It was our first time at this restaurant, and we were very impressed. Our server, Savannah, was incredibly kind and helped me choose between two dishes. I ended up getting the Twisted Burger, which was amazing. My husband had the patty melt and was equally impressed. What a great find! Was looking for a new lunch spot and stumbled on this gem. Food was very good!!!

The food was just ok except our two orders of wings arrived barely warm and without the dipping sauces. One order was 4 wings short and both orders were all drums instead of a mixture of flats and drums. I prefer flats but never ever would I order all drums. Apparently they ran out of flats. The wing chips arrived cold and chewy. They charged us for the extra wing sauce which we did order but didn't adjust when they didn't bring the included ranch sauce. The ambiance is unsuitable if you expect to have a conversation at your table at a reasonable volume. Noise just carries throughout and then when the live music starts forget about having the conversation at your table unless you enjoy shouting. Not my kind of place. read more

Great atmosphere here! It felt family friendly from the moment we walked in. There is even a game room in the back with some arcade games and an air hockey table. Our oldest boy (10 years old) was psyched about that part. The best part? It was not packed at all. Granted, we came for Sunday dinner, so that may be why but I was still glad to see there wasn't a crowd. The service we received was good and the last time my hubby and I came here for drinks, our bartender, Kirby, was really cool! To be honest, everything was great, but my fried chicken sandwich fell short. For starters, the lettuce inside my sandwich was mostly soggy and old. I also did not see any tomato or onion in it (which is what it's supposed to have on it per the menu). I even confirmed that's what I wanted on it with my server when I was placing my order. As per my request the fried piece of chicken was tossed in a mild buffalo sauce, but I wish I had ordered it tossed in hot buffalo sauce because then I may have enjoyed it better. There just wasn't any good flavor about it! Although the sandwich was disappointing, I ate it any way because I was starving. I was too impatient to complain and wait for another one. My husband and my boys enjoyed their food, however, and I'm very much willing to give this place another try because it such a cool spot. read more

We visited on a Thursday night. The building itself has a very relaxed feel, with neat decor. They had a 2 live singers both of whom were very talented. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive and took great care of us. The owner even started helping which I found to be good leadership. We ordered the wings (lemon pepper and terihot) the wings were the perfect size and also crispy, which we love. The lemon pepper was excellent and the terihot wasn't too hot. We also got the twisted fries/ potato appetizer (I could be off on the name) it was potato's with bacon and ranch covered in melted cheese.. we got the ranch on the side but it was to die for!! However, the food is the best thing there. The chicken is to die for. The hamburgers are the best around and the fixings on the buffet are fresh, flavor able and hot. While the line is small it stays stocked and they are fast. The guys who cook know how to for sure. Anyone who comes and complains and doesn't like anything about this place just needs to go home and stay because this is the friendliest and best eating place around and the prices won't burn a hole in your wallet!!!! read more

This is one of those unexpected places you will find great food. The atmosphere is your typical bar and grill with big screen TVs, booths and tables. The service is always welcoming and if they are running a little slow, there's always a friendly thank you for your patience. While the atmosphere is average. The entrees are NOT your average bar and grill expectations. I have yet to find another restaurant in the Lexington and surrounding areas that can match their 14 ounce ribeye. Every time I have ordered, I never was disappointed. The only regret though is not getting the Twisted Root burger too. Once again, there are a dozen burger joints in the area but their (I believe) hand pattied burger out does any I've experienced. The portion, the condiments, the flavors. Simply the best. Of course there are wings, chicken, and more. But I can't seem to not order the ribeye or the burger. If you leave this place disappointed. It has to be you. read more

Stepped in here for the first time ever this evening.... Exceeded in EVERY aspect. Food: not a single complaint nor thought that something could've been better. This goes beyond just your regular "bar food". Everything was delicious! We had gator bites, the signature burger, steak tacos, and ribeye. Atmosphere: not your typical "bar and grill". Not that the servers are bad but walking in at 827 just to be waiting til it's, at my table, after 830 and the server apologize for the kitchens laziness to cook. I understand the job I did it myself but it's prior to the time and you lost money and the server lost money. I've been to Twisted Root a handful of times and never been very impressed with the food. Most of it is frozen or leftovers reheated, and the fried things tend to be absolutely drenched in oil. Service is not great but not awful either. Our server over the weekend was fine, but after she clocked out she hung around the bar and drank (I have absolutely zero issues with that at all) and we started playing songs on the juke box. She felt compelled to come over to our table and confront us over a song we chose by telling us "it should never be played in public" because the principal version isn't appropriate...which I also technically agree with, but we didn't play the original version of the song, we played a country remix that is heavily edited to the point it's almost a different song. But whatever, I'm not really rating this place based on that server. Our next server was a lot more pleasant and had a smile on during our entire time with her. She checked on us regularly and made sure our drinks were filled and we were happy. However, the bathrooms definitely needed to be cleaned a little more carefully because they were pretty gross. Once the establishment started getting more customers, the poor girl behind the bar was struggling to keep up with making all the drinks for the tables and catering to the patrons at the bar. She was obviously overwhelmed but she was holding her own pretty well. It's probably just a staffing issue, but I felt bad for her either way. We enjoyed hanging out at TR and just having some drinks. Our first server wasn't great, but our second server was awesome. Again, food isn't worth coming here for. Cold drinks, a decent place to just sit and hang out with friends, and a couple of big TVs playing sporting events makes it a decent spot. Three stars feels generous and two stars feels unfair, but I'm not given the option for half stars, so I'm stuck giving it two. Was excited to try this new place out. I saw they had fried zucchini sticks on the menu and I'm always looking for a good new hangout. I was very disappointed. Food was mediocre. Service was slow. Granted, our little waitress was very sweet. She was trying her very hardest but it was only her and one other girl serving the entire place. Fried zucchini was good but not anything I'll go back for. Was served with a horseradish sauce. Smothered chicken was try and bland. The broccoli was good and cooked with just a little crunch left. Fried okra was greasy and bland. Fried flounder was heavily breaded and not much flavor. Collards were good. Sweet potato waffle fries were a little over cooked but edible. We visited Twisted Roots on Wednesday around 6pm. Though the inside of the location was only about 1/2 full, the parking lot was very full and it was difficult to find a parking spot. I was surprised that this location is much more bar and much less grill, but we decided to stay and give it a chance. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. I ordered a Burger, and my husband ordered a steak. The food came out quickly, but was not fantastic. I would advise sticking to bar food, as my meal was much better than my husband's. The steak was expensive for the low quality of cut. I didn't hate it, but I don't think we will return to eat anytime soon. read more

This was our first time ever at this new place. For a place that has been open for 3 weeks, business is booming. When we walked in they said we only had 20 minute wait but it ended up being more which was completely fine because we were waiting on people to show up. When we finally got seated our drinks came pretty quickly but the food took a little while. But that's normal for a newer restaurant. We ordered appetizers and they came out with the food. I just have to say that their onion rings are the bomb they have so much flavor with the remoulade sauce. Any way as always I got a bacon cheese burger with BBQ sauce and honestly it had very little flavor to me. Their floppy raw fries are good but they are very salty.
