I have lung damage and can't not wear a mask. We went somewhere else that refused me service. My wife suggested Polliwogs saying we haven't been here in awhile. I didn't want to go fearing getting refused. We walked in and they ask if i had a mask. My wife explained (as I turned to walk away) no he has lung damage and can't wear one. They said oh ok and told us to sit anywhere. The staff were very friendly. The food was fantastic. I loved the philly cheesesteak. The raw fries were great. The restaurant is clean. I am in the high risk of dying from COVID due to the lung damage but I felt very safe here. We will be back again. Oh my wife had her mask on. She doesn't have lung damage. read more

Tried to call to ask if we needed a reservation and their phone was off the hook all week. So my friend and I decided to just go there. If you're in the Northeast and want the greasiest, slimiest fish you've ever had and then throw up later, this is a good place. After shopping, my boyfriend and I decided to stop here to eat since I've always seen it and wanted to try it. I ordered the Catfish Nuggets with raw fries and he got the Fish and Chips. When the food arrived it was swimming in old grease. He couldn't finish his and I made it about halfway through mine. The fish itself had a slimy texture. The fish seemed like it had been cooked previously and then thrown into the fryer later to reheat it. After leaving, we both didn't feel great, and about two hours later I was super nauseous with heartburn. Later that night I violently threw everything up. As a bar for drinking, it might be OK (though they didn't seem to be taking any COVID precautions and it wasn't very busy) but for food, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. read more

Went to Polliwogs last Wednesday with three other friends. Nice day for an outdoor lunch on the patio. The waitress was great and immediately took our drink orders. Two of the guys ordered hamburgers. I wasn't sure what I wanted but one of the guys comes here frequently and he ordered the buffalo wings. I figured I'd try them since I like a good wing. I was in sort of a hurry and really didn't know what to order so I said I'll just take what he ordered. Me Bad! He ordered 10 wings with the Hell Fire and Damnation sauce. Now I do like a little heat and figured if he could take it, I could. I wasn't expecting this much Hell Fire! or Damnation! The sauce was HOT, very HOT and made it almost uncomfortable. The guys were laughing at me because my eyes were watering and I was sweating! My friend also said if he knew they were that hot he would've told me, but he'd never ordered that sauce before either. One of the other guys tried a wing and said it was the hottest he'd ever had too. I'm sure some of these wing places have hotter wings, but this was up there. Again, I'm not knocking Polliwogs because of the sauce, it was our decision to order them. Just beware, if you order the Hell Fire and Damnation it will be hot. They have a good selection of beer, burgers are good, and food is good. Only problem I've had in the past is going on a Friday night and wanting to sit on the patio. Not sure the world needs to improve on the boiled peanut, but the wings, hot dogs, okra and fried shrimp were all amazingly good. The very best bar in the North East. The owner has exceptional customer service. I often see him sitting out front on their covered porch with customers. The bartenders are great too. The tallest one keeps us all entertained on slower nights. I moved 2 hours north 6 months ago and still go to this bar more than any bar in my new home city. TIP: Fried pickles and buckets of beer all the way. You can sober up with the corn hole boards that seem to be always set up and ready. read more

My husband and I had dinner here last night we ordered the fried shrimp appetizer. We received six absolutely delicious fried shrimp nested in a cone fields with french fries. This was absolutely delicious. My has been ordered a cheeseburger with shredded prime rib on a pretzel bun and onion rings. I ordered shrimp and grits. We both shared our meals and enjoyed every bite tremendously. I really need to backtrack a moment and let you know that when we entered this restaurant we seated ourselves. As we circled the bar we were greeted by the friendliest locals you had ever met. They were so warm and welcoming we almost wanted them to join us. Our waitress was incredible she worked alone serving all the tables. She took exceptional care of us and we can we wanted for nothing. Our meal came to about $40. Without exaggeration, this was the worst food I've ever eaten from a restaurant. I should have known when I walked in and it took someone almost 10 minutes to acknowledge our existence that we should have dined elsewhere. We started off with an appetizer order of fried pickles and after a relatively long wait, they were literally inedible. They tasted as if they were fried in salt and baking soda. I've never put anything so awful in my mouth. We sent back the pickles when our food came. My wife and I decided to split some wings, 2 hot dogs, and Mac and cheese. I don't think I could make a more bland Mac and cheese if I tried. Kraft Mac and cheese is 10x better than what we were served. The "smoked BBQ pork" on top of my hot dog tasted like old packaged pulled pork doused in liquid smoke. The acidity of the meat was disgusting, (although it finally got the taste of salt out of my mouth from the pickles) and it ruined the entire hot dog. My wife's palmetto dog wasn't quite as bad but still very salty and underwhelming. The wings were a little overcooked and the wing flavors were salty without any heat or real flavor. When we brought up our concerns to our waitress, she had a bit of an attitude telling us that the BBQ pork is supposed to be "smoked" and reluctantly she went, I'm assuming, to talk to her manager. When she came back, she told us that since we ate some of our hot dogs and wings that she would take 30% off our bill. The manager never came over and we begrudgingly paid the bill just to leave this terrible establishment. This is no exaggeration. I'm very upset I had to pay anything for this meal. I would have rather starved tonight. I will NEVER be returning to this restaurant. read more

Delicious surprise!! I used a living social coupon not knowing anything about this place. But I was pleasantly surprised. My party ordered the wings, fries, broccoli, 2 burgers and the mac and cheese and it was all delicious and fresh!!! We were really impressed that the fries were hand cut like we would make them at home and the mac and cheese was baked, cheesy and delicious. The burger had a pretzel bun and with 8oz of meet it was very good. The wings were fried hard and honey mustard sauce was put on them and they were also very good. The portions were generous as well!! If I had any negative to say it would be that the waitress took a while to come and check on us and bring the check. But the food was great and the decor is very charming SCish and inviting, besides the huge bar in the center with the flat screen TV's around (I could do without that part). I ordered the Fish and Chips Special. The fries were greasy but good. The fish was so greasy I used my extra napkin to try and soak up some of the grease.
