I went 2 weeks in a row, the first weekend was for my birthday brunch and the second was for a friend's birthday. Let's start with my birthday weekend- I made a reservation and was sat promptly for my birthday brunch. The restaurant had music playing and the decor was nice. It took awhile for the server to come to the table and take our order. Once placed we didn't see her again. My party flagged down whoever was passing at the time for assistance. Once the food came out, it was COLD. I don't recall how long it took to come out, but by the time it did, I just ate it. It was well seasoned though. The DJ was the best part of the entire day and the reason why I gave 2 stars. I even went and gave him props. My friend's birthday weekend- I swore that I wouldn't return back, but I went the following weekend to celebrate a friend and it was a repeat of service and food. My friends ordered a hookah and it took almost 2 hours for them to get it. I work in the service industry and understand that at times it gets busy, but 2 weeks in a row with the same service, I can assure you I'll never step foot in that establishment again. read more

Went for a Sunday brunch. This was my first time and like they say, first impressions are everything! With that being said, I probably won't return here. The food was ok, the hookah was ok, the mimosas were ok. The whole experience would've been just an ok experience if the service weren't so terrible. The entire service staff seemed as if they were called to serve jury duty instead of coming to work. Our server was very curt with her service, cutting off our questions with her answers and visibly showing her annoyance with us ordering. I'm not a stickler for customer service as I've been in the food service industry myself, but my goodness my whole party just felt unwelcome and frankly turned off. At one point we were trying to wave her down to order for a good 10 minutes, during which she was eating food, playing with her phone and even looking dead at us waving her down and walking away. It was comical! We still left a tip because we're nice people, but the service was really giving NO TIP! I thought I reviewed this place on my first visit, however, I see that was not the case. Parking is not too bad although it appears to be at first glance. You must have your ID on you which they check at the door. Seating is interesting and there may be a wait but they have reservations available via Yelp otherwise I suggest to arrive early. The music is extremely loud for no reason at all. On both visits, we had to scream to the waitress and across the table if we wanted to have a conversation. The mimosas are trash. There's so much juice and it taste like cheap juice. Extremely tangy orange juice is used for all mimosas even if they say "flavor". On our first visit they did carafes which I liked and that mimosas experience was better than the second time. The second time, they did away with the carafes and now they provide these mimosa towers which I am not a fan. They don't look like they are cleaned properly with residue inside them and stains at the base. Also, they are over juiced with a thick tangy orange juice. The food is good. Well at least the chicken and waffles. My friends said the shrimp and grits are tasty as well and they are spicy. The chicken wings are small but when I requested fried extra hard they seemed like they were fried well and hot which I liked. The waffle have a great taste and crisp. I wish they provided warm syrup but the food is served hot so it works. It would be nice to have a little more variety than just ordering from the limited brunch menu. My friend ordered the omelette minus bacon and they provided her with the picture omelette which I thought was hilarious. They fixed it though but still someone was sleeping on the job or something. 2nd visit for brunch and the food was still just as good as my first visit. The music was not as obnoxiously loud this time which made the meal even better. The waffle was really tasty, could've been thicker but it was still delicious made with fresh blueberries. The fried chicken was seasoned well and crispy. My friends also had other dishes and were satisfied with how their food tasted as well. The service was also good. I am really not sure what to say about this place. For the first time I am actually speechless. It was just hit and miss all over the place. OMG. For starters, we were patted down, wanded, and bag checked by security at the door. Definitely not a place I need to be if that has to happen. But it did feel safe until around 10 pm. We left but you could feel the alcohol starting to kick in and the environment start to change. So the place is a mix between a club, a restaurant, bar, and hooka lounge. Suprisiingly, the food was not bad and didn't take too long to come out. The egg rolls were delicious but the mixed drinks were horrible The wings were a joke. If you have to serve wings that small, don't serve them at all. It was a joke how small they were. Lastly, our hostess was great until the very end. It took 30 minutes to get our tab after requesting it. The DJ was ok, if you like hard rap with a lot of cussing. Cool place for the younger crowd but probably a one timer for me. read more

After months of hearing everyone rant on about this shack I decided to try it... When we walked in it's a sign that read PLEASE WAIT TO BE SEATED, the bartender yelled out "YALL SIT ANYWHERE!" The waitress walked over and said "SCAN THE CODE!" Then went behind the bar to play with her associates. She brought us out drinks (Sprite) in a PAPER CUP ... she refilled mines 3xs and said nothing about no free refills she charged us 2 damn dollars each round! The food was brought out in baskets as if they don't know what the hell plates or utensils are! I felt like I was at a cookout or something! The onion rings were over fried and hard as a brick ! Came here with my girlfriend and immediately got shaken up by how loud the music was from the DJ. Throughout the whole brunch I couldn't hear my girlfriend speaking right next to me. We even had to start yelling in order to hear each other and keep conversations. The music was so loud and the speakers were so close to the tables that you damn near felt the vibrations. Great music choices however it would've been better if turned down a handful of notches. The decor was nice and modern with an urban touch. The server was polite and prompt with our requests. I ordered the Steak and Eggs and a side of grits w/cheese. The steak strips were the best item on the plate. The eggs were alright but lacked seasoning. The grits w/cheese weren't anything special either ; I found myself shaking a heavy amount of black pepper and salt on the top to taste anything. We also ordered the blueberry and strawberry mimosas. This is my spot here. The vibe is good on Friday and Saturday and the food is pretty good. The con of this place is to watch all the servers. They will walk up to you and put the little machine in your face to swipe your card for the bill not telling you they already put a $60-$70 tip on your bill. Don't believe me? My husband and I were headed to the State Fair; however, the lines were extremely long and the traffic was horrendous. We opted to stop here for something to eat and then head back home. The atmosphere was nice. We tried the paradise drink that was good. For appetizers we tried the Soul roll and Philly cheesesteak roll and both were pretty tasty. If you like unpleasant surprises, this is the spot for you! Before my 70-minute drive to this restaurant, I reviewed their website . As I came closer, I placed myself on the waitlist via Yelp to secure a place in line. When I arrived and attempted to check-in, I was refused entry due to my platform Crocs. I did not want to cause a scene so I quietly asked to speak with a manager. To say that this is supposed to be an "upscale" establishment, the manager came outside wearing what most would consider street wear. When I asked about the no Crocs policy not being posted and no dress code being posted on their site, her response was "It's posted on our door." She proceeded to also say that no athletic wear, sneakers or slides are permitted. Mind you, a party had just left who clearly violated the dress code. When I questioned how someone w/ slides and another w/ sandals were permitted entry, the story then changes to footwear needing to have a strap and no gum bottoms. At that moment, I politely walked off (my Crocs have a gotdamn strap AKA Sport Mode). I hate that I had this experience. I'm an AVID supporter of new businesses in the state--especially when Black and/or veteran-owned. I want us to succeed! Words of advice to the owners and staff: TIGHTEN UP!! So I wandered outside of Charlotte and headed to Columbia to help my friends since pre-k celebrate their birthdays. From the outside the place may seem a little off but I assure you once you're inside it is NICE!! We went for Sunday brunch and mimosas. We of course ordered the tower of strawberry mimosas and it did not disappoint. I'm always curious about chicken and waffles ( yes everywhere I go I order this). The chicken wings were hot and seasoned to perfection, the waffle was just right (not to hard not to soft). The DJ had people singing along and dancing which says a lot. If you enjoy hookahs they had those as well. That part I wasn't too impressed with but hey mimosas, lifelong friends and great food I won't complain.
