks and ambiance, but would likely head elsewhere if I'm looking for great Mexican food.
